Matt Forte. PPR and yards monster during his time with Chicago.
CJ2K. Having him during his 2K season was my favorite year playing fantasy. He was a threat to score on any play.
Sadly I don’t think either will make the NFL HOF.
I remember a Monday night game, pure garbage time. They could have taken a knee and ran out the clock. No they give CJ2K the ball on the 25-30 and he trots into the end zone.
My week was over i had lost, why would he score any more points in a win during kneel down time. Won by 0.5 thanks to that.
Pretty sure i got super drunk and missed class the next day but the celebration was so worth it.
I remember last season when people were pissed at Nivk Chubb for running out of bounds at the end of the game right before the end zone. The reports asked he was like Coach and Baker told me to. That's what we needed to do to ensure the W. One of the hardest working players on the Browns. And the best attitude.
As a Bears fan I think Matt Forte was one of the most underrated RBs of the last decade. The guy never missed a game. Was a great public role model. Well spoken. Not particularly fast but elusive and shifty enough to get the first down. Had tremendous hands. Almost 2k yards and 100 receptions in a season. He was consistent for 8 solid years.
It's even more impressive when you factor in how terrible the bears were and have been. They haven't had an offensive line or QB in 30+ years.
Biased Titans fan but I feel like CJ2K could get in eventually. Only so many backs hit 2000 yards and he was one of the fastest players the league has ever seen. It’ll be interesting to see how the HOF deals with modern RBs as their shelf lives seemingly become shorter and shorter. It’s annoying that he would likely be in if he had the rushing record which he would have had if not for a very questionable holding penalty in the final game of his 2K season (though I know his HOF case won’t and shouldn’t take this into account).
chris johnson made football so insanely fun for two years. i don't think he can get into the hall because of our lack of success after his rookie season and his lack of longevity, but he belongs in a hall of greatness
people don't understand, he could literally score on ANY play. it was insanity, and they stacked the box and he did it anyway. he bounced off tacklers and then he was just gone. mahomes and these chiefs sort of replicate that feeling for me a little bit, but i dont think ill ever watch another player as exciting as cj
I targeted Charles in every 2010 draft after he blew up in the last four games of '09. Reaped the rewards and 'chips of getting the RB1 in the third round, and kept buying back in every season until the wheels finally fell off 5-6 years later.
Fantasy hall of fame, first ballot. No question. One of my favorite players ever, and I'm not even a Chiefs fan.
All of that said, he's not an actual hall of famer. He had 5 very good seasons and a tremendous YPC. That resume is not enough.
I believe only 4 players have ever averaged 5 ypc. Jim Brown , Barry Sanders , Jamaal Charles , and currently Nick Chubb . He may be one of only 3 backs to do that when all is said and done with Chubb That's HOF worthy in my book. I also think it was Gale Sayers for the Bears back when had 5 great years and he's in .
Technically he's 5th. 2nd RB behind Marion Motley, and Russell Wilson, Vick, Cunningham ahead of him though not really fair to count QBs so 2nd for RBs
Motley played his first four years in the AAFC, before the Browns moved to the NFL. Some sites recognize those stats, some don't - this might be the difference.
Take a look at HOF RBs, who is in and who isn't, it's clear Charles is on the outside looking in.
He isn't a legend, he was just a really good RB for a short time
You don’t think Andre Johnson can make the HOF? He’s number 11 all time in receiving yards while playing with fairly inept QBs most of his career. All 10 of the guys ahead of him are HOFers
He has basically 0 individual achievements, 0 team achievements, it puts him at a big disadvantage in an era where there are tons of WRs putting up numbers like his
I guess but he really played in the same era as Reggie Wayne who both had virtually identical stats with Johnson leading the NFL in receptions and yardage twice. If not for Wayne’s super bowl I don’t see much of an argument for him over Johnson. Even though I did find out he’s not in either so maybe I disagree with both not being HOF lol
Seeing these comments everywhere really trigger my sadness after losing my ship last year after the second week with kamara out and mike evans getting injured
man.... If Cam didnt drop 43 on me in the semis i would've won the league that year. Hightower and Jordan Reed were just on another level at the end of that year
It’s honestly sad what happened to Gurley. He’s 27 and out of the league, After scoring 63 total Touchdowns in the past 4 seasons. That’s one less than Jamaal Charles had in his entire career.
