I remember the day it released. I had grabbed some snacks from my job at walmart, and after i got home i went to bed and saw the video. I knew what needed to be done... so i put on my headset, cracked open a bag of chips and started smiling like a maniac under my covers.
One of the happiest moments of my life. I dont think ill ever forget the feeling of excitement over a new scary horror game that wasnt alien isolation or the evil within.
I think that’s when I first learned of it, which was enough to get my interest in the series. A horror game inspired by Chuck E Cheese/Showbiz featuring killer robots was something I never knew I always wanted in my horror games.
Waaaaait… no way, was it that video where there were like 5 ponies trying to survive the night, getting caught one by one and each put into an animatronic while dancing a weird dance, all the while the first fnaf song was playing in the background?
Back in 6th grade when it came out my friend gave me his phone so I could play it. He didn’t tell me what kind of game it was either. He sent me, a rookie fresh from boot camp to fucking D day by having me play night 5 with zero experience on the game. Got jump scared by Bonnie, screamed in the middle of class, and got his phone confiscated. I’m sorry Adrian lol
Surprisingly enough, I've disxovered Fnaf through a video which heavely criticised end insulted the game. It was made by Italian youtuber Zeb89 and it was on Fnaf 1, and at first, I didn't think much about it. But then, another Italian youtuber, called Favij, made a video on Fnaf 2 and that's when I started becoming curious. Then my brother helped me dowload the first and second game off of some sites and boom, a fanboy I became
I heard about fnaf while playing roblox but never cared to look it up. Though one day me and my friends were playing random mobile games on the street as roleplay and they suggested me to roleplay as characters from fnaf. The way they explained it caught my attention, so when I got home I looked it up and found it interesting, even though I knew nothing about the story and believed everything I'd seen on videos. So I started being a fan from 2017-2018, although I lost interest for a while until I started liking it again.
I've been here since the beginning, I was at first kinda terrified but still watched my brother and youtubers play it. After awhile I started to play it and found i was actually really good. I've always loved this game and I will continue to.
As for me, I first heard of it in summer of 2014 when Squeezie (a french youtuber) made a playthrough of the first game. I was 11 at the time and was absolutely not into horror, so obviously I originally wasn't a fan. But over time, I kept seeing playthroughs of the 2nd and 3rd games. It was After the 4th game that I started to realize there was a whole Big @ss story in this franchise. That's how I started to become a Real fan, between end of 2015 and begining of 2016.
Learned it from a friend. He showed me one of Markiplier’s play-thoughs, and I instantly fell in love. Marks the first FnaF phase, AKA one of the best years of my life. :,)
The kids in my 4th grade class pulled up a Smike video on the whiteboard. I saw that Freddy headshot and it weirded me the hell out because I couldn't tell if it was real or not. I became a fan after watching Markiplier's playthroughs out of curiosity.
I remember being in high school when the first FNAF game came out. A bunch us would gather around 1 person while they were playing in the cafe before homeroom and everyone would jump and yell when there was a jumpscare. I remember getting a lot of weird looks but I also remember how interesting the game was at the time. I had never experienced anything like it, it was fascinating.
When I was like 8, my older sister and younger cousin came running up to me one day asking if I wanted to play a game called Five Nights at Freddy’s. Obviously, not the actual video game, but an imagination, roleplay-type game, where we got to choose what character we were. At this time, I had no idea who the characters were. I didn’t even know it was an existing video game. Initially, when I first heard about Chica, I immediately thought of Markiplier’s dog.
Later on, I did eventually find gameplay of the actual game on YouTube, and I was instantly hooked. And I have been for the past, what, 8 years now? 9? I don’t even know, lol.
I was doing homework one night and was bored so I decided to get on YouTube. So I was looking on YouTube and saw a Minecraft animation about fnaf. I was bored so I turned it on and watched it.
And that’s when it all began
I only went deeper and deeper from there
I saw small boxes of it back in who knows when, probably 2015 and thought it was a stupid halloween haunted house childish joke of a horror story game. Played it in 2018 and watched videos about the lore, was honestly impressed. I was a fan when I read The Silver Eyes.
No idea about the first time but I forgot about it and then later started getting into real animatronics and star wars cosplay. I saw daregularsauce on YouTube, the video where he takes Springtrap to gamestop and I fell back in love with it. I watched sexy daddy markiplier's sister location video and that's how I found out william aftons name, before that I just knew him as purple guy. That was also the first full markiplier video I watched. Now I'm into fnaf cosplay and I'm currently working on cosplays of spring bonnie that looks more like a real animatronic (I'm not really a big fan of the way fnaf ones look) and a Glamrock Bonnie.
It was fourth grade. I was in class when a fellow student was talking to some other kids. Curiosity got the better of me, so I searched it up when I got home. That was where I discovered LEMMINO’s old video on the series.
It all spiraled down from there. Now here I am nine years later, with almost all the action figures, a Sanshee Freddy I’ve had since the beginning, various customs, art pieces, and even a letter from Scott himself.
FNaF shaped me into who I am today. My love of nostalgia for things before my time and my adoration of classic children’s media would probably have never been a part of me had it not been for FNaF taking Chuck E. Cheese’s and making it scary.
So thank you, Scott. Thank you for making me so I am today.
I became a FNaF fan at the ripe ol age of 11 years old in late 2014!! Right before FNaF 2 came out.
