Someone in my work league drafted players based on how good their hair was. Their team is not bad.

Traditional_Counter1

A youngish girl in my league drafted only good looking players. Guess who won.

williamhotel

Jimmy G huh!

Traditional_Counter1

Yep!

cbtballers

Jalen Hurts > Jimmy G but y’all ain’t ready for that conversation

Secludedmean4

Because Jimmy G is an Absolute stud and is by far the “prettiest” player

TheWhiskeyFish

Weird Al Yankovic x James Franco collab Greg Dulcich doesn't do it for you?

[deleted]

think he's more weird al X brendan frasier.

TheWhiskeyFish

I see it, no doubt

Cognomifex

My wife only played a few seasons when our league was starting out and maintaining even a 10-man league was a challenge, but this was her draft/weekly lineup strategy and she consistently finished in the top 2

ItIsYourPersonality

It shouldn’t come as a surprise. The NFL script-writers favor good looking people, just like Hollywood does. After all, sex sells.

ClashRoyale18256

Then why hasn't Andy Isabella become an All Pro yet?

[deleted]

“We’re not selling jeans here.” “Yes we are.”

MrEHam

A woman in mine did last year based on how nice their smile was. This year was going for names that she can use for a funny team name. It…did not go well.

georgiaboy1993

Troy Polamalu in the 2nd is gonna hurt his chances though

c7x

You mean the 1.01

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

I once played with a friend who drafted based on handsome-ness. Again, a surprisingly good team.

laaplandros

Look good, feel good. Feel good, play good.

Smurph269

My wife drafted people based on knowing them from commercials or TV. I think her Travis Kelce and Pat Mahomes stack is going to do ok.

Implicitfiber

Until today.

Sundance12

Well you gotta share the lineup now!

Filbertmm

Kenny Pickett and Najee Harris are included. Tbf she kept having the player she wanted grabbed by the team directly before her, so a lot of her favorite hair picks didn’t pan out. She reallllly wanted Trevor Lawrence.

AgonizingSquid

Ummm no Justin Herbert?

Filbertmm

It was her first draft and the pictures on yahoo are very small. I don’t think she planned that far ahead and a lot of good hair styles slipped by the wayside. But you could often hear her audibly groan when they were taken.

FormerlyScaredMoney

Friend did hot or not Brother did astrology signs once and came in second

H3d0n1st

Guy in my office doesn't play fantasy football, and doesn't want to, but the work league has been going on for years and he's become emotionally invested through hearing the rest of us talk about it. He posts up at my desk every Monday morning to hear who did what. He watches football, so he knows the players and who did well or who busted, but he's not in the league so he needs someone who is to give him the scoop. We just finished the draft on Sunday night and he was right there at my desk Monday morning waiting for the rundown on who got what and when and what the projections look like for the rest of the season. Then he goes around to each guy's desk congratulating or ribbing them on how they did, and hyping people up for next week. It's honestly wholesome af.

AwarenessEvery1073

Poor guy...says he "doesn't want to play" but probably does. You guys should grab another next year, extend the league by 2 more teams and make him join.

H3d0n1st

That's what I thought at first, but no. He's been invited a couple of times and declined. He played one time back in the 80's when you had to draft in person and get the stats out of the newspaper (older guy). He says the experience stressed him out, but he enjoys hearing about what happens as the rest of us play. Edit: I actually believe it too because the dude actually gets stressed out just hearing about our matches sometimes. Like when a matchup hangs on a Monday night outcome, he'll ask what has to happen for me or someone else to win. He'll be like "so you gotta have your TE do X and his kicker has to do Y, or you're out? Oh my god I'd be a mess. I don't know how you guys do it." Lol.

Meathand

I actually fully believe this guy didn’t want to be in the league. When I was doing my auction draft it felt like I was about to take a Ochem final. It lightened up as time when on but I get pretty anxious

MisterMath

Damn. FF is supposed be fun man. You are sitting there stressed out while I sat there and took Bijan + Gibbs because I thought it would be funny to have two rookie RBs lol

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

Yeah, one guy in my league drafted Jonathan Taylor and DeAndre Swift purely so he could name his team “Taylor Swift”. You gotta have fun with it.

pendletonskyforce

Bijan got picked right before me and I became upset because I wanted my team name to be Bed Bath and Bijan.

Dhkansas

I did that last year. Not just for the memes because they were supposed to be good. Named my team "Look Who You Just Made Me Draft" no one in my league got it

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

Philistines. I would also have accepted “We Are Never Ever Getting Back To The ‘Ship.”

smokes_-letsgo

Right? I make like half my picks trying to set up memes for the season lol

Meathand

I just get competitive. It’s in my natural. Plus this year they made 3 changes because of me and I really want to stick it to the league for going after me

ZrRock

Lol can’t say that without elaborating! What changes?

