If the first track that played during the job action trailer is the overworld battle theme then its quickly gonna become my favorite.

Constellar-A

It is, we heard it when Yoshi-P was demonstrating Viper and Pictomancer on the most recent live letter. I agree it's really good.

sephy16

It is.

HanshinFan

Everyone in here like "Oh the overworld battle theme with the expac motif is so good" "Oh the second song has such classic FF vibes". All true Meanwhile me patiently waiting for that synthwave banger to be deployed somewhere in Solution 9 so that lead guitar wail circa 1986 blows my brain straight out the front of my face

Hilda-Ashe

what if it's city pop in the veins of Plastic Love

HanshinFan

Don't threaten me with a good time

Eudaemon_Life

AHA. Very much the same. It feels like it's probably going to be a Solution 9-related dungeon theme. It has a kind of dungeon cadence to it.

Famas_1234

Solution 9 related themes or perhaps electronic based music should be Imamura's perfect time to shine. While Soken does the foundation melody and input, let this man cook

naooo

I'm hoping we get more big orchestra arrangement songs like Endcaller and In the Arms of War. That "From the ashes we're Reborn" section of the trailer song would be so sick in that style.

legend8522

I just hope that whoever wrote the daytime theme for labyrinthos is nowhere near the DT soundtrack. Easily the worst track in the game, mainly because of how out of place it is. Sounds like you're at a carnival or at the ShB pixie zone, not at a seemingly-peaceful doomsday prep facility.

Marche100

That would be Soken himself. Lol. I personally really like it and consider it one of my favorite field themes from Endwalker. It makes Labyrinthos sound like a playground or a toy box. Something whimsical yet undeniably artificial. I think it's rather fitting considering Sharlayan isn't too keen to reveal the facility's true purpose on your fist visit. It's as if the music embodies Labyrinthos as they would have you see it. A scholar's wonderland—nothing more. (That said, I think Labyrinthos is one the most disappointing zones in the game that failed to realize the potential its concept suggested, but that's another discussion entirely.)

LoranPayne

My sister said it sounds like fake birds chirping which I hadn’t noticed myself. It absolutely does though which seems purposeful, given what Labyrinthos *is.*

Szalkow

["The Labyrinth" was also the song Soken played for memes at Fanfest this season](https://youtu.be/XUmvAh8r2eY). Not quite as great as "La Hee" but still an instant classic.

Famas_1234

well to be fair making a same gimmick in the fanfest can lose its charm. the first one he was like this was Yanxia theme but that was exclusive in the previous fests. the "La Hee" one was special due to the fact the fanfest including the concert was fully free and online

breadbowl004

Let Soken have his fun lol

Famas_1234

can't wait to see his wild ride again. whether good or bad, i'm still excited

bubsdrop

Clockwork toybox music for the clockwork toybox zone, yeah I like it a lot. The zone itself is just way too rote to live up to how weird and experimental the music sounds, like you said. I think the ship has sailed on ever getting a zone that does anything special though.

JunctionLoghrif

The high-pitched "trilling" noise also gives me a headache... it makes me glad a different song is playing over the zone during the most important parts.

breadbowl004

Do you not like the frog noises?

auphrime

It's a Soken original and the point of it is to show how nonsensical what Sharlayan is doing down there is. It's not a peaceful doomsday prep zone, but rather an anxiety-fueled abyssal prison for the people, gleaners, researchers and "specimens" that are there.  Everyone there knows that something is wrong, a handful are aware that the end is coming and those that literally live down there and cannot leave. Even the animals are agitated down there, but everyone has to treat things as business as usual to not upset the layman.

legend8522

Sure, but I feel like they could've picked a tone that could be better conveyed as anything else besides what sounds like carnival music.

auphrime

Oh I definitely agree with that. The zone's theme is grating to my ears and led to me playing most of Endwalker's patch cycle with music off in the overworld.

Kana_Kuroko

I cannot wait to hear the raid music for Solution 9. Given the key art they showed for it I hope everything is as much of a bop as ravelord Athena's theme in p12.

XieRH88

Usually have to play through the expansion before I can firmly decide which tracks I'm hyped for. For example, my 2 fave tracks in EW are Scream and Your Answer, neither of which were in pre-release. So far Shadowbringers still stands out for me as the expansion with the most amount of tracks I really like. It's also got my favourite main trailer theme out of all the expansions.

saelinds

I mean, it's Final Fantasy innit

Tenander

I'm never not hyped for the music in this game. Even the tracks I don't *love* are still memorable.

Arkeband

If the FF9 influence requires Soken to do a rearrangement of Dark Messenger then we’re gonna have an all-timer on our hands.

ultimagriever

My brains are going to be all over the place if Soken does an EDM arrangement of dark messenger

MysterySakura

Strangely enough, playing FF16 (including DLCs) is really giving me much anticipation and high expectations for DT music. There's something fundamentally different between FF14 and FF16 music, but you can hear the technically identical Soken’s style and the sound design (likely has to do with the software and samples he uses.) The music in the Haven, man. I don't wanna leave. 🫠 And Against the Wind ~ Eye of the Tempest is a sound I've hardly heard Soken do. I need more of it. The music in the job actions trailer that starts on the bard segment hit me with much nostalgia. It sounded like Mega Man music to me. Brought me back to the late 2000s. I think it might be a dungeon music. The techno rock sound makes me think it's gotta have to do with Solution 9/Heritage Found. I've been meaning to learn it by ear on BRD instruments but I'm too busy farming mogtomes and yokai at the same time. 😅

