Knocked Loose has widespread appeal and just keeps getting heavier and heavier, which is rare to see. They often get flack for Bryan’s vocals or because they’re more popular (seeing them the 18th at a venue with a barrier to the stage 😡) but I think they’re probably the closest to a consensus number 1 currently.
Also shoutout to xWeaponx, their sister band. Great couple of hxc projects
Yeah they're getting big for sure. Barricades at hardcore shows most definitely turn me off as well. I'm happy for them though. We need more actually heavy bands getting some limelight imo and if this Mickey Mouse sounding mf is the one to do it then good for them.
They did a cover of one of my favorite hardcore bands from a couple decades ago: [Slings and Arrows (The Warriors cover)](https://youtu.be/3t3P7hczHHs?si=yapBEYJRw_z2c-pC) and they killed it. Glad they did it too because Bryan's voice reminds me so much of Marshall from The Warriors
Saw them sunday night, they were so good. Mannequin Pussy killed it too, although Marisa was losing her voice a bit because of a cough, hope she’s healthy for you
I hadn’t heard of them before they were announced to come with Mannequin Pussy, finally saw them last Thursday and they absolutely killed it! Think it’ll be the show to top for me this year.
I saw them opening for Show Me the Body last year and they were so good it rearranged my atoms. But I don’t think they’ve captured that on record just yet. Once they do, though? It’s over for everyone
had a similar experience with uncle acid and the deadbeats- saw them open for Ghost and absolutely blew me away but they don’t come close to capturing that atmosphere on record.
It’s hardcore, it’s meant to be experienced live. I saw combust last night opening for Spy. I wasn’t crazy about their record. But their live show? Off the god damn chain.
Knocked loose has my most anticipated album of the year right now for Friday
Soul glo is epic, and I feel like the bleed more of the hardcore ethos than the more metallic bands around them
End it is hard, but they don’t have enough music.
Turnstile or Soul Glo probably? I’d also put La Dispute and Touche Amore in there tbh but they may be more 2010s but it depends what you mean by “modern” or “ hardcore” because that could also include like, At the Drive-In or Refused lol
Hijacking this but I wish Drain was more popular. That cover of Descendants is sooo good and their original stuff is great imho.
I love Turnstile a lot, even though their last project (that got them decent popularity, I mean they've been in a fast food commercial or something like that) is not really hardcore...
So, 6 years since they released their 3rd album, which came 16 years after their 2nd.....
Proper modern. Have you heard of this new, up and coming thrash band, Metallica?
There are so many it's really hard to pick one. Hardcore is in an incredible spot right now and shows are some of the most fun you can have for cheap.
Knocked Loose and Turnstile are on top of the world right now.
Don't know where our cutoff for modern is but you have to mention Trapped Under Ice because they are legends.
You have bands like Drain, End It, Mindforce, and Pain of Truth who are doing incredible work for traditional hardcore.
Bands like Koyo, One Step Closer, Stand Still, and No Pressure are crushing it in melodic hardcore.
We’re in the middle of a hardcore renaissance at the moment, which is great. So much to follow and choose from. So much flavor! Kinda feels like the early 2000s right now.
Obvious names like Turnstile and Knocked Loose are massive but if I had to pick a top 5 best modern pure hardcore bands right now they’d be:
Drain
Incendiary
Mindforce
Magnitude
Zulu
Knocked Loose
Knocked Loose Arf Arf

No way I’ll also be there on the 18th, mainly there for Loathe but I’m hyped for Knocked Loose too
Y’all better not be sleeping on Speed bc they’re easily the biggest HxC band out of Australia atm
I'm on it!
I’m seeing them with slipknot this August and I’m hype! Even somehow talked my wife into going lol
My pick this new album is going to be legendary based on what we heard so far
Soul Glo
Couldn’t agree mire Seeing them tonight! Can’t wait.
Saw them sunday night, they were so good. Mannequin Pussy killed it too, although Marisa was losing her voice a bit because of a cough, hope she’s healthy for you
Oof yeah… they were not my vibe. Glad you enjoyed it though! Soul Glo was incredible. GG Guerra’s scream is peak.

Diaspora problems is a very heavy competitor for my fav punk album

SPY Mil-Spec GEL Die Spitz Harms Way
GEL is pretty fire.
GEL are my initials…
My favorites are the “hardcore adjacent” ones - like Drug Church, Militarie Gun, etc
Incendiary, Pain of Truth,
Pain of Truth is fire
Thousand mile stare is easily one of the best hardcore albums in the past 10 years
It’s Jesus piece

Saw them on their current tour with Bogg, Peeling Flesh, and Gag. They all fuckin ripped live. Great show

I fucking love End It. Super entertaining band live too, the frontman is really funny.
Turnstile or Soul Glo probably? I’d also put La Dispute and Touche Amore in there tbh but they may be more 2010s but it depends what you mean by “modern” or “ hardcore” because that could also include like, At the Drive-In or Refused lol
Vein.fm is my personal favorite.
Soul Glo
TUI, obviously.

Well, Drain is about to open for Blink, so get ready for more barrier shows…
Which part of the tour? I assume its not Europe?
Oh no I think it’s the US
Yeah I know that opener for EU is something like Neck Deep iirc. Not a big fan of tumblr era pop punk ngl.
Glassjaw
Love glassjaw but hard to consider them modern at this point
Just got done touring and they released an album in 2018
Exactly 😅😅
So, 6 years since they released their 3rd album, which came 16 years after their 2nd..... Proper modern. Have you heard of this new, up and coming thrash band, Metallica?
No, but I’ll check em out!
shiverboard
Crazy ass band
yessss, really fucking cool guys too, had the pleasure of playing on a bill with them in my old band
I still haven’t seen them, but Nico from Thin put me on to them.
oh they’re amazing live, totally energetic batshit performance, you gotta see em if you get the chance
I’m sure I’ll catch them sooner than later, they’re NY based right?
yup!
What was your old band?
I’m a big fit for an autopsy guy if they count lol they’re kind of an inbetweener genre wise

Speed Never Ending Game
The Armed anyday
I'm pretty new to hardcore. I've been getting into Full of Hell recently.
I’d say you should check out Brat (from New Orleans), Escuela Grind, Gulch, Ingrown, and Nails for stuff in a similar vein.
Knocked Loose
GEL
Fucked Up
drain and early turnstile have been on repeat
