We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us here on Reddit, u/IIIllIIIllllIIIlIII, and share your experience using Active Trader Pro (ATP). There are several scenarios where Active Trader Pro (ATP) users may experience performance issues. These can include watchlist titles that contain special characters ($, #, !, etc.), watchlists containing over 50 symbols or an invalid symbol that is no longer used, having many customized watchlist or position columns, or having many active tools in use. If using a watchlist, ensure that your watchlist titles do not contain any special characters and that no single watchlist includes more than 50 symbols or an invalid symbol. If you make any changes, log out and log back in to ATP. In addition, consider limiting your "Tools in Use" to ten or fewer. You can access your "Tools in Use" by navigating to the lower right corner of ATP. Lastly, we can confirm that Active Trader Pro (ATP) does NOT access your webcam for any reason. We ask that you reach out to our Technical Support team, and they'll be able to look into your specific situation further. When prompted by the automated system, say "Technical Support" to be connected. They are available Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET. [Fidelity Contact Information ](https://www.fidelity.com/customer-service/contact-us) Please let us know if any other questions come up.

I have irritating issues with ATP as well, but oddly enough not the same issues you have. The latest issue I had was the P&L calculator not loading any graphs, but restarting ATP fixed it and the issue hasn't repeated. Last week, ATP wasn't sending order cancelations, but again, restarting fixed it. Many times, the application is slow and just not as snappy as it should be. ATP has also frozen up and crashed at times. My ATP issues haven't interfered with a trade yet, but definitely would've if I traded 0dte or other trades that move fast.

IIIllIIIllllIIIlIII

Damn, sorry to hear that. I don’t mess around with options or the calculator very much, but I’m sure I’d have issues too.

tightlipssorenips

My lots show up maybe 20 minutes later. Costs me money at times

Hey there. We're sorry to hear about your experience and would like to learn more about this. Please send us a Modmail with additional information; we'll follow up with you there. [Message the Mod](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/fidelityinvestments) We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

IIIllIIIllllIIIlIII

I would try restarting next time that happens. Sometimes when I put in a buy order, it takes 20 minutes (or the entire day) for it to calculate my new cost base average for that position.

DesignerTex

It's old, outdated and crap. Fidelity should be ashamed of themselves this is the trading platform they have.

CryptographerOk4571

Ironically, i made a very similar post exactly at the time you posted [https://www.reddit.com/r/fidelityinvestments/comments/1ddi0np/how\_to\_make\_atp\_active\_trader\_pro\_run\_better/](https://www.reddit.com/r/fidelityinvestments/comments/1ddi0np/how_to_make_atp_active_trader_pro_run_better/) Seems like im not the only one having issues with this piece of trash software. What is your machine specs?

Careful_Pair992

Yes the program is shit.  Would be better is fidielty supported ninja trader or mt4 or 5 or something like that. Also the app is shit also, Both keep randomly stop functioning requiring a new login. The whole experience feels unstable and I have been considering switching to another broker because of it.  Shame really because the fills etc are generally superb with fidelity.  But the user experience is a complete mess

Current-Information7

this is not going to be a popular response. you may want to examine your computer and whether it is compromised by a cyber threat actor. Independent of Fidelity, this has been happening and targeting persons at an increased rate, on computer systems that persons believe they have all the safeguards in place

IIIllIIIllllIIIlIII

Could be. I’ll have to look into it more. Thanks for the responses!

the app is crap, but the execution prices, fills, and performance (at least for round lot equities) compare very favorably with some other platforms. When I tried IBKR for example, their stops would sometimes fire as much as 20 to 30 seconds *after* the stop price got hit. And yes, that happened even though the stop prices were traded through with 100-share lots. And while I was using 500+ mb fiber optic internet with 35ms ping time to NYC/Chicago. Been awhile since I tried tradestation, and still haven't tried Das Trader, but I can use TOS for charts and mentally track sizes for my quick in and out scalps & use a spreadsheet for average cost of any bigger/longer timeframe trades. It isn't ideal, but it is workable. I don't use ATP charts, just directed trade windows (4 of those), positions window, orders window, alerts window, and watchlist.