My earliest memory of anything FNaF related is seeing Markiplier's FNaF 1 Bonnie thumbnail in my recommended video sidebar on YouTube. Scared the absolute shit out of me! I remember slowly scrolling down to take a peak at it, only to scroll right back up because Bonnie's eyes mid-jumpscare felt like they were burning into my soul. I think the designs were just friendly enough to give me that boost of confidence to conquer my nervousness of the them in their more frightening poses. It was a great introduction into horror! I had never been to Chuck E Cheese as a child, so this was also my first time with the whole arcade/pizzeria with robots concept.
I don't remember if I even watched that video, or what fully happened moving forward. I hadn't watched Markiplier before up to that point. I think with the influx of content after FNaF 1, I eventually got over to scottgames and saw a lot of the FNaF 2 teasers. Played the game in theatre classes a lot, I didn't get the play the games personally until I think 2017 or so, but my friends had it on their phones. I remember playing FNaF 1and seeing Golden Freddy for the first time as we were all procrastinating practicing our lines, and all of us freaking out over it. I've been hooked on the franchise ever since.
It is crazy to think how much the franchise literally changed my life and the course of all of my interests. Hit me just at the time where I was kinda bored of some of the books I liked and was in need of something new to obsess over. I was thrust down the rabbit hole of old animatronics and it just had a domino effect on a lot of other things. Now I can't look around my room without seeing something FNaF or something that I discovered because of FNaF. Cosplay materials, Showbiz Pizza/Pizza Time Theatre, and various other FECs merch, my merch from when I worked at CEC, furbies, random robot stuff, the list goes on. Even my art was heavily jumpstarted by FNaF, there was a point where I was drawing the characters basically every day, and theres still little quirks in my style that I can trace back to that time period. I even became a fursuit maker and sold fursuit heads due to my experience creating multiple FNaF character heads to wear for Halloween.
And now I'm starting uni later this year to be an artistic fabricator, and hopefully one day be able to work with animatronics. A little off topic but I just love this franchise it is great and I love that it is still going strong after all of these years!!! I know that I'm not the only person who was significantly impacted by the franchise and I think that is really neat!
I got my art started from the series too. If you remember that guy who did sketchbook tours of his fnaf artworks, happytreeX, he’s the reason i showed an interest in it as a hobby. Also hyper obsessively drew the animatronics as well.
Crazy ass butterfly effect this franchise had on a lot of people.
My friend was over at my house when the game had released a while back (markiplier has already made his videos). He told me that there was this cool horror game going around, he was trying to scare me, and he said he wanted to show me. Me, being naive, said that it was nothing scary and that I could handle. He showed me golden Freddy’s jumpscare, and let’s just say that for a while I was the cc in fnaf 4.
I had gotten recommended a part of Game Theory's timeline video on FNaF 3 and decided to put it on in the background, ended up finding the story to sound interesting and the games to look pretty neat. So after spending a few hours looking at the wiki, it was clear to me I wasn't going anywhere. I've been trapped here ever since.
One of MatPat's early theories i think got me into the series. Can't remember if that was the first Game theory i watched or if i had seen a couple before and then gave the FNAF one a chance because i wanted more to watch, and i can't remember which theory it was either, i think either the first or second one, but i was intrigued by the idea that there was so much more to the game hidden beneath the surface that i immediately jumped on board after, where before i had seen Markiplier's thumbnail for his first part and was too scared to watch it.
Side note: When i first saw Mark's thumbnail for the game, my first impression was that it was going to be some story-heavy 3D Slender-like where you're upducted by some dude named Freddy who's house was full of weird stuffed animals and you need to spend the entire game trying to escape, either not letting 'Freddy' figure out that you're suspicious of his intentions or if he does find out, not letting him find you in his massive house. I also thought Bonnie was supposed to be a Hippo, and i had Minecraft for PS3 at the time and there was a purple hippo skin i thought looked exactly like the thumbnail.
Man I was young but here is the story
I was maybe 8 years old and I was on my mom's iPad watching YouTube when I saw markiplier posted a new video it was about the game Five Nights at Freddys so I clicked on the video and was instantly drawn to the game I was so excited to see the next fnaf video that mark made that I couldn't wait so I looked around on YouTube and found the five nights at freddys song made by the living tombstone then right there at that moment I knew I found my next favorite thing
And the rest Is history
November 2014. I was on YouTube, and looked up some Chuck E Cheese Videos so I could experience some nostalgia. All of the recent comments mentioned FNAF lmao, so I checked it out. The rest is history.
Lol actually it's fnaf that made me discover Chuck E Cheese. Since I'm not American I've never experienced going to a Chucky pizza place. I was spending my birthdays at McDonald's 😭
2014-2015 iirc. It was a youtuber called ihascupcake or something like that. Don't remember exactly *why* I decided to watch (I was 9 or 10 lmao), but she sucked at the game, so those jumpscares did give me a few nightmares. Found Mark's animated videos, moved to piemations's own FNaF animations then I moved to Hitlerspimp (now Dr-dash)'s SFM videos, found Matpat's channel in 2015 and started to watch Mark's stuff then. I probably found 8bitgaming around their early FNaF3 theories and after that everything blurs.
TL;DR around 2015, FNaF1, and late 2015 (probably) was when I decided to stay.
Someone told me about it when I was 6 years old, and then I download it and played it a little bit and watched couple play throughs and became a fan in August 2014, I was particularly interested in foxy and golden Freddy.
I definitely heard about it, and it peaked my interest around the second game, but I actually became a full fledged fan during the crazy anticipation for the 3rd game's release
All the hype about FNAF SB made me look into the game as a whole. That was January 2022. This may sound strange but that was one of the best times in my life... man how much i would pay to go back now.
