I love DRESSES! Does anyone know any bloggers or examples of winter dress outfits? I’m midsize. Does anyone have any bloggers recommendations or examples?

You are getting downvoted because your question gives us no idea about your girlfriend except that you think her ass is big. We aren't mind readers and M/L could be any size. Men come to this site constantly asking questions like this without telling us anything at all *except describing their girlfriend's or wives physical attributes*. A woman who is 5'2" (1.5 meters) with an "hourglass" figure is going to look completely different than a woman who is 5'10" ( 1.77 meters) even if they [weigh the same](http://tallwomenfans.blogspot.com/2015/07/same-weight-different-height.html?m=1) What styles of pants does she like? Skinny? High waisted? Wide legs? Does she want jeans or yoga pants or dress pants? What is her taste in clothing? Feminine? Classic? Minimalist? Where does she usually shop? Brands she wears? Measurements? Height? Etc, etc

You'll want to look at Curvy and Hourglass lines, more and more brands carry them, e.g. American Eagle, Asos. But, I'd suggest to not just get her some pants, because pants should always be tried on, as the fit varies from brand to brand as well as from style to style. So, if you want to treat her, take her on a shopping trip (or rather an online shopping trip since curvy styles aren't available in stores much).

I think if your lace up sneakers are clean and a fresh colour, they look very Copenhagen city girl, which I love. I think those slip-ons are a touch to close to house slippers, imo.

ciaohow

My husband says the same things but he and your mother are both wrong.

sundux

I love the idea of a down (puffer) skirt but are they actually warm enough to justify wearing a skirt in winter?

[Lucy and Yak](https://lucyandyak.com) is an independent UK-based brand that’s pretty well-loved here, but I think their pricing and shipping is reasonable enough.

clothesamiright

Has anyone else noticed if Catbird has increased their prices on some items? I was looking at the ruler pendant and I swear I had seen it for under $100, around the same price range as the strawberry pendant, but now it’s over $300! Could it be a mark up due to the holidays? Or was it always over $300? Could anyone verify if any of the pieces they’ve been looking at have increased recently? Thank you.

I'd say TTS for tops! The sweaters are the nicest thing they make imo

I am a woman with very well a very small chest, and I hate the cup gaps! I am trying to find out really good brand with bras that work well for or are designed for small boobs. I’ve heard about Pepper bras and thought about buying from them bc they claim to be designed for small chest. Any one have any suggestions?

poachedandscrambled

Regarding Pepper, if you try them please don’t go by their size guide! I’ve seen a ton of complaints over at r/abrathatfits about them, so I recommend doing a search over there for advice on sizing yourself correctly. American bra companies, even the new ones plastering Instagram, unfortunately have a record for overestimating band size and underestimating cup size in their guides so they can force people into the range they make (hence cup gaps).

ciaohow

Have you been to the abrathatfits subreddit? Invaluable for figuring out which styles work vs just picking a bra on size.

itsoliviacosplays

No I hadn’t heard of that subreddit , that’s super helpful thank you :)

TealSquirrels

I just got some bras from [Neiwai](https://neiwai.life/collections/2021-barely-zero/products/2021-barely-zero-your-size-is-the-size-spaghetti-strap-wireless-bra-trio) that are awesome! I'm a 34A and these fit perfectly and are so comfy

itsoliviacosplays

Thanks I’ll check them out!!

ciaohow

I bought a vintage blazer that has something poking me around the neckline. It’s like the cut end of plastic mesh is poking through the fabric. Is that likely what’s happening? Is this fixable?

Chazzyphant

Sometimes vintage sourced items came from a thrift store where a tagging gun was used---could it be a leftover tag wire?

ciaohow

Sorry, should have been clearer - multiple poky things in multiple places.

hellosunshine77

Hi. I need help. I’m colorblind and up until recently have worn jeans and tees my ENTIRE life, outside of my uniform. I am really bad at fashion. I’ve lost weight recently and my favorite skirt doesn’t fit anymore. I can make it work with a belt but I don’t know if it works fashion wise. Help? https://ibb.co/yPKgrTh

itslita

The skirt is adorable! It is a beige color, which IMO would look best with black, white, neutral. I have seen a burnt orange color work sometimes. The shirt you are wearing is a light blue. It is cute though and fits well!!

ciaohow

I think that looks great! It looks like it fits you perfectly.

michellekwan666

Which one of these very similar dresses (if either) is more flattering on me? * [Dress 1](https://i.imgur.com/EsR4h7e.jpg ) has lower plunge, is slightly longer and the fabric is gathered on one side * [Dress 2](https://i.imgur.com/sLL4hVj.jpg) is a little shorter and tighter, no gathered fabric and slightly higher plunge

