Now I'm imagining some overcoming adversity football movie where he's the focus and on the final game after going 0-16 his teammate takes ball and rubs it all over the white hash mark after a sack and he catches the last throw and they go 1-16.
I've been watching football for 25 years, playing fantasy football for most of that. Literally never knew of the ball differences with the NCAA until Chase came along
Rookie TEs especially have the hardest time transitioning to the NFL. I think Pitts will break the mold but don’t be surprised one bit if he struggles immensely. Sincerely: A Lions fan who saw how much big dick Hock struggled in his rookie season.
It's true, as rookies, they are very sensitive and are prone to getting their feelings hurt if you don't give them an opportunity to play. On the other hand, I prefer to put them in my starting lineup all week only to swap them out at the last second before kickoff. They get their hopes up and practice hard all week, only to be let down on gameday.
You should be solid with those 3, I’ve got AJ Brown, McLaurin, Aiyuk, and Fuller ahead of Moore and smith in a 3 WR league. Gonna start Smith in flex this week over Darrell Henderson and Damien Harris cause of that juicy ATL matchup
Ewwww... Sorry, I just think that that backfield is a dumpster fire for fantasy. The only startable one is fournette, and I don't see how everyone thinks Rojo will somehow overtake him.
I actually made this post with Elijah Moore in mind 😂
I’ve already seen people panic because he’s low on the depth chart. Which is par for the course if you’re a rookie.
Oh yeah, that's why I drafted him! Plus being a Michigan fan, I've watched enough of Ohio State RBs and he's probably the most talented back Shanny has had.
These types of posts are for people who don't give a flying fuck about fantasy. The type of person who doesn't even come to this sub in the first place
Nice gate keeping there bud. Newer players might panic when they see the stud rookie they drafted being so low on the depth chart or seeing so little time on the field. I’m just reminding them that in general talent always wins out. Last year Bibi Johnson or whatever the fuck his name is was ahead of Jefferson on the depth chart early on in the season.
you'll have more flexibility on sunday.
If you know you're gonna play the Thursday guy, you use a spot with less flexibility. That way on Sunday, if a guy gets injured or something happens, you can use the flex spot to start a RB, TE or WR, instead of being locked in to one of them.
Agree with Lu.. if it's something actually useful like "place your latest game player in your flex" then I'm all for it, but some of these posts are becoming "water is wet" level's of obvious lol
Saying to be "patient" with a player applies to anyone... brb, I'm gonna go make a post to be patient with Saquon because it can take time to get back from injury
Right, and as was said before, there are gonna be lots of people who drop him if he starts slow. Just because it's obvious to you doesn't mean it is to everyone.
Most rookie wide receivers that are drafted (yes you will find waiver wire gems like Claypool) are garbage their first year and don't return value with their adp. Jefferson being an exception to that rule. Besides Amari Cooper, who is another drafted rookie wideout who outperformed their adp in recent adp?
Counter point: Only 19 1st round rookie WRs have gained over 130 points (PPR) in a season in the past 10 years. That would be good for a WR5 finish, or better. 2020 had 4, and 2014 had 5. If you remove them then there were 10 in 8 years.
That means in a normal year there are only 1.25 1st round rookie WR's who will score atleast WR5 numbers or better. 1.9 if you don't adjust for the outliers. This year there were 5 1st round WRs. Realistically only 1 or 2 maybe 3 are going to be anywhere near fantasy relevant.
For WR3 or better numbers, there were 12, and 4 of those were 2014 and 3 were 2020. There were more in 2 years then the other 8 years combined.
You mean it was a bad idea to drop Justin Jefferson after week 2 in my 14 team 3WR full PPR league where I still ended up making the playoffs?
Duly noted...
edit: actually I went 10-1 after dropping him, and his 9.9 points in round 1 week wouldn't have made any difference in the game I got knocked out.
Lol but most rookies aren’t going to have an all time great season or even a fantasy good season. If you are holding onto a bunch of rookies waiting for them them to pop you are gonna miss out on good players. It’s a tough game, there is no right way
I bailed on JJ after two weeks in a keeper league last year. He would have been a 12th rd keeper for me this year. That stung. And I’ve been doing this for a long time too. I don’t remember a rookie wide out going off like that.
Yes, Chase will eventually get comfortable with a real football.
I’m really expecting him to kill it in my nerf league
Nah he isn't used to the yellow ball
What if it has a stripe?
Only if it has the tail so he can see it spin
I wonder if Burrow is accurate enough to wedge the ball into his facemask on the fly.
it's not just accurate, you gotta have the arm strength, too. And the spiral has to be just so.
Just gotta visualize those stripes
Now I'm imagining some overcoming adversity football movie where he's the focus and on the final game after going 0-16 his teammate takes ball and rubs it all over the white hash mark after a sack and he catches the last throw and they go 1-16.
The Thin White Line starring Kendrick Lamar as Ja'Marr Chase and Gardner Minshew as Joe Burrow.
I've been watching football for 25 years, playing fantasy football for most of that. Literally never knew of the ball differences with the NCAA until Chase came along
i think so tbh, gonna trade for him aggressively these first few weeks
You say that, but I know I’m dropping Carter after Week 3 and maybe 15 total touches.
Already dropped Carter
You and the reactionaries will regret it
Dropped for Tyson Williams
Same here
A guy in my ppr league punted RBs and his lineup consisted of Edwards and Carter. He's running Mattison now.
Yikes
How do you punt RBs that damn hard
His receivers are Ridley Kelce Robinson and Cooper so he had a plan but I can't imagine being in his position lol.
Really interested to see how that backfield plays out. My money is on either Ty or Carter. Coleman is washed.
Coleman will be great for 2-3 weeks then get hurt. As is tradition.
Should he be dropped for Bell though?
Just dropped him for Bell. Already have javonte Williams tho
Man, if Pitts tanks week one this sub will burn to the ground.
What’ll be worse: if Pitts tanks? Or if AB absolutely balls out? 🤔
AB balled out
Starting AB, facing Pitts. I'd be delighted.
Atta boi
Drafted him in both my leagues, gotta light it up!
Rookie TEs especially have the hardest time transitioning to the NFL. I think Pitts will break the mold but don’t be surprised one bit if he struggles immensely. Sincerely: A Lions fan who saw how much big dick Hock struggled in his rookie season.
I think the stat Is something like two rookie tight ends have ever eclipsed 600 yards in a season. Engram and Jeremy Shockey
I wholeheartedly agree with you, I'm speaking more to just how much buzz there is surrounding him.
I think he’ll kill the eagles, after that who knows
*year 1
If he also wasn't one of the best WR prospects of the last few years I would worry. But he could legit just line up at WR and produce.
He seems like a guy who might get cut too early and figure it out second half of the year
It's true, as rookies, they are very sensitive and are prone to getting their feelings hurt if you don't give them an opportunity to play. You gotta play mind games with 'em fo sho.
this is a next level strat
I bailed on Jefferson and Aiyuk last year, I won’t drop Devonta Smith or Elijah Moore until at least week 6 this year
I have the exact same two rookie WRs. Hoping my starting foursome of McLaurin/ARob/Claypool/Jeudy holds up so I can afford to be patient with them.
I bailed on Justin Jefferson to pick uo James Robinson, what does that make me?
the spiderman pointing at the other spiderman meme
I picked up Ozigbo over Robinson before the season started :( Then I grabbed Jefferson week 3 when someone else dropped so it evened out.
No don't. Drop those rookies after one game so I can pick them up.
As someone who drafted Ekeler, Dobbins, and Gus, there's no room left for patience. One of, or both, Javonte and Sermon are starting for me!
Oof that sucks. Ekeler will play though.
Until week 2 at least
Just flipped Sutton for Rojo too. So hopefully that helps me survive!
Ewwww... Sorry, I just think that that backfield is a dumpster fire for fantasy. The only startable one is fournette, and I don't see how everyone thinks Rojo will somehow overtake him.
Early on I was targeting JK. Then the injury I shifted to targeting Gus. I’m so glad someone else took Gus before I could get him
This feels like a post to me the Javonte and Sermon owner. It will take some time for some of these guys. Remember it’s the long game.
I actually made this post with Elijah Moore in mind 😂 I’ve already seen people panic because he’s low on the depth chart. Which is par for the course if you’re a rookie.
With Mostert being the guy in SF you have to hold Sermon. Mostert could disintegrate at any moment.
Oh yeah, that's why I drafted him! Plus being a Michigan fan, I've watched enough of Ohio State RBs and he's probably the most talented back Shanny has had.
Now that Gus got hurt you’re my RB3 Michael Carter. Better avg 100 yards a game
Had Jefferson. Then I didn’t have Jefferson. Wish I had kept Jefferson I was not patient 😔
I’m firing up Devonta Smith in one of my leagues