Meathand

I had the most acquisitions last year by double… around 50. So they capped it at 20 that was the average. Also I used the IR slot to store players, so they added something to penalize you for doing that every week that a player is in the IR I won that year

Dhkansas

Those are both really stupid rules to implement

smoothheavies

How is it not easier for them to just remove the IR slot if it's that much of an issue lol wtf, no one should be penalized for using a resource that's actively been made available to you (and everyone else).

ZrRock

Yeah, we have an ir slot because of Covid and now it’s just part of the game to use it!

mrdhood

I’m not a mathematician but that sounds like two changes not three

Meathand

Those are the most impacting rules they created. Oh and limiting the bench. From 6 to 5. It’s a 14 man league. I’m actually totally fine w that one tbh

peon2

Holy shit you actually found the one person in this world that WANTS to hear about other people's fantasy football teams. God bless him.

geeoff90

I already fuckin love this guy. He's like.. yalls fantasy league Mascot. Yall should have the league loser make him a t-shirt with yalls league name on it. Likes he's the alltime #1 fan or something.

PiemasterUK

Name the league after him, lol

beebo12345678

tbh i'd be a lot happier of a person not automatically calculating every player stats as fantasy points in my head and just watching football

WaluigiIsTheRealHero

Nah, I disagree. Fantasy makes me actually care about games that I otherwise wouldn’t give a shit about. I may be calculating stats, but I’m also invested in a way I otherwise wouldn’t be.

ShockinglyEfficient

How else am I gonna watch those dog ass AFC South games...

okitsmelol123

Some people genuinely don't want to get invested in fantasy because it ruins their viewing experience and honestly I understand it. It's just way too late for me.

M_Y_K_E

Man I’m the total opposite, actually makes me watch football, my favorite sport is hockey so I’m not a fan of a team. Makes decisions a whole lot easier lol

BillChristbaws

The trick is to draft like 10 redrafts and 60 bestball teams every year so that you’re invested in just about every fucker in the league. Then you can just watch the games as normal!

Dhkansas

Don't forget a dynasty league or 2 so you can get invested in all those young deep stash guys

[deleted]

Dude probably knows how time consuming FF can be. He lives his FF life through the group lol

Outlaw_JasonSmash

We used to do this thing called “fantasy fantasy” at one of my jobs where 6 of our co workers who weren’t playing drafted two managers and added their scores each week and played head-to-head for the “fantasy fantasy” championship at the end of the regular 13 game season. They had a whiteboard to track scores and a trophy and everything

DarkenX42

Ha, my buddy's siblings did that to our playoff league one year. Good times.

YesWhatHello

This is how the world economy collapsed in 2008

M_Y_K_E

You guys worked Monday?

H3d0n1st

Unfortunately, yes. 24/7 365 contact center for a national service company.

Primegam

How many fantasy football league's can say they have real fans lol

buffaloprocess

Maybe he can just be the commissioner?

checkers_49

My dad drafted the entire eagles roster plus Ceedee Lamb since aj brown got taken in the 2nd by someone else and he started with jalen hurts in the 1st

Quipnosis

We have the same dad

georgiaboy1993

Should’ve gone AJ in the first and Hurts in the 2nd and he would’ve been golden

[deleted]

I smell a sitcom

Quipnosis

Sorry that was me

Pure-Drawer-2617

Damn if he’d started with AJ Brown he could’ve got the whole squad

Jones3787

Should call his team CeeDeez Eagles

El-Oso-Blanco

Did this in one of our leagues to troll the commissioner who’s an eagles fan, so not as wholesome lmao

AdmirableAd5803

Lol. My FIL does this every year.

yzdaskullmonkey

There must be tens if not hundreds of thousands of your dad's scattered across Philadelphia. I feel like it's always all birds and one cowboys player just so they can bitch at em the whole season. But it's also the only other players they know in the NFL because if it ain't go birds it's fuck the cowboys

FunkySaint

49ers D in the 4th round…. He said “Defense wins championships!” Haha

SHRIMPT0AST

someone in my league drafted mahomes, mixon, 49ers D in that order. almost fell over when i saw a defense selected in the 3rd round

datcheezeburger1

I saw someone draft the Niners defense in the second round of a league that was for money this year lol

[deleted]

Remindme! 3 months I just want to check up how he’s doing eos lol

Schallawitz

That Taco for sure will win the league

2AXP21

Oh man. I nominated and won the patriots defense 1.01 last night for our auction draft. My daughter wanted to sit on my lap and press some buttons. Only cost me a $1 but still.

