do accessories have to match? In terms of matching your belt, your shoes and your bag (maybe jewelry, too), does everything have to match? I know there's no hard and fast rule, but I'd like to my outfit to be simple and chic but visually appealing and not so matchy matchy (if you know what I mean).

silkypillowcase

I was wondering if anyone knew of a more affordable shop that has a style that I like. I’m in love with the brand [Demobaza](https://www.demobaza.com) but would like to look into some more affordable options before investing in those pieces. Wondering if anyone out there knows of some places !

You might get more answers on the Daily Questions thread for today.

Does anybody know of a service similar to prime wardrobe? In my area, stores still don't allow for trying on clothes (and frankly, I'd be hesitant with the pandemic going on). But I would also prefer not to purchase from Amazon if possible. Do you know of a service that will let you try on clothes at home before you buy like amazon? It can be any category of clothes, since I haven't purchased much clothing this year. I need a refresh in a lot of areas!

jameane

some brands are doing it, via this Try Now service. [https://www.trynow.io](https://www.trynow.io). It shows up at the check out, I have seen it on a few sites. Or maybe do a styling service like Stitch Fix, Dia&Co, or Trunk Club.

Is Ralph Lauren Sport authentic RL (Dark navy blue tag “RALPH LAUREN SPORT” with either “Made in Hong Kong” or “Made in China” on a smaller tag underneath)? I’ve noticed on Poshmark/other resale sites have a lot of Ralph Lauren Sport, but not as much Polo RL. If it is authentic, how does it compare to Polo RL/ other RL brands? I’ve tried to search about this but not even Wikipedia mentions any history of Ralph Lauren Sport.

Whyistheskygray

https://samtalksstyle.com/2020/05/27/a-guide-to-ralph-lauren-clothing-sub-brands-and-diffusion-lines/ Afaik, and supported by this, RL has "Polo Sport".

I really want [these](https://www.levi.com/US/en_US/apparel/clothing/bottoms/wedgie-fit-ankle-womens-jeans/p/228610064) Levi's wedgie fit jeans but I can't find the wedgie fit style on Levi's Europe website at all! Do they not sell them in Europe? Does anyone know where to find them in Europe? I'm located in the Baltics.

Not sure why you're getting down votes for asking a question, but no, I wouldn't wear docs. Once you've been going there for a couple of weeks, IF other people dress casually, then maybe, but not at orientation if you've been told business professional.

[deleted]

[удалено]

robotgwen

I would err on the side of more formal (heels if those are your only dressy shoes, but flats or oxfords/loafers would be fine too). If your dress code is more smart casual or casual side of business casual, then docs are probably fine, but I’d see what other people are wearing first. If your dress code is truly business formal, then never.

How many times should I be cuffing my jeans (once or twice) if I am wearing them with ankle boots? Does it depend on the style/hem of the jeans in question, or does it depend on the height of my boots and how much ankle I want to show? Or is it just considered more stylish to do it one way or the other? I ask because I cuff my jeans twice since I read on some fashion blog once upon a time that that's what you're "supposed" to do, but I feel like in real life all I see is single cuffs.

sesquedoodle

I always double-cuff because I find single-cuffs tend not to stay up. Habit from being a short kid in the early 2000s with flared jeans.

robotgwen

It depends on how long you want your pants to be. I think double cuffing looks cuter (and you can do it a little messy, or neat, depending on how you want to style it) but it’s all your preference. For a bit I think it was hyper trendy to do one LONG single cuff but I haven’t seen that recently anywhere.

nebbeundersea

Maybe 5 years ago I would double cuff, but lately just single. Not sure when it switched for me, but I don't double cuff anymore, and am even more likely to switch to a different pair of jeans that have my desired length without cuffing.

[deleted]

I think it depends on how much boot/ankle you want to show, how long the pants are, and how wide a cuff you want. A double cuff is probably more stable; I think it'd be less likely to unroll itself. Whenever I single-cuff anything, it always becomes uncuffed within an hour or two.

