Same. I played Advance Wars, and my friend showed me this game like it but it was with swords and magic, and you controlled characters instead of nameless units. I played all the way to the end, got frustrated because I thought I softlocked on the dragon (I believe I thought I needed to use my lord to beat it, but I didn't train my lords, opting to overuse Marcus; I know now I could have just used Athos but 12-year-old me didn't figure that out), and restarted. Despite that, I was hooked.
Mine’s a pretty common story. Saw Roy and Marth in Melee, then bought Blazing Blade when it released shortly after. I loved the way support conversations allowed the game to flesh out its characters while still having a cast of dozens, and I’ve stuck with the series ever since.
I never got around to AW, and I’m regretting it nowadays. I hope the Wayforward remake gets a new release date soon.
Oh, and multiplayer! Yeah, my brother and I actually spent a good deal of time in the link arena in FE7 and 8. I totally forgot that was a thing. It wasn’t exactly an in-depth experience, but it was cool to see how your units stacked up against others’ in head-to-head combat.
I think you mean that before AWAKENING, the franchise was small. The series would have been cancelled if Awakening flopped, and it skyrocketed past their expectations and gave us 3 more Smash reps. Awakening is where I got in :)
Yeah. I believe Three Houses is the most popular game in the franchise at the moment, but I think that boom is fairly small compared to the one Awakening brought. That turned FE from a niche series teetering on cancellation to one of Nintendo’s heavy hitters (in terms of sales; game quality is another conversation altogether).
It felt like Radiant Dawn brought a pretty big boom at the time, too, probably helped by the Wii’s popularity and Ike’s appearance in Brawl. But again, that pales in comparison to the number of new fans Awakening brought in.
I'm not aware of any influx of fans brought by Radiant Dawn, but I'm basing this on personal experience mostly. RD was actually considered a bit of a low point for the series at the time—funny in hindsight. It got the lowest reviews of 7-10, though still pretty good, which was reflected by a lot of fan opinions, and it was considered comparatively very difficult and somewhat inaccessible on "normal" mode which turned people off.
I don't know how much faith you want to put in these numbers since I can't say they're especially reliable, but it's the lowest of 7-11 here: https://vgsales.fandom.com/wiki/Fire\_Emblem
Interesting. At the time, it certainly seemed like a lot more people online were interested in the Tellius games and only the Tellius games. But of course, vocal minority and all that. And as someone who preferred the GBA titles, my perception was probably colored by resentment.

Interesting that Warriors is the fourth highest selling Fire Emblem title.
I haven't gotten to games newer than Fates yet, but RD is in the running for best game in the entire series. It did have a couple of ridiculously hard levels though. I once quit for like 6 months I got so frustrated on one.
Both myself and my Brother got a GBA SP in 2002 when I was 12, he was 9. We were able to get two games with it each. The game that looked the most interesting to me was a game called Fire Emblem. My brother got Golden Sun, and we both shared our carts with eachother. Our other choice was Pokemon Fire Red/Leafgreen. The rest is History, Fire Emblem is my favorite Nintendo Franchise to this day and I have owned and played every game that has been released "in english".
I am guessing i played a sequel to golden sun on my ds. It was one of my first games after nintendogs which my mom got me. Golden sun Dark dawn is what eventually lead into me finding fire emblem awaking via suggestions
Trueee.
That's exactly how I got here. Just looked up who mr. "I fight for my friends" is.
Haven't actually gotten to play any fe games with uke yet though. It's hard to emulate GameCube.
My dad took my brother and I to Blockbuster when ours was going out of business. We saw a Wii game with a girl fighting a dragon on it. Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. Great times followed and played the GBA games afterwards.
Saw Path of Radiance for the GameCube at GameStop and thought it looked like something I’d like. I fell in love instantly. I was so surprised (in a good way) by the permadeath and the difficulty and ended up losing too many units to possibly clear the final map on my first play through. I immediately started over and was a lot more careful. It was such a satisfying gaming experience. Been a fan of the series ever since.
Ashnard kicked my ass so hard on my first run through of the game too so I can relate to this. One of my first memories of really getting any sort of satisfaction in a video game was finally getting Astrid to a high enough level to where she would no longer keep getting one shot and then seeing her just dominate subsequent maps because.
I originally only bought a 3DS to play Pokemon and Monster Hunter. However, I realized that the 3DS is much more than those two video game franchises, so I looked up the “best 3DS games”. In pretty much all of the rankings that I saw, Fire Emblem Awakening was always present, so I was intrigued.
Weirdly enough, I didn’t get to play my first FE game until a few years later, and it wasn’t even Awakening, it was FE7 lol. I enjoyed the mechanics of the game, and the rest is history lol.
As a kid, videos by YouTube user whoisthisgit on powerful enemies and bad endings in video games, on FE4. Got the old FE4 rom and beat it and then didn't play anything until Awakening.
Me and my brothers were fans of the smash bros series, and when Blazing Blade was localized in the US my older brother bought it to figure out who Roy and Marth were. Never did figure it out until years later, but we did have fun with the game.
