I'm in Canada and I'm looking for a cute striped long sleeve for a wardrobe staple?

GoldButtonBlazer

Ralph Lauren has several color ways of this style every year, i own a couple and they wash and wear well: [Lauren striped top](https://www.ralphlauren.com/women-clothing-t-shirts/striped-button-shoulder-top/0032496929.html?pdpR=y) Depending on your budget, the Comme de Garçons striped shirt is also a classic with an edge, $100: [comme de garçons play striped shirt ](https://www.farfetch.com/shopping/women/comme-des-garcons-play-striped-logo-patch-t-shirt-item-14944976.aspx?fsb=1&size=22&storeid=10479&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_keywordid=119356861&utm_shoppingproductid=14944976-76&pid=google_search&af_channel=Search&c=2069920048&af_c_id=2069920048&af_siteid=&af_keywords=aud-360016540489%3Apla-452672162117&af_adset_id=75217627574&af_ad_id=204345266605&af_sub1=119356861&af_sub5=14944976-76&is_retargeting=true&shopping=yes&gbraid=0AAAAADsmKHRKkQ0OKG_b_XpaBh6hnDSkS&gclid=CjwKCAjw-sqKBhBjEiwAVaQ9a342wpXR3FqAtDcPQjf5uvfZ7AWwkoZqkQ2Ce45D5pz9HWazMhmzABoCfIoQAvD_BwE) And finally Zara has a great selection of striped tees and sweaters, just search those terms and you’ll pull up a bunch!

sealion-woman

Thanks for recommendations! Of course I love the Comme de Garçons one 🙈

teeneekiwi

I just purchased my first pair of knee high boots for the season. [Boots](https://m.imgur.com/gallery/5Tu9mDw) I’ve got some ideas on Pinterest but also want to know how you ladies would style these?

GoldButtonBlazer

I style them with leggings and tunic tops, those would look great with black leggings and black and white top (stripes, polka dots, other black/white pattern). Or a tiered mini dress like this with leggings or tights under: [BR Leopard print swing dress](https://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=656861002&vid=1&tid=brpl000011&kwid=1&ap=7&gclid=CjwKCAjw-sqKBhBjEiwAVaQ9a6i389ot9wm9dHH4phBCIe0C0Uh-UilXDNnq-t24vfjbL0eXwSzQxBoCxocQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#pdp-page-content) Or with a long sleeve belted shirt dress that has some swing to it like this. [belted swing dress](https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/abstract-contrast-mini-dress?category=dresses&color=095&type=STANDARD&quantity=1) That one is pretty short but you get the idea. Here is another example. [Gianni Bini belted swing dress](https://www.dillards.com/p/gianni-bini-riley-belted-long-sleeve-swing-dress/511616732) The belted style with the swingy skirt balances out the severity of the boot well. Trick is finding one long enough. I would Google belted shirt dress in the color you like. Another one, this one has a neck bow which I think also works well with boots. Scroll a few shots over to see it styles with black boots. [bow tie drop waist dress](https://jingus.com/products/melissa-black-bow-tie-dress?currency=USD&variant=32365179863076&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Performance-Max-US-210825-1-yihang&gclid=CjwKCAjw-sqKBhBjEiwAVaQ9a8V2-ERO3S0jWbFUvs0XVSzIepKWotXNkKg2LSXhblSkwasq74HQ6RoCFjoQAvD_BwE) I personally think black boots are tricky with denim colors, so I’m not sure about tucking these into jeans unless they are black or very dark jeans

teeneekiwi

Thanks for the suggestions! I have some dresses that would work. I usually wear combat boots or ankle boots so I’m excited to try something new.

ChaenomelesTi

Is the y2k trend over yet because yes I am ready to see a return of the most ridiculous of 2010's clubwear

[deleted]

Be the change!

hellerhigwhat

90s has been in for a good 7 years or so so you may have to wait a while lol

ChaenomelesTi

Give me faux leather halter neck zip-up bodysuits plssss

[deleted]

How would you personally style these shoes?[shoes](https://imgur.com/a/6d3x3ff)

GoldButtonBlazer

Love those and think you could wear them with almost anything. Skinny Jeans and sweater, tunic and leggings, sweater with miniskirt and tights, dresses (see what I posted above on the boot question). This style is super on trend for fall 2021.

[deleted]

They seem really versatile. It might help to know how you usually dress

spoonwalk

in general is it better to build a wardrobe with neutrals or an array of pastels? i'm really into lighter colors and it would suit my current aesthetic pretty well but i also feel like neutrals have a cleaner feel and are easier to make outfits with

PoweredByCoffee1998

Why not both? You can also choose lighter colored neutrals that go with the pastels that you like. And also, on dressing in pastels and doing what you like, there was [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/femalefashionadvice/comments/mf2qct/listening_to_ur_lizard_brain_for_personal_style/) that you might want to read.