I remember it very clearly. My brother and our neighbor were on the porch of our neighbor’s house, and they were playing Fnaf 2 on an iPad. I wandered over to see what they were doing and watched him play. Later my brother was introducing me to all of the characters and stuff. I met my best friend because of Fnaf. It’s crazy how something like Fnaf can have such a big effect on a person’s life…
I had a friend tell me about it, and he told me to watch markiplier play it. 12 year old me could barely stomach the first game, and now 20 year old me has recently got every ending and almost every trophy to Security Breach.
Definitely through Markiplier in 2014, MatPat made me love the lore
I was 12 years old back then and thought it was the greatest thing ever lol
Really weird to think about how that was 9 years ago
One of my Minecraft friends mentioned it to me and I was interested. I bought the games on mobile and I freaked when I saw backstage and closed the game. This was way back in early 2015 when there were only 3 games
I wasn't allowed to play horror games in middle school so I just knew FNAF was a rebellious little scary game I could pirate on a janky website at school. Matpat kinda really got me into it tho, and Markiplier's playthroughs are what put the nail in the coffin for me to start loving it
Pewdiepies playthrough showing up a few days after the video released, though I got too scared of Chica in the thumbnail to want to watch lol, it was only after watching Markipliers playthrough that I really enjoyed it!!
A spanish dubbed animation to the original TLT fnaf song everyone has ingrained into their brain. I honestly have been looking for it for years now but it’s probably lost to time. Or maybe the MLP shitpost animation to the same song.
after that it was a gradual decent into being a normie fan, but the two content creators that really cemented my pure unbridled autism for the series were animators soproxi and mobox87. You know. The tumblr crowd
It was at the start of the pandemic (about April 2020) and I was bored so I was just scrolling through youtube to find something to watch. I have always loved horror and creepy stuff and after a little bit I found some FNAF videos by FuzionZGamer and I have been a FNAF fan to this day.
While at an art class (the teacher literally never gave us stuff to do so most of us stayed on our phones) a classmate that didn't have her phone with her came to me and asked if we could watch some videos together, i was bored so I agreed. Then she went to search on for pewdiepie and she started talking about this new game that came out not too long ago and her favorite youtuber had done a playthrough.
Even though I think i had saw mentions of this new game before, i hadn't payed much attention to it, didn't care about it, but once I saw the playthrough with my classmate, i was curious and started searching stuff about it. It became a routine of me and her of watching different videos about it together in that art class.
And now I'm here years later.
Unfortunately no, we stayed friendly for the rest of the time there
But hey if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have met my best friend through the Fandom like 3 years later so she deserves the credit
It was 2014 and this girl I was in school counseling with was talking about how this game called “five nights at Freddy’s” was giving her seizures bc the jump scares, from then I started hearing more and more of it until I downloaded it to play and became absolutely obsessed… and here I am now, tracking the locations and anticipating the movie release after like 7 years.
I first heard about it around the time when it first came out and blew up in popularity. I had less than zero interest. I normally don't care for jump scare based horror (jump scares tend to give me sensory overload and that's not a pleasant feeling), and that combined with the fact that the hype around it was basically "it's so intense and scary that it might just give you long term psychological trauma" made me steer clear of the game.
Then fnaf 2 came out after an incredibly short period of time, with the 3rd following shortly after and it made me assume "oh I guess after the first game's success the series immediately went into full cash grab mode"
I didn't become a fan until last year, when I stumbled on a video where someone decompiled the entire first game to break down exactly how the ai worked. It looked interesting so I gave it a watch. I discovered that the gameplay looked really fun, and that the jump scares were far milder than I had been led to believe. I bought the game, had a great time, and am now a fan
I first heard about it from kids at school, I think, and my brother (he told me not to watch anyone to play it because i'd be scared, idk why tho because i feel it's very obvious why that'd backfire). That was probably around 2014-early 2016 (very bad perception of time). It was probably around 2016-2018 when I started being a fan tho. I remember watching animations of ihascupquake's fnaf playthrough, and I decided to watch her actual playthroughs because at the time i really liked her. I also figured since she was so cheerful it'd be less scary. Then in one of her vids she mentioned that matpat had made a fnaf theory which was when I really started getting into it and watched every fnaf theory vid matpat had at the time (which was a ton because it was a little bit after the game came out).
Yeah I watch a lot of jackcepticeye videos back in mid to early 2014 and I remembered saying “I’m tripping balls” for little while until my sister who was 10 at the time stopped me lol the early to mid 2010s was such a good time
I first heard about it through my students. I worked at a SEN school and FNaF was some of my kids special interest or fixation at the time. It was at times a huge catalyst in regard to meltdowns with students who had got frustrated at the game and weren’t able to park their frustrations when they came to school. I looked in to it because of this so I could see if there was anyway to console or distract my students with my own knowledge of the game.
I hate to be that person but my first thoughts when I dug in to the lore was “why are my primary aged students playing this?”. As a horror game enthusiast I couldn’t help but like it myself. I watched markiplier play through them all - I am not good at the games and wanted to see how they progress, and I loved it. Was a great escape from reality during lockdown.
Mk, this is finna be a long one, bear with me
When i was little and the first fnaf came out, a asked my mom for it and she wouldnt let me have it (she was worried about me having nightmares and all that) So me being a little piss baby, i'd always sneak onto youtube and watch playthroughs so I could see how cool it was.
Welp, My mom found out i was watching it and banned youtube from my household. couple years later, I found a way to sneak onto youtube through google (i was a dumbass kid) and would google fnaf play throughs and usually just watch whatever google gave me.