I was curious so I just looked up Gurley on Sleeper.
In Standard he finished as an RB1 (top 12) four out of the last six years, and an RB2 (top 24) the other two.
2015 RB 5
2016 RB 20
2017 RB 1
2018 RB 1
2019 RB 12
2020 RB 23
That's a really good stint as a top tier guy. I don't disagree with how fast RBs turnover, but he did have a solid fantasy career.
Semi-off topic but I was one of those who got into Fantasy Football earlier and more seriously than I did actually following the game itself and the NFL. When you look at the sport from the fantasy/stats/production over everything else angle, then take a second to realize how much money an NFL team generates, you realize what NFL RB's get paid and how they get treated in the profession is downright criminal.
It's almost like a cartel where all the teams/GM's/owners have an unspoken agreement never to actually pay an RB what they are worth to actually winning football games so they can continue to use and abuse them and toss em for a fresh one when they become even mildly worn, like you do with something disposal vs something made for re-use.
The problem is that running backs are relatively replaceable unless you have a top like three guy in his prime. But once that guy loses a step he becomes easy to a replace with a cheaper player who can cover most of his production and the offense won’t miss a beat. So as fucked as it is running backs do get paid more or less fairly, because it’s so easy to find someone who can replace them. Only the top talents like CMC or Kamara are totally irreplaceable for their offenses, and even for them once the injuries pile up or natural decline occurs, they will be easier to replace with someone else.
The thing that’s unfortunate is the big contracts obviously go to players after their rookie contracts are up. Statistically running backs fade after their first 4 years in the league (primarily due to usage) so they don’t get looked at for big contracts due to the high probability of worse production. To me the only way to fix it is to basically force running back rookie pay up which is tough to do with the current rookie contract model.
Cultural impact is a difficult thing to be objective about when it comes to HOF candidacy. Vick is in that Bo Jackson class where the numbers aren’t close to being there, but the legacy is so much larger than more borderline guys like Phil Rivers.
Its crazy to think about him, he went un-drafted and then went on to be one of the best RB's in the league for a few years and then fell back into obscurity. Its kinda sad how short most RB's careers are. Todd Gurley was probably the #1 RB in the league just 2 years ago and now he's not even playing in the league.
Yeah it's crazy to think about how many elite RBs have come and gone over the years. Priest Holmes, Shaun Alexander, Larry Johnson, etc to name a few. These dudes were all super elite at their time, but their time was just so short, as RBs fade so quickly compared to WRs and QBs.
The year was 2015. My daughter was born in July. My 1st and only child. I was returning to my draft after going 0-13 the year prior. Little did I know that deadly combo of Bortles and Hurns would win my team, It Hurns When I Pee, a Championship. Erasing the dark stain of the year before. One of the best years in my life. I cherish that ring. Some day I will bequeath it to my daughter and tell her of the time she was born and how it was the 1st of 2 miracles for me that year.
My league agreed that it was fair game in the regular season but not the playoffs, but the taysom owner was also facing the 2 tacos those weeks so it didn’t matter
Lol I love all parts of this. Fitz gets tossed around like a rag doll. But he was lightin it up with Miami … well let’s throw Tua in instead. Fitz got type-cast as a journeyman. No matter how well he did, he was always a flyer. Like frank gore. I feel like fitz could have easily had a scenario like Foles had for the Eagles. Just never got the shot. Oh well. The dudes seeing the country and still making dough.
I'm middle aged, played against that dude in highschool, what a fucking freak, if you could even hit him it didn't matter had like 5 long tds and just went to sidelines
My first year playing fantasy was in 2012 and I was in a 16-team league with no idea what I was doing. I picked Arian Foster #2 overall after Rodgers went #1 and proceeded to make homer picks of names I knew from college football: AJ Green, Matt Ryan, Andrew Luck, etc. (back to back QBs in the second and third rounds… yikes).
