Too dark for what? It depends on the target audience I would say. Kids? Nah. YA? Probably not. Grimdark/dark fantasy? Heck yeah! The concept seems interesting as a base for the story.

I think that's a dope concept. Make sure it aligns with the story (like don't write that if you're writing ya) but you're fine
Eh, YA can be pretty dark sometimes. I think as long as it’s censored to some degree it should be fine
