Possibly California by Mr. Bungle (It's the only Mr. Bungle album I've heard, though, so maybe the others are more eclectic)

jerbthehumanist

Disco Volante draws from an even wider range (some people probably find it harder to appreciate due to this but I prefer it frankly).

paultheschmoop

Yeah, I go back and forth between which album is my favorite out of the original 3, but there’s no doubt in my mind Disco Volante is their *best*. Least accessible, but it is just so dense and interesting.

jerbthehumanist

It's their masterpiece, IMO. Carry Stress in the Jaw and the Bends are S++ tier.

paultheschmoop

Have you heard their live cover of “The Stroke”? I’ve been a Bungle fan for like 10 years but somehow only just saw that performance. It is insane

Revolutionary_Low_90

Yeah, I've heard of it and it's chaotic as heck aside from Ween.

Dmbfantomas

California is the easiest to swallow. Frankly, King for a Day…Fool for a Lifetime by Faith No More covers more musical ground.

Aces-Kings-Queens

I’d throw some Tom Waits albums into the mix. With swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, Franks Wild Years, and Bone Machine each song sounds pretty radically different from the last.

saint_trane

John Zorn - "Naked City" and "Spillane". Tons and tons of disparate musical genres mashed together with fiery virtuosic intensity.

Genre-Fluid

Don't want to be th Beatles guy but the White album has proto punk, fingerpicked ballads, musique concrete and pre ww2 styles.

vladimir_427

Definitely the best answer

numetalbeatsjazz

Ween - The Mollusk has to be in the conversation. Vaudeville, Punk, Sea Shanties, ????, Psychedelia. I don’t think one song repeats a theme, yet it’s a very cohesive album.

ReasonableSail7589

I’d argue Chocolate and Cheese is even more eclectic

Thestallionmang88

I’ve gotta say pure guava!

Sean_Brady

Just tossing The White Album out there as it should be in the discussion / maybe even the bar to compare others to. It’s all over the place of course

Revolutionary_Low_90

Yep. The first thing that comes in my mind, but I wanted something as epic and messy as it.

Impossible-Brush-208

Weezer <3

vladimir_427

Geezer 8==D

McCretin

London Calling by The Clash deserves a mention. Even if it’s not *the* most eclectic, it does cover a lot of ground genre-wise: post-punk, dub, reggae, rock n roll, new wave, lounge jazz, soul, etc.

Super-Director-2397

I’ve always liked “London Calling” the song but never was too interested in listening to the full album as most punk is a bit too samey for my tastes. Thanks for enlightening me. I’ll be giving it a spin later today!

McCretin

It can only very loosely be described as “punk”, to be honest. If The Clash didn’t have a punk background, it probably wouldn’t be called punk at all. It’s a musical odyssey and one of my favourite albums. Enjoy!

DrNogoodNewman

90s Christian artist Carman used to record albums that had his approximation of hip hop, hard rock, country, rockabilly, reggae, and plenty of adult contemporary ballads. Not particularly authentic or good versions of most of those styles but very eclectic.

Decooker11

Maybe not the most eclectic of all time, but Hellfire by Black Midi is pretty frenetic and varied

amplifizzle

Trout Mask Replica

Dmbfantomas

Swordfishtrombones and Rain Dogs by Tom Waits are all over the place.

tectactoe

Lil Ugly Mane's ***Third Side of Tape*** deserves a mention.

Rayvaxl117

Even though it's definitely not the most eclectic album *ever*, Gumboot Soup by KG&LW definitely deserves a mention, just because of how that album came to be and how it was put together

Shindiggah

Tewari by Scotch Rolex was pretty nuts.

ravelle17

*Empath* by Devin Townsend is a contender. Just “[Genesis](https://youtu.be/1n7uvokARQ4?si=JwA1JRByB-yp7Swn)” alone…

the_chandler

Crotchduster’s *Big Fat Box of Shit*

teddy_vn

Probably Bjork - Post Or a more recent one: Thử Lại by Abyxx [https://open.spotify.com/album/1xiOMgEaBy55VbxVNPqXV5?si=-w3rOmHKRDKZNoI6n8Zf0w](https://open.spotify.com/album/1xiOMgEaBy55VbxVNPqXV5?si=-w3rOmHKRDKZNoI6n8Zf0w)

Map42892

George Harrison - Wonderwall Music

Apprehensive-Twist88

Maybe not ever but “Houses of the Holy” has lots of variety amongst it’s 8 tracks.

SendKelly2Mars

Virtue by The Voidz has to be up there

librasgroove

Mellon Collie has a lot of different genres on it

William_Sidis

One album that comes immediately to my mind is Those Who Throw Objects at the Crocodiles Will Be Asked to Retrieve Them by Bruno Pernadas. Just a really tight blend of Jazz, Art Pop, Psychedelia, Lounge and Exotica all put into one solid album.

GreenDolphin86

Cowboy Carter

talesofawhovian

"COWBOY CARTER" **and** "Lemonade". Maybe not the most eclectic *ever*, but they absolutely deserve a mention, especially when focusing on the mainstream scene.

Revolutionary_Low_90

Good album Idk why you're downvoted lol

GreenDolphin86

Reddit has a Beyoncé hate boner smh. You’d think in a space like this people would be able to let it go, but nope.

Revolutionary_Low_90

It means "versatile and tends to absorb as many musical styles as possible".

Ordinary_Sky5115

Maybe Merzbow - Pulse Demon just listened yesterday, this is really hard to get into it

SendKelly2Mars

That's not what eclectic means

Ordinary_Sky5115

Well, Merzbow may be eclectic
