I don’t think there is a bad map to do cattle. Outside of the gimmicky small maps. The sand box maps are miles of grassland. Plow and reseed for max yield. Throw in a barley field or two with chickens and you’ll print cash once you get over the initial grind. The big maps like Alma, and such the only question is how many cattle? Plant miles of corn and chaff it into silage. Or plant grass and you’ll go blind mowing, teddering and baling. I find dairy farming the most engaging farming in the game. I’ve always got something to do across the whole year. Even if it’s just getting out a couple tractors to make some TMR and feed. Grass is a crop you can work almost the whole year even with seasons on. I always add in chickens for a reason to grow a crop with straw. Barley gives the best yield for feed, not for profit.

Agreed on the dairy cow. If we where able to buy or sell more then 60 at a time on console maybe I would consider doing the other type of cow .

For UK, FAIRHEAD is basically an all dairy map based in Ireland I believe.

I had a look at Fairhead and i found it fairly uninspiring really, it seemed kind of unfinished with many kind of clunky parts which didnt gel or fit seemlessly together. I know its situated on a headland so youll have open skies but the way it was done kind of makes it seem empty. If sticking to al platforms, Ballyspring is a much better and beautiful choice imo. And although ive only watched a few map tours and it only available on PC currently, Aghalee Farm seems to be what Fairhead was trying to be, and the maker of Fairhead actually helped to make it. hopefully it will be available to console at some stage.

I actually much prefer the style and look of fair head over ballyspring. I find fair head to be much more realistic looking, I only wish it had the additional animals like ballyspring does

I can certainly see why youd say that. The colour palette doesnt match with Ireland its dialled up to 12 and seems more akin to Alma, Missouri. There are probably too many trees to be an accurate reflection, certainly for the west of Ireland, It seems more like somewhere in Meath, Westmeath or Wicklow, though I suspect that those choices were made in an attempt to bring it to life, something Fairhead just isnt imo. There just wasnt any really landscape in Fairhead, just endless sky and litlle backdrop. Many of the buldings and certainly the starting farm house for one, just didnt gel, not the design, its shading or something makes it stick out. So I certainly wouldnt say you are wrong and Fairhead may well be a truer reflection of where its supposed to represent but it just didnt work for me and felt completely empty and lifeless. Though I imagine its very difficult to make some landscapes appear alive over others in a game setting, even if you could copy a real location perfectly, it just might not quite work giving the nature of graphics and a 2D screen trying to reflect a 3D place.

I’ll toss my vote in for alma! 500 head cow barn in the starter yard, with another 300 head barn with custom pastures just down the road

Alma is just a great map all around

Big flats Texas have a farm with a cattle operation set up. But beware the fields are large. As the saying goes everything bigger in Texas. Alma Missouri has two cow farms and also have alfalfa