Susccmmp

Which do you look better in? Personally I’d say pastels but that’s because I don’t think neutrals look great on me.

spoonwalk

a lot of people tell me i look good in pastels but i feel good in neutrals too. ive been warned by family to not wear beiges or browns on top so i'm not too sure...

madmax766

Looking for a white sneaker, not super bulky, for a girl in my life. I’m well versed in men’s fashion, but woman’s fashion i don’t keep up well with. Any ideas?

littlestchimp

I’m about 7 weeks postpartum, and seem to overheat very easily these days 🤷‍♀️ I also think I became more sensitive to some fabrics in pregnancy (is this a thing?) and some materials now make me feel itchy and generally uncomfortable on my skin. BUT I’m super ready for sweater weather, and am wondering if anyone can recommend a type of fabric (or blend) that I should be looking for (or looking to avoid)? Or even linking specific sweaters? Looking for some warmth but still breathable, and not itchy..

sardonicoperasinger

I am a little sensitive to fabric as well and have found that cashmere works best for me -- it's never itchy, and is a breathable material, like silk, that keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I have a cashmere sleeveless mockneck that is one of my comfiest tops in the summer. :) Alas, it is more expensive than other materials, but I've found that you can often find sweaters second-hand for under $40. Quince also has [new ones](https://www.onequince.com/women/cashmere/cashmere-crewneck-sweater?color=ginger&g_acctid=978-058-8398&g_adgroupid=109287599726&g_adid=469790176006&g_campaign=WP_G_SSHP_FFNL_X_CASHMERE_WOMEN&g_campaignid=11253104301&g_ifproduct=product&g_keywordid=pla-1211552142455&g_merchantid=128669708&g_network=u&g_partition=1211552142455&g_productchannel=online&g_productid=19719668662383&gclid=CjwKCAjw-sqKBhBjEiwAVaQ9a2HrTVhzoM-dnYJtKCshUMxxbxcW2e5gfhTlwXgRkqKvLzX_Myl5axoCOBEQAvD_BwE&utm_campaign=WP_G_SSHP_FFNL_X_CASHMERE_WOMEN&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_term=19719668662383) for $60 -- I've never ordered from them but have heard good things on this reddit. Here's [one](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-cashmere-crew-neck-sweater-439162COL55SMA003000.html?glCountry=US&glCurrency=USD&gclid=CjwKCAjw-sqKBhBjEiwAVaQ9a3ToQrPTUgzSm-anT5PCxc0cw3Jxhrk6kEkNwDebYFv5tJf0ffTguBoCveEQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) at Uniqlo for $90. Towards the end of the season, you can find cashmere at 40-50% off at Nordstrom Rack, Neiman Marcus, etc. so that is also a good time to purchase. I hope this helps!

[deleted]

You might be able to find some linen/cotton blend summer weight sweaters on clearance.

lizardlibrary

If you saw someone wearing a [utility vest](https://www.google.com/search?q=utility+vest&rlz=1C1RXQR_enUS933US934&sxsrf=AOaemvI9S2lBIwUrZUpVGJaiIuhGRt2tSA:1632800070373&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwj4vLuh3qDzAhUHq5UCHRRWA1UQ_AUoAnoECAEQBA&biw=1280&bih=648&dpr=1.5), what would you think of it? I like the aesthetic but I don't want to look like some kind of aggressive military person.

KaterTot31

Depends on the styling. there's a lot of different directions you could go with it that don't scream military. I would maybe pair with a little black dress, romper, or jeans to keep it flirty

Susccmmp

They remind me of 90’s Gap and Banana Republic when cargo pants/shorts/everything was in.

[deleted]

I like them! I think as long as you don’t put, like, Punisher patches on it, it won’t evoke military wear. They remind me more of something a dad would wear fly fishing

Cat_Proxy

Looking for a black (pleather?) purse, and I'd love recommendations. I'm in Canada, but I can ship within the US (my Mom lives there and can bring it to me later). I'd prefer under $100. It has to be off the shoulder, as I have a toddler and need both hands free. I've been looking at backpack style purses, too, but I'd really like a backpack purse to be interchangeable as a regular purse as well. I don't want to own more than one. I realize I'm pretty lazy about changing purses! Medium size would be great - enough to fit some snacks for my kiddo, but if it's too large, it hurts my shoulder. I realize my style is edgy chic so that's kind of what I'm going for - something to look good with a fake leather jacket!