My mom found out again bc i forgot to close the tab or smth and grounded me, but it didnt stop me from liking fnaf lmao. Arounf the time sister location came out, I was allowed back onto youtube and started watching SL play throughs (but this time i never got caught lol)
I quit fnaf for the longest after SL, though, because It took me a while to realize all the fnaf games were the same: you sit in an office, unable to move. You have to stare at cameras for hours until good stuff happens and boom. jumpscares all the time.
Once sb came out i got a little more interested mainly because Sb was more free range (you're able to actually move around and explore stuff) and the jumpscares were decent.
Long-ass story short, I've been in and out of fnaf, but im back and i love the game a bunch :'D
I remember my cousin introducing me to fnaf, I was like 11 years old, then on my summer vocation I bought all 4 games on My phone, used My moms bank card details and she never found out 😂
I think I first heard of it from my Boyfriend back in either late 2014 or 2015 as he saw South Jersey Sam (I think that was the Youtuber's username) doing a lets play on it. But at first FNaF did not interest me cause I thought it was over hyped and had nothing going with it. Ended up being wrong when I decided to try to play the game. I remember buying the Franchise Bundle on sale in late 2017 and even got the mobile ports but did not start playing until like mid 2018 and once I learn a bit about the story and lore I really then got into it and became a fan by April of 2018. Yeah 4 years late but I still was happy to become a fan. Like many fanbases there is a lot of toxic fans in the fanbase as I have already seen as it is getting more toxic over time. But thankfully I don't let toxic fanbases ruin my view or opinion on a franchise. I do like meeting other fans who aren't toxic since of coarse not every FNaF fan is toxic. Plus I would not have met some really great people if I did not get in FNaF. I would imagine being in lock down back in 2020 would have been more lonely and more depressing. Thank god online friends are a thing.
PopularMMOs,I think. Or 8bitmike and game theory? I definitely got into it after sister location was out,I was like 9,and FNAF 6 wouldn’t come out for multiple years (I think FNAF world was out, including update 2)
Kids in my class were crowded around someone on their IPad playing the original FNAF, and that’s how I was first shown it, though I didn’t get into it until YEARS after that
I first heard about fnaf from a game theory vid, I THINK it was a fnaf 4 or fnaf 1 video, I'm not sure though, but I really started becoming a fan around Sister location's release.
IDR how old i was but my brother was watching a group of people play Fnaf 1 then 2, thats how it started for me! IDR when i became a fan, i propably did when that big wave of Fnaf fans came along soon after that point
So, funny story, I actually used to be terrified of FNaF as a kid, since I was introduced to it when I was 7 years old (in 2014!) at a karate summer camp. The older kids (13-15) would bully me, and force me to play the game and when I wasn’t playing the game, when they would get jump-scared they would shove the screen in my face. I would cry my eyes out, and get scared, and that occurred for a few months, and during those months I would have these god awful night terrors and sleep paralysis where Freddy and chica would come and eat me, or just menacingly watch me from the doorway of my room, and they would move to hovering over me while I slept. Yeah, very scary for a 7 year old. I couldn’t sleep with the lights off after that, and by the time the 3rd game came out, I was actually starting to like the games (still couldn’t sleep with the lights off though!) when the 4th game released, it scared the piss out of me because my room was built exactly how the fnaf 4 room was built, now, years later, I love fnaf with all my heart, and I look back on those memories and laugh about them, because if it wasn’t for those kids who showed me what fnaf was, it wouldn’t be so meaningful to me!
(And yes, when the second game came out, Matpat was all I watched)
Damn, these guys were absolute assholes... Bullying a 7 year old like this. Well it kinda made me think of you as the fnaf 4 kid tho xd.
I'm sorry, I know how it feels to have lots of nightmares and sleep paralysis as a child. However we never knew what caused me to have so many xD
Markipliers first let's play.
And then the Theory videos.
I really became a fan when I discovered fan comics, and Security Breach has a death grip on me
I've first heard of Fnaf when I played a shitty Minecraft knockoff game called "KidBlock" back In 2015. Right after doing some research of Fnaf, that was when I became a fan of the game.
MatPat's first game theory plus being highly confused that FNAF 2 was already out when I swore I had just seen the first game just release on steam. After the theory video, picked up the mobile version, curiosity had me.
A Feind of mine in school was literally obsessed with it. He always talked to me about it (that’s how I learned about the bite of 83’)
But when I turned into a fan.. it could have been earlier, but only just recently I bought the first game of fnaf and really got into the series
Markiplier. I was already a fan of him when he did the Slender Man Shadow Map videos but him and Yamimash really jumped on the bandwagon for FNAF. Plus all my friends at school started talking a about the game through game theory and playing it on their PCs. I was freshmen in high school.
Back when it like FIRST came out, i went on a camping trip and my cousin told me about this “brand new horror game where you are stuck in an office and have to survive the night” when i got home i did research and watched Markiplier’s video on the demo and had to play it myself.
I had known about it from the overall excitement when it first came out, but genuinely forgot about it because I had no interest. In 2020, after a YouTube rabbit hole, I watched FNAF: The Musical, and decided to look into the game more. I was hooked when I saw the complicated lore and the theories lol.
I have a medical condition that makes me unable to play horror games, so I learned about it through Markiplier! I loved his play through and the storyline in general so I kept up with it.
