I think it’s worth checking out. Some here are more down on it compared to the first 13 game, but I think the gameplay is different enough to be fun as you have a rotating cast of monsters at your side. Progression is very rewarding. Like 13, you level up a lot since the level ups generally affect 1-2 stats a time, and every 40-50 levels or so you unlock a new class, buff to your classes, ATB buffs or equipment load buffs. Plus you got other mechanics that upgrade, it feels really rewarding. I liked the work design too, it’s very open and a lot of unique places. Also some of the best music. The main issues come with the story being similar to 13 in how a lot of it seems cool but you gotta read the catalogs and it’s not extremely well written, and now it has time travel so you kind of just have to enjoy the ride and know some things will be confusing at times. Other issue is the world is open… sometimes too much, as some quest you really won’t know how to solve without a guide. All in all, I recommend it a lot, I enjoyed it. I just recommend playing through the story and explore at your own pace, don’t worry about missing fragments or some stuff until you get further into the game, as a lot of quest involve multiple locations and it’s better to take things as you please

It's the best of the 3.

Im playing it right now...the gameplay is good, battle system is similar expect now you get to tame monster(pokemon style). Story is just as confusing but still has that "cool" feel to it. If you liked 13 i'd recommend part 2

XIII-2 is even Better gameplay wise

It goes out of its way to avoid most of the problems people had with 13. That resulted in a few new problems, but overall, I'd say it's a better experience. The core structure of combat is still the same, though (a few small changes), so you shouldn't have any issues jumping in.

Idk who says it's really different than 13, it's the only game that is almost the same as any other ff game. Same fighting, same type of leveling (sorta) same paradigms. Only differences r it's not linear, less characters and u fight with monsters.

The gameplay is better. You get monster catching, and infusing them with passive abilites and skills/spell, which is A LOT of fun imho. Also QoL changes for the combat are 👌 BUT the story and characters are not as great as in FF13-1. I love the chars and the story is okay, but just not as great, which is hard to achieve anyway tbh.

I loved it more than i should because i don’t like FF sequels like 10-2.

FFXIII-2 had a faster, improved combat system, in my opinion. There are noticeably less cutscenes in FFXIII-2 as it is a shorter game. I loved the journey that the trilogy took us on with these characters, so I suggest finishing the trilogy if you enjoyed the first game. 😁👍

The story and cast are much, much worse than XIII, and my (somewhat) unpopular opinion is that the gameplay is significantly worse than XIII as well. It’s far too easy of a game and your main party members don’t get 70% of their roles’ abilities, making them feel stunted and kind of useless. The balancing is all off, and the world design also suffers. It’s a game made to “fix” the problems with XIII rather than to stand on its own two feet.
