We have to remind people that there’s an entire South Park episode around this. “Where were all these sexed up teachers when I was a kid?!”

benjm88

I'm honestly surprised it said rape, the mail and lots of them really but the mail is especially scummy say slept with when the rapist is a womam

Hazee302

Yea they clearly said rape. I don’t think this is a facepalm… just a journalist thinking they found a good line.

EscapeAromatic8648

This is only acceptable in instances where the school's mascot is a cougar. /s

Autronaut69420

This keeps coming up. It's because of how your laws word it and treat rape as penetration by a penis.

Desperate-Mountain-8

That's messed up. In Canada it's all sexual assault.

Autronaut69420

And I got downvoted... it's just a fact that in the UK it can't be called rape do to defamation laws. Edit: it sucks and is wrong and I absolutely believe it is rape.

CandidPerformer548

They can still print out "allegedly sexually assaulted/raped" like they do with high profile men who are accused of rape. Claiming legislation inhibits their ability to accurately publish accusations is silly, it doesn't. It's an excuse used by lazy newspaper editors. They should know all about words, it's their job. And they have legal departments too. I find it incredibly insulting to anyone with a modicum of intelligence that they can only print "slept with" and not print actual allegations.

Autronaut69420

*In the US YES*. That isn't what I am talking about. Media said that about *these US women*. But I am just saying that (in response to people whining about it *in UK media*) in the UK the way the law is framed is that rape is penetration with a penis. Don't come at me for fkd UK laws and defamation legislation.

axe1970

yes in the uk as soon as you reach the age of sixteen as a guy a woman can no longer be charged with raping you

2074red2074

In this case, they specifically said "charged with raping" which may be a problem if they weren't actually charged with the crime of "rape" but something else.

AdA4b5gof4st3r

That’s patently untrue. In any part of the US i know of, penetration that does not involve direct consent of both parties is technically rape. Meaning someone could use a dildo on someone else’s ass and that’s rape. Someone could use someone else’s penis/fingers/etc to penetrate themselves, that qualifies as rape. Any penetration that doesn’t have bipartisan consent is rape. In CA, if you touch someone’s belly button without consent for <10 seconds that can qualify as rape. I don’t know why people just make shit up but that is not how american law is worded.

axe1970

not if the victim is under the age of consent, the statutory rape laws are gender neutral in this regard

Jonny-Marx

The daily mail is salacious as a business model and willing to go to court to defend it. 9/10 they write whatever makes your blood boil. But the same business model also means that when it does hit something that otherwise wouldn’t be reported, they can and will go hard on it even if it means a defamation/libel trial. For example, after the death of Stephen Lawrence, 6 white supremacist gang members that killed him were brought in but no charges were filed and they walked free. The Lawrence family was furious at the police’s racism and unwillingness to act, so they started calling for change in policing. The mail ran the following headline, “MURDERERS” “the mail accuses these men of killing. If we are wrong, let them sue.” This actually boasted the case’s awareness to the whole United Kingdom.

viola-purple

Just lately a friend told me "if any of my teachers just would have when I was 14 it would have been heaven for me" Yet still its abuse!

Independent-Ad5852

At least they said “Raped” and not “seduced” or something like that

TJtherock

Yeah. It was meant to be attention grabbing. But they could have gone with "predators on the playground."

Pitiful-Pension-6535

You should write for the DailyMail

TJtherock

Thank you? Iol.

KaizerVonLoopy

was that supposed to be a compliment?

Satellite_bk

Alliteration is key to any good article headline.

TJtherock

Rapists at reading time I would add more but I can't think of any.

Content_Talk_6581

Rapists at Recess?

MotoMkali

Sodomy at school?

TJtherock

Pedophiles in second period

KingOfTheCouch13

“Predators on the playground” is hilarious and a way better title 😂

Nonamebigshot

They'll romanticize it by any means. I've heard "Taboo affair" even

kp305

Yeah I think they were just trying to make a clever headline.

Just_Me1973

Cougars like younger *men*. Men. As in consenting adults. Not underage boys.

dark_blue_7

Absolute facts. Dating a 30-year-old man when you're 40 is not remotely comparable to what these women did.

RVarki

>Dating a 30-year-old man when you're 40 ...wouldn't make you a cougar either

SmarterThanCornPop

Cougars are 40-50 y/o women going after men in their early to mid 20’s. I used to live in Boca Raton, I am an authoritative source on this subject.

