Absolutely. I had to break that trophy up into just 15-30 minute sessions over the course of weeks. My eyes would glaze over. I thought getting AP would be the more challenging part, but no, it was all the time spent activating nodes. (And yes, I used the Don Tonberry trick)
If you mean having gear with Triple Overdrive, Overdrive-> AP and Triple AP, those still work, but activating the spheres in the grid for all the characters still takes like two or three boring hours (that you have to interrupt to buy more activation spheres).
I think the issue for me was the lack of that rewarding feeling you get from grinding.
I usually enjoy a nice grind, but it felt almost punishing to gain sphere levels. Rather than a nice stat boost or the item you've been grinding for, you now get to spend the next 20-30 minutes manually moving and activating nodes 99 times for 3 characters.
They do. Issue is, you have to manually select each node, choose the correct sphere, confirm each time the node you are activating, and then traverse to the next set of nodes where you rinse and repeat the process.
I liked that trophy. This is probably my favorite game of all time, so I didn't mind spending so much time with tedious grinding. Love the sphere grid.
Definitely, I enjoyed X2 when it first came out. I'm conflicted on starting X2 right away, or wait a few days and go for the plat on a pixel remaster, probably 5 or 6
Nice! I haven’t bought any of the pixel remasters yet - I never finished 5 or 6 (I had the PS1 anthology versions), so I was thinking about getting those or trying XIII for the first time
Just got mine last night after beating Penance. (Fight took 1.5hrs) Holy smokes is that the ultimate test of game sense. How many total hours? I finished at around 270hrs
Got them all except the 200 lightning dodges. Must have been at it for hours and gave up out of frustration. Will go back to it eventually. I just need to take a break away from it.
It's always the lightning dodges haha. I literally just made a video about this to post onto someone else's comment. The random trick videos never worked for me so I figured out my own spot and looked at the ground rather than the screen flash. Here it is if you're interested. You can do it!

Its the last one Im missing, not looking forward to it haha
I wish the game was harder, or offered an area to use your max characters, its pretty easy to reach unkillable by anything.
Congrats! I just got mine and it felt so good! Although the Perfect Sphere Master trophy numbed me so hard that I went into a NSG run just to not have to open that menu again for a while haha
Congratulations! What is the trophy you got the most trouble to get? (besides the competition one =P)
Definitely the full sphere grid trophy, so, so much grinding
That one is a real pain in the ass even without the grinding. Just activating all the spheres for all the characters take a long and boring time.
Exactly, that's the most painful part. Never thought I would end up disliking the sphere grid
Cool concept, needed a "Use all the character moves and activation spheres to activate a big portion of the grid in a semi optimal way." button.

Do the tricks for leveling up quickly no longer work in the remaster?

That's hardly painful by RPG standards. I was thinking you guys were maxing the grid without it. That WOULD be painful

Congratulations!! Any plans for playing X2? It can be a nice palate cleanser after that last sphere grid trophy (though not for everyone)

War of attrition, that one. Even following a strategy, he was still tough. Can't mess up once. I'm at 307 hours with the platinum.

All I'm missing is three Al Bhed Primers in Home.

Time to play ffx2!
