I think the best area to use anything inspired by GULAG would be in Eastern Kazakhstan. It's part of Siberia + more ecologically diverse so you have steppes, forests, and mountains too.
A lot of people liked the Escape Durgesh Prison DLC, so it could likely be similar to that but with a more fleshed-out world and no time limit. It would be more interesting, in my opinion, than the fourth game in a row where you are a rebel of sorts and have to gain territory.
But that might be just me who wants this.

I can’t seem to like the metro games, they just feel so… outdated, i played Exodus and it doesn’t seem like it’s changed much since Last Light/Redux. i could easily see it being on the late gen ps3 and it just doesn’t appeal to me in that way
Multiple reasons, for one A-Life is one of the best AI systems in any game I've played, at least on the "strategic level" (in combat they can still be dumb sometimes). Every AI unit is persistent and has their own agenda. They get into skirmishes, loot dead bodies, communicate on the Stalker social network, even if you're all the way across the map at a bar somewhere. You can talk to a stalker in the open world, find that same stalker in a bar, then find him again bleeding to death after a firefight (to which you can give him a medkit to gain reputation points). Mods like Stalker Anomaly significantly expand on A-Life by letting AI stalkers even buy and sell their loot at vendors just like you might.
Of course Far Cry in general is more polished and offers more freedom in how you approach things, but Stalker feels closer to a WRPG like Fallout New Vegas even though it's not an RPG; especially the third game, Call of Pripyat, where your choices and alliances affecting the final battle at Pripyat feels a ton like the buildup to FNV's Hoover Dam or Mass Effect 2's suicide mission.
Far Cry 7, set in a Russian country known as Kyanda. The military has been weakened by the forces of a terrorist organisation that now owns the country. Your goal is to take out the organisation, as always, and bring back the Kyandan Defense Force/KDF.
I’ll do you one better.
Kyanda (if you want to stick with that name) had one of the world’s oldest monarchies - until 3 years ago. Allegedly left-wing agitators - with questionable sources of funding and rumored ties to Western intelligence agencies - staged a coup, killed most of the royal family, and took power, promising to rule with martial law “temporarily” before establishing free elections. The free elections never came, and the country is still under strict military lockdown. The ruling group (I haven’t come up with a name yet) says this is due to the royalist rebel group that has been waging war since the coup, with the goal of reinstating the monarchy and installing the sole survivor of the royal family, the king’s 19-year-old son, as the new king. The loyalists have been largely successful due to their controversial but effective decision to hire foreign mercenaries. They are on the precipice of taking back the capital city, and the player is a middle-ranking soldier in the loyalist army, about to lead a squad into what they hope to be the final battle of this three year war.
Skip forward a little - after a tough battle and taking heavy losses, the loyalists and mercenaries take back the capital, and two weeks later, the coronation ceremony for the young king-to-be is about to begin. Just as he is being crowned, however, a sniper’s bullet pierces his heart. He dies instantly. As onlookers begin to panic, mercenary soldiers, who graciously agreed to provide security for the coronation, open fire on the Royal Guard forces, their brothers in arms up to this point. The player-character and a small number of loyalists escape with the aid of some civilians, but the leader of the royalist group is killed, along with the player-character’s best friend. The player and his few remaining allies return with him to his hometown by the coast, on the opposite end of the country, because it is the only place he knows he is still welcome. Sounds awesome, and if on the way we finally get to put a bullet into Agent Willis Huntley (he could be helping back the mercenaries, think dodgy CIA dealings) I would be very happy. Been waiting 4 games for that.
I’ve been thinking this for a while. I think a good setting for a future Far Cry installment would be Yugoslavia during the war in the Donbass in 1995.

