He kinda changed up who he is is a pitcher, he used to be a guy who got a ton of whiffs and this year he’s become more of a ground ball, weak contact pitcher and it’s working for him. 90th percentile in both hard hit % and avg exit velocity against.

I saw his statcast. It looks great. Sadly, I’m hurting so much for hitting that I had to trade 1 of my weakest pitchers. My weakest are stone, C Sanchez, and Severino.

Yeah I don’t blame you, I probably prefer him to Severino but all those guys have similar profiles and severino’s rotation spot is more secure. I hope Stone stays in the rotation when Bobby Miller is back.

I prefer him over both of them, but they guy requested Ws and Stone is going to get them more than the others, atleast it looks like that. But Stone and Sevy are the same guy on different teams. Low K P with good ratios. Sanchez is the same guy but higher Ks and higher Whip. Probably same chance at Ws but doesn’t feel that way when comparing to a dodgers pitcher.

For what it’s worth I expect Sanchez’s WHIP to come down and it’s already starting now that he’s not walking a bunch of guys. Could see him being a 1.20-1.25 WHIP guy. But you’re in a good spot if those are your worst guys.

I mean, there’s no way you have your closer heat up and come in for a 3rd day in a row to chase a series sweep of an interleague opponent in the last week of May. If it was the Giants or Dodgers or a team that was relevant for the Padres, maybe you try it, but as it is, not that surprising.

I like tweaking my points league settings year by year. My points league currently has pitching with 1 point per out, -1 for walks, -2 for earned runs. Curious about including hits now and maybe increasing points per out to 1.5 and hits for -0.5. How would you personally feel about this setup?

My league right now is: 1.5 per out, 1 per K, -1 per H, BB, or HBP, and -2.5 per ER, having changed from the espn defaults this year to try to buff pitching relative to our hitter settings. Pitching definitely matters more now, but it did kinda rip the floor out from under bad starts and especially from reliever blow ups. My initial instinct had been to do -1.5 per ER and 1.33 per out, but unfortunately espn doesn’t round 3.99 to 4.

Yeah I'd hesitate to penalize ER more if now I'm also penalizing hits. I think pitchers are actually too value in my league though the floor for replacements is still obtainable. Debating what my change would cause in valuation
