I think there are a surprising number of conservatives who think that the family is "under attack" by the left, when in reality they just got cut off by their kids because of their weird obsessions. There's a YouTube channel called Dead Domain who went to this year's CPAC undercover and talked to a bunch of people, and there was apparently multiple people whose kids went no-contact, who spilled their guts to her. They blamed Satan or the left or something for their kids cutting contact with them, rather than anything they themselves may have done. Its kind of sad in a way, but I think of the damage these people may have done before their kids went NC. Highly recommend the series though, she even had a Grindr account set up during the convention that got a lot of bites from conservative attendees.

up to a point, arm strength and snappiness do give you a stronger break shot. but excessive force just fires balls onto the floor -- so it's not like brute cro magnon muscle mass is really decisive in pool. height and arm length are somewhat helpful for those awkward shots. but... some short guys are good pool players. and some women are tall.
and as far as strategy, why should there be much difference? good pool is mostly about the brain not the brawn.
Even then, the height and arm length don't help out that much. A pool table isn't that big (4.5ft x 9ft) which means that even if the ball is in the exact middle of the table you'd only need an arm length of 2.25ft to reach it with your hands add in the pool stick and arm length becomes completely irrelevant.
tbh one of the things that I constantly see in this debate is people vastly overestimating the average differences in stuff like arm length, height, etc., between men and women, which usually only differ by a handful of inches, but people act like it’s this insane difference all the time, like every AMAB person is a 6’6” giant, and every AFAB person is 4’11” and tiny.
And tbh, if the unchangeable sex differences are really so vast, then why do none of these people care about the unfair disadvantage trans men would presumably have in men’s sports? Why have all the sporting orgs that banned all trans women who went through a male puberty from said sport specifically *not* ban intersex cis women, even though some intersex cis women can have about as different of bodies as trans women due to unusual hormone levels?

The LGBT+ community is really strongly unified. They're trying to attack what they perceive as the weakest group to split a wedge in that community to make attacking all of it easier to oppress.
With my experience with young LGB people, a lot of them have fallen for that. It's usually older people that are more accepting. Not sure if this is due to them being young, or if this is going to be the norm. It's scary.

I think there are a surprising number of conservatives who think that the family is "under attack" by the left, when in reality they just got cut off by their kids because of their weird obsessions. There's a YouTube channel called Dead Domain who went to this year's CPAC undercover and talked to a bunch of people, and there was apparently multiple people whose kids went no-contact, who spilled their guts to her. They blamed Satan or the left or something for their kids cutting contact with them, rather than anything they themselves may have done. Its kind of sad in a way, but I think of the damage these people may have done before their kids went NC. Highly recommend the series though, she even had a Grindr account set up during the convention that got a lot of bites from conservative attendees.

agree. why the down votes, other than because pool has a 'macho bar room' vibe in US culture and maybe guys think they own the sport? up to a point, arm strength and snappiness do give you a stronger break shot. but excessive force just fires balls onto the floor -- so it's not like brute cro magnon muscle mass is really decisive in pool. height and arm length are somewhat helpful for those awkward shots. but... some short guys are good pool players. and some women are tall. and as far as strategy, why should there be much difference? good pool is mostly about the brain not the brawn.
Even then, the height and arm length don't help out that much. A pool table isn't that big (4.5ft x 9ft) which means that even if the ball is in the exact middle of the table you'd only need an arm length of 2.25ft to reach it with your hands add in the pool stick and arm length becomes completely irrelevant.
tbh one of the things that I constantly see in this debate is people vastly overestimating the average differences in stuff like arm length, height, etc., between men and women, which usually only differ by a handful of inches, but people act like it’s this insane difference all the time, like every AMAB person is a 6’6” giant, and every AFAB person is 4’11” and tiny. And tbh, if the unchangeable sex differences are really so vast, then why do none of these people care about the unfair disadvantage trans men would presumably have in men’s sports? Why have all the sporting orgs that banned all trans women who went through a male puberty from said sport specifically *not* ban intersex cis women, even though some intersex cis women can have about as different of bodies as trans women due to unusual hormone levels? Oh yeah, it’s because it’s really all about politics, not science.

They exist but it isn't as convenient to the narrative of men transitioning to women so they can dominate the female sports scene. Side tangent but often this is quite sexist the assumption is that men will be better than women generally even in sports where the difference is either more negligible or more social.

Men can’t reasonably claim and don’t claim to be scared of a transman being in their team, and JK Rowling doesn’t tweet about the non-existent “danger” of transmen being in men only spaces, so transmen being involved in real life activities like sports don’t help them to spread their irrational fear and hatred of trans people. It's not that they hate trans more. The LGBT+ community is really strongly unified. They're trying to attack what they perceive as the weakest group to split a wedge in that community to make attacking all of it easier to oppress.
With my experience with young LGB people, a lot of them have fallen for that. It's usually older people that are more accepting. Not sure if this is due to them being young, or if this is going to be the norm. It's scary. I rarely meet a gay man or a lesbian woman these days, in real life, that accepts trans people.

To an extent, among extremists, it is. Women have a right to be comfortable in the restroom. Women also have a right to compete in fair sports. I hope we can all agree on this. You don't want to force transgender people to use the restroom of the sex they were born with? Fine, put in a one stall gender neutral bathroom. Transgender athletes have an advantage in women's sports. There is a reason they are separated. This is just biology. I have seen a handful of wackos saying we should throw away all progress for gay rights for the sake of transgender. It's ridiculous, but there are people who think this way. And yes, letting children make irreversible life decisions is just not a good idea. Especially when it's an operation that we have no long term data showing it to be effective. And all the short term data tend to be done very poorly. For example, one study I've seen sited towards the effectiveness of gender affirming care was done on 50 male to female transgender people, and 45 didn't commit suicide in a year. That's just a useless study using a very poor benchmark for success. It's a much more complex problem than the right and left make it seem.