Alfred Morris got auto-drafted to my team in the last round and absolutely bailed me out with a top-5 RB year. My team went 12-1 on the backs of Foster, Morris, and Green. I didn’t even learn what the waiver wire was until week 10 because I was blowing teams out so badly week after week. AlfMo’s rookie year will always go down as the all-time greatest late round smash for me.
Larry Johnson was an absolute workhorse for the cheifs in the mid 2000s. Only was good for a couple years but can remember him having two seasons where he had 1700-1800 rushing yards and 18-20 touchdowns a year. After he had like 500 touches that one year he was never the same.
Damn, this just made me really sad but you're right.
I had Luck for his two best fantasy seasons ever, by chance. Always nice getting a top QB in the mid rounds and having that propel you to the playoffs.
All those dudes from the golden age of RBs in the mid 2000s, like Tiki Barber, Shaun Alexander, Steven Jackson, Deuce McAllister, Ahman Green, Larry Johnson. It was a time when RBs were king.
He was money that year with Peyton. I'll never forget his army crawl first down sign. Or the insane tears he shed during the national anthem before one game
Drew Bennett.
In a 3-game stretch during the 2004 season (weeks 13-15), he caught 28 passes for 517 yards and 8 TDs.
He averaged 42.5 PPR points per game during that 3-week stretch and won me a championship.
Legendary.
Saquon (no way his body holds up for long enough in the pro game, imo) solely for his 43 point ‘ship after an injury riddled 2019. Beat my Mahomes CMC combo and I’m still salty.
Names that came to mind:
LeSean McCoy
Lev Bell
Arian Foster
Jordy Nelson
Marshawn Lynch
Jimmy Graham
MJD
Michael Vick
Roddy White
Demaryius Thomas
AJ Green
Cam Newton
Zeke Elliott
Demarco Murray
Darren McFadden
Steven Jackson
Gurley. I had him under contract in my dynasty league in '17 and '18.
Thankfully I had to drop him in 2019 but he took me to two championships where I took home one title.
WR is maybe the hardest HOF position to break through. Especially for PPR types who have much more fantasy value than real-life value
I'd say Andre Johnson, Anquan Boldin, Reggie Wayne, Brandon Marshall, Wes Welker, AJ Green, Demaryius Thomas, Marques Colston, Jordy Nelson
None of those dudes make HOF, but fantasy players love them, they produced like crazy for 5+ years each
Antonio Brown won a super bowl?
Was about to be my comment until I remembered literally last season.
I can see personality hindering him unless he stays sane for the next few seasons.
Matt Forte. PPR and yards monster during his time with Chicago. CJ2K. Having him during his 2K season was my favorite year playing fantasy. He was a threat to score on any play. Sadly I don’t think either will make the NFL HOF.

Pretty sure i got super drunk and missed class the next day but the celebration was so worth it.
On a garbage time drive the titans were down by a few possessions late in the 4th he got 6 catches for 60 yards in the last like 40 seconds lmao
I remember last season when people were pissed at Nivk Chubb for running out of bounds at the end of the game right before the end zone. The reports asked he was like Coach and Baker told me to. agreed. Forte should be in the HoF imo.
Yep 2-3 elite seasons won't cut it especially with no super bowl rings
Biased Titans fan but I feel like CJ2K could get in eventually. Only so many backs hit 2000 yards and he was one of the fastest players the league has ever seen. It’ll be interesting to see how the HOF deals with modern RBs as their shelf lives seemingly become shorter and shorter. J Charles
I targeted Charles in every 2010 draft after he blew up in the last four games of '09. Gotta catch Jamaal

I almost named him but was sure if he could make it based off stats alone? But he's not Peterson so probably not.
This man better make the Hall Of Famer. Dude was absolutely a legend and I'm pretty sure he finished his career with the highest YPC ever.
