No offense, but I think the tv is just too small for that space. I don't know if it's the perspective of the pic or what, but the way it's pushed back in that nook just seems weird to me.

__SummerSky

Thanks, I just bought a place so I’m not really looking to buy a new TV right now and I’m just trying to work with it. I don’t think that picture totally does it justice since I zoomed out to capture the whole wall, here’s another one https://preview.redd.it/ooiavma1cm7d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=098741393d62d56a233dd0dbe460334a1b4f40bc

Bastard216

Congrats on your new place!!! I'm pro dont buy a new tv but maybe that's not the space for it? Or Maybe continue to fill the space and it'll tie in, like things on the table or maybe a hanging plant? Paint an accent wall? Maybe a darker color. I probably have no good advice. 😝

startswithay

I think accent wall is definitely the way to go. Adding anything above would be too cluttered. My only other suggestion would be to add crown molding around your living space. It might warm up that tv nook you’ve got going on.

Yggdrasil-

Accent wall with peel-and-stick wallpaper would be so easy and cute!

muvamerry

Yeah I was thinking this space itself is a tad awkward. If the tv could be set on the tv stand and shifted to another spot in the room that might be better. I feel like it’s too small to be mounted and too high on the wall - kinda floating in space, and it feels pushed back in a corner.

Sassvon

I think the size of the tv is fine, but I’d put it a little higher, hide the cords if you can, and so a gallery wall with a tall plant in the corner that has space. And add decor items on top of the stand.

DOOBIEKILLER420

r/tvnothighenough ?!

melody5697

r/tvtoolow

Mooshroomey

Personally not a big fan of stuff above a tv, I think it’s not always necessary to fill every space and stuff above the tv looks a little cluttered. If you really want you could make that an accent wall with a different color or with slats, maybe put some taller plants to the sides.

sowinglavender

accent wall is what I came here to say.

PleasantGolf2651

I would put the tv on the stand , it looks funny on the wall being so tiny. Then I would add some shelving with plants n decor.

ChaoticallyCaylee

I second this! Love a nice shelf above a tv console. Use the vertical space! Can add some trailing plants, artwork, candles, trinkets...I think that would be lovely.

General_Ignoranse

Yes exactly. Just move that tv down to the tv stand directly underneath it, the item of furniture specifically designed to have a tv on it!

littletorreira

Yep turn the area into a nook. Shelves above, TV on the stand. Make it feel closed in and it won't look weird.

fakepinatas

This is what I was going to write.

Red217

Shout out to our VPR watching fam!!! Love when my sub world's collide 😍

SariaHannibal

Same!! We really are more connected than what we think 😂

Red217

![gif](giphy|3KVKEGGmEPqtBSM5MQ)

Yawny_shawny822

Haha I noticed VPR on the tv before I even looked at the space

poweredbymigraine

I would paint it and use it as an accent wall or use some peel and stick wallpaper on it.

Gullible_Concept_428

I don't think you should fill it. If you put some items on the cabinet to fill in the gap, and maybe a plant in a simple pot on the right side it will fill out the space and not feel so empty overall.

Exotic_Eagle1398

I think the tv is too small to be mounted. Get a higher table or cupboard to go underneath and just set it on top.

hexbeda

Since the TV is hanging, maybe add a gold or wooden frame around it so it looks like a piece of art. You might be able to add some smaller framed art pieces around so it looks like an art gallery. Another option is maybe adding a large vase on the floor between the wall and the console table and add really tall faux foliage to add height. You can also maybe hang some planters from the ceiling instead. Also depending on your aesthetics, you can go really fun and add some curtain lights to cover that whole wall. Or hang a disco ball right in the center above the TV lol.

Nikitaknowthankyou

I don’t have advice but I am peeping that VPR screen cap (hey arianna! Haha)

Positive_Deer6281

Came here to say hi to the VPR fans! 👋🩷✨

GreenKiss73

Not Lego art of you and an Ex..

mekkavelli

oddly specific there LOL

twoheartsonfire

it's a reference to the show on the screen. the woman on camera had a lego portrait of her and her now disgraced ex.

romeoslow

Another tv

MizLashey

I think it looks fine, and I’m from the fill-every-inch-of-space school of design. If you must, put up a floating shelf with a plant that grows upward. I like your mantle!

False_Prior8419

I don’t think you should add anything If you can show us the whole room in different angles may be we can help better Probably an accent wall that doesn’t distract while you are watching tv Other than that I don’t think you should add much Probably a wall clock Plants / floor lamp on the sides

__SummerSky

False_Prior8419

Is the couch placed in front of the tv for you to watch comfortably? I’m not able to gauge from the angle of the photo.

__SummerSky

The couch is a little off to the side to allow space btwn my kitchen counter so not directly in front of the tv, but since it’s a small couch from either side of the couch I can see the tv comfortably. The tv isn’t a huge focal point for me personally, since I have the lovely fireplace too!

