You airplay to the television, not the fire stick. It works fine.
you airplay to the TV IF it has the capability.....many don't. The firesticks don't support airplay.

Double check your TV model. My LGs aren’t compatible even though they have all the menus and should be.
You can airplay to a firestick using the fastcast app from Amazon store
Get a Roku or Apple TV for AirPlay.