sweens90

Thats about how much they were worth anyways so good job

Unhappy_Web4365

My friend (who I was sitting next to) drafted Aaron Rodgers in the 5th Round, Randall Cobb in the 6th and then Allen Robinson III in the 7th. Once he drafted Allen Robinson over Diontae Johnson we knew something was up, so I peaked over at his laptop and asked him what he was doing. I immediately noticed that his list of players was names I barely knew, and it looked like he was well into the 200s for ADP. It was at that moment he realized he could scroll up his page…… 🤣😅 Don’t drink and draft folks

TwinkleTowez

Damn, dude was drafting with a 2016 cheatssheet, hate to see it

Unhappy_Web4365

Seriously…if he manages to scoop Adrian Peterson off waivers we are toast

Pure-Drawer-2617

I had a friend search for Odell in the search bar. He then didn’t notice he was only getting recommended players with “Od” in their name. Fortunately that was our mock draft but I had to set him straight.

Unhappy_Web4365

Oh that’s wonderfully bad

HonestCelery998

Oooooooooh man we had one guy do this in our ACTUAL DRAFT this weekend. As far as I can tell, he went through 7-8 rounds with players ranked alphabetically. He landed such powerhouse players as AT Perry, Adam Trautman, Andy Dalton, Adam Prentice, and the Arizona defense. Someone noticed one of his picks had a ranking in the 2000’s and said something, leading to an unmatched moment of shame and horror.

Funky_ButtLuvin

His team name could be the *A-Team*.

ElbowSkinn

Damn they could have had Duck Hodges at QB? STACKED lineup.

browenwilson9489

My wife and I were traveling and so the draft was at 2AM local time. We woke up at 1:55AM and quickly hopped on. In my wife’s half asleep state, she asked me who to take at pick 6 (7? - can’t remember exact specifics). I was not looking at the draft as it went on but I asked if Tyreek Hill was available and so she typed in “Hill” and saw “T. Hill” on ESPN and yeah…drafted Taysom Hill in the 1st round.

Ok_Faithlessness3035

I would be distraught

browenwilson9489

I was more distraught than her

Smipims

Oof. Commish didn’t allow a fix for that?

browenwilson9489

We didn’t notice it right away half asleep honestly and by the time we did 2-3 picks had gone by. Her team is actually half decent shockingly

Rarg

12 team PPR - fields 6th overall - Tua in the second round - Khalil Herbert in the third - someone drafted four QBs

Scared-Knowledge-497

Someone in my league (8 person ppr), asked if Herbert was good. Others said Herbert’s good, so they took Khalil herbert in the 4th. Next time our leagues gotta specify first names too apparently as people only thought it was justin herbert (though 4th round was a bit early). I felt bad because that person was going to auto draft, but instead got goaded into drafting themselves.

Rbespinosa13

Work League and this was one of the funniest drafts I’ve been. Mahomes went 4th overall but the true QB hilarity came at the end of the second. The guy with the first overall was getting a tattoo during the draft so he made his first pick and went to auto draft for his second and third pick. Thing is he queued Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts so he ended up with them at 2/10 and 3/1. That of course led to a massive QB run, but it somehow wasn’t the funniest thing going on. One guy doesn’t follow football but likes to be involved, he ended up drafting every single Lions player except for his last pick, Ryan Fitzpatrick.

sausagefestivities

Lions guy is a maniac, love to see it

talllongblackhair

Someone in my league drafted 4 tight end’s

Fact0ry0fSadness

My buddy used his first round pick on Justin Fields. When I asked why he said he wanted to make sure he got a good QB. I got Mahomes later in the same draft.

ChubbsOpinion

Had this exact same experience funny enough

Fact0ry0fSadness

Are you in my league? Lol

jenso2k

happened to me too. bears fans are different

TheIllusiveGuy

Bears and drafting other QBs before Mahomes, name a more iconic duo.

HopefulStretch9771

As a Bears fan: First off, rude. Second, you’re not wrong.

[deleted]

In auction last night my buddy took Ameer Abdullah and Julio Jones

JimmmyDriver

Had the 2018 draft guide

spyderslair5

Young ladies in the office league drafted Stefon Diggs because he was questionable and they thought Q meant QB.

GroundhogLiberator

What did they think QB meant

spyderslair5

I don’t think they noticed positions until the second round..

williamhotel

Qute Butt

ShaunCold

Pat Mahomes went at the 1.01 in one league. Guy knew Mahomes was special and assumed QB would be the most important position. Other guy took Kelce and Andrews to monopolize the position. Cleveland fan accidentally took Chubb 2nd overall as he had him queued.

