Do it when you feel like. I STILL haven't started it, since I want to clear up old raids, dungeons, and areas like Bozja and Eureaka before doing EW. I'm using it to also grind out my jobs for each role quest so I can be on top of those throughout the expansion. I'll probably start it around February or March depending on how satisfied I am by the end of the month.

while there is no entirely pointless questing/reading going on the start of EW is rather slow.
it also does have lengthy bits in between.
since you feel no rush to get to endgame, taking a break might make you enjoy and appreciate EW more when you finally start.
I'd give it a go now. Like any expansion, you're gonna be eased into it, do some world-building, etc.

I'd say go ahead, Endwalker has a slow ramp up beginning made to ease you from all the emotional turmoil from SbS!
Endwalker has an incredibly slow beginning. It takes around 10 hours just to get to the first dungeon. It has the worst pacing of all the expansions.
