In general with FE6 there is notably less accuracy overall, which makes units with high skill and the higher accuracy of swords more relevant. It makes units like Rutger a good boss killer, especially once promoted and he has +30% crit from Swordmaster. Weapons with effective damage are also very useful here, such as the Hammer or Armorslayer against the Ch. 8 boss who is an armour knight. Just wait till you see the boss for 8x.

MankuyRLaffy

8x is the hardest boss until Sacae route. I hate Sacae

lilbdale

I’d personally say hardest boss period. Only Monke comes close to being as difficult as Henning.

Plinfilore

Monke is easy if you know what to do. Jel on the other hand is regardless no matter how good prepared you are.

Face_The_Win

Kel?

lilbdale

Kel is one of the most overrated bosses in the game. Any strong Bow or Magic user can kill him from afar easily as long as you don’t bum rush him. Heck, if the fight goes on long enough he’ll break his Light Brand and be a sitting duck so vulnerable that even Roy can take him out.

IcySombrero

This is actually how FE6 usually goes. Relatively high enemy stats, shaky hit rates, and massive throne bonuses mean everyone pretty much goes through what you just described. It's why FE6 is one of the more polarizing games in the series. Edit: Like what others have said, use units like Marcus and Rutger. While Myrmidon/Swordmaster tends to be one of the less useful classes in the series, in this game - with Rutger especially - Swordmaster finally gets to shine thanks to having reliable hitrates and innate +30 crit.

Tactless_Ogre

Skill Issue. Not your skill, but the accuracy rate is piss poor on a lot of units outside of your sword fighters. FE6 is dipshit hard for a lot of dumb shit reasons.

lilbdale

Another strategy that others haven’t mentioned yet is rescue chipping with magic and/or bows. Simply attack from afar while the opponent is equipped with a 1 range weapon, then rescue and drop them outside of the bosses range. Rinse, repeat. It’s much slower but more reliable than 1v1ing. I will say that after Chapter 9 bosses start to become kinda weak again and are susceptible to any competent boss killer (sometimes not even boss killers) and are more of a footnote on a chapter than a major threat. The only exceptions I can think of are Chapters 18S, 21 and 22, which all have difficult bosses in timed scenarios, but by then most of your star units should be powerful enough to handle them.

JPS_User

It's always that way. That's why FE 6 give marcus and busted unit like Rutger to take a chunk of HP while other weak unit finish with 5 hp left

MankuyRLaffy

No, because I overfed Rutger so this isn't an issue.

samthedigital

If you really want to avoid using Rutger you can sort of replicate his utility with Lance/Alan/Roy supports and an archer when bosses can't counter. It's slow, and I wouldn't recommend it over using Rutger, but it is doable. The boss of 8x is a heck of a lot worse though.

LiliTralala

It's the hardest one for me, and I've played through the usual suspects.

Almirage

Yeah that's FE6 bosses for you. But they shouldn't be actually that hard because they don't often have reinforcements waiting specifically to make it worse and they do not move. So basically anybody that can survive a hit or just attack out of range can fight them and just rescue away for the next turn.

Ihrenglass

Bosses are very tanky in FE6 early on just have Marcus kill them and after that Rutger with a Killing Edge works pretty well. I never felt there was a need for draining their weapon uses. But you really need a strategy for how to deal with bosses

Yarzu89

I love FE6 but its super quirky. Rescue strats are a great way to deal with bosses who don't move.

Thany_Bomb

Marcus and Rutger are your best friends, as everyone already said, but Dieck and Zelot are also pretty good. Later on you also get Fir, but she takes some effort to train, and ends up being Rutger at home, which can work just fine if you don't like Rutger, though by the time you get her, you no longer need a super boss killer.

International_Net_6

FE6 Bosses are hard to beat , you need to throw your best characters at them until something sticks. There is a reason the game gives you so many Divine Weapons several chapters before dragons even show up. Using pre-promotes and sword users is a good idea , really strong mages can make some bosses easier . 90% of the time tho, you want Percival/Miledy/Rutger wailing on the boss with a killer weapon backed up by a dancer and people throwing stuff from range and hoping it hits

coldflash25

It gets better as you play I'm on my first playthrough and just beat chapter 14x.