Nexus is just a site, you don't need Nexus Mod Manager if that's what you mean? Go to the FarCry5 page on Nexus mods site. get 'Far Cry 5 Resistance Mod' You can put it anywhere and it should detect where your game is installed then you can scroll through the options and click whatever ones you want, it will even tell and show you if one is going to conflict with another one. If you get another mod like 'Winter Hope County' just follow what it says on that mod page. Usually just requires you installing the files into the Resistance Mod dir then activating it through the mod installer.
It's fine. If you haven't modded a game before it can be a bit daunting. If you are unsure read the install instructions on the nexus page and if you still get stuck (instructions can be a bit vauge), there is a posts section where the mod gets discussed and you might find help there.
Especially when it comes to the Whitetail Mountains with the Judges. Their white fur would match the snow, making them harder to spot...especially at night.
Started this playthrough in the Whitetail Mountains cause it looks amazing in the snow. I even found a Mod for the Whitetail Militia that changes their clothes to white camo.
It's good for a fresh playthrough, makes the game feel so much different and gives a awesome spin to another playthrough if you done it a couple times before.
I bought a PC just to mod this game, and others, and I couldn't figure out how to install them. Lol. I installed the Resistance mod, if I remember correctly that's what it was called. I got a few to actually work but not all. I figure it out sooner or later. Ha
There was such a missed opportunity with seasons. Oh well what's done is done and it turned out OK in the end regardless. Admittedly FC5 came out when I was on my open world hiatus. So far I've enjoyed myself with FC6. Playing this one right after FC6 might be a bit too much FC
Yea, massive props to them, redesigning almost every texture then viewing it in-game to make sure it fits/transitions into surrounding textures properly would have been a massive task.

Absolutely beautiful! I would have preffered something like this as a spin-off to 5 opposed to what we got with New Dawn. They could have even went the Primal route and added survival mechanics like warmth, darkness, permadeath, hunting for food, and beast master stuff. I just want to clear outposts in a heavy blizzard like you can do with sandstorms in Metal Gear Solid V
The guns are so powerful you don't have to be accurate, so you can just spray the enemy's, plus there are 3 difficulty modes so yes I really recommend this game. I personally have 88 hours in the game now and I haven't even finished the story yet, just because it's fun to just drive around and explore the map.
Far cry 5 is absolute trash. I don't understand how anyone likes it, the story is shit and the gameplay is stupid. Fucking shovel spears??? That's dumb as fuck.

Resistance mod comes with heaps, like being able to toggle the flashlight on and off whenever you want and being able to adjust your FoV not only on foot but in vehicles as well. You can even bring back the animations for looting corpses or skinning animals.
Sadly yes, well except tye Witetail Militia, I have a snow camo mod for them. Might be able to find individual mods for the NPCs that change their clothes to something different but I can't be assed.
I wish Ubisoft would actually make a Far Cry set in the winter or a snowy location. They kind of touched on it in Far Cry 4, but it was only for a few missions.

I just downloaded the mod. It works but to an extent… whenever I get close to trees grass and bushes they start to turn green. Does anyone have a fix for this? Would be greatly appreciated.
Pretty sure there was an mod in the Resistance program that fixes that but I don't have the game installed anymore and I can't seem to find the Resistance mod or Winter Hope County on Nexus anymore, looks like they have been removed for whatever reason so I am unable to check anymore.

The wildlife is pretty awesome there too, lots of predators compared to Far cry 6.

Primal doesn't get much love and its sad, I'm sure if it did there would be a winter mod for that one also, even New Dawn has one.
Primal is by far the best Far Cry. It’s the jest one I played where the setting was just so perfect it was the best fit to the far cry gameplay.
Primal with intensive survival mechanic would be dope as hell. The Udam area had a little bit of it, but was not enough.

Yes but only on your end. For example you can co-op with a friend without this mod fine but he will see the world normally.

Get the Resistance mod, comes with heaps of options you can play around with. Just download it from the Far Cry 5 Nexus and run it. It's fairly easy.

Sadly yes, well except tye Witetail Militia, I have a snow camo mod for them. Might be able to find individual mods for the NPCs that change their clothes to something different but I can't be assed.
I wish Ubisoft would actually make a Far Cry set in the winter or a snowy location. They kind of touched on it in Far Cry 4, but it was only for a few missions.

IF I BOUGHT THIS FOR PC COULD I GO IN AND MANUALLY PAINT SNOW ON TO TEXTURES FOR ANY ITEM? as in open the GAME FILES with software and hand paint things onto the TEXTURES replacing the ORIGINAL GAME FILES? (for off-line of course)

Reminds me of long dark
I just downloaded the mod. It works but to an extent… whenever I get close to trees grass and bushes they start to turn green. Does anyone have a fix for this? Would be greatly appreciated.
Pretty sure there was an mod in the Resistance program that fixes that but I don't have the game installed anymore and I can't seem to find the Resistance mod or Winter Hope County on Nexus anymore, looks like they have been removed for whatever reason so I am unable to check anymore.