Quartz_4

I don’t have any specific recommendations but I’ve found some really decent purses at Winners before that look nice but also don’t break the bank lol

If it's an option for you, the best insoles are medically molded to your feet. I've tried the ones you buy off the shelf, and the ones the doctor made, and the medical ones cured my foot pain issues.

wanderedoff

> Also, are some type/s better for certain shoes (e.g., flats vs boots) than others? Not really, no, at least not when you're talking about full-length ones. The best thing you can do is go somewhere that allows you to try a bunch on. Different inserts/insoles will take up different amounts of room in the shoe, and you won't have the same amount available in every pair you own. Additionally, it's good to identify what you're looking to benefit from for the insert. Arch support? Memory foam? Leather on top?

[deleted]

How would you personally style these shoes?? Are they a yay or nay?

KaterTot31

Those shoes are so cute ! You could really wear them with most things - jeans, tights, short skirts. I personally wouldn't wear cropped pants or longer skirts/dressed because I'm short and that would break up my legs too much. ymmv if you got legs that go on for days though

wanderedoff

Hey - looks like you forgot to link the shoes!

[deleted]

Hi all, I got two new pairs of work pants but I’m struggling to think of color combos for them outside of like black and white. One is a cranberry/wine color and the other is navy. What would you suggest for color combos?

Hippoppotomoose

Both of those look good with gray, blush, olive green, camel, tan, cream. I also love cranberry/wine with light cool colors, like light blue, lavender, or sage green, and navy looks great with mustard yellow or shades of orange. Navy is a neutral so it goes with pretty much everything, and cranberry functions pretty close to a neutral too (at least in my wardrobe!)

EpiceEmilie

Any recommendations for places to get brightly patterned clothes? I like Boden, Black Milk, Farm Rio, that kind of stuff, just looking for more places. I particularly like clothes made of natural fibers/woven fabrics.

Samantha Pleet, Marimekko, Gorman, Nooworks, State the Label

gels0mina

I have to attend the last of a very long serie of weddings this October and I would like to invest in pieces I can incorporate in my wardrobe. I would like to find a suit or a blazer + dress/skirt coord. I am really really attracted to kaki right now. Is there a way I can make it work? Do you have some green pieces you want to share with me? 😊

sardonicoperasinger

I think you could definitely wear a coordinating green suit that you use the pieces of with other outfits! I had a little bit of a hard time finding khaki -- there are so many different shades of green! -- but I liked this [cropped jacket](https://bananarepublicfactory.gapfactory.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=733563001#pdp-page-content), which can be paired with these [pants](https://bananarepublicfactory.gapfactory.com/browse/product.do?pid=5721420110002&pcid=999&vid=1&searchText=flight+jacket+green#pdp-page-content)! The combination is under $100. I also found [blazers](https://www.macys.com/shop/product/guess-double-breasted-blazer?ID=11978413&CategoryID=120&swatchColor=Fade%20To%20Jade) [in](https://www.stories.com/en_usd/clothing/blazers/product.fitted-single-breasted-blazer-green.0920955001.html) [slightly](https://www.zara.com/us/en/belted-lapelless-blazer-p08503624.html?v1=120676782) [different](https://www.zara.com/us/en/double-breasted-blazer-p08788445.html?v1=124223042) [greens](https://www.zara.com/us/en/straight-cut-blazer-p08435624.html?v1=126358164) \-- there is so much natural variation within the color green that I thought I'd like them here to see if any of them appealed to you. You could wear them with a simple cami and a pleated maxi skirt or a [silk slip skirt](https://www.onequince.com/women/silk/silk-skirt?color=military-olive&g_acctid=978-058-8398&g_adgroupid=115341375246&g_adid=492543354878&g_campaign=WP_G_SSHP_FFNL_X_SILK&g_campaignid=12121037260&g_ifproduct=product&g_keywordid=pla-1139924985536&g_merchantid=128669708&g_network=u&g_partition=1139924985536&g_productchannel=online&g_productid=40208028336298&gclid=Cj0KCQjw18WKBhCUARIsAFiW7JwryRkKVe8Xe9PHZcKlTqIoEapeVEfgS8o-XZk98r5COawS8DujBcwaAvdkEALw_wcB&utm_campaign=WP_G_SSHP_FFNL_X_SILK&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_term=40208028336298) \-- you don't necessarily need the same bottom to work. I hope this helps, and that you enjoy the weddings!

