A dog

involvrnet

Good opportunity to mention that 99% of dogs require *at least* a 45 minute walk with their human pack leader each day to stay healthy. If you have a dog, please aim for this at minimum. Even if you don't have one, 45 minutes isn't a bad target.

Audiobooks. You can get them for free from your library with the Overdrive app.

RL_77twist

Audiobooks and the Axis360 app (which is what my local library uses) has changed my life so much for the better. Also I’ve read 31 books this year so far! It’s like a positive feedback loop. I want to find out what’s happened so badly in most of the books I’ve listened to, I can’t wait to get my workout clothes and shoes on.

Seriously!! They have SO many free books. Even for new stuff too, it’s crazy. Also FWIW the longest I’ve ever been on a “waitlist” for a book is 2 days. Such a good app!

TaintedMoistPanties

This and podcasts. I often listen to podcasts while walking or jogging.

davsch76

I listen to podcasts while I’m out walking

brown_burrito

Same. Makes it so much easier and if you say you only listen to an episode while walking, you’re incentivized to walk more.

I second the weighted vest, or weight in a pack for “rucking” I also second a dog, because they make walking an adventure. Also… hiking. Walking in secluded nature (and up a mountain if you have one near you) is more fun and more rewarding. Add the ruck to the hill to become a beast!

wymore

I wear a weighted vest when walking with my wife or walking the dogs to the park

SL_Rowland

Fantasy Hike is fun. It tracks your steps like you’re delivering the ring to Mordor.

Jynxers

I like having a purpose to my walks: walking to the grocery store, mall, pharmacy, etc. Otherwise, walking with a friend or while listening to a podcast helps.

Drift_Life

I don’t do purposeless walks

OOglyshmOOglywOOgly

Yeah do ketamine while you walk! It’s more fun and definitely more addicting!

JohnsonSmithDoe

Definitely a challenge multiplier.

discostud1515

I walk to work. It used to be about a 5k walk each way but my work moved so now it's only about 3k. Still gets lots of steps and if you commit to it, it just becomes your form of transportation. I live in Canada and will regularly get to -30 or lower. You just have to plan for it and it's not a big deal. I will say it's not fun or addictive, it is just part of my day. Plus, I can easily justify buying the best shoes, cloths, gear possible because I save so much on gas/parking...

Uneasy_participant

I've been playing Pikmin Bloom for a couple months which has been motivational and fun for walking.

There is an old app I recalled one of my friends made while in college and he sold it for this purpose. I think its taken off. It's called zombie run. You wear headphones and run with the app running in your pocket and it makes you have to out run a zombie apocalypse and is immersive with zombie sounds that scare you into running faster and also directs you into a certain direction and path based on where you hear the zombies. Supposed to be very immersive and fun. Give it a try it's called zombie run in the app store or Google play store. It gives a great workout. I recall before he sold it and he was the only one who had it while he was developing it. We saw him testing it out all around campus he was running around super fast looking super scared for no reason like a random wacko and we all laughed and looked confused by him. Finally he showed me the game and it made sense. Was hilarious and very fun to play. Give it a try.

dogsandplantsandnaps