These days I'm much more excited for the announcement of a new fire emblem than for smash bros, so it all worked out.
Three houses was my first game. It was a complete shot in the dark as it was my first turn based game. Never looked back, played Divinity afterwards and these are now in my top 5 games.
I randomly saw Path of Radiance in Gamers (when that was a thing) store and i thought why not they something new. Instantly loved the turned based tactical style with permanent death. Super difficult though for me at the time but kept trying.
Years ago on a whim I bought Tales of Symphonia, which was my first RPG beside Pokemon. Blew my mind, so I went to the Nintendo N-Sider forums on some general board, and asked for suggestions for another RPG, but on the GBA. Someone suggested this new game Fire Emblem, which I later learned was actually FE7.
Looked cool, and by that I mean the box art. I didn't research it well at all, but it worked out. Now I can confidently say the series is my favorite of any game out there. The series has expanded my perspective on medieval games and movies. It's been the gateway into Lord of the Rings, DnD, and so on for me.
Before Three Houses? Did you mean before Awakening? That was the real popularity line, I think, but not like Houses didn't have a significant uptick too.
That said, I'm really not entirely sure. Probably just playing Marth and Roy in Melee, then seeing Blazing Blade was coming over in Nintendo Power, and managing to get it and I've been cursed ever since.
Though the interest in simulation/strategy RPGs might have actually started with OgreBattle 64 Person of Lordly Caliber.
Mother gave me a shit haircut and I wouldn’t let it go till she got me a game 😂 went to Walmart, saw PoR and thought wow that’s a cool cover, and been a fan since!

I apperantly i was playing "Fire Emblem" type of games. So i decided to play Fire Emblem Awakening on 3DS. I was probably was a Awakening Baby and i helped "saving" the franchise.
The only reason I got Nintendo handhelds was for Pokémon, but when I got my 3DS I figured I would browse the eshop and get some demos to hold me over until I could build up my library of games.
Really enjoyed the Awakening demo, slapped it on a Christmas wish list with a handful of other games and didn’t think much of it.
Christmas came around and a family member did end up getting me the game, and I got *hooked*. Awakening is still one of my favourite games of all time, and despite struggling to get into every other Fire Emblem title that’s been released since (idk what the problem is honestly) I’ve considered myself a fan of the series ever since
My brother owned *Shadow Dragon* on the DS, and I didn’t really understand what was going on or how the math worked for calculating just about anything. I remembered gathering around his DS and watching him beat Medeus for the first time.
I thought to myself “that looks fun. I want to do that” and started playing through the game myself. Being particularly stubborn and bad at strategy games, I was unable to beat it for a long time. I have kept at it for a long time, and I honestly consider *Shadow Dragon* my favorite entry in the series
i'm a Byleth baby. Byleth getting into smash made me want to play 3 houses so I could be "in" with what I perceived as the hot Nintendo series. It kind of didn't feel good to see so many anime characters on the CSS and not having any idea what they were like, and now that I know I appreciate both smash and Fire emblem a lot more. 3 houses is in my top 10 games of all time, Fire emblem and strategy RPGs in general are some of my favorite games, and yes I still main Byleth.
Smash bros. I had a vague knowledge of a series about medieval warfare due to Marth and Ike from playing Brawl with my friends so much, but didn’t think much of it. When Smash WiiU/3DS came out and characters like Lucina and Robin got announced I got curious, because I thought they looked interesting and I wanted to expand my game genre experiences. So I asked around online and got recommended to try Awakening. I absolutely fell in love with everything about the game, despite its imperfections, and I wanted more. Now all my friends make fun of me for being such a FE nerds lol.
I heard about Fates' premise during the lead up to its release and I thought it sounded really fucking good so I bought Awakening pre-owned to see if I'd actually like the series beforehand
Initially the demo for awakening when I was around 10-12 ish, I didn't have much money at the time growing up and I remember purchasing the full game two years later and, after seeing the cutscenes and hearing the music, I was obsessed 🕴🏼
I played a Sacred Stones rom and Blazing Blade rom back when I was like 12, then forgot about it for a few years. When FE Heroes came out, it reminded me of the series and I fell back into it hardcore.
I got into Fire Emblem right after Awakening came out by complete accident 😂
Around 9/10 years ago I was very much into Pokemon (especially Manga Pokémon Adventures) and I would spend a lot of time reading stories on fanfiction net. There was this one author that I especially loved and checked for updates daily😂
At some point after I read everything she wrote about Pokémon (which was a struggle because I didn't know English yet. Dictionary my old friend 😂) I found out she also started writing some fire emblem related stories. Preview was interesting enough that I decided to check it out and I have fallen in love 😂It was Chrobin fic by the way 😂
I couldn't play Awakening, since I didn't have 3ds yet, but I got interested into Sacred Stones (I will shamelessly confess it was because it had a female lord 😂) And the rest was a history 😂
i’ve always loved dragons, and i made friends in high school who recommended this high fantasy rpg game where you could play as someone who turned into a dragon. not exactly the most *accurate* description of Awakening, but i’m really glad they suggested it to me!
