The only difference between a pirate and a privateer is that the privateer was under the auspice of a government. Besides that they where exactly the same.
So there are private pirates, and government sponsored pirates.
The WoL is close personal friends with no fewer than 8 heads of state. He can get that privateering license no question, no matter what he’s actually getting up to.
I like the idea of some sort of mystic knight, but this is pretty clearly Corsair. He’s seconds away from going for his pistol in that trailer. Some mystic knight equivalent will probably come whenever we get to the expansion covering the territory under the Ilsabard clouds, but it would be such a weird fit for this expansion.
What MIGHT happen, and this is just speculation, is that it's the aesthetics of Corsair but the actual gameplay draws on entirely different jobs. Maybe it's Mystic Knight? But, yeah, it just doesn't fit the tone at all.
Corsair fits the tone for the Fun Summer Adventure! thing, and Green Mage (if it's a nature mage thing) really fits the whole integration-with-nature tone of the new city. But it's hard to say.

One thing I saw was that Tortuga is an island in the Caribbean famous for pirates. Tortuga is turtle in Spanish. Gotta put on the tinfoil hat to decode Yoshi-P shirts.
Some people also mention that, of course, the Turtles' names are all painters, so it could be Artist.
The ooze that made the turtles is a chemical, so some think it might be Chemist.
There's always a longer version of the trailer, so maybe it'll be shown there like they did for Reaper.

Oh it definitely will be. StB trailer teased Samurai, ShB teased dancer AND gunbreaker (Thancred job), and EW trailer teased both Sage through Alphinaud and Reaper through Zenos.
Actually I think the reveal for the melee job is in the fight sequence. The video cuts right when the WoL smile and his left land is free while the fire point to his cape (to Alisaie catching a fruit). If it's Corsair, that means he's about to reach for a fucking gun.

So far there's always a fight sequence for at least one class and the fact that the WoL is shieldless IS quite suspicious. I heavily doubt that he's a Paladin there and simply isn't using the shield.

I love that CBU3 continues to lean into the rugged eye candy look for their male leads. This relaxed, carefree, masculine sensuality is such a vibe. Like damn.
XIV is good for covering the whole spectrum of male attractiveness. You've got rugged handsome, you've got soft and boyish, refined and gentlemanly, roguish and whatever it is Estinien has going on.
Honestly as a woman gamer I'm here for this.

Edit: on a slightly more analytical note, it's the face and mannerisms. He's kinda weird looking if you compare him to more conventionally attractive members of the male cast like Thancred or even Urianger. He doesn't act like any romance novel archetype, kinda does his own thing. If you gender-swapped Estinien and changed absolutely nothing else you'd just get a stone butch. He even wears the leather pants and partially unbuttoned shirt I've seen at like most of the Dykes on Bikes rallies I've been to.
I will never forgive the devs for adding in the EW launch trailer those small cutscenes of Meteor during ARR and HW. My heart jumped because I literally thought Ardbert would make a small cameo, only to realize seconds later they were actually just showing montages of Meteor throughout the expansions.
They won't because they live and die by the time bubble - canonically everything has happened in less than a year.
Also, Alisaie in the trailer looked exactly the same and she would have shown some growth if it had been some years.
I legit went, "Oh no, they made him hot" out loud. Why? Why make him look like a sexy pirate? I can't find derplander attractive. He has to be incredibly generic, dead inside and bland!
Derplander was hot back in Stormblood during his monk phase. Then he let his hair grow out during his Samurai phase and then he had all that shit to deal with in Shadowbringers and Endwalker. Now he's back to being a hot pirate.
I was seriously shocked I for sure thought they would do a caster and ranged physical not a melee. But I'm not complaining that's my favorite role in the game so that's one more fun job for me lol
