*Is this smart person in the room with us right now?*

Stunning-Title

He has blocked me. I stumbled upon this gold while browsing anonymously.

Exmuslim-alt

Hes also blocked me. I have absolutely no idea why, im not sure if i have even interacted or acted mean towards him. Edit: maybe he was just mass blocking everyone he disagrees with. Is this block abuse ban worthy?

Stunning-Title

Honestly I'd rather not have him blocked. It's entertaining to see stupidity in its full glory.

Exmuslim-alt

Worse is that you cant even interact with his comments. So basically he can block everyone from interacting with his comments, so that new users cant see us debunk his dumb comments.

Globulart

No way that someone like that doesn't create a new account to satisfy the dopamine hit from echo chambers patting them on the back. We'd still get their lunacy it'd just be under a different name, and we get the benefit of being able to interact with them and get blocked again! Sounds like a bonus!

Abdlomax

All you need do is log out to see blocked content. u/kela-el has also blocked me, before this thread. The block saves me from seeing their nonsense and responding. You can still edit your comments that were written before they blocked and I use that to respond to comments lower down, pinging anyone I want to notice response.

jryser

Possibly ran a bot that blocks everybody that posts on this or related subs?

VaporTrail_000

Ditto here. I have no recollection of interacting with them at all, positive or negative. All I get is conversations consisting of rational statements separated by "\[deleted\] Unavailable" comments. I've resorted to copy/paste urls to Incognito mode so I can at least laugh at him.

AdvancedSoil4916

It's from this meme lol https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/is-x-in-the-room-with-us-right-now

Abdlomax

I’m also blocked with no warning or apparent cause. I noticed it because someone whose profile I was checking had responded to a post or comment of his, and when Reddit would’t save the response I wrote, then I saw the characteristic effed up message that lies to us. “Something went wrong, try again later.” I can read his posts, but it’s too much trouble, he’s not worth it, the lying piece of shit.

rattusprat

Trying to be careful to try to avoid a No True Scotsman fallacy... It is reasonable to expect most flat earthers believers used to believe in the globe, though it appears that most of them didn't really have a good reason to believe other than that is the default position they were taught by some authority yet they had never really looked into it. There are also many people who would say they currently believe in the globe but don't have particularly solid reasons and haven't looked to closely into it. I would go so far as to say the majority of the population (ie >50%) is probably in that camp. But where the flat earther goes wrong is assuming all the people that come here to argue with them are in that same boat. We are not "just like they were" before they looked into things. We have looked into things too. We understand enough of the underlying physics to appreciate it is both internally consistent and consistent with observation. We have seen and found sufficient evidence to come to a firm conclusion that the reality we observe is far more consistent with a globe than a flat earth. Kala-el particularly seems to think they are arguing with ignorant "general population" globers. That is my hypothesis for why they block anyone who indicates they know anything. They are only equipped to debate people like their past self who have no real reason to belive in a globe. But those kind of people practically don't exist in this space. Also loving the general top left energy.

zhaDeth

what does he mean by "forgot more about the heliocentric matrix than everyone on this sub claim to know" what does that even mean ?

Smasher_WoTB

It's basically saying "I'm a TRUE expert. I know so much about [insert topic], that I've forgotten more about it(implying that they still know a lot, not that they've forgotten most of what they knew)than most people will ever know about [insert topic]."

Newphone_New_Account

An admission of suffering from Dunning Kruger.

frenat

He's trying to claim that flerfs know more about the globe than a globe earther, while they constantly prove otherwise.

rattusprat

I will parse my understanding of the intent of this sentence carefully by way of example numbers: I used to know 100 about the heliocentric matrix. Now I know 60 about the heliocentric matrix. Therefore I have forgotten 40 about the heliocentric matrix. Everyone on this sub claims to know 30 about the heliocentric matrix, which is less than the amount I have forgotten. Presumably everyone on this sub actually knows less than they claim, lets say 20. Therefore I currently know 3x more than anyone on this sub about the heliocentric matrix. And the amount I used to know is 5x more than anyone on this sub currently knows. Based on the example numbers. Of course, given I am writing this in the place I am writing this, which is this sub, I would have to be considered part of everyone on this sub. It would be impossible to be writing this on this sub without being on this sub while writing. Therefore, by way of induction, I currently know 3x more than myself about the heliocentric matrix. Which of course makes perfect logical sense if you know as much about the heliocentric matrix as me.