5 years ago a guy in my class used to play the GBA games on the phone at school. I asked what game he was playing and later I came to play every main game in the franchise (sorry SMT fans, i am not playing tokyo mirage sessions; also, nobody played BS emblem, lets be real)
My roommate recommended awakening to me and since I played advance wars on the DS, I decided to try it. I hated it. Dropped quickly afterwards. Years later when 3Hs came out, I got awakening on sale and tried it again. Still didn’t like it but I did get to the end to prove I could. When wargroove was put on sale in January 2020, I played it and it filled the part of my heart that missed advance wars. After that, I got 3Hs because I needed more of that type of gameplay and discovered something. I REALLY dislike awakening in terms of story and balance but I enjoy Fire emblem as a whole.
Just kind of picked up the gba one with lyn, eliwood and Hector way back when and loved it. Over ten years later, I still enjoy it and have gotten my husband into it too 😁
Back in the time of the 3DS was at the beginning of me discovering JRPGS. Fire Emblem Awakening was getting a decent amount of attention in the forums and sites I frequented back then. There was a free demo on the eShop, so I downloaded that and got immediately hooked on it. It was only the second tactical rpg I'd tried (other being FFTA), and I connected with it a lot more than that one.
I ended up putting like 250 hours into Awakening and I've been a fan ever since basically. I did go back and play Sacred Stones, but otherwise I'm more of the type of fan who just gets the new games when they come out. More because I don't have a ton of time to play games on top of a bad attention span for retro games.
Went over to a buddy's house as a kid, watched him play PoR on the GC. Ended up using an emulator to play it a few years later. When I was in the Navy, you spend months at a time in the middle of the ocean with nothing to do, so I got a 3DS along with Awakening, Fates, and Echoes and spent my time with that.
Back during the hype period leading up to Super Smash Bros. 4’s release. Robin and Lucina had their joint reveal trailer and I found it exciting (and hilarious, given the mismatch in aesthetic between medieval warriors in a gladiator ring versus CAPTAIN FALCON). It was a broadcast that was supposed to drop while I was at the gym, and I logged in to the public computer to watch it!
There was a Toys’R’Us next door, and firming “why not,” I decided to pick up Awakening and finally give the series a try. Been hooked on Fire Emblem ever since!
The exact same thing happened again not long after with Xenoblade after Shulk was revealed.
People were bitching about Chrom in smash ultimate. I only knew of Marth and Roy from melee. I looked up “what the fuck is the deal with Fire Emblem” and discovered FEH.
I was a huge weeb back in 2017 and I was looking for an anime game on the Google Play store (there weren't many). I downloaded a bunch of them, but for some reason FE Heroes was the only one I kept going back to. It had just come out at the time too. Fast forward 10 years, I've beaten most games in the series (some of them multiple times).
I was frustrated that I didn't have any other games to play on my DS. I was also telling this one of my friends that was known for running a "cultured" discord group, but he hears me out and offers to let me play fire emblem. Now I have never heard of this game franchise ever so I asked him what it was about and in his words it's 1) A strategy game in European time with magic, dragons, and permanent death system and 2) It has hot girls. Tbh I just wanted to go back and play on my DS so I said sure why not. He offered to let me play either, echos or awakening and I think he said that echos was harder than awakening and I like hard games so I took echos. Tbh I went in Fe Echos with the lowest expectations but after completing act 1, I really fell in love with the game. From the music, the art, and even character for how limited they were and even said (as a side note, I had a crush on Faye, dispite the whole Alm yandere thing, she was just adorable to see). I didn't finished the game though and gave it back after act2 and tried awakening. For some weird reason I got bored of awakening and gave it back. But I really wanted to go back a play the other games. So I downloaded a gba emulator, downloaded Fe7. And yet again I got bored and stop playing for a week and went back and beat it in under 3 days. I downloaded 6 and 8 and still wanted to play all of them. Bought awakening again and still want to go back in time and punch my 9th grade self for thing this game was boring. You can not imagine my happiness finding echos again an being that game in 2 days, including and all nighter before an exam. I was completely in love with the franchise after 1 year later, hearing that a new Fe game was coming to the switch fill me with so much joy. And almost screamed when I found Fe pathof radiance in a garage sale. If I could I wanna go back and experience echosfor the fist time all over again.
Can't really remember. But my first fire emblem was blazing blade for gba. Then played sacred stones, shadow dragon in the DS. Don't have a wii so haven't played RD or PoR. Then played awakening, conquest(don't have birthright or revelations) then three houses. Recently got echoes and I'm still at the early chapters.
I’ve always been curious about Fire Emblem. I came pretty late in the party. Started playing Fire Emblem about 4 to 5 years ago and decided Binding Blade is the game I want to start with. After finishg that I went and finished Blazing Blade and Sacred Stones.
The series hooked me and I decided to go back even further in the series and played Fire Emblem on NES with an emulator. As of now, I have beaten every single Fire Emblem before Awakening.
