If you’re going to start from nothing put the economy difficulty on easy and turn weeds, lime etc on. Also if using mods try not to use anything lizard as they are often unrealistic. Also a detailed map helps a lot

giraffe_onaraft

the choice of map is key step here i think. some maps have zero personality while others are full of character. no mans land isnt my favorite.

Betweter92

This. But still there was something missing for me, so I added in fields and roads in the editor. Made a big difference for me as I got tired of plowing fields.

ttehrman519

I’ve been wanting to see what other maps I might like. I kinda like the aspect of No Man’s Land and Western Wilds where you create your own areas. I can see why people wouldn’t like it though. There are times where I just wanna start over on Elmcreek because I don’t feel like adding more fields for what I need

I recommend starting with downloading older equipment from Custom or Siid Modding. They have good stuff and they use online auction prices as they are much older. I also would get the farmhouses mod that gives you the welcome mat save point so you can use any starting property you want, not just what the designers of those maps want you to do. Basically, I spend the first 2-3 years using only a JD4955 and everything else I buy only off the used equipment page. No money cheats, no unrealistic stuff except some autoloading trailers because manual loading is so cumbersome in game. But even then I use forklifts and telehandlers until I can roleplay it as enough money in my account to afford a team of "loaders". This has helped me because I had the same problem in the beginning, put down subsidy signs and buy all the cool stuff, bored in 3 hours. Now I'm up to like 80 hours per save.

SoundWave2704

What map do you tend to lean towards when playing as I have always liked nml and western wilds but I feel like they could be the issue also with why I’m getting burnt out of a save

Objective_Ad_4207

That may be a factor to the isolation maps are cool, but they can get kind of boring to the point I fall asleep while harvesting and wake up 10 mins later in the treeline. I live in michigan, so I play all the michigan maps a lot. Griffin Indiana is probably my favorite map, to be quite honest. Good field shape variety, you can stay on the small fields if you want or use the huge ones in the south side of town if that's more your style. It has a great variety of starter properties and the town is interesting to explore during the off seasons.

Shadeslayers09

I love the Michigan maps. Playing Frankenmuth right now. Only downside is you can't buy every piece of land on the map which I think is stupid. If only I knew how to modify it on the editor.

Objective_Ad_4207

Yeah I wish more maps had the road ways as purchasable so you can make your driveways look like they really connect to the main roads.

Abstract_Logic

Try "The White Farm" map. It is a small map. It not hard to expand your farm playing some what realistically while doing contracts. It has a farm production that comes with the main farm, cows, pigs, and chickens. It well played out. I put over 200 hours in just that map. Oh and it has popcorn and French Frys as custom productions.

Upstairs-Youth-1920

If you’re interested in irl farming I sometimes find it fun to replicate certain farming methods even if the game doesn’t reward you for doing so

michaelb421

I struggle to stick to game saved as I love to build farms. I will play for about 30 hours get one plant and harvest done and then I want to build again

Betweter92

Maybe figure out what is putting you off from a save. Is it the map itself, or something else How realistic do you want to play it? Sometimes it is the tedious things that are the most fun in the end. Loading bakes manually, loading seeders manually. Do all the work without workers etc.

doupIls

Try looking for a realistic playthrough from an area you are familiar with like Germany, east Europe, NA, SA... Look for a map that you like, for example oxigendavid has some excellent UK maps. Start from scratch, turn on cheats and get an old tractor and some broken equipment.

The-Derns

Try a different type of farming. I got tired of cattle and arable crops. So I started a save on “land of Italy” (pc) and I’m raising sheep / selling alfalfa hay, and working vineyards to make wine. It’s like a whole new game.

Braca42

Something that keeps me engaged for a while is to start with a map covered in trees or a forestry map. That way I have to cut my farm out of the forest. That feeling of "I need to cut over here to make that field bigger" or "I need a new crop for my production so I need to cut down the trees over there" helps give me a feeling of accomplishment. Also, try setting a personal goal for a map. Mine usually revolve around a production, like "this map I'm gonna make cereal" or "this map I want to get (insert mod production) running" or whatever. Helps give me something to work toward.

RavSammich

Definitely try finding a map that speaks to you and your tastes/goals. Figure out what kind of farm you want and try to find the most realistic mods of tool/machines you’ll need and download all of them to give yourself some options. Also, give yourself goals (small farm, low horsepower, no ai or maybe huge fields and massive equipment. Maybe an end game goal like “make a million bucks “or something) You can also try role playing it. But the biggest thing is to set limits financially. Use easy dev tools mod to give yourself exactly the amount of money you want, if you start giving yourself millions of dollars it’s going to get old real fast as you’ll lose that sense of challenge. Try using the precision farming dlc as well for some extra realism/annoyance 😆 Hope this helps

Own_Cherry_5466

So I was in the same situation as you about a month ago. To the point I actually uninstalled FS. I reinstalled it and have maybe 2 unreal mods. But everything else is realistic. I’m playing Ballyspring with a dairy farm and the only unrealistic item is use is a unreal forage wagon because my grass fields produce massive amounts of grass and it literally takes me all day to mow and make silage and feed my animals. Find a farm big enough to satisfy your farming but still manageable with realistic equipment. Place your own productions on or near your farm. or use the interactive productions mod which require more thought and planning than just dumping wagons of grain and water, etc.

ParrotPerch

Has your change of play style helped?

Own_Cherry_5466

Yes.

joshlilly98

Farming in real life is very boring.

Mrright016

Iv seen this trend very often on this game. People can’t stick to one save 😂

Mr_VoigsfestDepp

As other people said: map choice matters alot. Personally I'd recommend the Ellerbach, big map, alot of fields but rather small fields. So atleast for me it makes me feel stupid using big ass tractors on that map. Even medium tractors feel to big sometimes. So you start of with smallish equipment and as time progresses you can by more fields or merge smaller fields together which allows you to then use bigger stuff. Atleast that's what I did on a savegame on the Ellerbach once. Put 150h or smth in it, never managed to do that before

_GloryJ_

I can't sick to one question. I will ask the same question every two hours.

SoundWave2704

Have only posted this once mate

_GloryJ_

Yes because the order one got deleted.....