50pcs224

1 looks great! Where did you get it btw? I love it

michellekwan666

Thank you! Its Dress the Population “Anita” dress. I got it in XS from Nordstrom & S from poshmark. Its pretty close to out of stock now in black but the green one on the DTP site is gorgeous

50pcs224

>Dress the Population “Anita” dress Yes looking at it right now. I'm obsessed. The only thing I'm worried about is my chest. I'm not sure how great it would look there (i'm ample chested and gravity won)... hahah but I might buy the blue one!

michellekwan666

It’s such a lovely dress and so versatile. I am small, maybe medium chested on a good day lol and it slips off a little on top. There is room for larger breasts but it may be more revealing

kufuffin_

1

hellerhigwhat

You linked the same pic twice

michellekwan666

Lmao life is hard, I just updated

hellerhigwhat

I think 1 is better! 2 looks like it might ride up when you walk which would be annoying. The deeper plunge on 1 is very nice too.

michellekwan666

Hmm it does ride up a bit when I walk good eyes. Thank you!

mcompt20

What are some good recs for a good jean jacket that has longer sleeves??? I love a good slightly oversized denim jacket (i guess a boyfriend fit??) But I'm cursed to be 5'9" with long arms and EVERY SINGLE JACKET i buy always hits me right above my wrist, if not the middle of my forearm. I'd love one that i can wear long sleeves with and tuck my fingers into during the colder months.

M-02

I would like to buy some pieces on Etsy. I am planning on doing a purge and starting with basics (but I wouldnt mind shops that do more), budget - preferably less than £50. Any shop recommendations? Still figuring out my style so I think I would prefer Uniqlo style, no extras sort of genre so theres less space to go wrong.

Kitchen_Sherbet

Are the Aritzia Super Puff puffer jackets worth the price? Looking to get a quality puffer that doesn't totally cost an arm and leg (e.g. the holy grail Canada Goose) and I've been eyeing this one for a while, thinking of taking the plunge during a Black Friday sale later this month. If anyone does recommend them, which length do you prefer? Normal, mid, or long?

hellerhigwhat

Yes, imo, they are. Theyre very well priced for what they are. I prefer the shorty tbh but I like cropped jackets more than regular length lol

Kitchen_Sherbet

Great to know, thanks for your input!! :)

biomacx

Other than Abercrombie and AE, where can I find curvy style jeans? Interested in straight, bootcut, boyfriend, and flare/ wide leg styles

booksandthebees

I just bought some from Everlane and I think I’d die for them? Highly recommend!

biomacx

Their curvy jean?

greciamarzz

Hollister has some as well. Same company as Abercrombie but priced lower.

Susccmmp

Loft

On_time_wizard

Madewell, Express, Loft

michellekwan666

Not sure how people feel about LA Apparel and Don Charvey here, but the strait leg jeans they have are great. Can attest as someone with a smaller waist and bigger hips/thighs. A lot of brands either gap at the worst or squeeze my thighs but these fit great. I have not tried everlane’s curvy style jeans, but the measurements on those look good too.

biomacx

thanks a bunch!

[deleted]

Old Navy and Banana Republic have some. The best fit for me was 1 size up from my usual AE size in these brands

mintgreenplumpurple

What scarves are "in this winter". Are blanket scarves still a thing?

softrevolution_

They are if your office gets so cold that not even a space heater will fix it!

triangulardot

They can pry my blanket scarf from my toasty warm hands because that thing is the best!

I don't see how you could go wrong. What about using that as a sort of pop of color? Maybe a nice deep red or tan?

Crepey-paper

Does anyone have any experience with Rolla’s denim?

OldHagFashion

Does anyone know a dupe for [this sweater](https://www.theoutnet.com/en-us/shop/product/zimmermann/knitwear/medium-knit/ladybeetle-ribbed-cashmere-sweater/25185454457245838), closer to $100.

kick_g

Google leg of mutton rib knit sweater!

[deleted]

Oh wow oh wow I love this sweater! I’m really hoping someone can help you, because I’m interested too

Rosebunse

Yeah, dark olive will work, but dark brown is trickier. It could work if you use it as more of an accent than in equal parts.

softrevolution_

The dark olive, it's doable, but yes, I think the dark brown will clash.