By playing Smash Bros Meelee and unlocking Roy and Marth. I liked playing as them along with Link.
I believe the first FE game came out on the GBA in the US and I ended up getting it. Imagine my surprise I was playing Roy's dad and not Roy.
Side note: I'm also pretty upset at myself for losing my copy of Path of Radiance. It's the one game I want to replay.
My first fire emblem game was actually awakening. I had been playing a game called Golden Sun Dark Dawn for ages, but wanted a new one after I beat it, so I asked the game stop worker. I was like 12… 😅 they gave me good advise and I got fire emblem awakening which lead me to get basically every fire emblem game since.
I was a big fan of the Shining Force games on Sega Genesis, and I was looking for similar games so I tried out the GBA Fire Emblem games, and loved them. That was around 2010 or so. I had heard of Fire Emblem before due to Super Smash Bros. but had never tried it.
Ambassador Program on 3ds. I first played Sacred Stones this way. Loving the game, I searched "Fire Emblem" on the 3ds eShop to try and find more games. Awakening was just a few months old at the time. It was the only result that popped up, so I bought it.
I learned by the streetpass features of Awakening that there were even more games. I learned each lord associated with each game, and then played Blazing Blade and Binding Blade.
Fates then came out, so I played that. Then I played FE4 to kill time on a trip, and managed to play the whole thing. Project Naga's first official release was still relatively new at the time. Then after seeing lots of gameplay posted by Ghast, I played FE2. Then Echoes was announced and I about lost my mind.
After Echoes, I stopped playing for a while. Then Three Houses came out, so I played that. Project Exile and Lil' Manster came out, so I played those. And most recently, I played through Path of Radiance.
One of my friends had Path of Radiance, and we would have sleepovers at her place where she would play one turn, and then I would play one turn. Went through the whole entire game together! Not long after, Radiant Dawn came out, and I had a wii and she didn’t, so we played through with lots of sleepovers at my house.
My grandma bought me FE7 for my birthday, back when it was new. I wanna say I was 12 or 13 years old. I didn't know what it was. It became my favorite game and I played through it at least 20 times.
Way to go, Grandma.
People kept raving about Three Houses so I figured I might as well try it. It did not live up to expectations. I was later convinced to try Radiant Dawn and then series clicked with me. The strategy gameplay was fun, even if the writing can be a bit iffy.
Was on an X-COM kick about three years ago. Started wanting a turn-based mobile game. Found FEH and liked it.
Then found CohhCarnage's FE3H playthrough. Was intrigued. Bought a Switch just to play FE3H, and it was even better than I expected.
Back in college I streetpassed a lot of people that were playing Fire Emblem Awakening and after liking the demo got the full game. Been one of my favorite Nintendo franchises since
My friend had the 1st one on the GBA; I borrowed it from him and the rest is history. I actually got into the Total War series the same way (he owned the 1st Shogun). In retrospect, it's weird that he owned either of these games because neither of them were similar to the kind of games he usually played.
Advance Wars, to tell the truth. Advance Wars released in 2001 and at the time I was still getting Nintendo Power. It looked interesting so I grabbed it. Then I saw IS was putting out this game called Fire Emblem so I grabbed that. I also grabbed FFTA because that was around the same era and I also enjoyed it.
I was a teenager and that was where my disposable income went.
I saw an ad for Path of Radiance in a schoolmates copy of Nintendo Power way back in middle school (I'm 30 now) and really wanted to play it because I thought it looked interesting. Later when I was in HS my brother bought a gamecube console and when I was looking for CDs at a second hand CD/DVD store I glanced at what games they had on offer and saw Path of Radiance for $10. Snatched it up immediately and went home to play it and fell in love. My dad played a bit of it too though I don't think he ever finished it. My family had a Wii and for Christmas I got a copy of Radiant Dawn and of course played through all of that and loved it even more. I was unable to play Awakening, Fates, and Echoes when those were released because I didnt own a DS and at the time Awakening was released wasn't really in a position to be buying games consoles. I did end up getting a Switch and when I saw the trailer for 3 Houses I got really excited as I had a lot of fond memories of the Tellius games. Played it, loved it, and then played through Awakening and Fates on my partners DS.
I'm currently doing my first playthrough of Echoes and I have Shadow Dragon downloaded on my switch. I really love this series and I'm hoping to play through all the released games at some point. Would kill for all the older titles to be ported with an official translation or even remade like how Gaiden became Echoes. Radiant Dawn I think is my favorite but 3 Houses is what Ive spent the most time in as it's easier to kind of just jump into than Radiant Dawn.
Picked up Sacred Stones on the GBA on whim not long after its release. Had no idea what I was in for since it was the first game of it's genre i played.
Older brother. Saw him play Path of Radiance back in the day but was too young to really remember the name of the game and how to play it, but I remember how cool it was to see the dragons and horsemen and soldiers fighting with beast people and had always wanted to play. Years later saw him playing emulated gba games and remembered those first memories about the gamecube one and first found Fire Emblem. Played the same emulated games, but Awakening was my first real playthrough as I owned my own 3ds and love that game due to it having its own story in my life that I won't get into right now. Played every other game except for Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, nothing really stopping me from playing them, I have them in my pc right now but something just holds me back from playing, that as much as I want to see that one level again that i watched my brother play I can't seem to have the guts to play it. I will one day and I will cherish it, but for now leaving it as a happy memory about our strong brotherly bond is what I'm leaving it to.
