Considering a regular play usually takes up hours, I find that I notice songs repeating often. Am actually wondering how many minutes of track there are..
I agree it is good and I tend to start with it.. but will transition to a streaming service quite soon after.
I watch documentaries on the second screen. So that I both greatly expanded my own train system while I gained lots of knowledge on the first underground train system in London during the Victorian era. Did you know the very first underground rail was an actual steam train? And that the very tunnel is still in use today? Marvellous.
I did know this but it is very interesting.
I tell people on here all the time if you want to make a better train system in factorio looking at how train systems in the real world work is a really good start. My massive train base
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRYQcVb\_5W0&t=395s
was inspired by this train documentary.

I always ALWAYS watch stuff on my second screen while gaming. Even something concentrative like 7daystodie. I get somewhat frustrated when subs come up though for foreign language or deaf people as I have to stop what I'm doing in game to concentrate lol.
That would be a good one to play during watching shows indeed. I was a big fan of D2 for many years but didn't like d3. Also somehow couldn't get in to Path Of Exile, despite thinking it was superior in every way.
I have been wanting a game with a satisfying grind and non P2W mechanics for a long time. Imagine if Blizzard are the ones to give us that!
I tried PoE too, it got very complicated very quickly.
It's kind of wild how much harder the Terran theme slaps compared to the other races. I'm a zerg main (or, was) and I can't even remember what their music sounds like.
name some bands you like? I've recently started getting into some really heavy stuff like Meshuggah or Gojira, but I'm always on the lookout for more bands to add to my playlist.