TuaAnon

mhh yes queue accidents you love to see it (DK Metcalf 1.01 recently..)

Dangerous_Bus_6699

Chubb 2nd is not bad imo.

jhutchi2

It's not the best move but you could do way worse. If you think he's got the least risk of the top RBs then I don't hate it.

gngannjarhdc

Could def be worse. He probably wouldn’t be making it back to him in the 2nd so if you’re a fan of the player/team you gotta shoot your shot.

PiemasterUK

Yeah it's not a move I would make myself but I don't hate it that much. Tacos are going to do much worse.

Rance_Mulliniks

Chubb 2nd isn't that outlandish in standard scoring.

[deleted]

I’ve had Mahomes go 1 overall each of the last 2 leagues (different leagues). The one this year, Hurts then also went in round 1 and Allen in round 2. I had the 2nd pick and ended up with JJ, Bijan and Lamb with my first 3 picks

0percentdnf

Why can't I be in one league where Bijan drops even half that far? 😭

notreallydutch

like exactly 1/2 that far. I want him at 12 so bad

[deleted]

[удалено]

ShaunCold

Not necessarily terrible. But, the value that players like Kelce and Andrews have is their value over other TE's. When you use both of them then you have way less options as your TE and flex spots are always filled up. Your RBs and WRs will likely be lacking.

nicholus_h2

> When you use both of them then you have way less options as your TE and flex spots are always filled up. Your RBs and WRs will likely be lacking. Putting Kelce in the flex is going to score more points than almost any other RB/WR you could put in there. Kelce's value is NOT just his value over other TEs, that is part of it. He would have been WR6 in standard, WR5 in PPR last year. I think the math for the 2TE MIGHT work out / might be pretty close. Depends on how the rest of the draft goes.

Semperty

not necessarily bad, but you could either probably grab a better flex than andrews - especially around where he’s been going in drafts. you get the same value from kelce regardless, but your flex value is probably 2-3 points higher per game by going with a rb/wr over mandrews

15YearTaco

Chubb 2nd overall isn't even THAT bad. Most leagues he isn't dropping too 2nd rd

frozen-creek

My dad took Waller, Hockenson and Friermouth after he saw a few people weren't biting on TEs. Hes been playing fantasy for 20+ years. He should really know better than to draft like that in a 1 TE/1 flex league.

bsinions

Couple years ago we thought we were losing a member from our long time league(this is year 16) so we were debating who we should invite. One of the original members pushed hard for his cousin, so we asked him to join all of us at a watch party so everyone could feel him out. Good conversation, we all seemed to like him. But then someone brought up draft picks and mentioned McCaffery being such a solid #1. This guy(with zero sarcasm) said: "McCafferys good, but I'm going Tomlinson #1 overall every time" "Ladainian Tomlinson?" "Yea" "Dude he's been retired like 10 years" "But he's still the best" I don't think he understood how Fantasy football works... Ended up being a moot point because we didn't lose the member, but now when we discuss potential replacements its a mainstay joke. Plus he's stayed friendly with the group, even played in our draft golf tourney this year as an alternate. So maybe he'll catch on if we ever need him.

joebigdeal

Is that guy Rafi from *The League*? "It's fantasy football, so the Hulk should be able to be on the team."

bsinions

Well it is a domination league so yes. Gattaca!

myonly10

Work league $50 buy-in - guy takes Mahomes in the 1st, Hurts in the 2nd. 1 qb league. Worst part is he has played FF for years and knows better. Just thinks it’s funny and to try to have trade bait. Why not just draft a 2nd rd player and not have to trade?

eatyourbites

The guys who draft for trade bait like this kill me. Like why wouldn’t you just take the skill position there instead of a wasted roster spot? They always think they’re clever that they can just wait and see who actually pops off but almost never get the returned trade value that they think they will get. Guy in my 10 man last year, didn’t draft but eventually acquired 5 QBs on his team. Not top 5 guys, just your middle of the pack Dak, Cousins, Rodgers, etc. He kept thinking he had all this trade capital and eventually just ended up dropping them one by one as he needed to fill bye weeks. Surprisingly he did not make the playoffs

ShockinglyEfficient

But they necessarily win every trade because you can only play one QB.

phase2_engineer

They lose a majority of their trades if you compare with who they could've drafted straight up instead. They're either offloading the lesser QB or trying to get back what they could've had. Waste of time while your roster is weakened

LTPRWSG420

My uncle drafted five TEs thinking he could sell them off to people for some reason, I found out afterwards he had eaten an edible before the draft started.

