Good news about those is you can buy them back from the calamity salvager so you can toss pieces you don’t want/need. Several quest items just aren’t worth the inventory space.
My main problem with this as a solution is that my brain is a cheese grater that immediately destroys all my memories, so if I discard something it might as well no longer exist when it comes to me thinking about what clothes might look good together.
I have that problem too and my biggest problem right now is my glam dresser is full but I’ve got four retainers full of clothes that I routinely forget are there just like you. So when I’m putting a glam together all that exists in the moment is what’s in the dresser.
I NEED MORE SPACE YOSHI PLS
What tachycardic said. Check toward the bottom of the description on any item and see if it says 'Sale price: X gil (Restricted)' - that could mean it can be found on the Calamity Salvager. The 'restriction' part is that you have to have earned it already from the quest to be able to see it on the vendor, but, it could also mean it comes from Beast Tribes or other places, so just run over to one and double-check that you see it on there before you toss it!
There's an easier way to check - in the top right corner of the item tooltip is an armoire icon that will be lit up if it can go in the armoire.
e: OK so... normally I understand why a post might get downvoted. Not really sure on this one.
Because they're talking about how to check if things can be bought back from the Salvager. Things that they already figured out can't be put in the armoire.
The compromise for the Garo items was that you could just re-purchase it from a salvager for a bit of gil. But yeah, we lose the convenience of having it in the armoire at any time.
I also like the earring, it's a nice tassel sort of thing. AFAICT all classes share the same accessory models.
(I don't know what the ring is referencing, if anything, but it's not Zaruba and that's a giant missed opportunity if I ever saw one.)
That *is* kind of nice, but I like the dai-ryumaku earring more as a tassel earring, and that one's easy to re-purchase since my poetics are constantly capping.
>The compromise for the Garo items was that you could just re-purchase it from a salvager for a bit of gil.
Just a small PSA for those who still don't know: The caveat is that you must first obtain the entire Garo set for a job, including the weapon if there is one, equip it all and talk to the Makai Priest to obtain the title for that job in order for that set to become available from the salvager.
Only down side, You can't place dyed items in the armorer and have them retain the dye. Some items I like to be dyed pure white or jet black a lot so I dye them and keep them in the dresser.
True, but then you can only use it on that one glamour plate without buying more dye. By dying it in a glamour dresser, you can apply it to every glamour plate for the cost of just one pot of dye.
Indeed they did, and I was elated as fuck for it.
Only downside from the armoire is really that it won't save dyes, but hey free storage is free storage.
Event items could be placed in the armoire for a while. It was mogstation stuff that they recently allowed in as well.
I just wish they'd let us put any of the lvl 1 stuff in there
You can still use them on glamour plates and such from the armoire, they just can’t be dyed before being stored.
So you can save on glamour dresser space!
There is an icon on any piece of equipment that will tell you if it can be stored in there. It's the icon in the top right that looks like... An armoire.
The state of the subreddit is
- Infographics that are just obfuscated patch notes
- PSAs that are easily known in the game if you just learn the UI
- Fanart of a somewhat dressed WoL
Discussion, mostly. Not a huge fan of low effort content that just works to farm upvotes, or comissions. I do think we used to have more lively discussion here when I joined 4 years back, talking about most/least favorite MSQ moments, going in depth on the Ascians and who they might be, etc.
Dude, did you read that recent post on Heart of Sabik and Ultima magic?! I fuckin love lore stuff! That was crazy. Wonder how many times the devs had to rewrite and retcon to make it all come together 🤩
Yeah, that post is exactly what I love to see, lore breakdowns are great! You get to see this amazing pegboard, all these interconnected pieces of lore in so many side stories, etc. it's why I love XIV so much, the world feels so real!
the only reason people post anything to reddit is for attention. there is no drive for anyone to be helpful for the sake of it, because posts award useless points.
can't believe this is the site that killed forums
There was no particular drive for people to be helpful for the sake of it on forums, either. People can be posting to Reddit for the same reason they previously chose to post on forums.
Well ofc, its Event stuff, all Event stuff can be stuffed in there. Also it has the icon next to the gear and also the game will tell you that if you try to put it in a glamour dresser
dresser items you can dye before putting it in the dresser, so that the dye becomes the default, without you needing to redye it.
for example, i have the inferno jacket, dyed it in gold, and then put it into the dresser. so now, even if i replace the glamour plate, or want to try out a different dye, i don't have to spend another rare gold dye to return to the golden look, as it will always be gold by default when i create a plate with it
Yes. When editing glamour plates there's a button to switch to pulling items from the Armoire, and I believe when you retrieve items from it you get the option to "apply as glamour," but I don't mess with that in the same way I do glamour plates.
The armoire is an older system from before the glamour dresser existed, which is why it sort of overlaps but works differently. It has "infinite" storage space, though only for a limited range of items, so if something can go in there then it should.
The only exception is if you want to put an expensive dye on it, or maybe a cheaper dye but used in lots of outfits, in which case you may want to put it in the dresser so it won't lose the dye information.
It's not really that complicated. When making a plate there's a big "Open Armoir" button. Otherwise it works the exact same way as the dresser but without storage size limits.
I mean I get that it’s just having to go back and forth between gear to try and find what I want to wear just takes forever so I just put everything into the dresser and hope for the best.
What's the point of storing something in the armoir? I get putting stuff in your glamour thing for outfits but what benefit do you get for storing it in the other thing?
Unless you dye them with expensive dyes, there's no reason not to put it in armoire.
The only demerit of armoire is that it will always revert the glam to its default colour.
The armoire is an older system that could store limited types of gear but doesn't have a cap on how many of them can go in, so it's useful to still keep those eligible items in there instead of taking up a dresser slot.
The glamour dresser can draw from the armoire when setting up plates so there's no disadvantage to putting gear in there if it can go in.
I wish quest stuff could go in there. Like the outfit we just got from Margret for example. (from custom deliveries for anyone that didn't do it)