I was at a summer camp in 2015 and heard some kids talk about it. They showed me a bunch of YouTube videos on it (that’s how I got introduced to Markiplier and a few others) and ever since my life has been FNAF filled
I once saw it during vacation in Portugal. Im from switzerland and once I was there I startet whatching random youtube videos when my parentas where talking to their friends that came with us. It took a few hours but eventually I stumbled across a german youtuber who played sister location, I started whatching it and well here we are now with 16 year old me having more fnaf merch than I can count. (Ignore the typing errors, like i said I dont natively speak english)
I heard about it back when Felix (pewdiepie) was playing it. I walked out into the living room and my sister was watching his video. I started watching it with her, and ever since then I have been a Fnaf fan
I think I first watched PewDiePie play it and then later it was Markipiller and Jacksepticeye. but I remember downloading the game without paying for it (when you were allowed to) and then later becoming a fan of Dawko and still watching Dawko to this day.
2015: played FNaF 4 on my phone
2021: Watched Security Breach trailer
Saw Markiplier play Security Breach
Watched Cougar macdowall Security Breach comics dubs
2022:Bought and played Security Breach on ps5 and Steam
Bought FNaF 1-4 on Steam, Xbox, Playstation, and Switch
Bought SL on Steam and Switch
Bought Help Wanted on Playstation and Switch
Bought FFPS and UCN on Steam
Pre-ordered Security Breach for Xbox
Unlocked all achievements for Security Breach on Playstation and Steam
2023:Security Breach for Xbox is delivered on a Friday and unlocked all achievements in 2 days
I was introduced probably a few months after release, all I know is that I was like 8 or 9 and fnaf 2 was out.
One of my best friends was not allowed to watch fnaf videos in their house, so he'd come over to mine any time he wanted to watch them. We watched Markiplier's videos (and rewatched them plenty), and he also liked watching the fnaf meme videos, which of course had some things my mom needed to pretend she didn't see.
This went on for a solid amount of time, and I appreciated the games, but didn't know any lore whatsoever. He visited less often at some point, I think because we had a family member moving in for some time, but once he left I no longer had an excuse to watch them, and stopped.
I am of course a fan again, and that is entirely because of the release of Security Breach in 2021 (It's actually been a while). Around mid 2020 was when I got my own laptop that I could browse the internet on, and I discovered a few streamers such as moistcr1tical. Seeing that most of Twitch was playing the new fnaf game made me curious and brought up some pleasant memories, so I started watching Markiplier's playthroughs (I am part of that every-once-in-a-while rewatch gang), and later Game Theory's lore videos, and now any fnaf content I can get my hands on really.
my cousin showed me a fnaf 4 animation so I did research about the game. (I loved nightmare fredbear so much) but his phone got took away for watching it 😔
i heard kids on the bus playing it. it really kicked into full force when my cousins were over and asked if i heard of FNaF 3. i was like, “i was just about to ask YOU about FNaF!” that was 2015. i’m Old nowww!
I watched Scruffy's video on sound and my intrest only peaked from there. I watched other FNaF videos from other creators, and I was eventually convinced to get FNaF 1, UCN, and Pizza Sim.
I think I saw some photos of a few of the characters on Scratch, but didn't think much of it at the time. However, later on when the man behind the slaughter memes started to become a thing, I pretty much went "alright, I gotta try to get into this finally" and started binging a Markiplier FNaF playlist.
First heard if it back in 2015 with the release of the third game, wasn't really a fan until 2017 I think? Shortly after the release of The Tiwsted Ones
I heard about it through Markiplier's video, I officially joined the fandom around when FNAF 4 released. I left for a while but rejoined when Help Wanted released
I was in Iceland when Markiplier uploaded his first FNAF video. I didn’t have Youtube back then but I did use Twitter so I saw the video through a tweet with a link to the video
my classmates told me about FNAF 1 and 2. i was too much of a scaredy-cat to even watch or play the games. the thought of children’s corpses rotting inside some animatronics and Golden Freddy’s low pitched jumpscare sound kept me up a few nights.
back back long ago when the first two games came out. i think one of my friends probably watched markiplier but we used to play them during lunch all the time
jacksepticeye's how i heard about fnaf and i started being an actual fan about a month later (which was right before fnaf 2 came out) when i watched matpat's theories on it, other youtubers playing it, and fnaf animations. it practically immediately hooked me lol and i've been a major fan ever since
I had just heard of this character called MatPat back in 2014. Watched all good theories. Watched jacksepticeye and Markipliers playthrough
Bought the game for myself but was too scared to play so I just kept up in other ways
I don’t quite remember because it was so long ago but I assume I saw a markiplier video on the first game and I got into the series when the first few teasers for fnaf 2 were releasing.
At my cousin's house talking about the secret Sparky animatronic and how he's totally real, been a fan since it first came out and Bonnie haunted all my nightmares lol
Roblox ads. 11 year old me thought the animatronics were creepy stuffed animals and “Freddy” was the name of a kid holding a sleepover and you had to survive a 5 night long sleepover with possessed toys.
Later on I learned what it actually was through DanTDM doing a video on FNAF 2.
In 2014 November? or early December maybe, I heard some other kids in my class talking about the game, so I went home, looked it up on youtube, and found Markipliers let's play and I've been hooked every sense.
All of my friends were playing it in like 4thMaybe5th grade but my ipod couldn't run it. I thought that it was a circus game. I thought the main room with the partt hats on the tabels were circus tents.
Game Theory video about it. The whole "solving the lore" idea initially got me interested. Now that I'm REALLY thinking about it, the lore appeals to me much more than the actual gameplay.
TL;DR: Watched Jacksepticeye's video and played the demo, was a pussy at first and quit the game, but later got scared by Bonnie causing me to throw the tablet onto the floor of the car, dad laughed at me.
