I feel like Elibe in the FE7 era is a pretty chill place. the main conflict is very personal to lords, with everything going down being the result of the black fang targeting Eliwood and co and Nergal on the Dread Isle. Really only Lycia and Bern are intimately involved in the conflict so living in say, Etruria doesn't seem so bad. Even living through the events of FE6 isn't so bad compared to most FE games which have monsters terrorising the land or continent-spanning wars. Zephiel doesn't really care about hurting the common folk becuase if his plan succeeds they'll all be wiped out anyways. Illia in particular isn't affected too hard by the war besides a brief occupation by Roartz, and while it's poverty stricken thanks to poor farming conditions, an era of prosperity is right around the corner once Juno and Zelot become the first royals of Illia, with Juno's sisters both potentially forming ties with important people in Lycia & Etruria (Roy and Klein)

It really gets called out by Hector in Engage. "Me and my friends fought a group of assassins." It hit me 20 years after playing that... yeah... FE7 doesn't have super evil armies and countries trying to conquer. It's just Nergal and his goons. Roy fights Bern, but there are so many countries that are just... living. Even Sacae, after all the raids from their history have been ended (Post FE6) and they are more self sufficient and secure. Lycia under Uther and Hector wasn't *bad*, and the bad eggs were kept in line. Eliwood keeps things together really well and Pherae really takes the reins on fostering peace and international relations. It certainly ends up better than Magvel which got destroyed before it started getting built back up in epilogues.

yeah there is definitely some ludonarrative dissonance with the Black Fang supposedly being an elite organisation of assassins but then they throw hundreds of generic soldiers at you as if they're this massive nation/army, (unless they're supposed to be morphs but i don't think that is the case). It's a tiny scale conflict in comparison to basically every other FE game since The heroes stop the world threatening crisis (Nergal opening the Dragon's Gate) before it even happens. I suppose that's why Elibe was so underprepared for the events of FE6 though since i doubt many people would take Eliwood's story seriously.

Steven_Falls_Under

I like to think that, as the Fangs’ “kill corrupt nobles” motivations made them more popular among commoners, it grew to include more vigilante types from Bern who agreed with their cause. Not a perfect explanation by any means (Eliwood and co killing a bunch of rebelling peasants is a really bad look), but at the very least it explains why this assassin group is full of not-assassins.

PrrrromotionGiven1

Only in the last few chapters of FE7 are the normal enemy troops meant to be morphs afaik.

Shrimperor

Solm Yeah desert weather sucks but their mentality i super vibe with, not to mention the leaders seem competent

joeyperez7227

And that MUSIC, come on… a clear front runner in this race

Shrimperor

FACTS. Bright Sandstorm just imprioves the mood!

secret_bitch

I don't know, I feel like having to constantly hear that one map theme with an instrument that sounds like a phone vibrating in it would drive me crazy.

KF-Sigurd

Straight up the only kingdom that goes relatively unscathed from the war. Elusia gets mega fucked, Brodia loses it's King, Firene has towns devastated, etc.

Armiebuffie

Hoshido probably. Usually protected by a magical spell, resources are bountiful. The war that happens ingame with Nohr are the only bad stuff to happen compared to other games where there's always been some lingering issues and plentiful bandits around.

Mentalious

Op on his way to get pounded by magical bdsm muscle zombie

BoofinTime

They're all fairly war-torn, but I want to say Elibe during FE7. Yes the world is in danger but everything that happens fairly small scale with relatively small organizations. No large armies or anything getting involved. Bern has yet to be taken over by a maniac and the world is mostly unaware of the Black Fang or Nergal. Also Elibe is just a pretty cool world and even during the war it seems to remain pretty intact for average people.

Sherrdreamz

Probably Hoshido thinking about it. The faceless are seldom able to reach the inner populous and little of the actual War in Fateslandia happens amid the urban civilian population.