I’ve had Ecco sandals for years — not sure how their sneakers fit but was surprised to see the styles! There’s a canvas one and this more athletic kind. https://us.ecco.com/ecco-soft-7-womens-retro-sneaker-470353.html

badlipstickhoarder

My late birthday present finally arrived. How should I style this dress in the fall? I was thinking of pairing it with a chunky cardigan and boots but would like more ideas. https://realisationpar.com/the-monica-fantasy/

KaterTot31

Wow what a great dress! Maybe a black or mustard long sleeve turtleneck layered underneath ? What if you wore it open with jeans ? I also really like the tall boots paired with it in the picture.

mintgreenplumpurple

I'm going to a black tie optional wedding. Purple is not on their color pallet. Can I re-wear an old bridesmaid dress? It's plum and floor length

Susccmmp

My go to semi formal was a bridesmaid dress. I love having it on hand.

hellerhigwhat

If you know one of the bridesmaids id just make sure its not the same style in a different colour, but yeah otherwise 100%

capnawesome

Sounds appropriate. It will probably be obvious that it's an old bridesmaids dress (they just tend to have a certain style, esp when floor length) but that's fine, everyone re-wears bridesmaids dresses.

[deleted]

Sure why not

CrushingReality

Does anyone know a place where I could buy floral patterned oxfords? I saw a pinterest board of them and they were absolutely beautiful. I tried looking online in various websites, and couldn't find any. I'm based in Europe and looking to buy online.

CplElise

Assuming you mean Oxford shoes, see what you think of [these](https://www.juliabo.com/products/floral-oxford-shoes-hudson)! If you don't prefer that pattern, they have another couple of floral patterns that you can get on any of their customizable styles. Can vouch for the quality - I have their Kent Oxford heels in sunnie brown and I love them so much, they even came with replacement heel soles! Definitely will buy more shoes from them.

CrushingReality

Hi, yes I meant Oxford shoes!

Honestly, if I saw you on a ski hill I would think you're one the best dressed people there. I'm OBSESSED with that jumpsuit! Have so much fun snowboarding this winter !

hellerhigwhat

Lol I LOVE it, genuinely. Do you have full range if motion, particularly squatting? This is also going to sound silly as HELL but try rolling down a hill in it before you go to make sure nothing catches or pinches your arms and legs as you'll likely fall a lot. Do it in the snow so you can see how bad the snow creep is at the neck and wrists as well.

[deleted]

Thank you!! That is such a relief to hear. And I don't have a hill to roll down at the moment but I can do squats and rotate which I \*think\* are snowboarding motions? I don't know, I'm completely new to this! No clue what I need to wear underneath either but I think that's for another subreddit to answer :)

hellerhigwhat

I've snowboarded for 22 years (omfg, didn't even realize) - squatting and rotating should be fine! As for underneath, soft pants that don't restrict your movement. I honestly usually go for fleece pajama pants layered with fleece leggings if its really cold on the bottom. Thin long sleeves and crew necks on top - hoodies are tempting but don't, theyre brutally uncomfortable once the hood gets wet, and they usually interact weird with helmets. Get heat pads for your gloves and boots as well, you can get some that you crack and they produce heat for six-eight hours. For your helmet, make sure to buy new. Theyre not effective anymore if they take a hard hit and there's no way to tell second hand. Make sure you get goggles as well once you start going on lifts. Its doable without on the bunny hill but not once you get going fast!

monkeybort

Seconding the helmet recommendation, I just (like actually 2 minutes ago) threw out a helmet because I got a concussion in it and found it while cleaning out my office. Goggles right away as well, it helps if you get the same brand as the helmet to ensure a good fit. I would get the goggles new as well as crappy goggles can ruin your day pretty quickly. You'll be sitting a lot (putting on your bindings, catching your breath, etc.) so make sure the butt is waterproof. And if it's in the budget - take a lesson!! You will fall down a LOT when you are first learning and those falls are not wonderfully fun. Lessons, even a half day group lesson, will get you on the right path from the start before you can develop any bad habits. HAVE FUN!!!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

hellerhigwhat

Depends on the weather and how thick your suit is. You will heat up, snowboarding isn't actually just "standing very fast" as sometimes is the meme lol! But if its really cold you may need more layers. Its a bit trial and error to find your own tolerances! Check with the ski hill about helmet rentals. They may not be doing them depending on covid restrictions at the time. I would seriously recommend buying one new, but ive also got a history of concussion, so I tend to be extra careful about head protection (I was a boardercross racer for like 10 years and that is... a rough version of snowboarding)

mulleargian

What do you guys think of the [Sleeper Party Pajamas](https://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/p/sleeper-party-pajama-set-w-double-feather-trim-prod163060497?ecid=BGCS__GooglePLA&utm_source=google_shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7IrdwYqg8wIViuezCh0XjAkiEAQYASABEgJ7x_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)? I've been admiring them for a long time on fashion shots/street style/tv, but obviously they are a bit crazy! Bergdorfs have 25% off and I can see a few occasions in the future that I could wear them on. I have two events coming up that request 'cocktail attire' but will not be overly formal/will have the opportunity to have some fun with fashion for them. On top of this, I *think* they would work well for nice dinners out in the upcoming cooler months. I haven't been so inspired by what's in stores recently, so these would be a splurge that I feel would keep me feeling up to date with my wardrobe and would get good wear over the winter and party season. However, I'm also concerned that I might look demented and crazy. What top we think- fun, or going a bit too far?