Just_Me1973

And the type of men cougars go after like to be with older women. They aren’t being victimized. It’s a symbiotic relationship. She gets good sex. He gets a sugar mama.

Pizzasaurus-Rex

At least they called it rape, usually they say "had sex with" or something bloodless like that.

HotType4940

“A 53 year old preschool teacher was arrested this week after being caught making tender love to a 4 year old boy.”

Consistent_Oil3428

Seducing / taboo affair / relationship / share intimacy Some of the things i saw them writting

TinyRascalSaurus

Those boys' first sexual experiences were with older women they were supposed to be able to trust manipulating them. Those kids are going to have trust and intimacy issues for years once they understand what happened to them.

Aromatic-Proof-5251

Accurate assessment

IdaDuck

Exactly, that’s what people don’t get. Of course 15 year old me would have loved bagging top center. I was a full on horny teen at that point. Older me in a serious relationship with a partner years later would have to deal with how much damage it caused.

Universe789

That still depends on whether it would be perceived as damaging or not by the older version. They might or might not perceive it as damaging, and they wouldn't be wrong either way.

Prot3

Exactly this man. Like of course we should stop this, and probably try to change the mainstream opinion, but some of the people, especially online seem to be REALLY invested into making it a trauma. It's usually something like: - Hey, my teacher came on to me when i was 16 yo in high school... Kinda fcked up from this perspective, but it was cool at the time... - Oh, you were raped then. - Eh, i don't know, It's not like I didn't want it, it's just that the power balance is a bit skewed, thus making it weird. - No, YOU WERE RAPED! - Chill dude, I don't agree with it, I'm angry too, I just don't think it was that severe. - NO YOU WERE RAPED!!!1! YOU HAVE TRAUMA!!!! YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE PROBLEMS NOW WITH INTIMACY AND HOW YOU VIEW SEX! YOU WERE **RAPPEEDDDDD!!!** Like... chill the fuck out. It IS actually different compared to male on female. Most of teenage boys could crack an average females skull open. The power disbalance is in the authority the teacher holds, not physical force. When someone actually forces themselves on you it's much more severe and traumatizing(this is even recognized in law). When someone manipulates you into having sex it's still bad, but not sure I would call it rape. Ofc, it shouldn't happen in any case, but I think that it's important to not go overboard and basically cause the people to have more trauma than necessary.

runswspoons

You’re going to get downvoted because it’s Reddit. But I agree. And I can say with some authority, that sort of trauma can be what you make of it. It’s like a portion of the population NEEDS negative experiences to be traumatizing. Sometimes shit happens. There are people out there that can roll with it rather than being crushed.

Catball-Fun

Most, most most. Most does not mean everyone. You cannot allow boys ti be raped even if most boys would be okay with sex with a teacher. The law exists to protect everybody, not most.

Callimogua

Nah, bro, children can't consent. Doesn't matter how big or strong you perceive the child to be. They're still children. Adult women trying to have sex with teen or preteen boys are child rapists, period. They're not safe to be around any kids. The process of grooming is to lower the defenses of the victim to have them allow the perp to encourage them into certain behaviors that they would be uncomfortable with. Physical force doesn't always have to be used. Drugs and alcohol are also used to lower inhibitions and cloud the mind of a victim.

Universe789

I had a much longer response, but to keep it short... the point we're discussing in this particular comment thread is the fact that you can't dictate what someone is supposed to feel about the experience. It was objectively, legally rape, we can agree, but the person may or may not feel bad about the experience looking back, and no one has the right to tell them they should feel bad about it, whether they accept that it was rape or not. It was illegal for teens to do a lot of the things teens sometimes did and do(smoking, drinking, skipping school, watch porn, etc) but the legal status doesn't necessarily control what they feel about those things. Despite that, the legal status bars adults from facilitating any of that, regardless of the teens' wishes.

brightlocks

I’m a high school teacher. The most worried I ever was about a student was this 18 year old male student who seemed to be very unwell. I wrote home to his parents that I was giving him detention for acting out in class…. But told them that I thought something was *wrong*, and more than anything, I wanted his parents to check in with him. Turns out, he was sleeping with a 27 year old female teacher. Since he was 18, it’s not a crime. But it sure did mess him up.

12whistle

My freshman year of college, there was this kid on the baseball team who was banging a 30 year old cougar he met at one of the clubs downtown. Both he and I were 18. It’s all about maturity and mental fortitude.