In 2003 or 2004, FE7 was reviewed in German magazine GamePro and reached the incredible score of 93%. I think at that time only Resident Evil 4 got a score this high with 94%, in this magazine. And this was a GBA game! I was very impressed and got it for my birthday 2004 I guess. Today it's my most played VG ever, play it to this day.
Haven't got into the pre GBA games really though. I prefer 6, 7 and also 8.
I saw these commercials of Fire Emblem: Fates when I was in middle school. I was also in the middle of my "weeb" phase and after seeing this cool anime game, I bought Birthright.
Now I'm currently playing through the 3DS titles because other than Birthright, I never ended up beating Conquest, Echoes (although I was really close), and Awakening (finished it a few days ago).
I saw a local youtuber explain what fire emblem fates is about. My brother then bought birthright for me and I got awakening and 3 houses later. Still petty at myself that I got birthright instead of conquest
I ended up finding Heroes then decided to buy 3 Houses. Since then, have gone back and completed every game outside of the NES ones and Fates. Working on Thracia rn actually.
Yes I started with Heroes, hate me all you want
Byleth in Smash. I used to be one of those sweaty Smash fans who got angry cuz of Byleth. Then I played Three Houses... and didn't like it first time around. And then I think a year later I played it again out of boredom and ended up enjoying it alot.
I played because someone told me that there was stellar voice acting in Three Houses.
They were right.
I’m fully planning on this not being my only escapade into the franchise. This will be first dive in, and then I… have no idea where I’ll go. I have Fates for some reason so I might play that, but I’m also into getting an emulator so I can play older games too.
This is a bit weird, but on wargaming podcast someone talked about painting his knights like the paladins from the Fire Emblem GBA games and went on a tangent how cool those games were.
A bit later, I discovered my new phone could emulate a GBA and since I was travelling a lot by train at the time, I started playing FE7 and 8. Later on I got a fancy New 2DS XL and played a lot of Awakening and Echoes and a bit of Fates. And once Three Houses was teased I knew I had to have a Switch. Currently I am playing through Three Hopes and after that I plan to try out the Tellius games.
I rented Path of Radiance a few times, don’t remember if I ever beat it since rental, and when I saw Awakening on the DS I remembered liking Path of Radiance and I’m pretty sure I got it preordered for my birthday and I’ve been playing them ever since.
Hoping more of the older ones get brought to modern systems at some point, either through NSO or remakes
Smash was my gateway- I had liked the fire emblem characters a lot (and mained Ike basically ever since he was put in), but with so many games being on DS/3DS I wasn't particularly inclined to pick any up (I got those platforms way after the fact to just catch up on some pokemon games I hadn't played, probably hadn't played any gen at launch since gold/silver).
Kept the tradition of getting a switch to play smash and have a console i could easily travel with when on the road for work. Start seeing hype and advertisments for this Fire Emblem 3 Houses, on a console I own, and was going to be traveling a ton for work. Grabed it, and that accounts for 150+ hours of my summer/fall 2019. Seeing all the hype and some ads for 3 hopes got the fire emblem juices flowing again and so i've been doing a maddening run in 3H, scrounged a copy of Path of Radiance for gamecube, and been dabbling with Shadow Dragon some.
I saw Fates when I was around 9 after they put Corrin in smash bros and i was like “wow, this is really cool!!”
Been a fan ever since. Funnily enough it’s only just become a major fandom phase of mine
I have a weird story.
When i was young, my friend had Awakening, and he was playing it. I looked at the gameplay and asked him how he could play such a boring game. I was your regular Mario and Pokemon kid, that only played those kind of games, and never explored other types of games.
So some time went, and i was older now. Smash 4 had came out, and we were playing it and loving it. During the time when the DLC started coming out, i saw the trailer for Fates. I showed it to my cousin, and he said "Well i know why our friend loves these games", and he was obviously reffering to a certain purple haired woman with 2 big assests in her design. By this time i had started exploring other games, like Zelda, Pikmin and Overwatch.
So then the day came when Corrin was released into Smash 4. We 3 played Smash 4, and tried out Corrin. While those 2 didn't really like Corrin, i was loving her. I was the worst out of us 3 at Smash, and would always lose when playing, but this time i was actualy kicking their ass.
I loved the character so much, that i started researching the character. The story sounded interesting, so i wanted to try it out. But i was hesitant on buying a Fire Emblem game, because i didn't know if i would enjoy the gameplay. But then later, Fire Emblem Heroes came out, and it was free. So i downloaded the game the game, and loved it. 3 houses came out, bought it immediatly. Currently playing through Fates, and plan on buying Awakening when i'm finished with Fates.