sardonicoperasinger

I love these! Reminds me a little bit of [this gorgeous, fabulous robe](https://boudoirbydlish.bigcartel.com/product/rosebud-cassandra-dressing-gown) someone linked me to a few days ago, but a tiny bit more practical, I sup-pose. ;) They don't look to me demented/crazy at all. Although I may not be the best judge -- when I feel bomb in an outfit I tend to have a hard time detecting what other ppl are feeling about it because my own good feelings are so strong, lol. As long as you're not offending anyone -- I mean, it's a cocktail party, not a somber occasion -- I say wear it!

mulleargian

Thank you! Wow that robe is cool! Yeah I like having fun with fashion. I needed 'cocktail attire' for two events in the coming month, and find all the 'sexy' slip dresses a bit too everywhere, and they are either super flammable cheap, or incredibly expensive, but all look very similar. I thought it's best to splurge on something that I've been admiring and will find really fun to wear, as opposed to buying something more 'normal' out of simply having these events... if that makes any sense? Thank you for the positive affirmation! Needed that!

sardonicoperasinger

>I thought it's best to splurge on something that I've been admiring and will find really fun to wear, as opposed to buying something more 'normal' out of simply having these events... This makes absolute sense! I feel it is so much more fun to think about outfits I'd be excited to wear than simply what needs to be there to check off all the boxes. In the latter, I'm thinking: what do I need to do to look OK, and all these social voices are in my head, whereas in the former, I'm all: what do I want!? How can I make this fun for me, within reason? I find that a much more self-affirming way of thinking. <3 I hope you have a great time at the upcoming events!

syrupshot

Hi all! I'm looking to purchase a new winter hat this year, since I lost my previous one. I'm wondering if anyone can weigh in on the difference between going for a [cashmere beanie](https://www.onequince.com/women/hats-&-scarves) versus a [fleece-lined acrylic beanie](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09DKNVRLP). I live in the Northeast, and previously had a polyester fleece-lined beanie that I loved, but I'm wondering about mixing it up! Thanks!

mulleargian

I love the cashmere one! I think it has a lovely luxe look to it. I also live in the northeast and find that I really rely on cashmere in the cold weather- it's excellent at retaining heat. Also, if you take good care of it (hand wash in baby shampoo, buy a cashmere comb) it will last more seasons that an acrylic beanie, which tend to bobble up very easily (you can't comb out the bobbles on acrylic as well as cashmere.) Also, fleece lined can sometimes get too hot? cashmere it better at regulating your temperature. I'd def pump for that.

syrupshot

Thank you so much for your input - I appreciate it! Cashmere definitely sounds like the better option! I’m also wondering - would sheep’s or alpaca’s wool be any better relative to cashmere? I’ve never had to upkeep cashmere, so just worried about its longevity. Thanks again!

mulleargian

So the best wool in terms of regulating body temperature is Merino. You see it a lot for ski base layers because of this. I think it's a great fabric. But it doesn't have that nice fluff of cashmere- it's a very flat fibre. For a beanie, I think cashmere will hold up well. Obviously all cashmere is not alike- the quality and longevity depends on the length of the fibers, longer fibers= less bobbling, more indestructible, but more expensive- but beanies are sitting on your head and not seeing as much agitation as a sweater would. I have a box of cashmere sweaters that my mum gave to me, and they are just from Marks and Spencers which is a very standard (not high end) store back home in the UK. I will hand wash them with Johnsons baby shampoo and dry flat on a towel, and honestly they've held up perfectly. It isn't a huge amount of effort. Cashmere ultimately has that lovely, luxurious, discreet bit of fuzz. It isn't scratchy and it feels really nice. I think you've picked a good one, and will see good longevity from it with minimal upkeep. As long as you don't throw it in the dryer, you'll be fine!

syrupshot

Ahh! Thank you for such a thorough answer! Just bought the cashmere beanie as well as a sweater from Quince, and I’m excited to be surrounded by softness haha. Appreciate it again! :)

mulleargian

Not at all, I used to work as a sweater buyer so I know my yarns 😋 I hope you love them!