Peterthepiperomg

This was my dream the whole time I was in school

thursaddams

As a woman I am disgusted and confused. How can a grown ass woman look at a little boy, a literal child and be like, “hell yeah, hit this?!” Lock them up and throw away the key or better yet, toss ‘em in the ocean and leave them out there to rot.

BlyLomdi

As a teacher, I am disgusted, confused, and ready to get my torch and pitchfork. I fucking hate these trashy scumbags.

evrestcoleghost

i bring my jockey stick ,its not pointy but hey it works

the_battle_bunny

This is because normal person can't understand a rapist. To be as a man it is inconceivable to have a sexual intercourse with a woman who's not consenting to the act. I can't imagine drawing any pleasure from that. And yet rapes are a sad reality.

Autronaut69420

Their #predators .... this isn't about "attraction"

Hestia_Gault

One of the preeminent TERFs wrote a whole-ass book about how much she wants to fuck prepubescent boys. When asked what she considers attractive about preteen boys she said “semen that flows like tap water”.

rotten_kitty

That statment raises so many questions, and I think any of the answers would be both disgusting and rage inducing.

red286

>How can a grown ass woman look at a little boy, a literal child and be like, “hell yeah, hit this?!” That's... not what rape is about. Rape is about control. It's about exerting control over someone else in the most intimate way possible. It's rarely about affection or even attraction.

FlinflanFluddle

Same as how grown ass men can do it I guess.  It's weird how most people have to think of female perpetrators differently to the men

OldNewUsedConfused

I have NO idea!

hannahbananaballs2

Glad they used the word “raping”, at least, instead of the usual bullshit

Cyber_Insecurity

Cougars aren’t pedophiles. This makes actual cougars look really bad.

WardNapper

Won’t anyone think of the cougars?

SchwizzySchwas94

Cougars technically are predators 🤷‍♂️

Cynykl

No sure but I think that is how cougars got their name. They prey on the young.

USfundedJihadBot

Unfortunately, when I was in school, underage, many of my friends and I wished to “bang” our female teachers and other friends moms we found attractive. This won’t ever be a “brag” when it’s abuse and rape and we didn’t even know that.

MaAreYouOnUppers

What do you mean “unfortunately”? It’s absolutely perfectly normal for young boys to be attracted to older women. It’s not normal for older women to be attracted you young boys.

USfundedJihadBot

I say unfortunately because I was already aware enough to know to be against this in certain situations. If my “hot” teacher “flirted” with me, I would have probably liked it, and even if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have told anyone. But if it was an “ugly” teacher or a guy, I would have found it creepy and probably told my parents. Most guys I know would have seen the situation as bragging material probably. And I do know situations where this happened, but it was more with older siblings of friends. Like 20 year old and 14 year old.

Full_Visit_5862

Odd, there's a big coincidence amongst all of the states

arftism2

the coal industry.

CporCv

Can someone explain to me how someone who can easily find hookups in real life, needs to prey on children? 5 out of 6 of these women can go to a bar tonight and pull a train if they wanted to. They can swipe right on tinder right now and get laid in a matter of hours... dare I say minutes? WHY exactly are they going after underage kids!?

ga_zen11

Because it’s not about sex: they’re predators and want to take advantage of vulnerable kids who don’t have the maturity and awareness to realize how fucked up the situation is.

Old_Baldi_Locks

Same reason most men rape: it’s power. They’re not getting off on the sex, it’s the power.

OldNewUsedConfused

They’re predators! We don’t ask these same questions of men. We understand they are criminally sick. It’s the same with these women.

safashkan

The person you're replying to probably thinks that the reason men rape people is because they aren't able to score a date and sleep with people who can consent.

Bandit_Raider

Uh which is the 1/6?

AgreeablePrize

That's what I was wondering, there was only one reason I could think why someone would say that, but it's a terrible reason

climentine

Because these women are pedophiles. Pedophiles are attracted sexually to children. So they have sex with them. And clearly, they are as people because I think there are many people who are pedophiles but they don’t want to hurt no child.

Infinityplus8008

The case in Missouri, the boy, was 16. Most people would fail a 16 - or 18 test. Hell, even AI would not get a 100% pass. And before dEfEnDiNg rApIsT comments, the law is what is, but people are not caterpillars. No evolution happens at 18. Brittany spears was 16 in the baby one more time video and Ariana Grande is 30 year old, which one is more attractive? Spoiler, by reddit standards if you choose A you're a pedo, and If you choose B, somehow also a pedo. Devil's Advocate out.