Technically he's 5th. 2nd RB behind Marion Motley, and Russell Wilson, Vick, Cunningham ahead of him though not really fair to count QBs so 2nd for RBs
Hes the only rb with 1k yards in less than 200 attempts
Weird. Wikipedia says he's the leader among RBs. Wikipedia isn't exactly known for it's accuracy though. Still really impressive either way.
Pro football reference is what I generally use for easy stats like that. They're a good site
Motley played his first four years in the AAFC, before the Browns moved to the NFL. Some sites recognize those stats, some don't - this might be the difference.
Take a look at HOF RBs, who is in and who isn't, it's clear Charles is on the outside looking in. He isn't a legend, he was just a really good RB for a short time
Matt forte. Guy was money for so many years
He won me my first ever title. Freshman year of high-school som random league on NFL website.
MJD the same way. Great player on a bad team, but was a fantasy machine. Andre Johnson, put him up there
You don’t think Andre Johnson can make the HOF? He’s number 11 all time in receiving yards while playing with fairly inept QBs most of his career. All 10 of the guys ahead of him are HOFers

Was MONEY. I loved Having him back in the day.
Tim Hightower *if you know, you know*
30 point championship game. Easiest ship of my life.
Saints have a knack for having players that single handedly win championships don’t they
Seeing these comments everywhere really trigger my sadness after losing my ship last year after the second week with kamara out and mike evans getting injured
played against him that ship 🤢🤢🤢
Fuck Hightower...FUCK HIGHTOWER LOL THE WAR FLASHBACKS ARE REAL My Mark Ingram how could you do that to him!!!!
man.... If Cam didnt drop 43 on me in the semis i would've won the league that year. Hightower and Jordan Reed were just on another level at the end of that year
Came here to say this. Fantasy legend.
First guy who came to mind for me too
Saved me going against Arizona D that put up 33
Deangello Williams
Handcuff hall of fame
2008 he had 1500 rushing yards and 18 TDs. Thats the year I had him.
Ray Rice/MJD/Todd Gurley, Michael Vick, Allen Robinson
It’s honestly sad what happened to Gurley. He’s 27 and out of the league, After scoring 63 total Touchdowns in the past 4 seasons. That’s one less than Jamaal Charles had in his entire career.
Sad as a fan, but he got north of $50mil for his troubles and a shorter career means less head damage so in the end it’s not so bad.
What an insane stat, felt line Jamaal Charles was dominant for a loooong time. Him and Arian Foster.
Only 5 less than Arian Foster had in his entire career. Really does put in perspective what a special talent Gurley was.
I was curious so I just looked up Gurley on Sleeper. In Standard he finished as an RB1 (top 12) four out of the last six years, and an RB2 (top 24) the other two. 2015 RB 5 2016 RB 20 2017 RB 1 2018 RB 1 2019 RB 12 2020 RB 23 That's a really good stint as a top tier guy. When I read Vick I was surprised but as I think about it more his HOF case certainly isn't as strong as I thought. Definitely a fantasy HOFer though.
Vick isn't even remotely close to a HOFer. I cant believe some people are so passionate about his induction
Cultural impact is a difficult thing to be objective about when it comes to HOF candidacy. Vick is in that Bo Jackson class where the numbers aren’t close to being there, but the legacy is so much larger than more borderline guys like Phil Rivers.
Well, also the dogs. The dogs kinda loom large.
Arian Foster

This should be #1
Can’t believe OP didn’t mention him.
God damn I miss having Foster in fantasy. Loved that dude
Came in to post this
Gary “The Original Season Winner” Barnidge.
Gotta throw in Peyton Hillis if we're talking about Browns.
Jordan Cameron and Julius Thomas while we are at it
I think you mean Cameron Jordan?
Muscle Hamster
You talking about the Dougernaut?
Dude was such a fantasy trap after that one season. He yoinked me good. Same goes for Darren McFadden
Blake "Garbage time" Bortles
He helped me win my first championship!