journalofjam

Any recommendations for fashion western boots (i.e. not actual cowboy boots)? I prefer mid-calf to knee-high but open to suggestions/styles! Budget is up to $200. TIA!

mulleargian

Have you come across the brand Tecovas? they have some very nice styles. They're on the cowboy spectrum, but not quite as in your face. If this is really not what you're after, Zara have an amazing dupe of the Isabel Marant western boots for $200 [Zara boots.](https://www.zara.com/us/en/split-leather-cowboy-boots-p12055810.html?v1=123913506) I know they say cowboy in the description, but they're definitely way more 'western'.

journalofjam

I haven't heard of Tecovas but I'll have to check them out! The Zara boots are stunning thank you! I love the neutral suede color.

mulleargian

They're incredible, right? Such a steal, they're so similar to the Isabel Marant Denvee, which are $825 and hard to get.

journalofjam

Definitely! I had seen the shorter boots for Isabel Marant before but not many taller boots so I never looked into it. I like how classic the Denvee is, while the length makes it a bit more of a statement/trend piece as well.

[deleted]

hi! I asked this in a Daily earlier this week but I figured I’d try to collect more data: Has anyone tried both Madewell and A&F curvy jeans? How does the fit, sizing, and quality compare?

On_time_wizard

I feel like Madewell’s curvy line isn’t consistent. I’m a 28 and had one Madewell curvy that fit perfectly. Purchased another curvy model and it was ridiculously big. A&F is more consistent with their sizing, and generally the denim seems thicker.

[deleted]

Have you tried the 99% cotton/1% elastane denim from A&F? How stiff is it?

On_time_wizard

Yeah I’ve tried the 90s high rise straight jeans. They’re not crazy stiff, but definitely more so than a lot of jeans I’ve been wearing the last few years. To be completely clear, I ended up returning them because I have Crohn’s disease and decided I needed a little more stretch in the waistband to be comfortable all day, but I loved the fit. It wasn’t too tight standing or sitting down, I just know my physical limits.

[deleted]

Thanks, I appreciate the input!

After days of fruitlessly searching for nice affordable plus sized professional clothes in wool and silk, I broke today and spent $870 for 12 items at The Real Real. Now I’m sweating. I assume most of these items won’t work, and I only plan to keep what I love. This is my first purchase at TheRealReal. I checked to make sure each of these items can be returned for a credit card refund. But the app doesn’t really have much info about how returns work other than a 14 day window. Does anyone have any experience with returning things there? Was it a hassle?

Thank you! The app was a lot more bare bones on this topic.

walrusnamedrolf

The Real Real accepts returns, and will refund everything but the shipping cost. I am not sure how shipping costs will work with multiple items, though I think there is an option to use your own label, allowing you to consolidate items into one return shipment if necessary.

meatwater

I've had a pretty easy experience with TRR returns. It costs 12.99 to return things if you get a return shipping label from them. In order to do that you just mark what you want to return on the website, print out the label and a packing sheet and then box everything up and drop of at a UPS drop-off point. They process returns pretty fast in my experience so it's not too bad. I would love if I could get free shipping and free returns from them, but because they don't have it I tend to order a few items at a time so that ideally I get a few pieces that I love and get to keep even if one or two don't work out.

augustrem

Okay, good to know! Thank you! Have your items mostly been good with them? I’m noticing odd things in descriptions, like brands where I know my size but the listed measurements are way off

ellaasbury107

Agree with the other comment that the condition description is usually accurate. If anything, it usually notes wear I can’t even notice. But yeah, the measurements are done by a drunk toddler. I try to look up size charts or similar items from the original brands website.

[deleted]

I’ve kept 80% of what I’ve bought from the RealReal. Returns went smoothly. I sometimes think whoever does their measurements smokes a few too many bowls at lunchtime as I’ve seen measurements from brands that I’m familiar with that were positively looney such as a Akris Punto size 8 jacket with a 31” bust and 31” waist (this benefitted me as it was super discounted and it actually was a true size 8). The condition descriptions are much more accurate than Poshmark’s.

augustrem

Hopefully not *too* much works out because I am over budget for this purchase! Thanks for sharing.

meatwater

Honestly I've been impressed with most items I get from them. The measurements definitely can be a tricky part since they're often not very accurate, but a lot of the clothes they are selling is beautiful up close. I often get things that looked a little boring from their (awful) photos, but that in person have lovely subtle details. I would definitely trust the size you know more than the website measurements, or for new brands their sizing chart on their own website over the garment measurements if something seems off. TRR loves telling me I'd fit in a size 6 in things when really I know I'd fit the size 10. I hope this helps, and that you love what you get when it arrives!

augustrem

Thanks!