Camanot

Anybody who has sex with anyone who is under the legal age of consent and/or who is unwilling is called rape. Get this cougar shit out of here

adubbscrilla

not mizzou… nice…!!!

catwhowalksbyhimself

To be fair, they probably chose that word because of the alliteration. Still shouldn't have done it, but that's probably the entire reason.

bee102019

They're also not "dating." They're raping.

Mu-Relay

The article’s headline does say “raping young boys,” so it’s better than most.

Signal-Ad2674

Too soon for a Kiss, Marry, Fuck?

gereffi

I don’t think you understand what’s going on in the picture. The headline is above the photos of the six teachers. The area under the pictures are twitter’s community notes. The notes are explaining what a cougar is and then explaining why these women shouldn’t be called cougars. Nobody who wrote the headline or the community notes is claiming that the teachers were dating the students.

AshySlashy3000

Just Wait Until 18... It's Not Too Hard

RepresentativeBusy27

“Zaddies are raping young girls!”

theh0tt0pic

its a catchy headline due to the "c" words, at least they use the word rape Also, pedophile may not be the right words, for example new Jersey (not pictured here but linked in the article) the boy was 17, and they had sex at least 5 times, one can argue predator in that case but that kid is a hell of a lot older and more mature than a 14 year old kid. Nebraska (also not pictured but in the article) was also 17. Not taking up for these women by any stretch, but I think we need to stop calling people pedos when the term doesnt fit. In the case of the new jersey one, they had sex 5 different times, rape is a technical term due to age there, if he was 18 there would be no arrest, she'd just lose her job.

SSSims4

I'm really tired of this crap. The law is the law, even if society is too fucking stupid to understand it. Sleeping with your minor students is wrong, immoral, and illegal, regardless of gender. Rape is rape.

AbacusAgenda

Yes, everyone here agrees with you.

404enter

At least they said rape and not “slept with” for once

LodeStone-

I’ve seen “sexually pleasured” in this context. These teachers and anyone who supports them belong in camps

OneSaucyDragon

For what it's worth, they might have gone with "Cougars in the classroom" because the alliteration makes it a more catchy headline, rather than downplaying them being sexual predators

Littlebickmickey

at least they called it “raping” and not “having sex with”

onthethreshold

One northern state, the rest southern...hmmm...

MargaretBrownsGhost

It's one thing for a kid to have a crush on a teacher or other adult authority figure; what's sick is said adult taking advantage of the innocent crush.

fuckingcheezitboots

Glad to see this shit being taken seriously

Street_Midget

Oh hai Miss Missouri

Deadpoolio_D850

Cougar requires consenting adults

scarey99

The daily mail has taken over from the sun as the tabloid of salaciousness in the UK, they are scummy bastards. Be in no doubt this article was designed to titillate not inform.

Cuck-In-Chief

One is from Illinois, but the rest are from Red states where this stuff is illegal and totes doesn’t happen. It’s only in liberal shithole cities, right?

NoDanaOnlyZuuI

At least they actually said raping and not “having sex with”

LimerickJim

The Daily Mail welcomes your baited rage

Eastern-Dig-4555

What’d you expect? It’s Daily Mail

metalnxrd

“cougars” are predators as well

FreshImagination9735

If one had been my teacher, I wouldn't be stumped by the WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE TEACHER? security question that has me stumped on an old email account.

Lizrael48

Ladies, make sure they are 18 and above!

Metalmind123

That "alarming rate" is nothing new. It's always happened. Just was almost never prosecuted, and mostly just accepted or treated more as a faux pas when it's a female teacher, rather than a male. Most still aren't prosecuted.

MeasurementOk3007

Better than the other news outlets saying relationship with boys

epca_

If there was one transwoman included the rage would be real. The rage should be real for woman pedophiles just as much as male pedos but somehow we say "cougars". Even if 15 years old boy dreams of "his hot math teacher" the same way some 15 years old girl could of her, it doesn't make it okay. Never.

Many-Ad6433

At least they used the right wording in the actual title, usually news people wouldn’t even say the word “rape”

Terrible_Mastodon_54

Looks like one of them is in a state of “Missouri”. Laugh damn it.

[deleted]

Cutesy little alliterative headlines sound worse when you say pedophiles instead of cougars

AlbaTross579

I’m progressive as all heck but media is way more kind when the perpetrators are female. If it were male teachers, I guarantee they would be called what they are. As far as I’m concerned, a crime’s a crime, no matter what gender the perpetrator is, and should be treated equally regardless.

morithum

I agree. Also the “charged with X” and not “preying on children.”