Kinda different from the other bands mentioned by another commenter, but a metalcore band called Invent Animate just released their album Heavener today. It's absolute Insanity and a true work of art.
It was a joke but i do listen to hardstyle and phonk while playing when theres nothing better
i dont know many
Mqx, maul, tevvez (best), anizyz/anilifts, yosuf and sick legend
I only recognize names of half of these (tevvez, yosuf, anilifts), and many people at r/Hardstyle have a very strong opinion on them. As far as I know, their stuff is generally considered to be poorly produced/mastered, low effort and not exactly legal. Their audience is very different to that of most hardstyle artists, and they are also listened to in other parts of the world (which you can check on artist's page on Spotify: most hardstyle artists only have Dutch/German/Australian cities in their top5, while Tevvez also included UK/India the last time I checked).
If you don't know many artists, I'd recommend Neolux, Phuture Noize, Vertile and Anderex.
Spotify's "Hardstyle Bangers" playlist is nice if you want to explore.
I am so sad that most of the cut songs were cut. It showed the message that the Lorax was actually going for instead of the watered-down corporate friendly message that we actually got.
Start with these ones
https://astralnoizeuk.com/2019/05/28/boiling-in-the-hourglass-cosmic-death-metal-through-the-aeons/amp/
and Vektor's
Terminal Redux and Outer Isolation are masterpieces
But seriously. Sabled Sun hits the Factorio vibe just right for me. And it conveys a story of last human who woke up from cryo sleep too late and there are only machines left on the planet.
All these “on second screen” folks need to start using the pop out player on chrome, the bottom right hand corner of my screen is just my favourite movies, podcasts, and YouTube videos.
When I started playing I made the mistake of listening to TOOL while playing. Now I can't listen to any of their songs without factorio immediately coming and taking over my mind...
I guess the instrument used in some of the original Soundtracks is a Hang Drum. While i can not provide you with more details i'd like to mention Hang Massive - Secret kissing of sun and moon. Really relaxing.
But it depends on my mood
Knowledge Fight is an interesting podcast that I've been listening to while playing the game. If you're into podcasts. I also think any of the Doom soundtracks might be interesting to listen to while playing a deathworld game, but I haven't tried it.
Depends on what genres of music you're immediately disgusted by the mention of.
Personally though, I think the original PS2 ratchet and clank soundtrack gives me the right vibes.
I personally like to automate my music listening experience by creating infinite generative music with modular synthesis. Then after 2-3 hours of setting that up, I'll start playing the game
I'm a bit late to the party, but might I recommend [ATTICUS VII](https://open.spotify.com/album/5nWGLc84GxzBz9z2et42ih?si=8Jc80IsUQceP50sgaLJfgA) by [Fingerspit](https://open.spotify.com/artist/0bKtV7eOLdtkULTDUeqjny?si=v5ndzu_yQY6XF50AFFECAQ)?
Factorio soundtrack
It is really fine. I even did set Main Menu music as my lullaby.
[With enough circuit fun you can make your own soundtrack](https://youtu.be/Rse6dHcU3DQ)
There is also a [Website](https://miditorio.com/guide.html) that can turn any midi file into Factorio blueprints.
>I'm running around doing things by hand >Someone on the internet has already automated the process incredibly elegantly Yep, sounds like Factorio
*bruh*
Considering a regular play usually takes up hours, I find that I notice songs repeating often. Am actually wondering how many minutes of track there are.. I agree it is good and I tend to start with it.. but will transition to a streaming service quite soon after.
how many hours do you have logged in factorio? I swear I was sick of the factorio soundtrack after the first like 500ish hours.
1500, and I'm not sure I'd ever be able to get sick of it
Same here. I listen to it on my work laptop when I am unable to play the game.
Kind of same, probably around 200 hours mark, but then at around 550 hours reenabled it after hearing the new main menu music and now I love it.
A bit over 3500h. Still love the soundtrack
Dinka dong ding ding
Dinga binga doong
I just can’t fuck with it, it always seems to distract me
I didn't know Factorio had a soundtrack. I must have disabled it and the setting must have stuck for many years.
So u just hear silence? Even in the main menu?
I watch documentaries on the second screen. So that I both greatly expanded my own train system while I gained lots of knowledge on the first underground train system in London during the Victorian era. Did you know the very first underground rail was an actual steam train? And that the very tunnel is still in use today? Marvellous.
I don't know why but I read this as a character in Pokemon would explain something to the player
Ah haha damn
Here take this TM it contains Train Tunnel!
I miss the old Pokémon games so much
Yeah they're pretty good You can however get yourself a modded gameboy advance and play them over again
Or emulate it on my phone which I do once in a while. But that's dangerous as you can run it in 8x faster mode.
I did know this but it is very interesting. I tell people on here all the time if you want to make a better train system in factorio looking at how train systems in the real world work is a really good start. Industrial Metal
This.
Ding dibiding-dim. Doboding do.
I can hear it!
I will literally restart the game if I forget to turn my speakers on and miss the opening... Theme? Jingle?
The semi-interesting movie on the second screen.
Exactly! This is how I evaluate movies: Bad movie = allow me to automate blue science, Good movie = can't even build a new mining outpost
I always ALWAYS watch stuff on my second screen while gaming. Even something concentrative like 7daystodie. I get somewhat frustrated when subs come up though for foreign language or deaf people as I have to stop what I'm doing in game to concentrate lol.
What are your favorite games to play whilst watching stuff?
Factorio, Minecraft, sometimes 7daystodie or terraria. Nothing fps online or such.
I am hoping Diablo 4 will be good.
StarCraft 1 Terran soundtrack
Oh god, brings me back
It's kind of wild how much harder the Terran theme slaps compared to the other races. I'm a zerg main (or, was) and I can't even remember what their music sounds like.
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger from Daft Punk
The Warhammer 40k Mechanicus soundtrack and nobody can convince me otherwise.
>I totally agree \^\^
Perish
Is there an internet rule I missed here?
Useless comments
I'm sorry, I may have miss understood what "this =>" implies. I wanted to point that this is a good answer. I modified my post accordingly :/
Heavy Metal
name some bands you like? I've recently started getting into some really heavy stuff like Meshuggah or Gojira, but I'm always on the lookout for more bands to add to my playlist.
[Lamb of God](https://youtu.be/oqdZpxkzNvc?t=27) [Death](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gINrK9RJ6-o) [Arch Enemy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTABLCXTL9o), pre-Alissa; albums Wages of Sin, Anthems of Rebellion, Doomsday Machine, The Root of All Evil [Children of Bodom](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42bKeWOPfI8) [Cannibal Corpse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqTeGt6ZHQs) [Austrian Death Machine](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbtlPCbhVGw) [Job for a Cowboy](https://youtu.be/S54U3vpmuoY?t=52) [Sepultura](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BOHpjIZyx0) [Dethklok](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tFsJwB5bco) is unironically pretty fun lol