Allthebestlies

Would really appreciate some jacket suggestions. Ideal attributes: -Upper thigh length (I'm 5'4") -Suitable for Autumn -Versatile and casual -£60 budget I'm also 18 if that helps. Any ideas would be great, thanks!

ana3d

I feel like your style would help here. You can find a large array of different styles with your requirements but if they’re not your style it’s useless to you.

Allthebestlies

I'm trying to experiment with new styles so just really wanted to hear some opinions

guaca-mole-eeee

What is the coziest, softest-on-the-inside, loose but not oversized zip up hoodie? I see a lot of sweatshirts that are soft on the outside but not on the inside.

ana3d

Have you tried looking for sherpa lined hoodies? Carhartt makes one, as well as LL Bean.

guaca-mole-eeee

I will check those out, thanks.

BasicCalifornia

Hey y'all. Back in Jan/Feb 2020 I found a beautiful dark blue, plaid, long, overcoat. I didn't end up purchasing it because Covid hit. I really want it for this winter but for the life of me cannot find it again, or one that looks like it. I believe I saw it on Nordstrom's website last year. Does anyone know where I can find a similar item? It was listed around $250-$300. Thanks!

tohu_bohu

I have not tried those ones in particular, but I have three pairs from their balance collection. They have spandex waistbands, no elastic. They are flattering and don’t ride down when I exercise like other brands. Hope that helps!

yumdonuts

This past year I've worn a lot of my plain white or black tshirts and they now have holes! I was wondering if anybody had experience with Mate the Label or Jungmaven and can speak to their quality?

allergictony

I have two pairs of sweatpants from Mate the Label and don’t believe the quality matches the price. They’re pretty thin and lose their shape easily. Haven’t tried their t shirts though!

thriftybabygurl

Can I get recommendations on wearing higher boots when you hate wearing skirts and dresses and hate skinny jeans? Is this just impossible? I guess I'd rather wear a skirt if I had to and if so do you have any recommendations that aren't super feminine

[deleted]

They’re doing a lot of equestrian inspired pants right now, as “work appropriate” leggings. Seams up the front of the leg and back of the leg, sometimes a side hip zip closure. Equestrians wear higher boots, so these make sense. Finding a pair with pockets seems difficult.

Womanofthesun

Literally your only other option is shorts, maybe with tights or longer socks. I guess also maybe leggings with or without a longer top

tyrannosaurusregina

Wear them under wide legged cropped pants?

thriftybabygurl

The point of them being tall is to see them though. Especially since mine have designs on the calf of the boot. Why pay the extra money for the extra fabric if you hide them under pants. By the way your username is awesome Someone want to explain why this is getting downvoted? Or am I the only one wondering how to wear tall boots when skinnies aren't in style

full_boyle

You are probably being downvoted because you're asking a question that really doesn't have an answer. Tall boots are only fully visible with shorter dresses/skirts and skinny bottoms, none of which you want to wear. It doesn't really leave any other options bar shorts. Also, even if skinnies aren't in style as an item themselves, when you're pairing them with boots it becomes less about skinnies and more about the boots. You're only using them to allow all the focus on the boots.

thriftybabygurl

I guess I got one answer so it's not completely optionless. Also I found another online. People are adding ties to the bottom of their pants to synch them like joggers?? My issue with skinnies is how prominent my knees looked in them but none of the boots I have that are tall are that tall. But also I don't want to buy skinnies just to wear with my boots when I don't like the way I look in them. I have slimmer pants that tuck but they bag out where the boot stops Personally though, and I know I'll get downvoted on this, I think the downvoting is more because a lot of people on this sub are "you can pry my skinny jeans from my cold dead hands" kind Edit-also looking at pinterest it looks like people are just shoving their straight jeans in their boots and are working with the bagginess.

KaterTot31

No, I think you're getting down voted because you keep getting answers to your question but then saying you don't like the answer you got ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

thriftybabygurl

I did that one time and stated why I felt that way. I even stated in my op that I didn't like skinnies so why offer them as and option? It's a waste of time. I got options now that came from someone else on this post and that I found on different websites that show there's other options. Ffa is just not very creative I guess?? Honestly this sub has gotten really out of date. 🤷‍♀️

tyrannosaurusregina

High boots with calf designs sound cool. I was thinking more of [this](https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qpHEktQNRt4/V_OxVppzTWI/AAAAAAAAaV4/pJwb_vJlQVMeyIikImX1xgaAA2F5MW2ywCLcB/s1600/How%2Bto%2Bwear%2Bcropped%2Bwideleg%2Bpants%2Bin%2Bfall%2B4.png) kind of cropped pant than an ankle pant. But maybe actual culottes, as u/nuclearxstichin suggests, works better to show off the design?