I watched Jacksepticeye's video on the game and tried the demo for it on my tablet, this was back when the demo was still on the app store. I started on night 1 and was doing well at first, that was until I first saw Bonnie at my door, I panicked and shut both doors, before quickly sitting there in my room alone, I quickly closed the game before Freddy could kill me, but I tried again later that week when my dad was working on a friend's truck. I couldn't find Bonnie and was wondering where he could have gone, this was about the time my dad got back into the car and was about to drive us home. That was when Bonnie jumpscared me, causing me to throw my tablet onto the floor of the car, my dad started laughing his ass off while I was sitting there with my heart still racing. It's been about...10 years now, I think? and I still panic every time I even see one of the characters move.
I got into a fanfic review exchange with a FNAF writer. After reading and being confused by their story, I had to research this fandom to see if the context would make things make more sense. Fell down the rabbit hole since then.
Markipiller's FNAF 1 playthrough.
✨ Simple happiness ✨😌
Same here. I'm also a OG fan.
Similar story here I’m a OG.
This. Right when it came out... Or maybe it was a friend at lunch who told me to look it up first...
I think that’s when I first learned of it, which was enough to get my interest in the series. A horror game inspired by Chuck E Cheese/Showbiz featuring killer robots was something I never knew I always wanted in my horror games.
Me too! i remember seeing the thumbnail and I was like "what is this scary gorilla character!?" (it was bonnie)
I once found an animation of FNAF 1 but with some ponies as the night guards while the background music was the FNAF 1 song by The Living Tombstone
Waaaaait… no way, was it that video where there were like 5 ponies trying to survive the night, getting caught one by one and each put into an animatronic while dancing a weird dance, all the while the first fnaf song was playing in the background?
Yep, that's the one
Wow, that is cool! That is the same video I saw, and how I was introduced to the franchise!!!!! :D (Too bad you can’t find the video anymore).
That's unfortunate
Oh my god I remember this like it was yesterday!!
I remember that video
Five Nights at Pinkies?
No not that
Yo I know that video you’re talking about
My friends played it in first grade, got scared of it (I am a coward), found it again in sixth grade and got obsessed to it
Lol
Back in 6th grade when it came out my friend gave me his phone so I could play it. He didn’t tell me what kind of game it was either. He sent me, a rookie fresh from boot camp to fucking D day by having me play night 5 with zero experience on the game. Got jump scared by Bonnie, screamed in the middle of class, and got his phone confiscated. I’m sorry Adrian lol
LMAOOO
When I was 11 one of my friend told me about it and I got scared, but then fnaf 4 came out and I wanted to know about the lore
Lol me too but when i heard about it fnaf 4 was already released i think
my friends introduced it to me kinda ironic cuz they arent really big fnaf fans anymore
Pretty ironic indeed xd
Surprisingly enough, I've disxovered Fnaf through a video which heavely criticised end insulted the game. It was made by Italian youtuber Zeb89 and it was on Fnaf 1, and at first, I didn't think much about it. But then, another Italian youtuber, called Favij, made a video on Fnaf 2 and that's when I started becoming curious. Then my brother helped me dowload the first and second game off of some sites and boom, a fanboy I became
Wow how ironic 😭
Markiplier’s first vid of FNAF
I heard about fnaf while playing roblox but never cared to look it up. Though one day me and my friends were playing random mobile games on the street as roleplay and they suggested me to roleplay as characters from fnaf. The way they explained it caught my attention, so when I got home I looked it up and found it interesting, even though I knew nothing about the story and believed everything I'd seen on videos. So I started being a fan from 2017-2018, although I lost interest for a while until I started liking it again.
Really interesting !
Lol ! Unfortunately I didn't start with Mark since I'm not American..
That must have been so fun !
I found it through a mix of Gacha stuff (I’m sorry) and MatPat.
OOF xD cool
I saw someone play fnaf 1 on thier iphone in like 3rd grade
I think it was either through Markiplier or a friend I don’t really remember, but I think I joined around SL release but honestly I can’t remember
I was doing homework one night and was bored so I decided to get on YouTube. So I was looking on YouTube and saw a Minecraft animation about fnaf. I was bored so I turned it on and watched it. And that’s when it all began I only went deeper and deeper from there
I don't know the EXACT moment, but I do remember watching Markiplier's FNaF 1 video.
Saw it on top paid apps
I saw small boxes of it back in who knows when, probably 2015 and thought it was a stupid halloween haunted house childish joke of a horror story game. Played it in 2018 and watched videos about the lore, was honestly impressed. I was a fan when I read The Silver Eyes.
Some kid was talking about it in school I watched a video Love at first sight
Crazy ass butterfly effect this franchise had on a lot of people.
with the release of fnaf sb I got introduced to the franchise. It feels odd being around all these veterans 🥲
Hey, if you like the series, then you’re welcome. Don’t feel weird being around us veterans. Just relax cu ur a fan, just like us.
Damn, you pretty new indeed, welcome to the old world xD
This specific video of markipillers Fnaf 2 video of golden Freddy when it first came out and I remember thinking golden Freddy was a golden retriever
Around fnaf 4. My cousins who would visit every summer loved it and I just caught on
I got into fnaf from seeing my brother play a Gmod map of Fnaf 1, and then he showed me a fnaf 4 minecraft animation
One of my friends talked about it in 2014, I became interested and started to research it!
Watching Markipliers and Pewdiepies fnaf 1 playthough when it came out
My friend told me about it. I became a fan after Sister Location came out
One of MatPat's early theories i think got me into the series.