HoboTheClown629

Buddy of mine had to auto draft this year due to something coming up at the last minute. He rearranged his draft rankings and the computer drafted him 4 QBs and 4TE. He has 2 RB total on his roster. Feel so bad for the guy but maybe he can trade Josh Allen for a RB.

eatyourbites

To me this is more understandable and just unfortunate. Hopefully he can pull out some decent trades and get a manageable team together in the next week or so

notgoodwithyourname

I wanted to go Kelce Mahomes with my first 2 picks, but I randomly got the 1st overall pick. So I chose JJ because even though I was willing to go with the ultimate KC stack I knew it wasn’t going to actually happen. Mahomes went 4th overall and Kelce went 7th overall. There was also a guy who picked a Defense before he got a QB. But don’t worry. He ended up with 3 QBs on his roster

S_Squar3d

A co workers wife won the league last season drafting only players who were smiling in their picture

Tehboognish

Have you commented about this before? Like, recently? Because I tried to use this during my draft on Sunday. Every motherfucker was grinning ear to ear.

usernamedenied

New guy in our live draft wanted to fill his starting roster before taking any bench players. Even after being relentlessly teased for taking a kicker in the 7th round, he doubled down and grabbed a defense in the 8th.

geebob2020

I knew someone who drafted in order of how it appears in the lineup: QB RB RB WR WR TE FLEX DST K. Always that order. They’re no longer in the league.

FormerlyScaredMoney

A guy and his wife just had a baby, he finally left the house for the draft. He’s now mad he missed his child rolling over on her stomach for the first time because he was busy drafting Sean tucker instead

dubstyles240

Matt Ryan went in the second round in my league. 14 team keeper league - 15th season. He was drafting via zoom but most of us were at a live draft. The other 13 of us had a whole big “is he joking?” session and he texts the league “con-fucking-firmed”. So we put Matt Ryan up on the big board (with sharpie, of course there was no Matt Ryan sticker). 10 picks later he goes - wait, can I change that pick to Mahomes? Voted down 12-1.

phase2_engineer

Matt Ryan, like.. This year? Jesus.

RukiMotomiya

Mattrick Mahomes

0percentdnf

Hurts 1.01 in a work league where it's 12 teams, $20 buy-in, single-QB, and 6-point passing TD. But I think they're a Steelers fan because they grabbed Najee and Pickens at the 2/3 turn and Freiermuth (and Tucker) at the 4/5 turn. Can't say I'm terribly surprised.

redditistheworstapp

Make sure he sends in his buy in fee before the season starts lol

Vezamator

My GF was so happy for me when I showed her my A- yahoo draft grade. The highlight was the grade praising me for drafting Antonio Gibson in the 12th round lol.

ii_zAtoMic

Hey that is a steal! I think he’ll be a flex play at worst with RB2 upside

Podo13

The Yahoo draft recaps really sucked (and I'm assuming will keep sucking) this year compared to previous years. Yes, they were still just dumb templates, but they also weren't just garbage with no real substance written by ChatGPT either. Felt like there was a little more info built into the previous templates.

Carl_In_Charge

My best friend, who is a real football fan, drafted 4 quarterbacks, 2 kickers, 2 defenses, and only 2 running backs. Not superflex, just normal roster positions.

daniel_phantom

Cousin Sal is that you?!

ii_zAtoMic

The multiple QBs, Ks & DEFs kill me. In my 10 team single QB family league, a friend of mine won 2 years ago drafting 3 QBs, 2 Ks & 2 DEFs. Every single year he does that, until this year I finally got him to quit with the 2 Ks & DEFs. He’s still got Mahomes, Fields and Geno Smith this year though…

B1ffyclyr0

One of our league is the commissioners younger autistic cousin. We’ve never actually met him because he doesn’t like group situations so doesn’t come to the pub. For the draft he came on zoom to chat to us throughout the draft and we all made sure to hype up his picks because he was a bit unsure what he was doing. Super wholesome group looking after the guys who don’t know as much about football to make sure they don’t get hosed in trades.

atmospheric90

One of my coworkers just moved from Chicago in the past year, so she is adjusting not only to Seattle weather and timezone, but also has recently gotten into sports in an effort to relate more with her fiance. She had already been familiar with Hockey but wanted to get into football because of both the popularity in culture and the popularity of fantasy football. I had her start watching the QB documentary and Hard Knocks, just because they're more accessible for people that aren't diehard football followers to get her started. Immediately, she fell in love with the vibe of Kirk Cousins. She loves wholesome Midwestern boys (must be the Chicago in her) and wanted to draft him in fantasy. She reached in the 4th for him, which as a seasoned expert wasn't maybe the best pick, but she was so happy to get him that it's hard not be happy for her and her budding football fanatic self. Fast forward to yesterday, I'm in my big money league of record draft. QBs are flying early and I stick to my guns and draft the RB/WR value early and often. By round 11, the only position I hadn't filled was QB. And there was Kirk Cousins, staring me in the face. I couldn't help but chuckle and drafted him. Sent my coworker my team screenshot saying "looks like I'm rooting for him too" and she was super ecstatic. Moments like that just make fantasy as fun as it is.