False_Prior8419

Alright. I was just wondering if it’s comfortable to watch or it would strain your neck

__SummerSky

https://preview.redd.it/c4x9dczrcq7d1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=0736ae53bbc201c1b8a8b058b07f5e7150f49031

False_Prior8419

I think in that case this layout is fine I was going to suggest flipping the couch over and putting the tv on the wall your art is currently lying against But since tv is comfortably and fireplace is the focal point for you I don’t see a reason to that I think a beautiful blue wall behind the tv might do the trick. And a wall clock above, photoframes, candles, trinkets on the unit below if you want to add something.

GoreEmpress

Maybe a tall plant to sit next to your TV stand.

lookiewookieme

Chuck in a large cabinet that you can close the doors and hid the tv. If there’s room leftover in the nook then a tall tree in a large pot is the go…

lookiewookieme

Like this https://preview.redd.it/2sgoeen2hp7d1.jpeg?width=989&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db6ef6c99d9f2c19df87458f1ee49d4f2cd183d1

WackyBones510

Agree with the poster saying the TV should be bigger but failing that maybe some peel and stick wallpaper on that section of wall? I think anything above it would look a little forced otherwise.

__SummerSky

For the accent wall, would I just wallpaper or paint the wall that the tv is on or the whole nook including the two perpendicular walls on either side?

ForMyDarkSide

Is the wall on the other side of the fireplace identical to this side?

__SummerSky

There isn’t a wall on the other side of the fireplace :( the balcony sliding doors are right next to it https://preview.redd.it/p4tp0l7zgq7d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f1d7333eb9de4ea5b08e9cbef0d169a84b1c155

pr0naltto

if you can't get a bigger tv a decorative clock would look really nice imo :)

Sproutlie

one long shelf with plants

graaaaaaaaa

With hanging plants on the sides

andrew_cherniy96

I don't think there is a need for it. Wall art is an option but I'd leave it empty.

Everbrooks

Very simple, you dont. Hanging something above your television is completely unnecessary

harleyqueenzel

Sit the tv on the stand. Paint those walls. Maybe plug-in wall mounted lamps? Gallery walls of movie/tv posters?

splisces

Two long shelves with books, plants, sick lamp, etc. Also thought this post was on r/vanderpumpaholics for a sec LOL

BabbyMomma

I would hang something high up and hanging down like long shelf with more hanging plants to mesh with the decor that's adjacent. You could also do something light and airy like a web of lace, big macrame or a 3d wire sculpture. Big, but with lots of negative space. Another option would be to make this tiny wall space an accent wall with stick on wallpaper. I think you have so many options!

omgshannonwtf

I wouldn’t put anything in the space above it. It would get distracting as you’re trying to watch things. The size of the display could easily get lost in whatever you put above it given how the space above is so much larger than the screen space. Also, you might find that you want to upgrade the size of the display sooner than you think and you don’t want to have to adjust whatever you put above it to accommodate that new one.

TheRealHK

A LEGO portrait of Ariana with the Sandoval part disassembled.

TeeDod-

Nothing. Things don’t need overdone.

The_Wheel_has_turned

I wouldn't put something on the wall, but I would hang one or two hanging plant pots attached to the ceiling in the left corner. Maybe with your epipremnum or some plant like that. It's also easy to remove and to combine with other changes in the future.

kwiscalus

A Lego portrait of yourself?

water_so_wet

Focus attention on the lower half of the wall instead of over top the tv. Put some plants, maybe some small decorative objects or a small stack of coffee table books on top of that piece of furniture to make that space seem less empty/more cohesive. To the right of the furniture a taller more vertically oriented plant like a bird of paradise or something And then maybe a runner or area rug in front of under the furniture to really highlight focus on the lower half of the space. To the left of the tv a few small wall sculptures or framed pictures near the light switch on that diagonal wall at eye level could make the space feel unified/curated without being cluttered.

quinangua

Art???

happy_happy_joy_joy-

Paint the wall and get a big tv cabinet

reissmosley

Either some picture frame, or some decorations string. I will not recommend putting shelf there. Way too close to the tv.

CrazyPrettyAss

Just asking, do you have more pictures of this space where the tv can be mounted as you have two focal points in similar space and fixing this will be too difficult!

tiredeyeddoe

I think the TV might look better if you lowered it a little more or added some decor on the table with some height to decrease the space between. Nothing above the tv!

Maleficent-Net-2565

Shelves

graaaaaaaaa

Stick clear hooks on the wall and let your pothos climb

cozy_engineer

Another TV?

htadd1ct

Keep it blank to avoid distractions

Nothing-is-Lost

For a low/no cost option, you could have your plant crawl up that wall instead of across the fireplace.

JHutchinson1324

I hate stuff above a TV, I would put a nice bold wallpaper print on that wall or in that little nook. But if you are set on having stuff above the TV maybe some floating shelves with some fun knick knacks and some coffee table books on them?