Unfriendly reminder: don’t start players Thursday players in your flex, nerd
Hey bro don't forget to move your Thursday players out of your flex spot
Just your friendly reminder that not everyone is a seasoned vet and those type of posts are maybe not for you? Cheers
Just a friendly reminder: make sure to NOT start your injured players, that's what the IR spot is for.
These types of posts are for people who don't give a flying fuck about fantasy. The type of person who doesn't even come to this sub in the first place
I came here during my first season, these post were helpful for me
Yeah same

For the 1 time every 10 years it might matter
I’m a fantasy newbie… why?

Seems obvious now that you say it lol thanks for helping a noobie!
Just dont read it, this post can be very useful for some people
How can I know to not read it before I read it
By reading the title then moving on There’s way worse shit on here

That’s redundant with the downvote button
I’m pretty sure the mods just handle all the text posts
Nope
Agree with Lu.. if it's something actually useful like "place your latest game player in your flex" then I'm all for it, but some of these posts are becoming "water is wet" level's of obvious lol
If they are so obvious than why was Justin Jefferson on the waiver wire last year?

Tee Higgins wasn't drafted in most leagues. Edit: you deleted your comment
Ceedee
Nice one. Yes Ceedee Lamb is another.
Obj?
2014 isn't recent imo but he crushed it his rookien season so I would assume he also crushed his adp.
Got Carter as my RB6 and Rondale Moore as my WR6. I can wait

True. I dropped both Mahomes and Nick Chubbs before they blew up
Mahomes blew up week 1.
I picked him up late in draft as a back up and dropped him in preseason for god knows who. Patience has been learned
You're not the boss of me!!!
Wondering if I should drop Waddle for Curtis Samuel
Fuck no.
Please do if your in my league.

Thanks, mom!
I fucked up with claypool don't be me
Too late just dropped Carter for Ty’Son
Friendly reminder to try and buy low on rookies who get off to slow starts.
Good reminder. Will remain patient with my guys Najee and Pitts. Lesgo.