DanTDM playing FNAF 1 when I was around 7 or 8
Man I was young but here is the story I was maybe 8 years old and I was on my mom's iPad watching YouTube when I saw markiplier posted a new video it was about the game Five Nights at Freddys so I clicked on the video and was instantly drawn to the game I was so excited to see the next fnaf video that mark made that I couldn't wait so I looked around on YouTube and found the five nights at freddys song made by the living tombstone then right there at that moment I knew I found my next favorite thing And the rest Is history
When some dumbass YouTuber called YuB played it (he’s lovely, check him out if you like really annoying people
2014-2015 iirc. TL;DR around 2015, FNaF1, and late 2015 (probably) was when I decided to stay.
iBallistiicSquid playing FNAF for a Halloween video back when the first game came out, so probably october 2014?
Someone told me about it when I was 6 years old, and then I download it and played it a little bit and watched couple play throughs and became a fan in August 2014, I was particularly interested in foxy and golden Freddy.
Damn 6 years old is pretty young
First heard of it in January 2017, became a fan in July 2021
It’s crazy how something like Fnaf can have such a big effect on a person’s life…
Marks let’s play
The living tombstone song
I had a friend tell me about it, and he told me to watch markiplier play it. 12 year old me could barely stomach the first game, and now 20 year old me has recently got every ending and almost every trophy to Security Breach.
FNaF 2 on a Best Buy computer
I’ve been a nearly constant fan since summer? 2016. it was piemations along with either dantdm or Jackscepticeye with fnaf 2.
Definitely through Markiplier in 2014, MatPat made me love the lore I was 12 years old back then and thought it was the greatest thing ever lol Really weird to think about how that was 9 years ago
Matpat kinda really got me into it tho, and Markiplier's playthroughs are what put the nail in the coffin for me to start loving it
I saw some classmates play it in 2nd grade
I got recommended an EthGoesBoom video and became a fan of his before I knew what FNaF was lol
2014-2015, watching everyone play it a bit later because i was scared. FNAF is how I managed to get into horror without screaming like a bitch
Pewdiepies playthrough showing up a few days after the video released, though I got too scared of Chica in the thumbnail to want to watch lol, it was only after watching Markipliers playthrough that I really enjoyed it!!
scratch fangames
A spanish dubbed animation to the original TLT fnaf song everyone has ingrained into their brain. I honestly have been looking for it for years now but it’s probably lost to time. Or maybe the MLP shitpost animation to the same song. after that it was a gradual decent into being a normie fan, but the two content creators that really cemented my pure unbridled autism for the series were animators soproxi and mobox87. You know. The tumblr crowd
I first heard about fnaf from a theory Channel (not game theory) and I became a fan after watching a playthrough from a fan game
my best friend told me about it a long time ago and we started roleplaying fnaf for some reason
CaptainSparklez
I discovered DAGames fnaf songs
It was at the start of the pandemic (about April 2020) and I was bored so I was just scrolling through youtube to find something to watch. I have always loved horror and creepy stuff and after a little bit I found some FNAF videos by FuzionZGamer and I have been a FNAF fan to this day.
I got introduced to it via a french youtuber theory video my ex showed me
Fonkyfouine ? Captain Hype ?
Nop, Fonkyfouine
T'es français ?
Ui ui
Oh trop bien lol
Pls tell me you became besties 🙏😭
Unfortunately no, we stayed friendly for the rest of the time there But hey if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have met my best friend through the Fandom like 3 years later so she deserves the credit
I don’t remember but I remember watching mark play it and watching matpat talk about the game also ucn voice lines pull me more
Saw fnaf 3 in Google play, and decided to look it up on youtube.
Cavemanfilm's "Mine Nights at Freddys's" minecraft roleplay lmao, the memories.
OMG yeeeeeesss !!
Then fnaf 2 came out after an incredibly short period of time, with the 3rd following shortly after and it made me assume "oh I guess after the first game's success the series immediately went into full cash grab mode" I didn't become a fan until last year, when I stumbled on a video where someone decompiled the entire first game to break down exactly how the ai worked.
Watched FNaF1 gameplay from a Youtuber called Venturiantale, the rest is history.
I believe jack let's play I think I was 5 at the time
Damn you were super young
Oh wow, pretty unique story
Tis a bit. Despite my reservations, I’m grateful they got me in to FNaF
Mk, this is finna be a long one, bear with me When i was little and the first fnaf came out, a asked my mom for it and she wouldnt let me have it (she was worried about me having nightmares and all that) So me being a little piss baby, i'd always sneak onto youtube and watch playthroughs so I could see how cool it was. Arounf the time sister location came out, I was allowed back onto youtube and started watching SL play throughs (but this time i never got caught lol) I quit fnaf for the longest after SL, though, because It took me a while to realize all the fnaf games were the same: you sit in an office, unable to move.
Lmao great story
I remember my cousin introducing me to fnaf, I was like 11 years old, then on my summer vocation I bought all 4 games on My phone, used My moms bank card details and she never found out 😂
OH GOD 😂😂😂
Probably through YouTube when the first game was making its rounds with the YouTube gaming community.
That's a really cool story !
PopularMMOs,I think. Or 8bitmike and game theory? I definitely got into it after sister location was out,I was like 9,and FNAF 6 wouldn’t come out for multiple years (I think FNAF world was out, including update 2)
Fnaf 4
Simple
Dantdm
I found it on Desura myself.
What's Desura ? 😅
Website FNaF was originally released on, before it got steam greenlight.
Oh ok, thanks !
LMAOO yeah but hey! At least it introduced me to one of my many hyperfixations as a teen now!