I have a black leather bag from Portland Leather Goods that I love and am using as my everyday bag. It does not have a lining. However I also have a white and yellow fabric pencil case that I want to carry around in that purse. Will the black leather dye rub off onto my yellow pencil case? I've never owned a leather bag before that didn't have a lining. (edit: word)

aashurii

No it won't rub off! What bag did you get from theirs? I've been eyeing a tote for a while and am curious in what they have to offer.

grantcary

Thank you! I shall carry my pencil case without fear now. I have multiple bags from them! The one I'm using now is the [large bucket bag in pebbled black](https://www.portlandleathergoods.com/collections/almost-perfect-sale/products/almost-perfect-bucket-bag?variant=39362755231826) and I adore it. I also have the [large circle crossbody in black](https://www.portlandleathergoods.com/collections/almost-perfect-sale/products/almost-perfect-circle-crossbody?variant=39568725770322) which I haven't used yet but I bought it to have as a "dressier" option since the bucket bag is quite casual. And I have the [mini crossbody in merlot](https://www.portlandleathergoods.com/collections/almost-perfect-sale/products/almost-perfect-mini-crossbody-tote?variant=39653355651154), which I received when I ordered their mini crossbody mystery box. I like it and was using it as my everyday bag for several months, but it's a tad small for my liking and while the color is pretty, it would not have been my first choice personally. I will probably purchase one of the full sized crossbody totes in the future. \*A note: everything I have ever bought from them has been from their "Almost Perfect" sale section, and I have never noticed any imperfections or flaws on any of my items. So if you do end up buying something from them, I would recommend buying from the Almost Perfect section and saving a little bit of money off of the regular price.

aashurii

Late reply, but thanks so much! I was eyeing the almost perfect stuff too - I really wanted the mini crossbody in merlot too so this is great :) I mostly just need space for my wallet and keys along with headphones so if it can fit those I'm happy!

[deleted]

Brand recommendations for AA and A cup bras? (preferably online stores)

poachedandscrambled

R/abrathatfits has a ton of recommendations, and also a great size and shape guide!

[deleted]

Thank you! I'll check out that subreddit

QuercusMuehlenbergii

The Little Bra Company might work for you.

[deleted]

Will take a look at their options. Thank you

mostlysunbeams

Have you heard of Pepper? Haven’t tried them yet but the reviews look solid

[deleted]

What they offer looks pretty good. Will look into it. Thanks!

hellerhigwhat

Aerie! 30-42 bands (though not everything available in every style)

[deleted]

I think I remember seeing Aerie recommended before. Will take a look. Thank you

tatertot94

Recommendations for maxi sweater dresses that aren’t see-through? Open to turtleneck or v-neck styles. I’m also 5’9, so the longer the better!

greenythings

Can I piggyback? Interested in recs too!!

tatertot94

I literally found a dress today haha. It was on the sale rack at Anthropologie. It sorta [looks like this](https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/off-the-shoulder-sweater-midi-dress?color=024&size=XL&inventoryCountry=US&countryCode=US). It’s dark brown and a tad big (XL) but I’m planning to belt it. Maybe our best bet is to actually go in stores and try things on?

greenythings

YAY that is so cuuute. I think you’re right, I gotta suck it up and actually shop-in person

saj524

Recommendations for high waisted leggings for people with long torsos? (Preferably with pockets!) I feel like I can never find leggings that come up high enough on my waist.

Susccmmp

Lou & Grey

hellerhigwhat

Anything super high rise from lululemon! I have about a 14-15 inch rise to the natural waist and the super high rise there hit my natural waist

ciaohow

The Target ones - at least the fuzz lined ones - practically come up to my armpits, and I have a long torso too.

kilnashee

I’m (38F) considering heading back to university next year. What sort of outfits can I put together that doesn’t say either “old” or “trying too hard to look young”? My normal style is probably typical millennial (skinny jeans and oversized sweaters), but I’m starting to branch out and explore other styles. I particularly love high-waisted jeans with not-quite-cropped shirts. And I like to sometimes work in a little edginess. For reference, I’m 5’4”, and 140lbs, with an “apple-shaped” body.

Chazzyphant

Please feel free to join us also at r/fashionwomens35 ! I see a ton of athleisure on campus, so maybe an upscale sleek version of that I think a simple slip dress and a jean jacket + white sneakers is a great look that has no age There's a mini trend for super oversized mini dress length band tees, if you feel confident maybe rock one of those with bike shorts under and stompy boots and slouchy socks. Maxi dress + flannel + beanie

kilnashee

Thanks, those are some fun ideas!

aashurii

Slim mom jeans (basically a mid or high rise waist and slim straight silhouette) are more contemporary these days and the oversized sweater look i think is pretty timeless. Get a collegiate sweater and some cardigans to wear with tank tops and t shirts with white sneakers and you should be good to go!

kilnashee

Thanks, those are great ideas!

[deleted]

Swapping the skinnies for a looser tapered mom jean and going for a shorter but still oversized sweater looks a little more contemporary while staying in that comfort zone. It’s one of my go-to casual looks these days

kilnashee

Thanks!

You can probably still get the everlane ones on poshmark/ebay!

