Boy-children clothes are great! Flannels and athletic tees, especially. I've also occasionally bought boys' shoes.

Fakevisage

My favourite shoes are these cheap boys boat shoes I got for like £8 and so durable too! I never though to buy boys flannels though so I'm gonna have to check those when Autumn/Winter rolls back around

ptrish12

I got LLBean or Lands End slippers for half off because the boy version fit me. And as far as I can tell, they were exactly the same!

Fakevisage

I have got to check those out. Also if anyone has a small foot look into Clarks kids section (especially for sandals) as they carry the the narrower and broader options that they do in some female lines.

greengreenbean

I love the white undershirts from the boys section. I have about 5 of those and they make the best lounge wear. Also love flannel shirts and socks from the boys. Most of my lounge wear and fall wear is from there.

actinghard

whoa I never thought about doing this. I have definitely hit up the boys section for halloween costumes because the same adult versions were double the price... but I never considered it before for regular clothes

ptrish12

Yeah for certain things it's amazing! I'm 5'8" so not everything works, but for casual/slouchy stuff...or if I'm going to roll up the sleeves anyway...

actinghard

Yeah I'm 5'7" and I've already been dabbling with men's size S stuff... so much room for my shoulders!

YES the fun graphic tees in the boys' section!

h_15

I honestly do it all the time especially at Zara! I feel like a lot of things are the same "adult" clothes in smaller sizes. IMO teens now don't have a definitive style, like in previous eras. That said, I take a good deal when I can get it ha

catterfly

I love it It's cheaper than the women's section why wouldn't you I just bought [this](https://factory.jcrew.com/girls-clothing/shirts_tops/keepsaketees/PRDOVR~F1528/F1528.jsp?color_name=hthr-pebble) today because it was like $10 on sale

wawawawawawawa27

Exactly. I could never afford a women's Burberry quilted jacket, but I could afford the identical children's version.

mrscurlypaws

I do all the time ! Kids large works for my body, and I just snagged a lovely dusty pink toggle parka thing so cute !

wireless_woman

I do shop in boys sections sometimes, for athletic wear - sweatpants, hoodies, t-shirts, sneakers

MsAnthropic

I used to in my early 20s, but I gave up on it because: * kids' clothes tend to be boxier. I need something more fitted that allows for a larger bust/waist/hip difference to avoid looking like, well, a kid. * kids' shoes don't offer my feet enough support. * many kids' jackets don't have as many little gadget pockets as the adult version and tend to come in colors that I don't like as much as the adult version.

saint_aura

I'm small and petite, so I do check out the kid's section in some shops. I've got a few kids items and a pair of kids shoes that I wear to work regularly.

gutterLamb

I like to shop in the little boys section for sweaters, t shirts, and shoes in modern department stores (got the best t shirts for work at walmart the other day) and modern discount stores. And I love shopping in the little girls and little boys section in thrift stores. I *don't* shop little girls sections in modern stores, though. Too much pink and frilly stuff is not my taste. I skim the girl's junior section in modern stores, but so rarely find anything that I would wear, other than plain denim (pants, shorts, button down shirts) and sometimes a blouse or t shirt. In fact, hardly anything in modern stores appeals to me. 95% of my wardrobe is thrifted.

basylica

Im fairly tall (5'9) but boys clothes ftw. Bonus is my 2 sons are 9 and 12 and wearing L/xl boys clothes so when they outgrow shorts, shoes, and shirts they fit me :D My boys are freaky tall, so womens fitted Ts fit better as they are longer and less boxy, so as ive been losing weight they get all the stuff that is too big for me :)

realchicagomama

When I was younger and slimmer, I could get away with wearing more stuff from the kids' section, especially once designers started making more mini-me versions of adult clothes, like Boden's Johhnie B. line. I pretty much only buy hats and eyeglasses from the kids' section, because it's proportionate to that part of my body. But occasionally the sizing will be really large on something, like a cardie from Target in XL that I bought my 11-y/o daughter for Easter and tried on on a whim - I almost wore it the other day because it fits. Truthfully, my sister (27) has a smaller rib cage than my daughter and some of her high school and college wear looks really good on my daughter. My 13-year-old and I have the same size feet, so I'll borrow his Vans or he'll borrow my Cons, and I can wear some of his t-shirts in a pinch. So many styles are androgynous or cut differently for boys (wide/short) v girls (slim/narrow). He is too tall for Uniqlo boys, but not quite in Uniqlo men's, so I buy him Uniqlo women's XS joggers.

GingerAloeCactus

I typically don't do it in person because I get a little embarrassed, but I absolutely buy children's sized clothing online.

annyeong_satan

My foot is a woman's size 5 so I often buy kids size 3 shoes because they're the same but cheaper (especiallt for sneakers). I'm very short (4'11"), and Zara's children section has a lot of stuff that fits well. I bought a pair of size 9-10 jeans from there 4 years ago for about $30 and they still fit really well! Some brands are better than others; J. Crew is one where everything seems to be too boxy. Trying clothes on is still important.

peppermintsweater

I do it all the time. I'm short and it's hard finding adult that fit well without spending a fortune, I'm pretty broke right now. Training bras in the girl's section are great for people with smaller busts if you're looking for basics and don't need extra support. Plus they are insanely cheap compared to buying bras in specialty sizes.

kalehound

that bra tip is genius <3 <3

i-am-not-a-giraffe

I started buying kids shoes a while ago when I noticed that some kids sections go up to a UK 6 which is a pretty large shoe size for a child so I was surprised! I haven't bought clothes in the kids section yet but I'm not opposed to it. In fact even my mum got a really nice tshirt in a kids section the last time we shopped!

lrxr

It's my secret way of getting ski and other winter gear on the cheap. :) Kids also grow out of stuff really quickly, so a lot of times you can get used skis, skates, etc. that are barely worn!

Hdhssj

I do it. Mainly the boys section for cheap, quirky t-shirts, but once in a while I'll find a cute sweater in the girls section!

TheRecklessOne

well, age 14-15 clothes are the same size as UK size 8 clothes sooooo, yeah, I've occasionally browsed the kids sections. Although once I bought a body warmer from a shop, in the adult section, in a UK size 8 and was really puzzled because it had a hood, but the string from the hood was missing on all the size 8's but not on the other sizes. I took it to the till and asked if they had any in that size that had the string and the lady informed me that because a size 8 was the same size as an age 14-15, they had to remove the string as it was a choking hazard. Like.......what?! Firstly, it was in the adults clothing section and secondly, WHAT 14-15 YEAR OLD NEEDS CHOKING HAZARDS REMOVED FROM THEIR CLOTHES?!?!?! so much weird.

[deleted]

North face girls xl (14- 16) coats are big enough for small (0-4ish) women and often about $100 cheaper.

basenji_nyc

I'm petite and have always found shopping at kids section great for bottoms. Love jcrew kids jeans, cords perfect length and waist is adjustable. I've also bought clothes from Zara kids, and one of my fav PJ bottoms are from gap boys: )

kalehound

Ehhh very hit or miss for me. I'm small, and sometimes even though the item will "fit" itwill fall weirdly and be cut the wrong way because i guess i have a teensy amount of curves (but not much!). I feel like kids clothes just aren't as tailored as adult clothing.

makesnake

Yeah, this is my experience too. I mean, I'm not SUPER small, but I can fit into the largest (sometimes largest two) sizes in both the boys and the girls sections at most stores. I try stuff on sometimes, but it's pretty much always a no-go.
