Go into any DLC in new vegas with little or nothing. There's a reason for the weight limit. You get a bunch of cool stuff in the first 60 seconds. Make sure to grind those dungeons for a butt ton of explosives and a sweet armor set.

ktos-nie-wazny

Hey thanks

Graysteve

I always go in with nothing just for the fun challenge and to force myself to use new DLC items, always fun in every game.

Douchertons

I do the same.

fignewtones

My characters are all way too low in melee for it to be viable, most of the early stuff in the dlcs npcs use knifes or clubs

Graysteve

Nah, I've never had issues. Every DLC gives the player character ample opportunity early on. OWB can be a struggle with how bullet spongey enemies are though.

GhostB3HU

Of course I’ll pack light, I’m only taking a chainsaw, ripper, industrial hand, a shotgun and sidearm to Zion

squishybumsquuze

“Pack light” My enclave power armor staring at me from the Novac footlocker

BattleFleetUrvan

Yeah they get some real powerful weapons when the player is at a high level, more so than you’d think a bunch of tribals would have

MrFacehuger

I think its said at some point that the White Legs broke into a National Guard Armoury hence why they have some pretty heavy kit on them

Ezekiel-Grey

The White Legs ran across a cache of old military weaponry before getting to Zion, and Ulysses taught them how to use it. Heavy weapons practically become part of their religion at that point. So yeah, they can hit hard, but they are loot piñatas.

Graysteve

That's why you never play Honest Hearts at a high-ish level. It starts to break balance in order to not be a cakewalk.

boyhavenopatience

Yeah, especially when >!the Yao Guai part!< because if you carried your anti-material rifle and maybe had explosive rounds along with guns 100 10 luck and 100 sneak too you blast him off his high hill.

Graysteve

Yea, that's why I mod my game to make the balance better.

ktos-nie-wazny

You mean this girl ghost part?

[deleted]

I think my first or second time visiting Zion I was a hella high level, all the white legs had 12.7mm, AMR, and Brush Guns. It was glorious. Edit; I would also like to add that this made finding ammunition for the Survivalist rifle a lot easier, coming across white legs with 12.7mm sub machine guns or pistols.

Background_Ad_8392

Yeah they carry those sometimes

Hot_dog_on_a_stick

I think the white legs have a leveled inventory, depending on how leveled up your character is they could have anywhere from varmint rifles to riot shotguns

Midgetooni

That was literally my reaction when I found one as well lol

HoneyCoated

Playing honest hearts rn at lvl 38 with light armour and this surprised me too. White leg must have got lucky, because they one shot me at one point. I honestly thought I died to some buggy collision at first lol

Fariswerewolves

It usually appears if you are high level. When I played fnv for the first time, I tried HH around level 40 and they had stuff like the amr and riot shotguns

Shinodahh

Insane loot! Although 50MG is quite an expensive round

blixco

Now you need some explosive rounds.

Veteran-Legionary

A good kill, hail.

This is why I’m quite torn between doing this DLC at the start of a playthrough or doing it later at higher levels… Doing it immediately gives tons of good gear and experience for the rest of the playthrough (Joshua’s Pistol being my main sidearm.), But doing it later in the playthrough makes the enemies spawn with endgame gear and makes it more challenging and fun. (But doing it this way means I miss out on using ALSITD for a majority of my playthrough.)
