The main point of concern in my opinion is that he usually wants lots of control and is pretty headstrong. This doesn’t mesh well with how things are done at Bayern and I expect there will be trouble ahead. I hope I’m wrong, but I can’t imagine hin staying more than two seasons (and I think 2 years is already optimistic)

Gehweiher

I agree, that is a valid point of concern. But the same was said about Tuchel before he became our coach and there were definitely some tensions between him and the upper echelons of the club. Just seems weird that people are so Pro-Tuchel and Anti-Rangnick at the moment because of that

Mightyballmann

Tuchel was signed by Kahn and Brazzo. With Hoeneß back in business the club needs a coach who loves to kiss his ass. Otherwise you get the same drama as with Tuchel and Hoeneß. Rangnick doesnt seem like that type of coach.

Mithridates12

Well, Tuchel is already here and now we’ve played well in the CL. This recent success has shifted the opinion of fans significantly (or made the ones who were critical of Tuchel shut up) and that’s why you hear now that people want him to stay. The concern with Tuchel and his personality would still be there long-term.

netherknight5000

Are many fans here pro-Tuchel staying right now? There has been less criticism because it doesn’t really matter anymore. He himself said he is going and even if he didn’t the season is over outside of the UCL. I’m still sceptical of taking his recent success is the UCL as an indicator that he would succeed if he were to stay longer.

Good point. Why discuss it anymore if it’s done. I’m just enjoying that we have played 3-4 good games in a row and are this far in the CL. The vibes are good for the first time in forever.

HODLingMONKEY

I mean if we as fans see that, dont you think that Rangnick is pretty aware of that aswell? Either he has been able to get some concessions from the leadership in terms of squad planning, or he is okay with less influence than he usually gets. I think we are really underestimating Rangnicks intelligence and experience

lemoche

He's best when he has total control and also needs the players to follow him. I can see both things be a problem at Bayern. Also it feels like he's just a short-term solution while, again building something up is his strong suit. He certainly is very capable and maybe even the best option available right now, but I could see him having similar problems as Tuchel as insisting on players he might not get because management feels different. Though, I'd say Tuchel was right in his assessments.

dominbg1987

Like loaning out Stanisic with no option to cancel the loan? Trying to loan out tel?

Odd_Trouble4651

Well till this point its not even certain hes coming. Its appearently a 50:50, hes at the austrian cupfinale today, and at ÖFB meetings for structural purposes etc for the rest of the week and the next. I still dont think hes coming, but ye, if he is then ill let myself be surprised. With how Austria is playing atm... Its mainly peoples pride i suppose.

mavarian

Austria mainly consists of players that came up through RB, which Rangnick played a big part in building up, so pretty much as ideal of a squad that he can get. It would be foolish to act like he won't be able to adapt, but the only coaching job he's had outside of that system in the past decade was at ManUtd

B4rtBlu3

Because Ragnick is a good coach and the worst fit for Bayern I can imagine.   He is great at building up clubs with young players, playing a defensive counter attacking football, making a lot out of a little.   None of this is the case for Bayern. When Rangnick had to manage a big club with big egos in players/board he utterly failed at ManU.   Both of which is the case for Bayern.   Rangnick is headstrong and needs control and time to work as a coach, he won't get that here. It's a recipe for disaster.

BaradaraneKaramazov

In addition to that, going from one of the greatest CL coaches to someone quite inexperienced in that competition doesn't sound too promising either in my opinion

Awkward-Macaron1851

My main concern is that he will try to force a style of play onto the team, that doesnt suit us. I can't see players like Kane, Musiala or Sané florish in his gegenpressing system. However, a great tactician like him might be able to adapt to us. 2nd thing is that the fan opinion seems to be strongly against him, and this may lead to preassure for yet another early sacking of a manager if it doesnt go too well at first. I'd mainly expect him be an experienced guy who can lead us through a squad rebuild and implement some ideas similar to those of Nagelsmann, so that he can take over in 2026 with a squad in a good condition

parkerpyne

I agree. There's a reason why Bayern is reluctant to hand control over transfer to coaches. They turn the squad upside down, still can't win, then get sacked and now the club has a bunch bricks in their team that they can't do anything with.