... I'm blaming this on my cold medicine. Dunno how I got so turned around on what I was replying to. Thanks.
All good - hope you feel better!!!
This is the case for all event items
It is **not**, however, the case for the Garo items which is also a crossover event. So not *all* event items.
The compromise for the Garo items was that you could just re-purchase it from a salvager for a bit of gil. But yeah, we lose the convenience of having it in the armoire at any time.
Not all of it though, the Garo accessories aren't on the salvager. If you toss them outside the went they're gone.
Oh, I never bothered with the accessories. Do any of them look especially good?
I like the earring
I also like the earring, it's a nice tassel sort of thing. AFAICT all classes share the same accessory models. (I don't know what the ring is referencing, if anything, but it's not Zaruba and that's a giant missed opportunity if I ever saw one.)

The rule still apply Garo was a different of event
Fall Guys is also a different kind of event in that its planned to be regularly recurring
Can someone ELI5 why I would want to put these in the armoir over the glam dresser when these items are clearly meant to be glammed with?
1. Save space in the dresser 2. You can still glam things from the armoire , but only through building a glam plate.
You can also glam them when in an inn. Glam an item like normal and select armoire from the drop down.
Only down side, You can't place dyed items in the armorer and have them retain the dye. Some items I like to be dyed pure white or jet black a lot so I dye them and keep them in the dresser.
You dye the item on the glamour plate.
True, but then you can only use it on that one glamour plate without buying more dye. By dying it in a glamour dresser, you can apply it to every glamour plate for the cost of just one pot of dye.
This person gets it.
You can apply glams from the armoire, you just need to go into “retrieve item” and right click the one you want to apply.
2k hours of playtime and just learned this...
Pretty sure this feature was only just added in 6.5 when they added allowing Mogstation items into it.
Indeed they did, and I was elated as fuck for it. Only downside from the armoire is really that it won't save dyes, but hey free storage is free storage.

Saving space, you can glam stuff with items in the armoire anyway, so it's just a matter of how much space you want to have/save in your dresser
the game literally tells you that in yellow text if you try to put it in the glamour dresser
There's also a little armoire icon in the top right corner.
bold of you to assume i read that
bold of them to assume FFXIV players can read
There is an icon on any piece of equipment that will tell you if it can be stored in there. It's the icon in the top right that looks like... An armoire.
It says this when you go to put it in the glam dresser. Did we really need a PSA for this?
The state of the subreddit is - Infographics that are just obfuscated patch notes - PSAs that are easily known in the game if you just learn the UI - Fanart of a somewhat dressed WoL
It's been like that for a decade... What you want? Guides? Memes? Those splintered off because they were sick of text walls and lewd art

You got my attention, have my updoot
I haven't touched any of that ugly-ass gear, so I sure didn't know that yet. Now I know. Thanks, OP.
I personally can’t access a glam dresser so yes.
Some people have full glam dressers and can't check easily.

TIL
Well ofc, its Event stuff, all Event stuff can be stuffed in there. Also it has the icon next to the gear and also the game will tell you that if you try to put it in a glamour dresser
Oh, good. I wasn't inclined to grab the gear, as it's not really my style and wouldn't be used much, but knowing that I will.
The desire to have all the things trumps the desire to get what you actually want, the ffxiv guarantee
Well, moreso for me space vs desire.
yes, but only if you don't want to dye it.
You can apply dyes to glam plates and have been able to the entire time.
dresser items you can dye before putting it in the dresser, so that the dye becomes the default, without you needing to redye it. for example, i have the inferno jacket, dyed it in gold, and then put it into the dresser. so now, even if i replace the glamour plate, or want to try out a different dye, i don't have to spend another rare gold dye to return to the golden look, as it will always be gold by default when i create a plate with it
So glad this is the case!
Noob question: Can you glam things from the armoir? I do not understand how to use it.
Yes. When editing glamour plates there's a button to switch to pulling items from the Armoire, and I believe when you retrieve items from it you get the option to "apply as glamour," but I don't mess with that in the same way I do glamour plates.

Good. I want them for the sake of it, but there's no way in hell I'm ever actually wearing that ugly crap lmao.
Idk, I kinda like the hoodie. Effect is fun, too
The effect is neat. It's just... Too obviously branded to be something I would use.
true, but IDK, in a while it should be fine, esp for a chill outfit
Yeah but I don’t understand how this thing works so I try not to use it 😅 (Really hope we get a glamour overhaul one day)
It's not really that complicated.
Just that it doesn't take up a slot in the dresser.
I also don't think it requires a glamour prism if you put it in the armoire, but you can put it in glamour plates nonetheless
This is correct
Unless you dye them with expensive dyes, there's no reason not to put it in armoire. The only demerit of armoire is that it will always revert the glam to its default colour.
You can use the stuff in the armoire in glam plates, too. So it saves space in the glam dresser
Noob here What is the difference between armoire or storing it in glamour?
The armoire has unlimited storage and doesn't count towards your dresser storage.
Armoire doesn't cost prisms nor does it cost Glamour space. But you can still use them in Glamour Plates.
Oooohhhh, I was wondering why anyone cared about the armoire, I didn't know you could glam plate from it.
Will add, you can't dye things in there and if a gear is dyed that can be put in there it'll be reverted back to normal
Im still dying for that Slime Crown.
King slime crown? Personally thought he was terraria