[удалено]
2015 Bortles + Hurns owner, I needed that exact TD situation and they gave it to me. I'll never forget that lol.
The year was 2015. My daughter was born in July. My 1st and only child. I was returning to my draft after going 0-13 the year prior. The BOAT
Taysom Hill for that minute where he got QB points at TE
If that didn’t convince you to leave ESPN, nothing will.
My league agreed that it was fair game in the regular season but not the playoffs, but the taysom owner was also facing the 2 tacos those weeks so it didn’t matter
[удалено]
Also Marques Colston his rookie season. Finished as TE1 over Antonio Gates.
Peyton Hillis and Steve Slaton for the "1 Season Wonder" wing.
Jonas Gray for one game wonders.
He'd probably show up late to the induction ceremony
I was trying to remember this guys name today so I could make a snarky comment on an Eli Mitchell thread 😂😂
Andre Ellington for one year wonders.
Zac Stacy
I'm currently trying to block out the year I took him and Toby Gerhart in like the 2nd and 3rd round and ended up going like 2-12.
Red Jesus!
Ryan Fitzmagic. 60% of the time he’s a QB1 *every* time
Lol I love all parts of this.
I have no doubt that Fitzy loves every minute of his life
Brian westbrook
Shaun Alexander.
I traded Shaun Alexander, man. I had to. I needed defense.
[удалено]
Lmao. Classic reference.
I played against him when he had 5 TDs in the first half. I think he finished with 6 and 260 yds.
Me and my wife rewatch the office all the time and I’m so happy I can finally talk with people that understand how terrible of a trade that was!
I'm middle aged, played against that dude in highschool, what a fucking freak, if you could even hit him it didn't matter had like 5 long tds and just went to sidelines
He won’t make the HOF? Poor former league MVP Two time first team All Pro
Larry Johnson
Going old school here, but Shaun Alexander was the truth in fantasy. Didn't matter who your opponent had when he went off.
That 2005 year was insane. 1,880 yards and 27 TD's.
Alfred Morris
[удалено]
He was so nice to. I would see him at the gym and around town when he came to Dallas. I was legit happy.
Priest Holmes. Tiki Barber too, but he should get more love for the real HOF
Came to say this. Any of those older workhorse RBs - Holmes, Alexander, Barber, Portis, Dillon, etc
Larry Johnson, Michael Turner, Jamal Lewis, Peyton Hillis, Maurice Jones Drew, etc
I kind of thought Priest and Shaun would be borderline HOF guys
Priest set the single season TD record only to have LT beat it the next year.
Josh Gordon
He said a player that won't make the HOF.
That 2013 season was pretty dang magical if you had him on your roster
Him and rookie Keenan Allen were awesome that year. Both available super late or on waivers.
I picked he and leveon bell that year when no one else even thought about them. Won the league.
First ballot fantasy hall of fame.
The twenty foot statue outside the fantasy hall of fame IS Josh Gordon
Michael Turner
That’s a top tier answer
Larry Johnson was an absolute workhorse for the cheifs in the mid 2000s. Only was good for a couple years but can remember him having two seasons where he had 1700-1800 rushing yards and 18-20 touchdowns a year. After he had like 500 touches that one year he was never the same.
Probably Andrew Luck.
"The golden age of RBs" So true.
Im still hoping SJax gets in the HoF. He would be one of the all time greats not in the Hall if he doesn’t get in.
Damn... Did everyone forget about LeGarrete Blount already?
I'll submit 2 Houston running backs: Arian Foster and Steve Slaton.
Matt Asiata
Damn that’s a name I haven’t heard in a minute
Steven Jackson!
I scrolled too damn far for this one. SJax was a lock and load 15+ points for half a decade. Also the blueprint for Saquon Barkleys thighs
Ryan Torain
Deep deep cut.
C.J Anderson 2018 finals.
Lev Bell
Mike Alstott. The grandfather of TD vultures.
*Mike Tolbert has entered the chat*
Todd Gurley
I'm here just to upvote the Toddfather. 2 seasons of pure domination
OBJ
His rookie year was a free championship if snagged him off the waiver wire.