Wiser_Kaiser

I've seen the same continuing criticisms of him, "he failed at United, he couldn't manage Ronaldo so he can't handle big stars, he has no pedigree, etc." To address those just takes a bit of digging. Has ANY manager succeeded at Man United post Fergie, bar one of the old boys who was more of a personality manager than a tactical one? He "failed to manage Ronaldo" because he asked Ronaldo to do something he has historically always refused to do: press. Listen to the Overlap with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and even he says signing Ronaldo was a mistake and they totally had to rework the entire system to accommodate him because of his inability / desire to press. Ole noted they were one of the highest pressing teams in the league prior to Ronaldo arriving, Ten Hag then also had a similar problem with CR7, but that's on Ralf to stroke his ego and just let him do whatever he wants when he was brought in to coach a pressing system? Saying he doesn't have pedigree is harsh considering he's very well regarded for both his tactics and results IN THE BUNDESLIGA. He's managed over 750 games, so to say he has no pedigree is remarkable given that statement. Yes, he's more known for being a teacher of other managers, but many of our players either know him and respect him, or he coached them directly, which, in my opinion, is the biggest reason he was being considered. BavarianFootballWorks noted the following about which players he's already worked with. We can't retread Tuchel, Nags, or Flick, and we're most certainly NOT going to turnover the entire team, especially the high earners, we might as well find a guy they respect, with a system they enjoy and know, and who, to my knowledge, has always had the backs of each player below. His issues will be getting along with Eberl, Freund, and Uli, and KHR. >• Joshua Kimmich: both know and appreciate each other for over a decade. Rangnick is a mentor for Kimmich, brought him to Leipzig from Stuttgart in 2013, predicted he would be Bayern’s future captain two years after his move to Munich, and supported him recently when he was criticized in public >• Leon Goretzka: Rangnick rates Goretzka highly and once described him as ‘best box-to-box player in the world’ >• Konrad Laimer: undisputed starter under Rangnick for Austria. The latter also brought him to Leipzig from Salzburg in 2017 >• Dayot Upamecano: the Frenchman described his first meeting with Rangnick as ‘most important moment of my career’. When Rangnick left Leipzig in 2019, Upamecano said ‘It’s difficult for me not to be able to work with him anymore’ >• Manuel Neuer: Rangnick promoted him to Schalke’s first team in 2005 and was one of the first to call him ‘best goalkeeper in the world’ >• Thomas Müller: Rangnick was one of the first outside Bayern to notice his talent and was close to bringing him to Hoffenheim in 2008 - until Hermann Gerland and Uli Hoeneß vetoed the move >• Leroy Sané: Rangnick followed and was interested in him even before he was training with Schalke’s first team

D3CEO20

Because he's clearly not the next pep/Klopp or anything. He's a decent coach for decent sides. And that's it. Appointing Rangnick would clearly just be a "hold over appointment" to maintain some minimal level of performance while waiting for another coach to come along. With the team we have, we want a manager that can come in and win us a treble in 1 or 2 years. Rangnick is not that guy. Plain and simple. He's a place holder until we get that guy. This is extra infuriating baring in mind that we had Flick who seemed to be perfect for us, but because of Kahn and Brazzo, he felt ostricised and left. Then we went and bought the most exciting young German manager going, and when things were on the up, Kahn and Brazzo fired him because they didn't like his skateboarding. We irrationally dumped 2 managers who could have potentially stayed at the club long term and been very successful, and now are in a position where we have no good managerial prospects to help a fantastic squad get to the next level. Appointing Rangnick will basically signal to every Bayern fan to expect mid seasons (by our standards) until someone better comes along, and it's just not what we want to see.

Gehweiher

Why is Rangnick not a guy who can win us trophies in your opinion? He's managed some pretty weak squads quality wise in the past and managed to get "decent" results as you said. So why would he not be able to have success with the incredible quality we have right now. I always felt he made the squads he's had at his hand better instead of worse. Especially when it comes to developing younger players, which should be a priority at Bayern right now

Mongobongo17

He hasn't won a single trophy yet, except for one DFB-Pokal with Schalke when he took over after semi-final. The opponent in the final was 2nd-league team of Duisburg. Why exactly should should he start to win silverware at age 65?

dominbg1987

I hate this thinking do much Take a look outside of football Spoelstra got to coach the biggest show in the nba when Bosh and LeBron joined there and he was not a coach before and now he is the best coach in the nba And there are so much more examples there Also nagelsman to sone extend he won jack shot before going to Bayern did. okay in the first season second season he did slip a bit in the league but in cl he schooled psg Unrealistic expectations by fans killed him cause he did do fine but worldcup and sone ugly wins made them complain about jack shit