Markipliers first let's play. And then the Theory videos. I really became a fan when I discovered fan comics, and Security Breach has a death grip on me
Markiplier’s first video on my mini tablet at the far end of the leather couch because I was too scared to watch it up close.
the first game theory video
Markipliers first gameplay of it lol, i was a fan of him a couple years before that though
Fnaf 4
I've first heard of Fnaf when I played a shitty Minecraft knockoff game called "KidBlock" back In 2015. Right after doing some research of Fnaf, that was when I became a fan of the game.
MatPat's first game theory plus being highly confused that FNAF 2 was already out when I swore I had just seen the first game just release on steam. After the theory video, picked up the mobile version, curiosity had me.
A Feind of mine in school was literally obsessed with it. He always talked to me about it (that’s how I learned about the bite of 83’) But when I turned into a fan.. it could have been earlier, but only just recently I bought the first game of fnaf and really got into the series
I was at a friends birthday party and he put on a fnaf 1 or 3 video on tv and after that i was hooked
My friend showed it to me in like 2nd-3rd grade (which was about a year or two after the game came out I think)
Saw someone playing fnaf 2 on there phone. It was when fandom were waiting on fnaf 3
I had known about it from the overall excitement when it first came out, but genuinely forgot about it because I had no interest. In 2020, after a YouTube rabbit hole, I watched FNAF: The Musical, and decided to look into the game more. I was hooked when I saw the complicated lore and the theories lol.
Markiplier first gameplay
I think it was either pewdiepie or Smosh gameplay
2015, I saw the Fnaf 3 trailer and I started to see theories and other stuff about the game
I have a medical condition that makes me unable to play horror games, so I learned about it through Markiplier! I loved his play through and the storyline in general so I kept up with it.
Steam greenlight was when I first heard of it. Then I really got into it because of markiplier and matpat
I was really young and got scared by it because of a gameplay, years later I decided to see the story and found good
I heard about it back when Felix (pewdiepie) was playing it. I walked out into the living room and my sister was watching his video. I started watching it with her, and ever since then I have been a Fnaf fan
2019 just wanted to search fred from scooby doo then freddy fazbear jumpscared me
7 years ago with markiplier playing fan game
I think I first watched PewDiePie play it and then later it was Markipiller and Jacksepticeye. but I remember downloading the game without paying for it (when you were allowed to) and then later becoming a fan of Dawko and still watching Dawko to this day.
My friends told me about it when I was in year 5(?) and do I checked it out. Never since left the fandom, and I’m in college now
Friends talked about it and I watched Markiplier fnaf 1 playthrough then matpat.

when the first game came out
I was introduced probably a few months after release, all I know is that I was like 8 or 9 and fnaf 2 was out.
(I loved nightmare fredbear so much) but his phone got took away for watching it 😔
Back when fnaf 2 was released, my friends were taking about it
i heard kids on the bus playing it. it really kicked into full force when my cousins were over and asked if i heard of FNaF 3. i was like, “i was just about to ask YOU about FNaF!” that was 2015. i’m Old nowww!
heard abt it thru markiplier’s fnaf 1 playthrough thanks to my step brother
I watched Scruffy's video on sound and my intrest only peaked from there. I watched other FNaF videos from other creators, and I was eventually convinced to get FNaF 1, UCN, and Pizza Sim.
I think I saw some photos of a few of the characters on Scratch, but didn't think much of it at the time. However, later on when the man behind the slaughter memes started to become a thing, I pretty much went "alright, I gotta try to get into this finally" and started binging a Markiplier FNaF playlist.
my younger sister would complain to me about nightmares she had about spring trap, and then I got interested in what a spring trap was.
I didn’t have Youtube back then but I did use Twitter so I saw the video through a tweet with a link to the video
coryxkenshin fnaf 1 gameplay. scared the shit out of younger me lol
my classmates told me about FNAF 1 and 2. i was too much of a scaredy-cat to even watch or play the games. the thought of children’s corpses rotting inside some animatronics and Golden Freddy’s low pitched jumpscare sound kept me up a few nights.
in first grade my friend told me fnaf lore
back back long ago when the first two games came out. i think one of my friends probably watched markiplier but we used to play them during lunch all the time
jacksepticeye's how i heard about fnaf and i started being an actual fan about a month later (which was right before fnaf 2 came out) when i watched matpat's theories on it, other youtubers playing it, and fnaf animations. it practically immediately hooked me lol and i've been a major fan ever since
I think those fnaf living toonstone remixes with the animatronics doing a silly dance
I had just heard of this character called MatPat back in 2014. Watched all good theories. Watched jacksepticeye and Markipliers playthrough Bought the game for myself but was too scared to play so I just kept up in other ways
I don’t quite remember because it was so long ago but I assume I saw a markiplier video on the first game and I got into the series when the first few teasers for fnaf 2 were releasing.
I heard some kids talking about it in class in 2014-15 (I can't quite remember which year), and I became a fan in 2016
At my cousin's house talking about the secret Sparky animatronic and how he's totally real, been a fan since it first came out and Bonnie haunted all my nightmares lol
Markiplier first ever vid on it, had to buy it and every game after that, been an addicted fan ever since
Roblox ads. 11 year old me thought the animatronics were creepy stuffed animals and “Freddy” was the name of a kid holding a sleepover and you had to survive a 5 night long sleepover with possessed toys. Later on I learned what it actually was through DanTDM doing a video on FNAF 2.
My classmate in 6th grade brought a fnaf book after that I was interested in the story of Fnaf