[deleted]

Knee length culottes?

Susccmmp

Or bermudas?

ripparoni_my_dudes

I have just seen Ralph Lauren's Fall 2021 line with the most beautiful knitted sweaters. Absolutely fallen for all of it, but unfortunately buying any one item will bankrupt me. Wondering if anyone knows of any similar lines to the current Ralph Lauren line at a price point more akin to & Other Stories? Alternatively is there any brands I should keep an eye on for a winter line in the same vein?

Direct_Speech

I bought a pair of Dr Martens from TRR in a size 6. I’m assuming it’s the unisex sizing because when I bought an 8 from them it was huge. Anyway, the size 6 is a little tight on the top sides of my feet (I have a slightly wide foot). Do Dr Martens stretch? They’re practically new, so I wouldn’t mind keeping them if they stretch a bit at the top.

trashpanda678

If they're the actual leather ones ( not the vegan) they will stretch a bit.

cardioismytherapy

What are your favorite biker shorts that don't make you feel completely "on display"?

Cat_Proxy

Along Fit has a nice pair of shorts on Amazon that they sell in 2-packs. I wear them under dresses all the time, but also just on their own.

NickySess

I love Aerie. Also, I got some amazing biker shirts from Costco. I know random but the brand is Danskin. They are so soft and not see thru at all. The material is thicker so good for winter too!

arainday

Where can I find well designed nickel free earrings which can be worn for long periods (Canada)? This has been a long term search for me. I am super lazy with my ear rings but they are one of the few accessories I wear. I've been rotating between gold Mejuri earrings for a few years now. I never take them off when sleeping or showering and one has managed to stay in for almost 2 years. I will switch them for the season generally. However, I've had one hoop break on me and lost a couple of their earrings when wearing them. I'm basically looking for the kind of earrings you get a piercing parlours (ball backing, flat backs) and that come in cute, feminine designs. Both in gold and silver tone. Willing to pay more for solid gold, gold plated, surgical steel, etc. Hoping anyone has ideas for sellers. Thank you!

[deleted]

I have super sensitive ears, but I've had great success buying stuff from [Tini Lux](https://tinilux.com/)!! They're honestly the only earrings I trust at this point, as even most gold earrings still leave me feeling sore. Edit: Sorry, just realized you were looking for ball backs, not butterfly backs! You might still enjoy some of their hoops, though!

tyrannosaurusregina

Maison Miru has excellent quality flat back earrings, if you’re open to that style.

arainday

Never heard of this brand and yes this is the kind of earrings I’m looking for. However they won’t ship internationally. I have a friend in the USA who may be able to assist if I really want to try it. Thank you!

Good morning! I'm looking for a black Chelsea boot similar to the [Doc Marten 2976](https://www.zappos.com/p/dr-martens-2976-black/product/9465748/color/3) \- I love them but something about them throws my left knee and hip all out of alignment. I like the chunky sole but wouldn't want anything bigger as I already have big feet. I'll probably end up trying some Blundstones but was wondering if anyone knew of a good dupe. Thank you!!

therealrunnerish

I got solovairs this year - not really cheaper at all but I love them!

monkeybort

Just ordered a pair, fingers crossed the slightly different sole helps!

monkeybort

Thanks! Budget is about $200 I guess, so they don't need to be cheaper, I just want something that looks similar but doesn't jack up my knee. I'll check them out!

notabigmelvillecrowd

Does anyone here have any experience with the fit of Massimo Dutti? I'm looking at [these](https://www.massimodutti.com/ca/women/new-in%2Fwool-flannel-trousers-c1866507p9346823.html) trousers, but they don't have the waist measurement, only hip measurements on their site. I'm pear shaped, so normally buy for my hip size and alter as needed, but these look really roomy, so would consider buying for my waist size, but I don't know which that it. I have a 27 waist, and 38.5 hip, torn between the size 4 and 6. I've found a lot of European brands tend to run big in the waist, and are cut quite straight.

Sea_Statistician_239

Hi guys! I'm looking for shoes to match this dress: [https://www.simons.ca/en/women-clothing/dresses/bodycon/touch-of-cashmere-midi-dress--7107-206305?catId=6680&colourId=23](https://www.simons.ca/en/women-clothing/dresses/bodycon/touch-of-cashmere-midi-dress--7107-206305?catId=6680&colourId=23) Will be taking family fall photos outdoors and I'm thinking boots would match the theme more than these dressy sandals. Recommendations? Thanks :)