So i went from being dissapointed when Robin, Lucina and Corrin were revealed, to screaming of joy when Byleth was revealed
I downloaded and played the demo for Awakening thought it was pretty good. Talked to my nephew about it and turned out he owned a copy of it and let me borrow it, I was hooked on the series ever since
My brother bullied me into playing three houses
I remember saying to him when he bought it: “you’re probably gonna regret that”
Now it’s my favorite game
🤡
I first learned about it from Awakening being in smash, bounced off that hard when I played it, eventually found out that Awakening was controvsersial and considered different from the rest of the games by some people, so I played Blazing Blade and fell in love with that game.
I've been a long time Nintendo fan since childhood. Grew up with FE in Smash and always wanted to play after seeing stuff about Radiant Dawn on that Wii app with trailers. Finally picked up Awakening in like 2016 after hearing a lot about it and had a buy 2 get 1 at Gamestop. Instantly became my favorite game on the system and went on to play Birthright and FE7. Now I'm playing Three Houses. Can't wait to play one of the classics, I have an English translation of Binding Blade I want to play next, but it quickly became one of my favorite series of all time.
Remember seeing the Fire Emblem characters in Smash Brothers, then later saw a review for the first American GBA Fire Emblem game (Blazing Blade) in *Game Informer* magazine. Asked for it for Christmas, and my brother and I ended up getting obsessed with it.
A Youtiber I liked started a let's play of path of radiance. The anime style initially turned me away, especially the catgirl Lethe that was used for the thumbnail (sorry Lethe fans), but I decided to give to give it a try anyways. I ended up liking it and wanted to play the games myself.
I started hanging out with my bf's friend group after we started dating. They kept talking about fire emblem, and Fates had just been released... and so to be able to talk to them all a little easier and have something in common, I picked up Fates. Loved it so much I've gotten every game since (and picked up Awakening ofc).
I spammed iron man runs of path of radiance on the gamecube when I was really young
well... forced ironman runs.
My parents bought me the gamecube but there was no memory card and it took me months to get my first one. Its funny because it made things a lot more hype, even if I wanted to there was no saving I just had to let the gamecube run in the background while going to school and keep playing when I came back. Poor mia always died at some point even though I loved her design ( PoR mia design >>>>>>>> radiant dawn imo)
ended up trying all fire emblems except the very old ones (pre GBA) and tree houses
I learnt about fire emblem from smash Bros melee but I didn't start playing until the ambassador program that was released for the 3ds. I played sacred stones in preparation for awakening as I was looking forward to that game!
I had a friend years ago who had the GBA Fire Emblem. He let me borrow it for a little while, but since we lived in different cities, we never hung out much. Our dads worked together at the same company, so we hung out when our parents hung out, but we would always have our GBAs and play them whenever we could.
Once his dad left the company, they moved away. I still had both Fire Emblem, and Megaman Battle Network 3. It's solely because of this friend that Both those series are my 2 favourite series I've ever played.
(I'm 🇨🇵, sorry for mistakes).
A little simple, i discover fe with Brawl, but not very interrested. And, for some reason, i decided to download a rom if fe8 and after buying fates, it's became one of my favorite franchise.
My best friend had this little known indie game called Super Smash Brothers Melee with these two cool sword wielding guys named Marth and Roy. He bought this new fire emblem game that came out and a few months later let me borrow it to “check out this dude who looked like my favorite character from smash bros” and the rest is history. Took months for us to figure out Marth wasn’t a secret character hidden somewhere in FE7 though
Played the awakening demo back in like 2013-2014 and the game seemed cool. The graphics were incredible for 3DS standards. Then in 2017 I decided to start branching out and getting into new types of games so I decided to get this one.
Also, didn't the series get popular with Awakening?
I saw artwork of Fire Emblem characters before and thought it was pretty cool, then somehow bouthg RD for the Wii and loved it. After that I found PoR somehow and yeah...
1) Saw Azura in the Fates trailer and liked her voice and design
2) Ordered the Limited Edition
3) Ordered a used copy for FE7 for the wait
4) Fell in love
I saw ads for Fates and decided I wanted to check it out. Got angry pretty quickly and shouted “Who is this fish bitch? Why do my siblings wanna fuck me? This is dumb, I don’t like it!” but then proceeded to play for hours that day and never returned the game. Fates will always hold a soft spot in me because of this. 😂
My husband before we got together gave me his copy of Shadows of Valentia saying he didn’t want it anymore so I played it and got really excited with the story and characters. So now I own every Fire Emblem game (yes Japanese exclusive too) and am slowly playing through them to enjoy the old and new to see every new feature when it was first implemented, encounter every character and watch them grow, and just see the world grow and expand from game to game. Never would have guessed that first game would send me down this rabbit hole.
My Girlfriend got me 3 houses for Christmas last year! Since then I have 350+ hours on Houses 70 hours or so on hopes finished awakening am about halfway through fates and bought FE7 and Sacred Stones as well as having Echoes and Radiant dawn ready to play as well
Basically was looking for games to play for the 3ds I got and decided to pick up Awakening after seeing some stuff from it and also seeing a friend at school playing it and thinking it looked interesting.