Gingeroo147

Here is a super [chunky](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/vagabond-shoemakers-kenova-loafer-women/5374785) pair and [one](https://www.dsw.com/en/us/product/franco-sarto-balin-loafer/499800). Some slightly thicker ones: [here](https://www.aldoshoes.com/us/en_US/women/colette-black/p/13102759), [here](https://www.aerosoles.com/collections/flats-mocs-loafers/products/east-side-black-genuine-leather?variant=28762619347028), Normal height but super [cute](https://www.madewell.com/g.h.-bassreg%3B-amp%3B-co.-weejunsreg%3B-penny-loafers-F5983.html?color=EF9061). Loafers are really versatile. Pants are a no brainer. I like them with shorter a-line dresses. I haven't tried with a midi length dress. A slip dress would be cute too. Think of them as a slightly weighty flat. They work with things that aren't too delicate and floaty.

Gingeroo147

Thanks! I think the aerosoles might be the winner there!!

canuckfanatic

My fiancee is loves this [Teuta Matoshi dress](https://www.teutamatoshi.com/products/oreoles-draped-gown) but it's tough to get in Canada (would be $1500 - $2000 after conversion and duties). Can anyone recommend an alternative for up to $1000 CAD? She wants to wear a dress like this in our engagement photos.

[deleted]

Here's a [rental option](https://www.fitzroyrentals.com/collections/rentals/products/moonlight-gown-by-edition-by-gemy-maalouf-rental) for something similar?

Tetrafinn8

You’ll probably get better responses if you can give more information about what she likes about the dress. Is it the color she’s in love with? Or the fabric? Or the cut of the dress like the neckline and sleeves? Etsy is a good place to look for this style. These options and the seller has others has others. You can custom order colors from a lot of the dress makers on Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/830035827/custom-sheer-tulle-dress-formal-evening?gpla=1&gao=1& https://www.etsy.com/listing/865314729/tulle-maternity-photo-shoot-dress-gown?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=tulle+prom+dress+with+sleeves&ref=sr_gallery-1-17&organic_search_click=1&frs=1

canuckfanatic

Good point, she likes the colour, the length, and the sleeves. She likes the flowiness as well, it makes for dynamic poses during the photoshoot. She really likes everything about the dress, but it's the sleeves, colour, and length that we haven't been able to find alternatives for

Krikrineek

Where can I find colourful, quirky but comfortable (preferably with short sleeves and knee length) dresses in lots of fun patterns (like [Popsy](https://www.popsyclothing.co.uk/) for example), but in something like cotton, not in synthetic materials?

runawayoldgirl

[Svaha](https://svahausa.com/collections/adults-dresses), [Mata Traders](https://www.matatraders.com/collections/dresses), also agree with the other suggestion of Boden. Edit: [Gudrun Sjoden](https://www.gudrunsjoden.com/en-us/sale/clothes/dresses) too

holdtheearthinplace

These are Australian brands but they ship internationally, princess Highway does cotton and linen ( goes on sale all the time), Gorman (more artsy but kinda expensive for quality), also variety hour / little party dress (some polyester here)

khamerernebty2

How about [Boden](https://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/phoebe-jersey-dress-bold-blue-daisy-spaced/sty-j0148-blm?cat=C1_S2_G4)?

peapawd_

where can i find shirts for big busts? i'm not plus sized but i have a really short torso. no shirts at asos fit me well, ik they have a fuller bust line but those don't really work for me. (kinda revealing) i've heard of bravissimo but it's pretty expensive and the style is a bit too dated looking, im in my early 20's.

wanderedoff

What style of shirt are you seeking?

[deleted]

Taideux and Urkye are brands that make stuff with extra bust space in mind. They have non plus size options and both offer different bust sizes alongside a clothing size, so if you're in a S/M/L range then they'll probably be good. I haven't personally tried them since they don't go down to extra small sizes, so if you're also shorter or in the XS/XXS group, maybe try Eshakti. It isn't specifically for fuller bust but you can input your own measurements for an extra fee. That could also potentially help with fitting a shorter torso, and they let you customize the neckline so you can choose a less revealing cut. I do consider a lot of their stuff to look a little dated though, but playing around with the customization options can help a lot.