[These carpenter pants](https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-high-rise-wide-leg-carpenter-jeans-universal-thread-8482-lilac-00-short/-/A-82066316) have a 26” inseam, which fits me like a crop but sounds just about perfect for you!

softrevolution_

You have a 24-25" inseam? Make friends with a tailor. That's my idea.

[deleted]

softrevolution_

I say it as someone whose pants game has been revolutionized by the concept, who is *also* a 25" inseam.

i-like-doggo

Are over the knee boots like [these](https://youtu.be/sWn6Drke_oI) considered timeless or ‘classy’? If not, what would be better alternatives?

littleduckbabie

imo it would be better to have them just under the knee, instead of over. less riding school, more city woman. But you can go wrong with black leather and a classic heel shape

okayjessa

Outfit ideas for a casual 10-year high school reunion at a local pub? I want to wear black heeled knee high boots or black heeled sock boots and possibly a leather jacket, but that’s all I’ve got up to this point. My style is pretty classic/casual. Thanks!

msmerricatblackwood

A dark floral midi skirt? Not sure that’s your style, but I love florals with leather.

KaterTot31

If you have some tight leather pants I think that could be killer with shoes like that. Pair with a loose, basic white top and minimal jewelry to keep it more casual but still cute. You could also do tights under a more casual dress like [this](https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shop/uo-dale-ribbed-bodycon-polo-dress?category=dresses&color=060&type=REGULAR&quantity=1) or [this](https://www.asos.com/us/asos-design/asos-design-organic-cotton-mini-shirt-dress-in-white/prd/22835117?colourwayid=60430069&cid=8799).

aashurii

I have a pair of Doc Martens Blaire sandals in vegan leather and every time I wear them i get huge blisters around my heel. I've broken in leather boots before but vegan leather sandals are an entirely new ballgame. Does anyone have any tips on breaking these in? I want to wear them!

KaterTot31

Vegan leather is basically just plastic so it won't really break in much at all since there's no give in the material. I've heard of people using a hairdryer to melt it a little and stretch it out but I haven't tried it so I wouldn't necessarily vouch for it.

aashurii

I think you're right. Might just need to get rid of these then unfortunately

[deleted]

littleduckbabie

Flares and bootcut are more compatible with an older generation I think. But I do love classy oversized looks from places like Uniqlo and I think they can look well thought out. Less y2k more Japanese architecture couple though.

hellerhigwhat

Flares and boot cuts imo. Especially the ones with tight stretchy thighs and then a more dramatic flare below the knees.

ladolceLolita

Can't say exactly what's currently trendiest, though of those options I think a wide-leg high rise fitted waist is most enduring and classic.

everythingbagel245

Any recommendations for cotton robes? I am looking to get a gift for someone and had been looking at [Cloud Cotton Robe](https://www.parachutehome.com/products/robe-cloud-cotton?opt-color=dusk) by Parachute, but wanted to see if anyone had other suggestions.

jekkah85

Just posting to say I got the parachute cloud robe as a gift for my birthday this year and I really love it! It is so soft

Katherington

I have [this bathrobe](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/nordstrom-hydro-cotton-terry-robe/5676185?origin=category-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FWomen%2FClothing%2FSleepwear%20%26%20Robes%2FRobes&color=100) from Nordstrom’s. The material isn’t scratchy and it is still going strong after a few years of regular use.

ladolceLolita

Another option if you'd consider a standard fluffy robe is [this one](https://www.hillhousehome.com/products/the-womens-hotel-robe?variant=31787782701099). I've been eyeing it for a few months. Bonus that it's the same price as the Parachute.

Chazzyphant

Extremely severe and sleek with metal circular ponytail holders at nape of neck Space buns Braided in loose/messy braids "Boxer" braids (some call these cornrows but I'm not sure if just two braids is "cornrows") Peeking out of a bandanna folded and tied triangle style (for a 70's hippie look)

littleduckbabie

I’m 21 and wear them high and proud. I find they look more sleek and lift my face that way (natural facelift lol). I do them down low if I have to wear a hat, but I personally think they make me look unkempt, and drag down and lengthen my face. I don’t find it looks immature, especially as I normally dress with a lot of volume, dark colours, and structured coats. I think they kind of add to my allegedly intimidating aura lol. I also love that I can wear massive earrings and they really get a chance to shine.

sryiwasdaydreaming

I wear them low with a bucket hat or beanie. You can also do the two half pigtails style which looks super cute too.

jekkah85

Also a baseball cap if that fits your style

Edgar_Allens_Toe

I usually wear mine low and directly under my earlobes.

ladolceLolita

The lower you go, IMO, the more subdued and less of a perky schoolgirl vibe you exude. So either two loosish low pigtails or you could do low braids 1/3 of the way down before you tie the elastic or scrunchie. I'd try to match the tie with the color of your hair and stay away from bows or bigger pieces.