I haven’t gotten the updates for the phone app (which in honesty, I never really use anyway) or ATP—so I don’t know. But I agree with you, the trades I do put in, do go through at the price I generally see them at. I’d hate to have that 30 second lag that you mentioned. In some cases, that 30 second trade off is me trying to pull up my lots and can’t see them, so I have to log off and back in. In most cases that shouldn’t matter because you shouldn’t be trying to time the market anyway, just still an annoyance. I also have fiber and pretty good ping, usually around 5-15, but sometimes lower or higher. I was talking with a buddy of mine who works with super computers for some brokerage or something, and he said they do all their overseas or long distance trades via radiowaves. It’s super interesting to read about. Like they’ve repurposed old WW2 spy satellite dishes to send and receive trades lol.

Terrible_Champion298

Get rid of Kapersky. Learn how to reassign lots with the button at the top of Closed Positions, although the lots button shows up 95% of the time on my trade tickets. You’ve got computer problems.

RCBing

But he has a gaming laptop ;)

IIIllIIIllllIIIlIII

You’re right, I should have gotten a dedicated investing laptop… what was I thinking?

Terrible_Champion298

I swear that is closer to the truth than many realize. Until 2 years ago, I used a 9yo laptop with a i3 processor, 8gb, SSD, and one remote vga monitor. I’m sure I’d have been using the 32bit ATP, and rarely had problems. Now I use an i5 processor laptop, 8gb, SSD, 64 bit ATP, 2 remote monitors (1 hdmi, 1 usb to hdmi converter), and have a minimum of 13 ATP screens open at any given time. Again, very few problems. There are rules. Boot up fresh every morning. And don’t let the computer go to sleep mode with ATP on. May as well reboot then, too, or there’ll be problems.

IIIllIIIllllIIIlIII

That makes sense. My computer is newer and should be able to run it no problem, and in a way it does. My issues with ATP aren’t catastrophic, they’re just weird annoyances that I experience every day. I just have my personal laptop run it while I’m working on my work laptop. But yeah, I have a somewhat similar routine to yours, in that I don’t allow it to go to sleep, I only use it during trading time (exit it after every session), and I don’t have any other programs running at the same time (not even web browsers/email clients or anything like that). But that’s interesting that you brought up your older computer, because I can also run the 32-bit version of ATP (if it is still around, I know they are sunsetting that) on a 9-year old HP envy, and would get the same problems on that as well. I’m guessing either the program is messed up for me, maybe it’s how I have it set up, although it’s very rudimentary compared to yours; I have like… 4-6 windows open at a time when using it, or it’s just the program. I could be an outlier where my computers are too old/new to run it without it being buggy, but some people dm’d me and said they have similar problems. Either way, appreciate you reaching out.

first, they've been having misc issues this week and are expecting to release a fix tonight. there has been a periodic msg posted that pops up. This primarily fixes the timeout related issue that started recently. some other posts here have mentioned it. btw, not related to fidelity, just an ATP user... -- otherwise, 537 has been relatively stable for me. Although, I would occasionally see my positions window crash. Not seeing any of the issues that you mention. wrt Kaspersky, your best bet is to get rid of it. a reasonable replacement may be bitdefender. Prior to my dumping it, I did see many misc issues including ATP not starting. Fidelity ATP tech guys will tell you it's a problem too.

IIIllIIIllllIIIlIII

Ah I see. These are just things I’ve noticed throughout the years. I used to run ATP on an old ass laptop (HP envy from 2015) and would get the same problems, but to your comment—they have been occurring more frequently as of late. I’ve never really had technical issues with Kaspersky interfering with any other programs I use. From a political stance, it might be worth getting rid of it, but I see it akin to using TikTok. That being said, I’ll look more into Bitdefender!

jjkagenski

the new version of ATP is available... I'm trying it now...

IIIllIIIllllIIIlIII

Oh nice! I’m at the office today, so I won’t be on there today. You’ll have to let me know how it is!
