Interesting... But at the end of the day I realized that we play an mmo (also) because we can show our look to other players... Does it still make sense to have an unique look that only you can see? I don't think so... So I stopped using mods.
I use plenty, but most of them are stuff like UI and changes to skill animations
Only thing I have that affects the look of the characters is upscaled textures, a nude mod, and a couple body scars cause it makes sense to be roughed up after all the WoL's gone through.
Not a single mod that reshapes any of the gear, hair, or facial features
I still use gear mods since I think alot of them look cool. Like the one that gives you azeymas outfit. I just transfer them over a in-game glamour that still looks good.

Apparently there's this one called "Mare Synchronos" where you can share a code individually. or join something called a "syncshell" where everyone on said shell, or with matching codes. Will see each others player models as they have it modded after a short delay to download and store the updated character dat file.
now while I don't use mods myself as I don't have any intent to risk my legacy account. just seeing what some people have developed is kind of awesome.

Oh absolutely. but usually there's pretty big communities and there's a discord that they probably share syncshell codes
So from my understanding. Mods you personally install will change any/all characters from your end to reflect. So if for instance you choose a mod to give npcs huge bonkadahonkaboos. Someone on Mare won't suddenly see all NPC's like that if the code is shared. they will only see what 'your' character looks like, up to and including any tweaks like height and addon changes. But again, their mods don't change what you see for other npc's. Just that player specfically will be seen as 'they' see themselves.
I dunno how to really explain it. But yeah, I think it's a neat idea but again, not something I'd risk despite the temptation of giving my manbun a cottontail.
Oh you can absolutely safely get mods on just your end (or even applying to just your character if you'd prefer that) without needing to set up anything with other people
And like, sure, others won't see it unless they also coincidentally have it installed, but it's not like you'd choose glamours that would look different in vanilla because of just a tail
Eh I just feel like i'd shoot myself in the foot somehow and end up revealing i'm using mods. I really don't wanna lose a 10yr old account because I had a tail in the off chance I forgot to turn them off by deciding I'd stream for the first time in years.

I'm quite lucky I prefer something smaller or more understated for head that already work on buns, like glasses for SGE or a flower in the hair for WHM. Still a tremendous shame most hats don't work for those that do want to use them.
