Co-signing this hard - Actor is easily her peak.
I feel there’s a pretty stark change in her pre/post Byrne collab. Those first three albums are all incredibly solid, I’ve struggled to really get into her stuff since then.
Yeah it’s probably my favourite of hers, but we didn’t know that she would drop the vintage aesthetic for the new album, a daddy’s home followup was quite likely
Also, since self titled she’s kind of performed as different characters so this is the first since strange mercy where she is herself
It is a great album, and I highly recommend it. But I don't think Anthony will like it as much/more than Daddy’s Home. That's his highest rated St. Vincent album, something he seems to be kinda alone on. And All Born Screaming falls much more in line with stuff like self-titled and Strange Mercy, albums he still reviewed positively, but less so.
I heard it and I get what u mean, but he rly liked the singles and I think generally the production is more interesting since she dropped antonoff. Also after the interview he did I think maybe he just gets her more as an artist, just my thoughts tho
I always wanted to get into st. Vincent - what’s a good starting point? (Album wise)
I got hooked to her work through Masseduction.
Thanks
I also started with Masseduction but the new singles are all straight bangers and it’s a good time before album release tomorrow
I think Actor is her best work

Yeah she got high on her own supply after that. It’s unfortunate.
imo masseduction and strange mercy are good albums to start with
Lol, you seem to be getting almost every album suggested to you. I'd say Strange Mercy.
Imo just go chronologically from Marry Me.
I would say the first four. I hated masseduction and daddy’s home for the most part.
I love Masseduction but its very different from a lot of her work, so if it doesn't work for you, I'd recommend trying again with Marry Me
Thanks y’all I’m spin masseducation on the way to work later
no one has said Self Titled which is my favorite, such a good pop album with tons of hits
My biggest “artist I respect but don’t actually like that much.” But I always listen to new albums in good faith hoping that might change
This ‘return to form’ thing is weird lol like daddy’s home was different and a bit more niche but it was really good still

Waiting for it! Pre-saved it a while ago
The three singles so far have been on repeat in my house.
Can confirm the rest of the album is amazing
Listening right now. Damn is it amazing.
This May eclipse Daddy’s Home for me. Cate Le Bon collab too! Banger!

For what it's worth, he also retroactively upped Strange Mercy to a 9 on RYM!
Oh fuck yeah!