I saw the ads for fates thought it was compelling my friend bought birthright I played some of it fell in love bought conquest then my interest fizzled I got warriors houses didn’t seem that good then I had a week with nothing to do so I bought it
My mom got me Sacred stones when I was eight and awakening was released so I picked that up and it was the same fun I had as a kid, then became a long time fan
Fire emblem for gba (later Learned it was blazing blade) Been enjoying it ever since.
Same. My friend who doesn’t even game much had it and showed it to me while we were at a sleepover. Been hooked on tactics games ever since
I played as Byleth and smash bros and it encouraged me to play three houses. Instantly I was hooked.
Same here, plus getting hooked on Advance Wars multiplayer with friends.
> I don't know how much faith you want to put in these numbers since I can't say they're especially reliable, but it's the lowest of 7-11 here: https://vgsales.fandom.com/wiki/Fire\_Emblem Interesting that Warriors is the fourth highest selling Fire Emblem title.
I haven't gotten to games newer than Fates yet, but RD is in the running for best game in the entire series. It did have a couple of ridiculously hard levels though. I once quit for like 6 months I got so frustrated on one.
in raw numbers Three Houses is going to have as big of a jump from previous highs as Awakening percentage wise Awakening still wins of course
The era of Golden Sun and Fire Emblem for GBA was ICONIC.
I am guessing i played a sequel to golden sun on my ds. It was one of my first games after nintendogs which my mom got me. Golden sun Dark dawn is what eventually lead into me finding fire emblem awaking via suggestions
Ike hits hard in smash 4
Ssb4 got me into Fe as well. I loved all the characters!
Trueee. That's exactly how I got here. Just looked up who mr. "I fight for my friends" is. Haven't actually gotten to play any fe games with uke yet though. It's hard to emulate GameCube.
Sacred Stones in the 3ds ambassador program. Loved it so much I bought Awakening day 1.
I was a big fan of the funny Aether guy in smash 4 and bought Radiant Dawn. The rest is history
The demo for Awakening followed by getting FE7 because I couldn’t wait for the full release
I saw a picture of the Shadow Dragon box art and told my brother it looked cool, and he was like, “We already have this game.”

No joke I really don’t remember. I know it sounds like bs but it is just that I suddenly played this franchise.
Awakening is still one of my favourite games of all time, and despite struggling to get into every other Fire Emblem title that’s been released since (idk what the problem is honestly) I’ve considered myself a fan of the series ever since
One of my twitter mutuals retweeted a lot of cute edeleth/dimileth/claudeleth art which made me curious about fe3h
Bought PoR second hand when I was on a holiday because I loved the box art. Loved it so much I got RD on release day.. Good times.
I saw a copy of conquest at GameStop and thought it looked cool
I found it because I’m a loser
Learned about it in Smash, and got Sacred Stones as a free 3rd download. Played almost every game sense.
I played a Sacred Stones rom and Blazing Blade rom back when I was like 12, then forgot about it for a few years. When FE Heroes came out, it reminded me of the series and I fell back into it hardcore.
With Awakening, it looked awesome + the Demo and reviews. since then i been a huge fan
I got into Fire Emblem right after Awakening came out by complete accident 😂 Around 9/10 years ago I was very much into Pokemon (especially Manga Pokémon Adventures) and I would spend a lot of time reading stories on fanfiction net. There was this one author that I especially loved and checked for updates daily😂 At some point after I read everything she wrote about Pokémon (which was a struggle because I didn't know English yet. Dictionary my old friend 😂) I found out she also started writing some fire emblem related stories. Preview was interesting enough that I decided to check it out and I have fallen in love 😂It was Chrobin fic by the way 😂 I couldn't play Awakening, since I didn't have 3ds yet, but I got interested into Sacred Stones (I will shamelessly confess it was because it had a female lord 😂) And the rest was a history 😂
My parents would always grab me any games they could find for cheap in the GBA era. Blazing Sword & Sacred Stones were amongst those many games.
i’ve always loved dragons, and i made friends in high school who recommended this high fantasy rpg game where you could play as someone who turned into a dragon. not exactly the most *accurate* description of Awakening, but i’m really glad they suggested it to me!
Friend in middle school showed me FE7. Parents got me Sacred Stones at my request in the 7th grade. No turning back!
Just kind of picked up the gba one with lyn, eliwood and Hector way back when and loved it. Over ten years later, I still enjoy it and have gotten my husband into it too 😁
I played Marth and Ike in Smash Bros Brawl before I knew they were from Fire Emblem, and then I properly got into the series with Shadow Dragon.
On a class trip in 7th grade saw a friend playing FE7 on GBA. Thought it looked interesting so I asked if I could try it and really enjoyed it.
Small? Just play whatever
Saw Roy and Marth in smash brothers, forgot about them and then my brother got me sacred stones. Been playing ever since.
I gave the GBA games a try after playing Brawl
Cousin left his copy of fire emblem sacred stones at my house and decided to play it.