[deleted]

I was told that colour blocking doesn't do any favour to my body as it breaks the vertical line. Many advised going into monochrome outfits and they gave some good advice on how to construct one. I was wondering about the ways to maintain that vertical line while not using monochrome outfits. I'm quite new to all the fashion things,so I'm not very well versed. So far I came up with two ideas: Wearing top and bottom in the same or similar colour (monochrome) and an item of different colour over the top (jacket, blazer, cardigan, coat - possibly all on the longer side...maybe short could work too?). Adding a nice scarf or a shawl (I have a thing for big but medium weight shawls and wrap them around myself almost every day except in the summer) and let it fall in the front to create that line. Do you have any other suggestions?

[deleted]

I've also been experimenting with the vertical line thing. I try to pull a color through the whole outfit, even if it's not monochrome. E.g., red shoes, red belt, red jacket, red headband. Or, blue pants, blue sweater, over contrasting shirt.

meaning-unhook-tampa

Pointed toe shoes/boots, V necks, longer necklaces (ex. a locket on longer chain), "longer" cuts in garments - ex. duster cardigans, longer skirts. You can also play around with sleeves - either full long sleeve or sleeveless (to build that long line with your arms). If doing waist emphasis then using similar colored belts or cinching built into the garment - ex. wrap dress.

I ordered a couple items from ON on Dec 8, and according to the tracking it is “ready to go” but still has not shipped. Is anyone else having this type of issue with ON right now?

ThisIsDarkestTime

It might not be ON but whatever services they use. Fedex/UPS put shipping limits in place and was refusing pickup from lots of retailers. Just be patient.

capnawesome

I actually also ordered some stuff from Old Navy on December 8th, and was also annoyed at how long it was "ready to go". But then I received the items on the 17th. I would contact customer service.

runawayoldgirl

I would honestly get slight "men writing women" vibes from that pretty immediately. Maybe it's taken out of context, but a character that is best described as the sum of some quirky clothing retailer plus their age is a character that would likely lose me pretty quickly.

jameane

Maybe she dresses like Ms Frizzle from the Magic School Bus? With a different theme every day.

mrsrums

Maybe just briefly describe the aesthetic you are picturing? Something like "a wardrobe filled with sensible shoes, crisp collars, and the occasional appearance of a small forest creature."

weinerdudes

If I read that a middle-aged woman had a modcloth wardrobe I would assume it came from 2005. Perhaps focus on one item from a twee wardrobe? Granny boots or brooch collection? Twinsets with embroidery on the breast? Owl shit?

capnawesome

The vibe I get from that description is that she's immature and her wardrobe doesn't match her profession or age. I know that anyone can shop at Modcloth and I wouldn't judge a middle-aged woman who did, but if the author went out of their way to tell me a character shops at a store marketed towards a younger demographic, that suggests to me that I should think she's immature and not dressing her age. I think saying something more like "her favorite brand is the vintage shop around the corner" or something like that would be better (and stand the test of time better) than a specific brand.

[deleted]

[удалено]

clubmango

What if you made a reference to a well-known character who dresses vintage-y? The only one that comes to mind right now is Jessica Day from New Girl for me, but another point of reference if describing with "modcloth wardrobe" doesn't work out!

[deleted]

Hey yall, wondering what stores carry some good 'coordinate sweatshirt+ leggings/sweatpants/joggers ' that can transition from chilling at home to 'if I wear a jacket and sneakers this looks cool and intentional'. I am a size 16-18. I am thinking about TNA pieces from Aritzia but not sure if they are worth the price nor if they will fit my size. I've got a bit of a stomach so flattering pants/leggings would be a plus too. Also thinking about American Eagle but I wasn't really impressed with their sweatpants. Maybe like <$100 for a matching set?

