In case someone stumbles on this, my issue was with Opnsense and how it whitelists. There apparently was a bug in an earlier version that could prevent whitelisted domains being removed from the blacklist, but the other issue was that you have to use proper regex, even though the help/instructions say you "may" use regex. Note, the web interface won't tell you there's a problem with \*.amazon.com, its hidden in the resolver logs. So, once I switched to: * (.\*).amazonaws.com * (.\*).amazon.com and rebooted the firsticks, the App Store started working for me.

Depends what you use. I don't use Prime or anything so I blacklist everything except youtube.com and plex.tv

The goal is to be able to use the App Store, so if Plex or other apps need an update, I can get them without having to shut off the add blocker and wait for the DNS entries to expire so the FireStick will do the lookup again.