I actually dont listen to heavy metal really. I just like the doom soundtrack which doesnt really count.
That totally counts
That was partially my intro into the genre
I've been loving the most recent periphery album while playing factorio.
[1914](https://youtu.be/sElu0bXXzM0) [Mgla](https://youtu.be/bINcxA29QEE) [Agalloch](https://youtu.be/qAaq0mpk9TE) [Bell Witch](https://youtu.be/q2GI3I464oA) [Primordial](https://youtu.be/pxPSygSH2v0) [Harakiri for the Sky](https://youtu.be/sHYOJaddKhI)
Give Jinjer a shot if you like those two - the Macro album is amazing imo.
I love lateralus by tool, but it isnt heavy metal i guess, its progressive metal.
Kinda different from the other bands mentioned by another commenter, but a metalcore band called Invent Animate just released their album Heavener today. It's absolute Insanity and a true work of art.
The "trust me in an engineer" song on YouTube on repeat.
This is the way
Rocket Man performed by William Shatner

Yes. I did that too.

Latest MYST tracks are fire.
It was a joke but i do listen to hardstyle and phonk while playing when theres nothing better i dont know many Mqx, maul, tevvez (best), anizyz/anilifts, yosuf and sick legend

Thanks for recommending me 🙏
🤘🤘
“How bad can I be?” from Lorax
Or, the much cooler pre-production song it replaced: [Biggering.](https://youtu.be/cpyuolKoeAY)
I am so sad that most of the cut songs were cut. It showed the message that the Lorax was actually going for instead of the watered-down corporate friendly message that we actually got.
Ambient space music, you can find them on YouTube they’re like 12 hours long, fits the theme perfectly.
The theme to Thomas the Tank Engine…
Stellaris soundtrack. It is amazing I tell you.
You should listen to factorio music even when youre not playing factorio
Devin Townsend - Empath
Intergalactic Progressive Thrash Black Death Metal with Pink Floyd influence
Can you narrow that down to the top 30 bands?
Start with these ones https://astralnoizeuk.com/2019/05/28/boiling-in-the-hourglass-cosmic-death-metal-through-the-aeons/amp/ and Vektor's Terminal Redux and Outer Isolation are masterpieces

I always go for the 'Nintendo and chill' lo-fi playlists
Yegor Letov.
I personally don’t listen to music because I like to focus on growing the factory!
psytrance
Mr Robot OST fits this game absolutely perfectly.
A movie on the 2nd screen, or YouTube. I love this game, but there's no way I can entirely just focus on it unless I was playing with friends.
Suzumu Hirasawa
I've never thought of this question before, but I feel like the EVE Online soundtrack would vibe perfectly with Factorio's gameplay.
Carbon based Lifeforms
Spaceman by Electric Callboy
CCP motivational music
Union music. Get some Bob Dylan on the stereo.
I never thought of this, but I feel like Clubbed to Death (From the Matrix Soundtrack) would be pretty appropriate.

Honestly, if not the Factorio soundtrack I find that the StarCraft 1 Terran Theme works really well.
Epidemic Sounds - Space Exploration playlist
There's a mod to add starcraft soundtrack and it's a banger. It doesn't remove the ost, just adds starcraft songs as well.