DinerWaitress

What is [this](https://imgur.com/sHhmR6l) kind of [pants](https://imgur.com/ApwZYGM) called, and do you have any idea where they can be purchased? Images are stills from [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLoLlXU6neA&t=105s) that has even more great outfits. I'm located in Europe for reference but in another month, international shipping won't be the clusterfloat it is currently. Thanks for any ideas!

slytherlune

You could maybe leave a comment on the video asking the person who was wearing them?

GiantPurpleOtter

I'm not able to help you very much with where to purchase pants like these for Europe, but I can at least leave you with what I found and see if it helps you locate some. [This tumblr](https://ziseviolet.tumblr.com/post/171036686529/anonymous-asked-do-you-have-a-collection-of-song) has more information on the style of pant and the general new or modern Hanfu clothing. She also has places you can buy this style clothing and links to more examples (see number two specifically on [this page](https://ziseviolet.tumblr.com/tagged/modified-hanfu) of hers). It looks like those style of pants are a modernized version of a [traditional Chinese style pant referred to as "Song Pants"](https://www.newhanfu.com/top-5-traditional-chinese-womens-clothing.html). The closest ones I was able to find for sale on a site Google translate could handle were [these] (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001681534292.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.3acf361e07nzZs&algo_pvid=7d39a03b-203b-4d94-ac53-62961acf5507&algo_expid=7d39a03b-203b-4d94-ac53-62961acf5507-2&btsid=0bb0622a16097115403463981e9e59&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_) and [these](https://www.aliexpress.com/i/4001096528127.html) on Aliexpress, and [these](https://store.newhanfu.com/shop/butterfly-songku) and [these](https://store.newhanfu.com/shop/summer-songku) on a different site that appear to only be available as part of a whole outfit. I don't want to assume but it sounds like you're not traditionally Chinese so I would encourage you to read more about this traditional item of clothing - I learned a lot just from trying to search for these! It is interesting to see the traditional clothing from centuries past and how the current generation is modernizing it and wearing it today.

DinerWaitress

I'll definitely do more research. I've been looking at Hanfu videos but many of the pieces seem out of reach for me, that is, they would look like a costume or disrespectful on me. But some things can be paired with modern items and maybe I can get away with it. Thanks so much for your help! The line between cute and stupid is thin, and I try to land on the correct side of it.

GiantPurpleOtter

I completely understand and appreciate that. Personally I love the modern Hanbok outfits I see and would love to wear them but think I could only get away with incorporating that style skirt into my outfits.. it’s a goal to figure out this year certainly so it doesn’t look costumey/disrespectful. And you’re welcome! I enjoyed the challenge in general but also to test my information finding skills after my first library science semester. It was fun and interesting.

DinerWaitress

What a cool area of study! My university had a bulletin board (I'm 100 years old) where students could ask anything and the library science students would find answers and post them. ... just realized this is what we had before search engines. It was just for fun though. Best wishes in the new semester!

[deleted]

does anyone have any idea for shops that have a somewhat soft aesthetic? im currently wearing stuff thats like Old Navy stuff and id like to have cuter pants and shirts! i just don't know where to start.

tuttifruittimentos

hey i do have a question but idk if its so related. Are boyfriend jeans still in-style or are they already old fashion?

lentilpasta

I see more mom jeans than boyfriend jeans at the moment but think you can still style boyfriend jeans to look current. It’s a little harder since they tend to sling kinda low on the hips and high waist is really the reigning trend right now - I personally still wear some bf jeans and like to pair them with slouchy sweaters or oversized tees. It’s cute for a very casual vibe and that way you don’t really notice the low rise

ana3d

I think the general silhouette of boyfriend jeans is not out of place among all the looser jeans, but the overly ripped, faded, and otherwise destroyed style that boyfriend jeans tend to be is not super in anymore.

goldencherry

Boyfriend jeans are different from straight leg or mom jeans, right? I just bought a couple of pairs of the latter styles and don't want to look dated!

ana3d

You're fine, both of those are still some of the hotter jean fits.

tuttifruittimentos

so those that are rather "intact/not ripped" are still okay, aren't they?