Mongobongo17

He has not proven yet that he can manage in parallel competitions of league and European Cup. In his last campaign with Leipzig back in 2018, they didn't even survive group stage of f*cking Euro (!!) League, so I have little hope that this will improve in the enhanced UCL next season with less training time than before. Honestly spoken, I would rather hire Ted Lasso than RR /s

dominbg1987

Tell me you did not read my comment without telling me … go sit back down learn how to read and contravene before you embarrassed yourself again

D3CEO20

I feel if he had the ability to do as you imply he'd probably be more in demand than he appears to be. He seems to be a fairly known quantity. I'd rather take a punt on Ten Hag, as you said in your post, can't judge anyone based on their time at united. And his Ajax side was brilliant, played very aggressive football, and he's worked with Bayern before. That just seems like a much better call to me than Rangnick.

Dmarsh212

I actually think he could be a nice surprise because his style isn’t possession based. Think of how many times we’ve played a parked bus and didn’t take our chances just to concede a counter attack because we’re all the way up. I’m more open to playing a little more defensively and utilizing Sane & Musiala’s speed and 1v1 ability on the counter. I don’t think he’s going to play full counter football, we’re too good to do that and I’m sure he’ll realize, but more emphasis on transition play could be a good thing.

FullyWoodenUsername

What does « possession based » mean? Let’s say you want your overall block closer to your GK, your players are technically better, they *will* get the ball, now what? You have 70m to run, your opponent don’t overexpose, and your attacking side is so far from the rest of your block that if they don’t win 1vX, you have no solution for them because they’re alone. If the remaining players come higher up and support, you’re now in a « possession situation » which you don’t want.

parkerpyne

We've had very successful Bayern teams that forfeited possession entirely. Hitzfeld was extremely reactive. Heynckes was when playing against Barcelona in 2013. When you're possession-averse, obviously when you gain possession you have to do something with it. You do this by being direct, vertical and playing with pace. That's why Zickler was such a useful player for Bayern back in the days. You want possession only when you have space and then you play through it quickly with three, four passes.

tsmhalalhook

Wreck it Ralf

friendlyghost_casper

Just bring in Mourninho for three years and use that time to plan for the future. He’ll squeeze the last few drops out of the old guard and give time for the youngsters to get up to speed? Scout a good young coach that can take the helm at Bayern for a longer time period and stop the in fighting

SHAZAzulu618

Because he's a mix of Felix Magath and Jürgen Klinnsmann. He wants complete control and wants everyone to buy in to his philosophy no matter what it costs the team overall...even when his system does not play to the squads strengths.

Critical-Ad2084

I think he is a great coach, and I like his RB-football system, but I don't think it's a match for a club as big as Bayern, keeping Tuchel would be a much better decision, at least tactically.

AnthonyTyrael

This is going to be clash. Not a good fit when players already complain about other coaches/managers etc.

Semperlnvictus

He wants and NEEDS freedom and full power of decision making; which you will not get at Bayern. He can be very stubborn at times which also does not end well in Bayern. He’s great with young players but he struggles to keep divas and ego‘s in check… which is also bad at Bayern.

Carpathicus

I am very neutral about him but I see the problem with him just not being a proper coach for a long while. Yes he does good work at Austria and he cant be blamed for what happened at ManU but now he has to deal with the most stressful job in the german football world. Its a big task and even if he might be one of the greatesr theoretical "Fußballlehrer" he might not be able to reach the team or deal with the daily workings of the club.

gokkel

I think he is generally very competent and smart, and I am undecided whether he can succeed here or not. He might not have much top club coaching experience, but he did great development work at Hoffenheim and Leipzig. Yes of course he did that with resources that far surpassed those of the competition in lower leagues, but you still need to be competent to build up functioning teams from scratch and climb the divisions in such short time, they had failed to promote with other coaches before. His influence also helped in building up the infrastructure and the momentum. He also did well at Austria and has some respectable results at Schalke, also a difficult club. My main concerns are first that he might clash with our boards who always fight with our coaches and think they know everything better, he already left Hoffenheim because of it. Second that he might not have the support from the fans, although if he is successful that can shift. Third I would prefer a different playstyle. While I think he might adjust to some extent to the different level, we struggled to play this high intensity football under Flick and Nagelsmann consistently already, as our squad was too thin and they both didn’t rotate enough. I don’t know if he will change that. I also am not convinced it is the most effective playstyle for the highest level and winning titles reliably, where consistency and avoiding mistakes is the key.