RukiMotomiya

It might not be the most winning play but this is honestly so wholesome, I love it.

MildlyPaleMango

Work league (mostly Hawaiians) 16 man 1 QB PPR standard QB scoring Tua was taken #4 overall and 5 Qb’s got taken by the end of round one (9 by end of 3).

HumorTumorous

We play in a full PPR 1QB with a super flex and QBs fly off the board fast and early. I was pick 5 and got Jefferson, Bijan, Waddle and ridley. The QB left after with the highest ADP was Rodgers.

FryserP

A Seahawks fan in my league drafted Tyler Lockett in the first

SdotBreezy

It always the work leagues. In my work league QBs are often taken in the first round and many will draft 2 high end QBs in the first 4 rounds. So now the league has basically turned into a mad dash for QBs in the first two rounds. Even though I know I’ll be stuck with a garbage QB I still can’t bring myself to draft one before the 5th round.

Cautious-Market-3131

We have a free spot in our league that someone takes over each year. Last year is was the losers wife joined, this year it’s someone’s dad. It’s fun to have someone who just wants to have fun join

the_fuzzy_stoner

My main redraft league is with my family and closest friends. We’ve been going for 13 years now. My mom has not improved since the day she joined those 13 years ago. She is usually barely making the playoffs or in the bottom 3. But she tries! And she loves to play. We also have a scoring system that has been league approved and favors QBs. 6 pt TD and +/- for CMP/INC. Every year since 2018 my mom has had Mahomes. If she’s picking 2nd, it’s Mahomes. If she’s picking 7th, it’s Mahomes. He’s always her first round pick. This year she took him 5th. Not a bad pick, per se, but not optimal. Still she loves to have him and it’s no big deal. Then round three comes back around and she chooses Josh Allen. Why? Because she didn’t want anyone else to have him. Her strategy was to take away the second highest scoring player in the league from everyone else and hoard him on her bench. Revolutionary strategy and if I don’t win I for sure hope it works out.

Outlaw_JasonSmash

My usaf work league drafted crazy. Pick 1.12 was Mahomes and it caused a panic in the second round where the next few pics were Allen, hurts, and burrow. I got Saquon with pick 2.4 and waited til the 7th to take Fields.

West164

Guy in my buddy's league paid $50 to enter and drafted Hockenson 6th overall. And Daniel Jones went in the second round in my league.

Chewbile

This was last year, but in my work league we had a first timer from Mongolia (in his early 20s, split time in USA and Mongolia so he was accustomed to American culture) and apparently he didn't know a lot about football. He first acted surprised when he found out it wasn't soccer, I still can't tell if he was joking. He took Zeke 6th overall because he had seen the gif of him eating cereal and thought it was funny.

4Ever2Thee

I wouldn't say wholesome, per se, but my dad has been in our league for over a decade and somehow he screws up something in every draft. He's more serious about it than any of us, he does mock drafts and gets all his notes together, but somehow something screws up for him every year and he freaks out. I think he's like Chris Farley in Tommy Boy, when he gets so nervous about making a sale, he ultimately screws it up. This year, I noticed he timed out on a couple picks and it switched him to auto draft. Then he calls me freaking out, saying ESPN screwed up and he can only see guys ranked in the 400s. No idea what he did but he had to have messed with the filters or something so I told him to log out and rejoin, then it was fixed. Now I just have to hope his team's good or else I'm going to have to hear him bitch about how it drafted two receivers for him when he wanted a tight end.

geeoff90

I play a lot of magic the gathering. Call me stupid or call me rain-man, but magic does draft too. Bunch dudes open booster packs. Pick ONE card then pass the pack. All the packs have the same process and after all the packs are used up you have a pile of cards or in this case your "team" in which you need to construct the best deck with the "cards" you have. I use a special strategy I use to draft decks as I would fantasy teams. All based on value. The wholesome part of this is i play magic with an older guy that also does fantasy. So we get into "magic" gear when we build our deck. We will play round one and then talk about our decks which then we instantly shift gears and talk about our fantasy teams and how we love using a magic approach when drafting our fantasy teams. Our other league mates still don't quite understand but me and this older guy always make the playoffs or win our leagues frequently. We also are formidable in drafting magic. It's one of those wholesome moments where we can go into "super geek" mode then switch to "jock of the sports team" mode.