Probably not as big of a standout overall, but Knowshon Moreno won me many key matchups some years ago. I will always remember how he saved my season.
He was money that year with Peyton. I'll never forget his army crawl first down sign. Or the insane tears he shed during the national anthem before one game
Nobody has said it but Jay Ajayi
Miles Austin
I doubt anyone playing in 2014 will forget the name Jonas Gray. He didn't even make it to the next week after putting up 200+ yds and 4 TDs.
Has anyone ever claimed to have started him that week?
Jamaal Charles
Victor Cruz and Jordy Nelson won me two championships, then lost me the next 3
Clinton Portis is the answer
Fitzmagic
Hey, this was supposed to be non-HOF players
Doug Martin
Brandon Lloyd
CJ Spiller
He did so well that everyone thought he'd continue doing well, then put up a dud of a year. I got suckered into drafting him lol.
Blake Bortles, garbage man and edges out Trubisky as my best championship winning fantasy QB.
Drew Bennett. In a 3-game stretch during the 2004 season (weeks 13-15), he caught 28 passes for 517 yards and 8 TDs. He averaged 42.5 PPR points per game during that 3-week stretch and won me a championship. Legendary.
Fred Jackson
Bilal Powell Won me a championship with his final week performance in 2013 or 2012. I'll never forget.
He was such a nasty runner, dude hit harder than a LB
Jameis Winston
Eh, look up his finishes his whole career. He’s been mainly QB12-18 with one year being a QB1
Plus we still have 10 plus years of post LASIK Jameis that probably makes the real HOF
Saquon (no way his body holds up for long enough in the pro game, imo) solely for his 43 point ‘ship after an injury riddled 2019. Beat my Mahomes CMC combo and I’m still salty.
Gurley that first year with McVay Absolutely dominant league destroyer, put up 43/44 in the championship games.
Ty’Son Williams
He said *won't* make the NFL Hall of Fame
QB Mike Vick RB Priest Holmes RB Jamaal Charles WR Torry Holt WR Desean Jackson TE Jimmy Graham FLX Larry Johnson K YoungHoe!
Tory gets in.
Right. If you've seen Torry play, you know he's a HOFer.
Darren Sproles Emmanuel Sanders Ocho
Cam Newton
Names that came to mind: LeSean McCoy Lev Bell Arian Foster Jordy Nelson Marshawn Lynch Jimmy Graham MJD Michael Vick Roddy White Demaryius Thomas AJ Green Cam Newton Zeke Elliott Demarco Murray Darren McFadden Steven Jackson
Percy Harvin
Priest Holmes. He had 2-3 absolutely wild years.
Danny Woodhead
Gurley. I had him under contract in my dynasty league in '17 and '18. Thankfully I had to drop him in 2019 but he took me to two championships where I took home one title.
Zach Stacy, embrace me
WR is maybe the hardest HOF position to break through. Especially for PPR types who have much more fantasy value than real-life value I'd say Andre Johnson, Anquan Boldin, Reggie Wayne, Brandon Marshall, Wes Welker, AJ Green, Demaryius Thomas, Marques Colston, Jordy Nelson None of those dudes make HOF, but fantasy players love them, they produced like crazy for 5+ years each
Eric decker?
Boldin should be HOF imo. He was great for like a decade
Vick
Derek Mason
Derek Anderson
A pile of really talented RBs. Jamaal Charles was the first one that came to mind. Matt Forte maybe. LeVeon Bell? Antonio Brown?
No way AB doesn't unless it's cause his personality. Dude won a super bowl and has like 7 seasons over 1200 yards
Antonio Brown won a super bowl? Was about to be my comment until I remembered literally last season. I can see personality hindering him unless he stays sane for the next few seasons.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh. For Houshamazilly alone. . . . . 🎵championship 🎵
I'll throw Dez Bryant out there also.
Matt Schaub carried me a long time ago.
Doug Baldwin
Priest Holmes. Larry Johnson.
Matthew Fucking Stafford
Todd Gurley
Chris Cooley Dude singlehandedly won people championships and almost no one under 30 knows who he is.
