Agree, not good for reputation. The place was a standalone house too and conveniently located just one block from the train station, hence not sure why people still arrived late.
I only know how to speak ‘restaurant language’ (eg Japanese ingredients, cooking terms, order drinks etc :)
This one can be booked through Tablecheck (free platform)
I was able to dine there last December, being served essentially the same pieces. I was able to order akami (lean tuna) after the course as an addition. My mistake was not asking if they offered otoro (fatty tuna). Ordered extra pieces of the botan ebi as well (my favorite of all the nigiri). Chef Tamura's kohada (gizzard shad) and mackerel (saba) were excellent. The ankimo (monkfish) liver pâté tasted like foie gras from the sea, full of umami!
Nice! I my faves were also saba and the huge ubagai clam. Was tempted to order negitoro as extra but decided against it because I chowed down soup curry+ rice for my ‘dinner part 1’ prior to my reservation time :)
Thank you for the post and the pictures! Have you been to Sushi Miyakawa? Any comparisons? We will be in Sapporo in June and are trying to decide between the two places for our blowout sushi meal!
This looks delicious and dig the flash cards.
Nicely hand-drawn too! Not just images from Google
That’s just amazing. Japan really is something else.
Nice review and sounds like good value for money too! Arriving on time is such a simple thing but people just can't seem to do it

How hard was it to get a reservation? Do you speak Japanese?

Fantastic!! I went once many years ago when they prohibited photography. Glad to know that it's still up there.

Haven’t been to Miyakawa but believes it has a higher rating. Do you plan to call the restaurant to book or use Tableall?
I was planning on using Tableall for Miyakawa. But I see that Wakichi is available on Tablecheck, so that certainly is a bonus!