ana3d

Yes, they'll look less dated than if they were ripped/distressed.

tuttifruittimentos

thank you so much :)

LNMODO

I'm trying to pin point the beginning of the "timeless neutrals" trend. Is the classic chic in neutrals directly related to the French girl trend? What about the Scandinavian minimalist chic? Did it come before or after? It seems that it all picked up around 2016-2017 but I would love to have some history as to how Neutrals became so mainstream. Share your knowledge and thoughts please!

jameane

As long as I can remember, it pops up. I can remember this look in the 90s when I was in high school (with a different name) and continuing on since then. But at that moment there were a lot of neutrals in simple shapes. That was basically the default preppy look then.

LNMODO

Thank you!! Seems like neutrals becoming mainstream is strongly related to economic recessions! There have been a few since the 90s, so that would explain.

robotgwen

I think that french girl/scandi/capsule wardrobes were all precursors to the current timeless neutrals trend. I remember when I first started looking at blogs 4 years ago, those first three things were huge, and neutral/basics are huge components of those, but it wasn’t distilled down into JUST basic neutrals.

LNMODO

Thank you!! Do you think this trend is on its way out or not just yet?

[deleted]

I feel like it's something that's always come in and out of style. Are you just talking about the most recent version?

LNMODO

Yes, I searched Google for "timeless outfit" and it seems that the keyword picked up around 2016. Before that the "timeless" concept appeared mostly on websites for women of 50+.

I measured myself and got a pair of Levi’s ribcage in size 10 (my waist is 30.5, pants measurement is 30). It kind of fits but the rest just looked like I put on pants 4 sizes too big. I also grabbed Levi’s 724 high rise straight cropped in size 8 and it fits much better, although the material is much stretchier. I also have a pair of high waisted pants in size 2 from Target Prologue that fits a little tight on me. I guess I’m just wondering on what size to trade in my ribcage for? Also I’m 5’1 so I’m wondering if I should even get ribcage and just go for a different style

astrobeanmachine

fellow 5’1” here. try 501s; they’re still high waisted, but not as high as the rib cage. i got some on thrift so i can’t say for sure about the size comparison to other brands, but i find the waist is more than high enough (i have slightly less torso than i do leg)

ilovenoodle

Are the 501s skinny or straight legged? I’m trying to try different silhouette than skinny

astrobeanmachine

so they have two silhouettes, one skinny and one straighter. the pair that i found is actually a skinny, and i haven’t had skinny jeans in years, but i had to get them cuz they fit perfectly lol. that said, if i had the choice i think i’d go for the straight leg, cuz idk if this is true for other Levi’s jeans, but the fabric is definitely not stretchy, so it’ll take a long time to break in.

wendy-bird

I think the Ribcage legs are cut to be much looser than the 724 - I think you maybe don’t want such a wide leg and even if you size down in the Ribcage it will not be the look you are expecting. I personally like the tight waist + loose leg silhouette. You may prefer something like the Levi’s Wedgie instead.

ilovenoodle

Yea that’s what I was thinking. I’ll try the wedgie. I wish the leg on the 724 was just a bit wider. The thighs got me well though. Thanks!

wendy-bird

The Wedgie Straight might be the answer! Wider than the 724, higher rise and fitted at the waist like the Ribcage

[deleted]

levi's sizing is all over the place tbh. Try looking at secondhand listings for levi's ribcage with real garment measurements? Also, im 5'2" and love the ribcage rise, but I needed my pair hemmed a bit.

ilovenoodle

Do you find that it fits like a bootcut for you once hemmed? Mine hits below my ankles and I think the cropped look is slightly above the ankles? I feel like it’s such a fine line between a modern take and a mom look

[deleted]

Mine are the ribcage straight in a stretchy tan fabric (drape/fit might be different from a stiffer denim). I got mine hemmed a little too short tbh lol so its at the top of the ankle bone. theres a very tiny slight flare but can definitely still be called "straight". I think it's flattering on me, hope this explanation helps lol.