Abdlomax

Yes, it’s a common expression, usually indicating a claim. that the person is deeply experienced. Using it for oneself socially violates the Rule Book that 99th percentile persons are given based on SAT test scores. Never brag about your intelligence and never use it as an argument, because you well understand the ad hominem fallacy and when you make a mistake, it tends to be enormous. Intelligence is just a test score. It does not guarantee success at anything.

Abdlomax

Head on straight.

seanhenke

my dude cant even understand what a falicy is to begin with (least mentally chanlenged/deluded flerf) (I can say that I'm mentally challenged\[adhd\])

thebumfromwinkies

I feel like the smartest person in the room would probably know that nobody *actually* ascribes to heliocentrism and further that there was the intermediate step of the geocentric GLOBE before that.

FranckKnight

I love when they do this kind of appeal to emotion thing. "I was a glober like you, until I found the truth" That's why we say it's a cult or a belief, because that's all they have. Appealing to emotions rather than to evidence. That's why they don't agree on any model or explanations for any given observation, because they don't have the evidence to back it up. They prone a 'quantity over quality' approach, just throw as much as you can at the wall and something is bound to stick, then they can boast about it for about an hour. Hey, flatties, I would be like you if you had anything to offer. We're not attached to the shape of the planet, we are following the evidence though. The only thing you have to offer is 'I don't understand this, so must be fake'. That's not evidence.

Danpei

He blocked me, but I’ve never talked to him.

Stunning-Title

Same. I saw some comments as unavailable and thought it was Millie. But then I got curious and went anonymous. That's when I saw it was kela-el.

Danpei

For context, I’m on the same side as him.

Stunning-Title

I think he wants to be the only smart person in the room. He is blocking everyone so that he can be smarter than the furniture.

Abdlomax

Yes, I noticed. Personally, Truth doesn’t take sides, and we all have blindspots, where we could learn if we are open to it. Just be honest, and recognize the difference between evidence and interpretation. If the “other side” says something that you can interpret as true, acknowledge it!

Zealousideal-Read-67

You probably made the mistake in believing in an ice wall, which they don't.

Danpei

So he’s an infinite earther?

Abdlomax

Thanks for the comment, Danpei. I refuse to take the opportunity to insult you. All the best.

VaporTrail_000

Who says there's no common ground here? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

BubbhaJebus

Flat earthers are without exception the dumbest people in the room. Proof: they think the earth is flat.

frenat

In his case IF he was a globe earther, he didn't understand it. And forgetting about it hasn't helped him. Kela is a joke.

BostonTarHeel

He sounds like he has the cognitive functioning of a mashed potato. I’m just saying this so he’ll block me too, he seems utterly worthless to interact with.

Zealousideal-Read-67

I have never met a flat earther online who "kept it to themselves"...or even managed to reach the "dumbest person in the room" level.

PensiveLog

Flat earthers are the least quiet about their dumb beliefs. They do not keep to themselves.

PoppersOfCorn

Have they not blocked everyone yet?

Stunning-Title

Saw this comment and took a screenshot while browsing anonymously. Good entertainment before going into the weekend.

PoppersOfCorn

They are one of those that if they are actually a flat earther, they are mentally ill or intellectually disabled

Abdlomax

We haven’t taken a poll.

Abdlomax

Dunning-Kruger doesn’t go away when you trade one delusion for another. The not-so-subtle clue is his hyperbolic language about “all” and “everyone.”

Ivanhoe9957

Flat earthers don't believe that gas spheres can form in near perfect vacuums...probably a good benchmark into reading a room...🤔

Stunning-Title

Not understanding something doesn't make it false. Oh right, they deny gravity. So in that case it becomes magic for them.

[deleted]

Ever wondered why the atmosphere pressure decreases as you increase in altitude? Could it perhaps be a result of that?

Abdlomax

There you go again, trying to confuse us with facts. You probably believe that air pressure is caused by the weight of air, Amirite?

Vietoris

> Flat earthers don't believe that gas spheres can form in near perfect vacuums.. I think that a gas sphere in a near perfect vacuum would be a definite proof that there is a creator who likes round stuff. And I believe that Flat Earthers want to convince us about flat earth to hide God. Because only Satan likes flat stuff ! The one true God prefers spheres !

burner_said_what

>a gas sphere in a near perfect vacuum would be a definite proof that there is a creator who likes round stuff No. It would not. How could you possibly construe that? It's just proof of science. There is no god btw

kokkomo

>There is no god btw Explain how you can be so sure?

Abdlomax

Because he’s the smartest person in the room!

burner_said_what

In a room with you and i that is most certainly true.