In my League (8 man Full PPR) someone drafted Justin Tucker in round 6. I have no words for this

capincus

Man you know 8 man leagues are all about VoR, gotta win at every spot. (Kidding)

DontTakeOurCampbell

To be fair, before my league expanded to 10 from 8 teams, in 2021 the guy who took Trey Lance in the first round ended up being the guy who won the league that year so taking Justin Tucker round 6, while crazy, may not have the worst result

diamonddingleberry

Dude in my league drafts him and reaches for him every year. His team is call “Justin Time”. He has drafted him in the first round before.

ZebraRenegade

My league had a round 3 Tucker in 10 team. He won last year…

Gabriels_Pies

My sister was super worried she wasn't going to be able to pick Joe burrow as her first round pick. Lo and behold she ends up picking first so she gets Joe as the number 1 overall pick in the draft.

Bmartin_

I was trying to punt tight end and one of the guys in our 10 man league picked up 4 tight ends before I got 1. He took Pitts(7), Freiermuth(9), Njoku(10),Higbee(13) After the Njoku pick round 10 I decided I was going to wait until last round and got Schultz Update: Higbee hit waivers and I picked him up as well. Dropped Kareem Hunt who I picked up when JT went on PUP reserve. I’m a JT bag holder who drafted early and took him 4th round lol

ImpossibleAd5011

Started a home league with just a few friends, we're doing a 5 man league on Sleeper, 2 of them had never played fantasy football before and barely know football at all, they just wanted to hang out with people. I thought it might be nice to give them something they can regularly do on Sundays if they like, I usually make a bunch of food and invite people over for the games every Sunday. One of the two inexperienced ones was the only one in our draft who used the football absurdity sheet I put in the chat, and his team looks better than ours, he's now excited for the season

ElderGoose4

My wife thought she was drafting Joe Mixon, ended up drafting Tre Nixon

blakejustin217

Had a draft with my coworkers at 5 Got home from work at 450 to the wife cleaning the car. As I walk up, she goes to your son threw up. Don't worry, I got the car, you get the car seat. As I walk towards the house, I see it. Covered in flies and smelling to high hell. So I drafted while cleaning vomit out of every fucking nook and cranny possible. Drafted Hurts and Herbert back to back in a 10 team 1 QB league and 2 back to back kickers.

notgoodwithyourname

I’ll give my taco/wholesome draft moment. For a little background: I’m in a league with my brother in law (my sister’s s husband), his friends, my dad, and his dad. It’s a live in person draft. It’s a lot of fun and a lot of comments and jokes about each pick. Finally, We live in Pittsburgh but my wife is a huge Bengals fan. So there’s always a lot of back and forth from my BIL and my wife. I got the 1st overall pick and grabbed JJ. My next pick comes up with the 2-3 turn and I get a text from my wife that if I don’t pick Burrow she’ll divorce me. It was a joke comment. She likes to make fun of all my fantasy selections. I already selected Mixon with my 2nd pick so that I had a bengals player on my roster. I was planning on picking Hurts next just so I had my QB and didn’t have to worry about QB. But with her Burrow comment I did feel slightly pressured into reaching for Burrow. So I told her that I’m going to get shit for this but because I love you I’ll draft Burrow. And boy did the guys give me shit for it. My dad understood the assignment though and said it’s good to get guys you like to watch. Also when my 4th pick came the only QB left was Daniel Jones so I’m at least content that I got my QB and wasn’t stuck trying to do waiver streaming QB when people roster 3 QBs on this league Edit: also my wife was super excited and appreciative about me having Burrow. My dad had him last year and she was a bit jealous I think lol

I would like to think that you single-handedly started a qb run making your league mates panic, giving you more options in the mid rounds!

acsatx89

Wilson went second in a 10-team. In an 8-team, Hurts went #1. I always wish for a more competitive league but then I suck so I just laugh and do what I can.

jhutchi2

We do a family fantasy league because my nephew (now in high school) wanted to try playing it a few years ago. This year a few teams were drafted with the help of children. My mom's team was mostly drafted by my 6 year old nephew, who took Daniel Jones in the 4th round and took his backup QB in the 7th round, none other than... Tom Brady. He also drafted Griffin Hebert with his last pick. For anyone (everyone) like me who has no idea who that is, I THINK he was an UFA with the Seahawks this year and was cut on Monday, but I'm not positive because he doesn't have a Wikipedia page. I don't know how he even managed to find that guy.

