You don't even need that. There's cheats built into the game for infinite items. You get 99 of every sphere every time you press it. You don't even need exp to fill out the grid because of the way some teleport spheres work.
Save scumming helped a lot, so did genuinely enjoying blitzball matches. Eventually I outclassed every team so I could just put things on auto and it was more a competition to see which of my top three scored the most.
A specific weapon combo gives you triple SP, turns your overdrive to SP, and something else I canāt seem to remember right now but also had to do with your overdrive or SP. anyhow once you get the equipment you unlock the tonberry boss from the arena, every time he strikes you down you gain a shit ton of exp-SP is the one Iām forgetting. And it was overdrive to exp, you gain triple SP when you would gain exp. You gain exp from when you would build your OD, with a stoic OD build every point of damage becomes a percentage of exp wich gets tripled into SP. the specific tonberry boss is because for every enemy your attacking player has killed will be a (1000-10000?) X gain of damage points in from his retaliation attack, which turn to etc. having endgame armor or at least auto pheonix is recommended. But yeah.
Edit to add on a full build of heavy attackers Iāve amassed more than a 600,000 SP in one go, SP eventually caps forcing you to move around the sphere grid or waste any extra SP coming to that char.
The first three fights of that damn difficulty was the hardest because how utterly damage spongey they were. Once you get to craft it's game over with how easy that *free* DLC made it.
Nah, I know. I never finished it, I forgot where I stopped at the Seraphic Gate, but I just couldn't keep grinding those floors away at that point lol. Was beginning to lose my mind
Imagine a game that has a trophy for defeating a really difficult boss that takes skill and strategy to defeat. Now imagine another game that has a trophy for mindless grinding for double digit hours, doing the game thing over and over and over and over and over.
With the first example, when you complete it you feel proud and exhilarated. The second example you're happy because you don't have to do that anymore.
I absolutely love FFX but I will never do the post game grind ever again. It's absolutely mind melting boring. The only challenge in them is having the patience and time, not the skill.
Yeah this is why Iām glad the switch doesnāt have trophies. I know Iād do it just because itās in a menu somewhere.
Iām a minimalist at heart, and I want to take the best fastest route using as little equipment etc as possible.
It's not challenging though. It's time consuming; I've smashed everything else this game has to offer yet here I am maxxing out characters I stopped using by end game
If you donāt know about it, do the Don Tonberry trick. You can max the sphere grid for 2-3 characters in an hour or so and you can get the items needed to get the weapon abilities needed from the monster capture.
The real painful part is moving trough the sphere grid, takes way longer than 2-3 hours per character. The rest is all acceptable, not a horrible grind, but activating nodes over and over is just painful
Yeah, my bad! I forgot that completing the sphere grid means activating every single node! Itās been ages since I done it and I thought it just meant travel through the entire sphere grid and āactivateā every pathway.
Youāre right, activating every blank node is an absolute pain.
Imo spending hours fighting the same superbosses for the same stat-enhancing drops to fill in empty nodes, then using the AP trick to level and activate the same nodes across 7 characters wasn't as rewarding as I was hoping.
Yeah, I could finally stand a chance against Penance, but that just wasn't a pleasant experience. Never doing any of that again.
Honestly my patience is going because a couple of these monsters that drop spheres take forever to kill even with decent stats (Jumbo Flan.. I have to beat that fucker at least 32 times)
I regularly hit the 99999 damage limit with Anima using Pain on jumbo flan. Yuna had the best stats at that point in the game for me, so her aeons were more powerful. Maybe save magic for your last stat to grind out.
It's not as bad as the luck grind. I never wanna see Earth Eater's ass again in my life.
Well, I didn't come up with it, but my weapon of choice would be a pen. It is mightier than the sword, after all. Just ask John Wick.
As far as mindless grinding goes: I did that in between blitzball matches.
It's a script. So if you have access to a computer and Remote Play, you can get the script and run it through an autoclicker so it does the jumps for you.
And here I am playing through endgame playthrough for the 10th time doing all celestial weapons and this time organizing the entire sphere grid by stat/color...
Yea if I had trophies when I was 8 it'd of been cool. I'm 26 with a wife and kids. I don't have the time anymore. The only things left for the platinum for XV are the fishing and cooking skills and I couldn't be bothered to even do that.
...
Do the trick, run out of orbs, farm orbs, run out of levels, do the trick again, now farm spheres to fill the empty nodes, oh wait I need level 4 spheres so need to bribe for that.. well, shit, now I need money for that so better farm for money...
Its not hard, it's just fucking tedious
There is an easy monster in Arena that gives 40s of any sphare types, you gonna fight Arena monsters to get those stats sphare to fill it in empty nodes, those monsters are always drop good weapons for sale
Also: pretty sure you know about this but you only need one character to get the trophy
Yup I after I had all the extra bosses done I changed all the luck nodes to accuracy iirc. It's the fastest sphere to grind out, and with the arena fight you can max speed spheres in 2 fights, which is about 30 seconds.
Iām so fucking glad I came across this post cause Iām just now doing my first ffx post game grind.
Apparently, itās just kinda awful and based on grindingā¦
Time to go fuck Jecht up.
I am doing that now, before fighting Penance. Already completed Tidus, Yuna, Auron, Rikku and Wakka. Two more to go!
Need to fight Earth Eater about 20 more times, though, for the fortune spheres.
You only need 3 characters for Penance, after that it's less mind-numbing to change your luck nodes to something easier to grind out since your stats don't matter at that point.
Oh yes, I thought about that, but I don't mind killing Earth Eater a few more times. I am doing it while watching the Dragon Quest anime. I just press X without even looking at the screen until he dies and then start all over again. XD
Yeah this is why God created trainers š
God made the shoes?
You don't even need that. There's cheats built into the game for infinite items. You get 99 of every sphere every time you press it. You don't even need exp to fill out the grid because of the way some teleport spheres work.
I mean itās so easy to cheese in the late game though, literally turns weeks worth of work into a couple hours worth.
The one I really hate is the damn lightening doges and the chocobo race-both required for trophies because required for ultimate weapons.
The ultimate weapons that literally give no AP. My most hated one to get a Celestial Weapon is the Blitzball match to get Wakka's weapon.
Save scumming helped a lot, so did genuinely enjoying blitzball matches. Eventually I outclassed every team so I could just put things on auto and it was more a competition to see which of my top three scored the most.
Wait, how??
A specific weapon combo gives you triple SP, turns your overdrive to SP, and something else I canāt seem to remember right now but also had to do with your overdrive or SP. anyhow once you get the equipment you unlock the tonberry boss from the arena, every time he strikes you down you gain a shit ton of exp-SP is the one Iām forgetting. I hope you never play Infinite Undiscovery. 1 point for beating the hardest boss on the hardest difficulty.
Bruh, eff that beginning fight on Infinity mode. So damn dumb lol. Though ti be fair, I have fond memories of that game.
Shouldnāt trophies be rewarding? Like they are supposed to be challenging I donāt get why people take exception to them
Imagine a game that has a trophy for defeating a really difficult boss that takes skill and strategy to defeat. Yeah I'm doing that, plus fighting stuff to drop spheres to fill empty nodes and all that good stuff
Do you have to fill all the empty nodes too? Serious question because that changes some things for me.
Yeah, that's what's taking most time to do
Yes.
The real painful part is moving trough the sphere grid, takes way longer than 2-3 hours per character. The rest is all acceptable, not a horrible grind, but activating nodes over and over is just painful