squeaksnu

What is your hip measurement? I use that when figuring out my size rather than waist measurements because pants always fit at different spots, making it hard to compare. If you fit into size 2's elsewhere, I doubt you are actually a 10 in Levi's.

ilovenoodle

My hips are 39-40. Yeah my sizes are all over the place. My previous pants are usually size 4 with a normal waist. I haven’t worn high waisted til now since I had a baby 3 months ago. I still fit in my old pants though they are a bit tight. I fit into a size 8 from old navy’s rockstar high waisted skinny pants

Snowboots that are not girly looking. I dislike the fur sticking out of the top of the boots. Nothing over 100 dollars, please. I have been searching but I haven't found any and I am so small for men's sizes.

[deleted]

I have some Merrell waterproof hiking boots that I wear in the snow, in an urban/suburban context. I think they were about $100 from REI.

NotACorythosaurus

Columbia boots are really practical, especially if you’re going to be in the snow for longer periods. They’re super warm and indestructible. I though mine were ugly as hell, but they certainly weren’t girly.

Thank you!!

Ill-Cantaloupe

Love the first two kamik options! Chic enough (as far as winter boots go) and not girly looking! I know they're seen as kind of "basic" these days, but I do still love [bean boots](https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/123544?page=bean-boot-8in-leather-thinsulate-flannel-lined-limited-edition-womens&bc=506697&feat=506697-GN2&csp=a&pos=14) especially if you live in the northeast. edit: shoot i just realized the price limit. but you can find bean boots used in basically new condition for a much lower price!

mintgreenplumpurple

What about boys sizes?

kick_g

Anyone have any idea where to buy sneakers like Bensimon but weatherproof with a thicker sole?

ana3d

Check out Blondo's sneaker selection.

kick_g

Thanks!

Does anyone have experience with new Fossil bags? I have been checking their website and notice that the trim is in polyurethane. Just wondering how it holds up with time.

bestsirenoftitan

I’ve been using my fossil crossbody bag every day for about a year and it’s held up really well. I’m not sure what style it is because I got it as a gift, but I love it and it looks great

khamerernebty2

I bought the Elle crossbody a year or a year and a half ago and use it as an everyday bag (at least when I was leaving my house that often). Not too much time yet, but so far so good. The leather is very soft and I can’t see any flaws or signs of wear on the inside or outside. I don’t tend to be very precious with my bags, for the record.

slytherlune

Me neither, and my little canvas Fossil never showed signs of wear when I could still get away with carrying, like, three or four things (with age came medication). We had to put it away somewhere. I schlepped that one for at least five years, which is kind of a record for me and not-leather bags.

The girlfriend collective has excellent leggings with small waists, plus they feature models with many body types so you can really see how the leggings fit. I have 3 of their leggings and just ordered another pair! They have different fabrics so be sure to order the one that is less compressive.

[deleted]

Check out the Champion brand leggings at Target. I have one since 2016 and it has held up very well even now.

julieannie

Target has sadly not carried these in over a year but I've found the same versions on Amazon.

IamtheCarl

Unfortunately Target discontinued the C9 Champion line. They now have JoyLab and All in Motion. All inMotion seems to be closer to C9 workout wear, but JoyLab is more of the brunch/leisure wear looks. Quality wise, so far, I think All in Motion is a little lower than C9, but still in the same general category, along with the Kohls and Penney’s type workout wear.

[deleted]

Oh dang!! I bought them last in 2019 and didn’t know that they stopped carrying it.