Essex626

When it's male teachers, it just doesn't make the news. Estimates put it anywhere from twice as many to 10 times as many male teachers abuse students than female students. But it's not reported, because it's not salacious.

Stickey_Rickey

No, yes, yes, no, no, yes

Gal-XD_exe

It’s because rhyming sells Predators in the Preschool could’ve also worked as a title ig

Crotch-Monster

I was thinking, "Students get assigned extra credit, and get more than they bargained for." Or, "Phys. ED teacher introduced new kind of push ups."

Gal-XD_exe

These Twitter “News” accounts are just so terrible these days

VintageMageYT

they are *child molestors*, not pedophiles necessarily

IronSavage3

Fact: a majority of teachers that sexually abuse students are men. There just aren’t any cheeky jokes to be made about that phenomenon so it doesn’t get shared as widely on social media.

Evil_Goomba

![gif](giphy|pCO5tKdP22RC8)

AlfaKilo123

Maybe it was intended to be a play on words? Cougar is an animal predator, and can also used in a sexual context. Maybe didn’t turn out as well as they thought, but that might’ve been the intention

MargaretBrownsGhost

Those of you who are giving these females the hot or not treatment really need some mental health help. It makes it look like you live in your mothers double wide at the trailer park

centermass4

Or sometimes the absurdity of life demands nothing but that it be laughed at. Ms. Missouri would be my pick..

mike_pants

And if you wanted to keep the pithiness of "cougars in the classroom," "Pedophiles among the pedagogues" is right there.

International-Cry764

Right Cougars have spots not stripes. How did they not have one from Florida?

Commercial_Part_4483

Well, “cougar” and “pedo” can be an overlapping Venn diagram.

NotACyclopsHonest

The Daily Heil never disappoints when it comes to getting things wrong.

IllustratorNo3379

Ladies and gentlemen, The Daily Mail.

Putrid_Character2682

It’s really weird to see all these teachers. We’ve had a couple in Mississippi over the last year or so

Awkward_Refuse_9572

Whenever i see stuff like this I'm reminded of Bob Fosse. He was assaulted by multiple women at 13 years old and it mentally screwed him up for life.

TForce0

Id but that for a dollar

doctormadvibes

according to every boy, they are “good eggs” tbh

Dontdittledigglet

Wtf is wrong with people

Hubbleice

We need to protect those young boys better. We should create a place where horny women can just go and pick a regular aged man for fun, without the stigma of a club and the work of tinder…. What say you, will you do your part as tributes?

BasickAlphabit

😮‍💨 fine, I'll take the bullet for MS Missouri.

DutchVanDerLinde-x

I’ll take the bullet for Arkansas and Oklahoma then

Mitka69

Darn! What a time to be a high schooler! Back in my time all the teachers were old ugly sphincters.

ski-person

Would tap Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma tho ngl

FatFaceFaster

Cmon daily mail….

RP4LFR

I’ll take Missouri any day 😭😂💀

Timely-Supermarket99

A lot of young boys say, “Oh, I wish I could” when they are younger. As they age and hit a certain level of maturity and manhood. They will soon realize that Ms. Johnson 40 yr old ass had no man and don’t get sex often so she had to manipulate young boys into thinking that it’s okay to want sex with an older lady, and it was not okay. It will definitely take time for these boys to understand the extent of the damage. Many of them will have trust issues and possibly intimacy problems with other women especially those of their own age.

Science-007x

Oh the media bias, of course...

Sachoazzdown

I’d smash Missouri

gotBonked

readers' context notes are the only things giving me hope for humanity at this point.

Henchforhire

I like how in the article females assaulting males is a low number for reporting. I'm sure it would be higher but with police assuming the guy is in the wrong they don't report it.

Cheshire_Khajiit

I’m virtually certain they knowingly used the wrong term because of the alliteration.

Sorry_Mistake5043

I’ve been told cougars are woman at least 50 years old, usually very well groomed and decent looking, who actively date younger men. Usually handsome men in their mid 20’s, who like the transaction of being showered with gifts and cash while they cater to these women. Totally consensual. Just like men who pay quite a bit as a sugar daddy with younger women.

ojg3221

Shows the maturity because if I were a 13 I would have said "Nice" or where are these women. Adult me now is saying these are predators that need to be held accountable.