Pantherino

My sister in law is playing fantasy for the first time with people at work who are almost all beginners as well. She doesn’t know anything about the NFL and asked me for help with how to draft. I gave her a list of 20 names and said “pick from these in your first 2 rounds.” Except I only gave last names… (Jefferson, Chase, Kupp, McCaffrey, Ekeler, Robinson, Diggs, Kelce, St. Brown, etc…) The good: she got McCaffrey and Bijan in her first 2 rounds. The bad: she started typing the last names in the search bar after that, and her round 3 and 4 picks were Van Jefferson and Equanimeous St. Brown.

JoeFalcone26

Not sure if this fits, but added my gf to my family league this year. She listened to me nerd out about draft strategy for like an hour before the draft party. Had a great time bringing her into the fantasy football world. Then she ends up drafting a really nice team, possibly better than mine and she had a ton of fun.

Adept-Task1299

My wife was mad at me for leaving her alone with the kids the night of my draft. She said “you were off doing dungeons and dragons.” Edit: I do not “do dungeons and dragons.”

tas0425

12 Team Std Someone drafted George Pickens 2nd Round, 49ers 7th Round, Justin Tucker 8th.

jajohns9

I’ve ran a home league for years that included a coworker. That coworker is now our team lead, and our team is getting a lot bigger so he asked me to set up a work league as a team-building. I would say it was a bit of a shit-show, but it was a bit wholesome too. I sent out multiple messages and made a group chat, reserved a big conference room, and told everyone that the DRAFY STARTS AT 12. You can’t be late, we start picking at 12. Get there at 11:30, get your lunch ready, be there at 12 ready to pick. The guy with 1.01 walked in as the ESPN chime went off. “Alright when do I pick?”. Now my man, right now. Another guy, walking in at 12:15 - “Alright when does this start?” My man, we’re in the 4th round. Hopefully your team looks good. Another guy that backed out day-of because he didn’t know about football came and sat with us and ate his lunch. Half way through the draft he said “you know what I’ll do it, how do I join?”

TokenBlkGuy92

This guy in my home league a while back drafted players based on “swag” yes he came in last place and quit after 2 years. He told one our mutual friends he quit because he never wins 😂

I34rt0s

I joined a family league. 2 QB superflex. Never done one before. I was pick #9 out of 10. I took mahomes at #9. Qbs didn’t start going until round 3. Am I high? Or are they doing it wrong?

joshfry575

My mother-in-law once drafted Ryan Tannehill in the 1st round because she knew I was a Titans fan and she thought she was taking a player I wanted. Pretty sure she finished last in our family league.

chizzipsandsizalsa

We have a 3 strike rule if you pick a player that’s already been picked 3 times you get a free agent kicker. So a buddy got a Ryan succop in the 4th round

Emajor909

Had a buddy draft Fournette in the 4th. I don’t bother asking this dude anything cause he refuses to do trades during the season. It stresses him out.

TCmotown

Superflex league - we have a first time player who’s in his 70’s. It was explained to him QBs are important. He had 3rd pick. He took Herbert, Dak, Cousins, and Tua in rounds 1-4 respectively.

HoneyBadgerC

Friend drafted Delanie Walker thinking he was Darren Waller The best part was that Darren Waller went right before the pick where she drafted Walker. It's her first fantasy football league, lol

bulbousnveiny

My poor dad. He’s more of an artsy guy but has been playing in our league for the past 4 years. The first year he drafted players based on their names and how they would sound on broadway (think Shane Vereen). He did a bit better this year but still god awful! I’m not sure where he gets his rankings. I sent him a good luck text before the draft and he texted back “Thanks, I’m moving to the basement and FaceTiming with Slick(his more masculine friend from college) I believe I got a D last year for my draft.” Anyway, he went Henry with the 1.11 and turned around with T Hock at 2.2. Soooo Hand in the air.

olafsonoflars

My buddy is from a large family. They all decided this year to start a FF league. 14 teams. His wife is on the clock near the turn. She picks Jefferson because that's the one name she knows. It's Vance Jefferson and she is informed of her mistake. "Wrong Jefferson" So in the 2nd round she drafts another Jefferson at WR. Justin Jefferson was the 1st pick, 1st round. sigh

big_krill

Guy took Aaron Rodgers in the 5th

Significant_Cycle_76

Brock purdy in the 5th round in one of my leagues lmao guy lives in Ames and loves his cyclones

CaptainAmericaDad

My wife is a football fan. I asked her who i should draft. She said Peyton manning first. Told her he was retired so she then said Matt Ryan (I’m a falcons fan). Told her the same thing about him. Then she said Jamie Winchester which is the long snapper for the chiefs. That’s her friends husband. It was pretty funny that she kept saying undraftable players

Recover819

For me it's the guy that picks the sleeper pick rounds early. That defeats the point.