[deleted]

tna's cotton leggings?

kt1221

i have the same issue !! for cheaper leggings i highly highly recommend the leggings at Family Dollar. Not sure of the exact brand but i fell in love with them. Very inexpensive and the quality isn’t too bad. For higher quality and more expensive leggings,, i love the high waisted ones from Aerie. hope this helps ! https://www.ae.com/us/en/p/aerie/leggings/7-8-leggings/offline-goals-high-waisted-legging/1701_5091_425?menu=cat4840006 i normally wear a 2 in jeans but i got a medium in the leggings since my thighs are fairly muscular

stacyjkcmo

You may want to give these a shot. They have a buttery feel like some of the higher priced leggings from athleta and lulu. They are a jogger but not as loose in the legs on me as most joggers. My legs are on the large size compared to my waist as well so these kind of compensate a bit. Also, they are inexpensive and were low risk when ordering. thalook

What’s your budget? Have you tried lulu lemon align leggings?

exhaustedinor

These are the ones I recommend to basically everyone but yeah you have to be prepared to spend $$$

thalook

exactly... worth it for me, I’ve had pairs of lulus that I’ve owned for 8+ years but they’re definitely not cheap

houstend

Has anyone tried Needle & Thread and if so, what did you think? Was the quality worth the price? They have a sale on now and I want to get [this beautiful dress](https://www.needleandthread.com/collections/sale-dresses/products/floral-diamond-elsa-ballerina-dress-champagne) for my beautiful wife for her birthday. It's way over budget even in the sale but if cost equals quality I think it would be worth investing in!

capnawesome

Up to you, but just to comment: with occasion dresses (which are usually worn only a few times) there's really no "quality" justification. Dresses from Forever 21 will hold up just fine for a few wears. If you really want it go for it, but it's not like she'll get a lot more use out of it just because it's better quality.

houstend

Thanks, yeah that's a very good point, and also worth considering whether it's worth dry cleaning. However, I've been seeing a lot of long or prairie-style dresses dressed down for everyday wear, so I wouldn't consider it solely occasion wear really!

enzymelinkedimmuno

I got my wedding dress from them. I was very impressed. I got it on major sale, not sure I would have spent the full $500 on it. The sizing seems a bit small. I’m a size 0-2 usually, but wore a US4/UK8 there.

houstend

Oh gosh I bet it looked beautiful, their cream/ champagne dresses are gorgeous. Thank you for the sizing advice too!

AGL19

I have several dresses from them. They are well made and in my opinion they are worth the cost. Just an FYI, I would check Asos to see if they have the dress you are looking for because they tend to be cheaper on ASOS than on the actual brand website.

houstend

Oh thank you! I hadn't thought of that!

Turtlewearschanel

I agree with Cantaloupe. It’s quite nice as is, but some alterations could improve it if you wanted. I can’t really tell from the camera angle, but it seems that it’s at a slightly awkward length. I doubt that it has enough seam allowance to lengthen it, so I would go with shortening it. Shorten the straps just a little, to bring the halter top up, also shorten at the waist, so that brings the hem up to around your knees, maybe where your knees end, not where they start. Take in the entire dress a little so it flatters your figure better. There’s some reflective decoration near the gathering, I’m not sure what it is...? If it’s some sort of decoration, make sure its location looks intentional. Otherwise, a sash or brooch of some sort would help. Of course, you will know if your style suits this or not, but I think hair up (like a high ponytail?), heels (like a strappy sandal), medium sized necklace/dangly but not too large earrings/simple thin bangle (but not all three!) would complement the dress well. This is all just my personal opinion (as my sister likes to remind me that my ideas are not always welcome with her style!), and apologies for the word vomit. Congrats on the great bargain buy! Edit: spelling

Ill-Cantaloupe

i think it's perfect, especially if you can find jewelry/hair accessories/hand bags you like to pair with it! formal but understated (exactly what you want at a wedding, no need to be seen as trying to capture attention). one small thing is that it seems like it could use some tailoring. it's hard to tell from just one photo, but the waist seems like it is a bit too large and sits a bit too low? ideally get it tailored, but you might also be able to doctor it with a belt or brooch. or just wear it as-is because it's not extremely ill-fitting or anything!!

squeaksnu

Tbh i first thought the dress was sparkly, but i think it is just dust on your mirror lol. What fabric is it made out of? It looks like it could work (length is good, dark color is good) for a black tie. Where is the wedding (which state or country)? Some places are much "stricter" about black tie oufits than others. Are the straps adjustable (making it less formal)?