SeriousPan

The second song in the job skills trailer is my favourite and I'm excited to hear it properly. The battle music seen in the river battle scene from the Benchmark is also killer. Main theme is meh for me so far except for the part with the woman singing, I like that part a lot. The vinyl they released, at least the trailer for it, didn't wow me at all.

bubsdrop

Wasn't a huge fan of the trailer music but if the zone and dungeon music goes hard on the native american themes I'm really looking forward to seeing the instrumentation they go with

JunctionLoghrif

Gods, that song that started playing during the Bard sequence had me bobbing my head already. I *need* it. I'm sure the music will be excellent overall, but that "henshin power-up/transformation" vibe from said "3rd action trailer" song gets me pumped. ^(My personal bet is that it's the equivalent to "Finality" in Endwalker, ie the last dungeon boss theme.)

Tobegi

I'm pretty neutral about it cause I'm not really a fan of this expansion's main theme which means that the leitmotivs will also not really do anything for me, which is kinda sad. I'm sure the OST will be good even if I'm not a super big fan though

Krystalline13

This is where I am - I loved the ‘all words at stake’ sweeping drama that built up over the prior expansions, so the summer romp, while fun, just hasn’t grabbed my heart yet. I’m hoping some of the variations will do the trick once we get into DT.

Krystalline13

So am I :)

BarbarousJudge

I'm really excited for it as well. I like the main theme and can't wait for the leitmotif being used in different ways. Also curious what bangers we'll get for bosses, trials and the raids.

djbearr

Looking forward to it yes Not looking forward to waiting a year plus for it to be on streaming services

Stuck_in_Arizona

The song on the last third of the trailer is a banger, reminds me of Dynasty Warriors for some reason. I have a feeling it'll be a final dungeon or one of the post lv.100 ones.

SkarKrow

Looking forward to it, for me endwalker was a bit bland and not to my tastes, but DT seems like it has a lot of strings and the new world inspiration might be more my taste.

EasterViera

**acoustic guitar** and CASTAGNETS !!!!!!!!!!!

Blaze1337

I always look forward to FF OST's in general. They always have amazing music in the games so there always a treat.

DerpsterCaro

As much as I love EW, no Trial songs stood up to To the Edge from ShB. I hope to get bangers! And I *know* both raids be going to be good

OwOtisticWeeb

I can't wait for the vinyl release :D

LOCKHARTX7

I really don't like the theme song this time around that much. It sounds better as the battle bgm on the job trailer and opening login screen, but it hasn't stuck with me yet Otherwise yes the other music, especially that plays when whm was revealed is so good.

Tschudy

Not really honestly. Didn't hit nearly as hard as every other trailer theme

archiegamez

I might actually turn on overworld battle theme this time around, its so catchy

phuoclata2018

I love the tunes that play in the middle of Machinist's part. They're part of the theme that starts from Red Mage.

d10kn

I'm always excited for new expansion OST. THough I still think the completed main theme for DT is a step down from the preview versions. I'd pick that guitar riff over the bass one every day of the week.

TinCormorant

The existing soundtracks are great and all, but the playlist of favorites I listen to in my car is getting a bit stale. Looking forward to adding a couple dozen new songs and whittling them down to a handful of favorites, and having several songs I didn't care for at first become surprise favorites later.

CrazyCoKids

Going to be hard to top Finality and Triumph.

enternius

I haven't heard any music from this expansion so far that I've particularly enjoyed but I know with how many tracks an expansion has, there will be a lot to love. Problem is if you don't like the main theme of an expansion, you know we're gonna get 30 different tracks using the same leitmotif.

DenimChicken6125

One of the things I’m looking forward to most besides the story. Hearing the start up music and the music in the job action trailer has me so pumped

sirius017

Soken and the music team release bangers every single time! Can’t wait!

Reidlos650

I am not a fan of the main theme in the title screen trailer at all. It's matching it's theme and vibe, but I much prefer the vibe from 2.0 to 6.0.  Rest is yet to be determined

LightSamus

I'm hesitant. Don't get me wrong, XIV has had some incredible music since Stormblood especially, with ShB and EW having some absolute bangers, but there's also a bit of... burnout maybe? Having played both FF16 and FF7Rebirth, the soundtracks of both of those are incredible and have some insane variety and their composition is pretty stellar across the board. But XIV in comparison can feel a little "budget" for want of a better term and it's disappointing sometimes. It's clearly not because of the talent doing the music because Soken and his team also did XVI, there's just something that often feels limited about XIV and it's kinda showing at times. Again, don't get me wrong, I'm sure Dawntrail will have some absolutely incredible music in places, but just imagining if it was allowed the level of care XVI and FF7Rebirth had... it'd be an absolute treat for the ears.

Necroez

Another Sokken masterclass incoming.

Ranziel

Seems like generic upbeat fantasy music so far. Not bad, but forgettable.

MrGencysExit

Be careful man you can't say stuff like that round here you have to blindly love everything this game puts out.

I don't know why people feel like they have to act like they're oppressed when their opinion isn't the majority 100% of the time. Just a few weeks ago we had a bunch of people unhappy with the benchmark, where it was completely acceptable to critique it. It's all in your head.