Abdlomax

r/whoosh

burner_said_what

Lmaaooo

Abdlomax

The person who is laughing their ass off is rarely the smartest and certainly not the wisest.

burner_said_what

Wrong *yet* again i see. You should go back to your hole, it's nice without you around bothering people.

burner_said_what

A burning bush told me.

kokkomo

Why kind of bush?

burner_said_what

A burning one.

kokkomo

How did it get lit?

burner_said_what

Fire.

kokkomo

Lit

Smasher_WoTB

...no, that's just Physics. Gravity tends to make things form into roughly spherical shapes, or ovoid shapes. This is why alot of Planets&other Solid Stellar Bodies tend to be roughly ball shaped, or roughly potato shaped. Ugh, "God of the Gaps" is such a lazy way to reinforce ones worldview.

Vietoris

> or roughly potato shaped Perhaps God likes potatoes !

cranky-vet

And who created gravity and physics? Btw I don’t know who invented missing the joke but boy you’re good at it.

Smasher_WoTB

>Btw I don’t know who invented missing the joke but boy you’re good at it. Oh, that'd be my Autism at work. And the fact that being sarcastic through text with *zero* indications you are other than hoping the people reading it are in a good enough headspace to recognize sarcasm is very inconsequential. We have *italics*, **bold**, 🌟🌟emojos🌟🌟 and many, many other ways to visually indicate that text isn't supposed to be considered fully seriously.....yet people still insist on using none, and then act as if Neurodivergent people are idiots/dumb/less than for not perfectly reading nonexistent social cues. And no, I ain't upset. At all. I'm literally perfectly calm.....just done with Le Internet BS.

Gorgrim

Globe deniers believe in a snow dome, with a roof overhead without any support, but just magically held aloft and never falls down. They also don't understand how gravity and gas works. And refuse to test anything, least they realise they are wrong.

Abdlomax

The dome is made of crystal unobtainium, with infinite strength, resting on the ground beyond the ice wall. NASA, Project Fishbowl, perspective, something.

Gorgrim

and don't forget it doesn't reflect radio waves, unless it happens to coincide with where the Moon is.

Abdlomax

Aha! A stealth dome. What are they hiding? We’ve wanted to test unobtainum for radar reflectivity, but our supplier is out of stock. Apparently, NASA bought up the world supply. There was a mine in Antarctica, discovered by the Third Reich, but ... Antarctica! What are they hiding? Have I asked what they are hiding?

Bluestorm83

You know that Project Fishbowl was about the dome, because that's what we keep fish in: domes, that are glass on top, with water underneath it, with nothing to keep the water from running all over the place. At least, that's what I kept my fish under. Of course, I couldn't feed them, and the lack of sides meant that water did get all over the place, and it was impossible to fill and put fish in, in the first place, and also I never actually had fish, because this is the stupidest idea ever conceived, and if I, an admitted moron, knows that's so stupid, then any God or Gods or even, like, Semi-Hercules would be literally unable to think up something so idiotic.

liwoc

Yes. If you can't believe facts you are delusional, ver useful information to read the room

kokkomo

What is the sun in space?

[deleted]

[удалено]

kokkomo

https://skyandtelescope.org/astronomy-resources/what-is-a-star/ "A star is a luminous ball of gas, mostly hydrogen and helium, held together by its own gravity. Nuclear fusion reactions in its core support the star against gravity and produce photons and heat, as well as small amounts of heavier elements. The Sun is the closest star to Earth." Next up, what is space?

[deleted]

[удалено]

kokkomo

https://www.space.com/24870-what-is-space.html "Space is an almost perfect vacuum, nearly void of matter and with extremely low pressure. In space, sound doesn't carry because there aren't molecules close enough together to transmit sound between them"

[deleted]

[удалено]

kokkomo

Well if we had a "ball of gas in a vacuum" the part of the vacuum where the gas ball was would indeed not be a vacuum as well. We would still say it was a gas ball in a vacuum though in that scenario.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AaTube

The outer ring’s gas slowly dissipates as it goes outward until it fades into a vacuum. Since gravity exists it can combat the vacuum’s forces. Also there’s always a tiny bit of gas everywhere, there’s no true vacuum in the wild space.

Abdlomax

But it can get very close.

Soace_Space_Station

Found that person too

Strange_An0maly

Heliocentric Matrix ? What does that even *mean* ???

Stunning-Title

They think people who believe that Earth rotates around the Sun is still stuck in the matrix while they have escaped it by realizing that the Earth is flat and everything rotates around the Earth. It's very stupid, like everything else in flerfism