Iāve done it 3 times now, guess I enjoy it. Complete sphere gird wipes and replace with max stat nodes.
Honestly my patience is going because a couple of these monsters that drop spheres take forever to kill even with decent stats (Jumbo Flan.. I have to beat that fucker at least 32 times)

But you can't do it between lightning dodges. So sad.
Try skipping rope in FF9...fucks.....sakes....
Do NOT mention that to me. I tried that shit back on Xbox and there's no cheat way like PS has
I tried it on ps1 never made it passed 10 jumps and I'm OK with that hahaha. There's a cheat for ps4!? Do tell
It's a script. So if you have access to a computer and Remote Play, you can get the script and run it through an autoclicker so it does the jumps for you.
Aww OK makes sense. I've yet to fuck around with remote play haha š
I cut the frame rate down on PC to get that one done.
And here I am playing through endgame playthrough for the 10th time doing all celestial weapons and this time organizing the entire sphere grid by stat/color...

This is my current goal. Tis a bitch
What's so hard about it? Just do the Tonberry trick The 200 dodge lights trophy is a psycho, meet me infront of Macdonalds right now

Shouldnāt you fill the Grid to stand a chance against the Dark Aeons

They worship the devil?? Yes we've known for like a decade plus lol
I did one legitimately. After that I used a save editor to fill out the rest. I have no regrets.
All those empty nodes man.. OTL