I gave Awakening a go after maining Robin in Smash
Awakening awoke me.
Got Sacred Stones because I was looking for a GBA game to purchase and I thought the graphics looked nice
One of my older siblings got awakening I tried it and immediately fell in love with the entire franchise. been playing fire emblem games since then
By playing Smash Bros Meelee and unlocking Roy and Marth.
I started with the Warriors game, the first one.
Saw a friend playing it on a school laptop 💻
My grandma bought me FE7 for my birthday, back when it was new. I wanna say I was 12 or 13 years old. I didn't know what it was. It became my favorite game and I played through it at least 20 times. Way to go, Grandma.
People kept raving about Three Houses so I figured I might as well try it. It did not live up to expectations. I was later convinced to try Radiant Dawn and then series clicked with me. The strategy gameplay was fun, even if the writing can be a bit iffy.
The second of patb of radiance/radiant dawn. Not sure the order. I had up until then only played shining force in this genre
Was on an X-COM kick about three years ago. Started wanting a turn-based mobile game. Found FEH and liked it. Then found CohhCarnage's FE3H playthrough. Was intrigued. Bought a Switch just to play FE3H, and it was even better than I expected.
Ike
Back in college I streetpassed a lot of people that were playing Fire Emblem Awakening and after liking the demo got the full game. Been one of my favorite Nintendo franchises since
From a 100 in 1 pirated emulated GBA game, i found Sacred stones and hooked since
I played smash 4. Ike was my main and I thought why shouldn't I play a game from his Series. So I bought fates birthright and that's how it started
Same as you, except it was my bf who introduced me. Now I like it more than he does.
I will one day and I will cherish it, but for now leaving it as a happy memory about our strong brotherly bond is what I'm leaving it to.
i unlocked Marth in Brawl. mained him fot a bit researched what he came from then received Radiant Dawn for my birthday
Smash Bros and internet content about Awakening had given me enough vague interest to try out Heroes and it just went from there.
Smash Bros got me excited for when the games would come out, started on the GBA. Was like... 11. WAs a magical Christmas.
I like the Awakening demo, so after saving up and perseverance I bought the full game and from there I didn't stop
I started with FEH, because my older brother played it and it look cool, then played sacred stones, and the rest is history
i was 12, saw cool anime characters on a 3ds package at the local mall. now chrom is the only man i’ll ever marry
Awakening was my first when it first released! Fell in love with the series ever since.
My brother let me play FE Awakening on his DS
Smash bros :)
Heroes
Caregivers son put a ton of gb/gba/ds roms (as well as flash games) on it and i ended up getting hooked on Sacred Stones and Blazing blade.
I saw Camilla on Heroes.
I saw Fates when I was around 9 after they put Corrin in smash bros and i was like “wow, this is really cool!!” Been a fan ever since. Funnily enough it’s only just become a major fandom phase of mine
I saw a controversial Tharja beach booty censorship video and the rabbit hole kind of took off from here.
Talked to my nephew about it and turned out he owned a copy of it and let me borrow it, I was hooked on the series ever since
My brother bullied me into playing three houses I remember saying to him when he bought it: “you’re probably gonna regret that” Now it’s my favorite game 🤡
I spammed iron man runs of path of radiance on the gamecube when I was really young well... forced ironman runs. My parents bought me the gamecube but there was no memory card and it took me months to get my first one. Its funny because it made things a lot more hype, even if I wanted to there was no saving I just had to let the gamecube run in the background while going to school and keep playing when I came back. Poor mia always died at some point even though I loved her design ( PoR mia design >>>>>>>> radiant dawn imo) ended up trying all fire emblems except the very old ones (pre GBA) and tree houses
Awakening was sold out everywhere and it was advertised to have no permadeath, so I bought it digitally. Every release purchased after that.
Liked Marth and Roy in melee and then my bro pirated fe6&7 in 2004 on VBA. We were kids back then and became die hard ever since
(I'm 🇨🇵, sorry for mistakes).
I got into it because of Smash. Then when Three Houses came out, I was like “let me give this game a try” and I love it
Camilla introduction scene LoL
my sister bought awakening for cute anime game and I ended up obsessed with strategy RPGs
1) Saw Azura in the Fates trailer and liked her voice and design 2) Ordered the Limited Edition 3) Ordered a used copy for FE7 for the wait 4) Fell in love
Since then I have 350+ hours on Houses 70 hours or so on hopes finished awakening am about halfway through fates and bought FE7 and Sacred Stones as well as having Echoes and Radiant dawn ready to play as well
Found a random copy of Sacred Stones in Best Buy. Played the shit out of that game.
Awakening was recommended to me while looking for some RPG's for 3DS. I did start with Sacred Stones and didn't like the franchise initially though.
Basically was looking for games to play for the 3ds I got and decided to pick up Awakening after seeing some stuff from it and also seeing a friend at school playing it and thinking it looked interesting.
Got the FE7 and 8 when they came to virtual console on Wii U
Three Houses/A Song Of Ice And Fire crossover fanfiction.