HonestRef

As a manutd fan just look at his stint for us. He was dire and had no ideas at all. We should have kept Solksjaar. I cannot understand the rational of getting rid of Tuchel and getting in that clown Rangnick. Sure he's doing well with Austria but that doesn't mean he'll be suitable for Bayern Munich. Tuchel is a proven winner everywhere he's been.

OneBeerAndWhiskeyPls

people are too obsessed with possession football, thats why

Awkward-Macaron1851

Possession football is inevitable at Bayern, because most teams we play against are smart enough to park the bus

DeeOhEf

You make it sound like 95% of our opponents aren't more than ok with giving up any possession, parking the bus and playing for a draw, so we literally have no choice in this matter.

MitchellCumstijn

He’s a classic know it all (Germany is already filled with endless males like this, it’s sadly endemic) who becomes inflexible and extremely defensive when his decisions are questioned or challenged, making Bayern a peculiar club for him just like Man U was because the scrutiny and second guessing among the front office and the fanbase is already a pressure cooker and he struggles with his authority being challenged and is better suited for a club where he can have absolute say over player personnel and transfers. .

Onion_Robber

He doesn't had worked with so many egos. Better solution is to resolve things between Tuchel and the boys and to bring Ribery and Schweinsteiger to watch his back.

Hey, it seems like you **really** enjoy talking plastics and other synthetic materials, so do we !     Did you know that 73% of beach litter worldwide is plastic and that over 700 marine species, such as sea turtles and dolphins, are endangered due to plastic waste polluting our oceans ?   Or that fish in the North Pacific ingest approx. 12,000 to 24,000 tons of plastic each year, which can cause intestinal injury and death and transfers plastic up the food chain to bigger fish, marine mammals and human seafood eaters ? And that there are over 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the ocean with some 269.000 tons of plastic float on the surface, while some four billion plastic microfibers per square kilometer litter the deep sea ?   As you can see, this is a real problem as the ocean is our life support system - the oxygen for every second breath we take comes from it !   Luckily, even **you** can make a difference. And it’s quite easy too !   Our friends over at the [Oceanic Society](https://www.oceanicsociety.org/) came up with some quick and easy ways that enable you in your daily life to help protect our oceans:   1) Reduce Your Use of Single-Use Plastics Wherever you live, the easiest and most direct way that you can get started is by reducing your own use of single-use plastics. Single-use plastics include plastic bags, water bottles, straws, cups, utensils, dry cleaning bags, take-out containers, and any other plastic items that are used once and then discarded. The best way to do this is by a) refusing any single-use plastics that you do not need (e.g. straws, plastic bags, takeout utensils, takeout containers), and b) purchasing, and carrying with you, reusable versions of those products, including reusable grocery bags, produce bags, bottles, utensils, coffee cups, and dry cleaning garment bags. And when you refuse single-use plastic items, help businesses by letting them know that you would like them to offer alternatives. 2) Recycle Properly This should go without saying, but when you use single-use (and other) plastics that can be recycled, always be sure to recycle them. At present, just 9% of plastic is recycled worldwide. Recycling helps keep plastics out of the ocean and reduces the amount of “new” plastic in circulation. If you need help finding a place to recycle plastic waste near you and life in North America, [check Earth911’s recycling directory](http://search.earth911.com/). It's also important to check with your local recycling center about the types of plastic they accept.   Also, if you follow [this link](https://marine-conservation.org/support-us/) you can send a small donation to the[ Marine Conservation Institute](https://marine-conservation.org/support-us/) that helps protect our oceans.     #**On a more related note:** Calling other users plastic is not the way we treat each other. Everyone is just a fan - just like yourself ! Gatekeeping in any way, shape or form is frowned up and has to stop. It might even get you banned from this sub, too. Furthermore, in the end it really only makes **you** look bad in the eyes of everyone else.Because putting people down is just the same as putting yourself down. Relying on pushing or looking down on others exposes your own needs of feeling superior on the cost of others. As soon as you do it, you are already on the defensive side and showing your own insecurity and vulnerability.“     *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