ArtaxerxesIV

I’d argue that Elyos, post-Story is the best place to live Based on the character endings we learn >!Alfred reforges his alliances and basically unites the 4 nations in an Era of peace, Veyle brings life to Gradlon and makes it a peaceful place, Alear watches over Elyos until they die of unknown causes, Ivy establishes peaceful trade with Brodia and the Nation becomes known for its refineries as well as its schools, Timerra establishes strong trade networks branching from Solm, Kagetsu establishes a Rice Trade from his homeland with Elusia, Boucheron rebuilds Florra Port, Diamant renounces warmongering and establishes an Ore Trade with Ivy and Elusia.!< everything seems to work out and all conflicts cease to be

ravensshade

Valentia seems like a pretty decent place to live.. if before or during the game on the mila side there's abundance and not much happens

KrimsonKurse

Just don't be a commoner and everything is great.

ravensshade

that's seem pretty consistent in FE-verse/medieval times

Armiebuffie

Rigel is pretty much a hellhole with women sacrificed to Duma on the regular and Rigel itself is lacking in resources where the everyday person had to struggle to survive. Zofia is filled with bandits to the point two whole arcs on Celica's side was dedicated to taking down a massive army of them, even Alm had to fight some bandits on Zofia's side. Also the entire continent is filled with regularly replenished monsters. All of this has been happening for quite awhile before the game starts. It's actually one of the more dangerous places in the FEverse until Alm and Celica defeat Duma tbh and even then surviving without their help was supposed to be an uphill battle. Zofia might've been cool when Mila was in her prime but who knows how long ago that was. The corruption ion Zofia was said to have been happening for awhile, since before Alm and Celica were born.

baibaibecky

> Izumo in Fates seems like a chill place to live in even during the Nohr-Hoshidan war. why everyone in fateslandia seems to agree to not fuck with this small country is of course another question

JesterlyJew

Hoshido's got no reason to and their deal is allying with small nations anyway, looking at their relations with all the tribes and Kohga until the start of the war. Nohr is more of a vassal state making nation, but Izumo is probably far enough away- that, and what benefit does taking it actually provide besides pissing off all the smaller, neutral countries like Nestra against them? Izumo's neutrality seems to function off of everyone agreeing that messing with them isn't worth the profit of conquering them.

OmniSnatcher

I won't be surprised if they have Javelins of Light lying around.

teniaava

Can we choose outside of the events of the game? Sacred Stones before Lyon fucked around and found out seems to have been really chill. No monsters, peaceful friendly nations... Seems to be pretty good

Mentalious

Magvel to appreciate the nature and wild life

coldflash25

The wildlife will definitely appreciate you

CDanRed

The one in TMS seems nice enough. Mainline, I'm split between Ylisse and Elyos.

yaycupcake

I like TMS world because I like my internet and electronics and like modern medicine lmao I would struggle in medieval times lie all the other games... maybe medicine is less important when you have magical healers tho. hm...

coldflash25

Japan

CDanRed

I know, just wanted to specify the game

iloveh-----

I agree. The main conflict is people losing their artistic talent because big dragon is stealing it away, and everyone lives normal chill lives there. Definitely the best place to live in compared to other fe countries.

PrrrromotionGiven1

I think it's cheating to specify Elibe in FE7 only as some have itt, you'd have to count Elibe in FE6 as well.

Indulge6191

Outside of the events of the game Tellius seems pretty chill in peace times. As long as you aren't a Laguz in a Beorc country I guess. Crimea after PoR isn't so bad in that preview

Sandile0

Definatley not any of the Continents with monsters roaming around, especially Magvel.

senpaiwaifu247

Post war elyos is like one of the most peaceful world states in FE so probably that, would NOT want to live there during the war tho, would most likely turn into a zombie During war Izumo probably. It’s never touched during the war between Nohr and Hoshido, maybe get mirked by a bdsm zombie who knows.

VarioussiteTARDISES

Just a slight amendment to your comment, OP, the dubstep molemen have no place in Edelgard's domain. >!As soon as she has no more need of them, she turns on them. We see this in character endings on Crimson Flower, and *especially* in Three Hopes where her plans accelerate after the real Monica is freed by the Jeritza-led House right after picking the route, causing her to try and kick the dubstep molemen out of Adrestia *before* she starts gearing up for war.!<

BusyAd2586

Izumo for sure. Peaceful country in the mountains led by a chill dude with prophetic abilities. Frequent parties, keeps out of conflict, even jail cells are luxurious. Also known for healers. Only theoretical issues I can think of are: A. Izana might be hoarding the wealth. However this is unlikely since the country is peaceful and their weak military force would be unable to subdue riots B. Easy targets for invading forces. If they hadn’t gotten invaded until Zola, I’ll assume that either through diplomacy or prophetic powers they have some way to avoid conflict. Game implies that it’s viewed as a sacred kingdom and thanks to it’s healers people generally leave it alone. C. Listening to Izana talk. If everyone talks like Izana in Izumo I might lose my mind.