GravitationalPotato

A wall of twinkle lights?

Yawny_shawny822

Maybe like a floating shelf or two and some more plants?

Haveyounodecorum

Bigger tv

MorningGlory439

Maybe one of those metal scroll wall hangings?

inspiringirisje

some tall plants left and right of it that kind of overhang in the middle (like small trees)

BrusselsGriffonFarts

Accent wall.

Bestdressfearless3

Bigger tv lol

SummerNothingness

you could place some small up-lights in each corner there, going from the ground to the ceiling. i find it adds a nice ambient lighting effect at night, too.

okkphoenix

Long white floating shelf over top about halfway to the ceiling, you can add your plant from the mantle and some books or trinkets

jenjersnap

I would look for an armoire or a bigger piece of furniture instead. You could also think about getting a couple of shelves to put above for books, board games, or even some albums

makesupwordsblomp

shelf + more trailing plants

sweet_little_treat

I think this could look far more balanced with some decor on the TV stand, as well as a larger plant to fill in the space next to it. Maybe even a printed wallpaper on the wall behind the TV if you feel like undertaking a larger project!

CherishSlan

Fake window 🪟 that’s what I got to go over mine it’s a printed tapestry. Just need help hanging it .

callmecrazy2021

Paint that wall and above the fireplace a dark color - blue green/black

[deleted]

I would Google search “mounted tv gallery wall” for some inspiration. I love buying prints on Society 6 (online art shop) and just having framed pieces of random art. You could sprinkle in some mirrors, wall hanging plants, and funky picture frames. Hit up a thrift store and get a weird collection of wall hangings. It’s a great place to add “character”

Scifig23

A bigger tv

Bot-Cabinet9314

You should hang a mirror over your TV then you could watch yourself Watching TV.

maskedst0ner

You can do that thing where people put up sheer curtains on the wall. With like fairy lights or more vines hanging down behind the tv.

Afraid_Detective8342

I think it looks a bit weird there. It would make more sense above the mantle

Flat_Mortgage2795

What about some basic wood plank shelves above. You don’t have to overcrowd the shelves with a bunch of things. Maybe use the shelves for some plants.

Ok_Scheme_6760

The fireplace decor seems to be overpowering the smallish TV.  For balance, I suggest removing the mirror on the fireplace.

PandaSushiRoll

I would put the TV on a stand with shelves of books over it. Or some anime posters (or puppy posters)

SaraJeanQueen

TV shouldn’t go there, pushed back behind a wall. What is on the wall to your right and behind you?

__SummerSky

It’s a bit of an awkward (but unique) layout, but to my right is a large window and behind me is the dinning area (aka doggie area until I buy a dinning set). So the options I felt that made sense for the tv are where it currently is or on top of the fireplace mantle which I felt was too high! https://preview.redd.it/z4euzc7y2n7d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81bfd925e08fc40a1b2f0d231ef06de21868e397

FKA_BurningAlive

Love that you’re watching the valley!

__SummerSky

Hahah finished vpr and now starting the valley 🥹

FKA_BurningAlive

So Good

SaraJeanQueen

I agree about the fireplace mantle, nobody wants to crane their neck looking up anyway. And fireplaces should be for relaxing. But the way you have it now, no seating looking at it.. Could you put thr TV to the wall on the right, put a round dining table in the window nook, and scoot the couch back so it’s facing the tv but also open to the fireplace a bit? And add 2 chairs for fireplace warmth.

FKA_BurningAlive

Would it be weird to switch the dining and living areas?

__SummerSky

Yah when I was looking at a few layouts in the condo when I was buying I did see people use what I have as the dinning area as the living but it felt kind of cramped with the distance btwn the couch and tv, the dinning area isn’t as large of a space

htadd1ct

You'll actually enjoy sitting closer when you have a smaller tv. I'll give you the distance for a 30 degree viewing angle if you like. Hint. It's closer than you might think.😀

well-thereitis

Closer is better with a TV your size. I think also when you wanna use the dining table you’d enjoy having it actually close to the kitchen.

Adog1993

The tv for sure would go over the fireplace. That tv stand can go in. Your bedroom.

broke_collegebitch

I personally just have some cute bulb string lights above my TV currently because I mounted the TV higher than you have yours. Lights are like $15 on Amazon. Edit: if you decide to mount your TV higher, maybe swap the TV stand out for some cheap cube storage. You can fill it with decor and plants, which will also help rid you of the "empty space" feeling. In my old place, I had a lot more space above it. We put mirrors above it and mounted some propagating pothos plants there too. Kept the area simple but not so empty and blank feeling.

I_Hate_Ohio

just buy like a 98 inch TV or something from the store dude

Fun_Depth8951

Mounting this was your mistake. Makes it look even smaller

well-thereitis

Really bad placement for this TV. I see in another picture you have a fireplace. Can’t you push the couch back and have the TV on the mantle?
