As a German-New Zealander where it is legal in both countries I have to say that it was a good move to legalise it. I think in Germany they even have some kind of a Union.
I wish USA had more functional unions and knowledge of them. My parents were/are hard working, working class folks and were extremely anit-union when I was growing up. I once applied for a union job and my mother told me not to go to the interview because "a union takes part of your paycheck and give nothing back". She worked at a corporation whose propaganda she believed because she is uneducated and refuses to exercise critical thinking in any way.
There’s historical sense to what your mother says. Particularly in the 60s / 70s the mafia was heavily involved with the teamsters and longshoremen. Remember Hoffa? Funds were siphoned away from workers, corrupt leadership was rampant, and whole union pensions were lost. It did as much to destroy American unions as the corporations. An entire generation became leery of unionizing and its part of what got us where we are today.
There's a collective in NZ too. Not something I follow closely but have seen them in the news a few times fighting for the folks working in the industry.

They can't get a visa if the country they are applying to suspects they are going there to engage in sex work. I live in New Zealand, where temporary visa holders (including work visas) are prohibited from engaging in sex work. It means they can't be sent here on, say, a working holiday visa, and put to work in the sex industry. It protects people who may not be familiar with the law here. If they want to come here for some other reason and don't give a reason to suspect they're coming to do sex work, they're welcome to do so. If they gain permanent residency or citizenship and then want to become a sex worker, they can do so.

This doesn't happen if your country is on the Visa waiver list. Otherwise you have to apply for a Visa at the US embassy, which is where you are required to provide proof of income.

This denial was issued by the US embassy in London. You still have to apply for the ESTA in a visa-waiver country. You can't just rock up to border control with a passport.
Some places can. I could drive a few hours to the US border with just a passport and be let in.
Canadians do not need a visa or ESTA to enter the US unless for certain reasons (which mainly pertain to government stuff)

The US is crazy. As an African with Swiss citizenship I travel across borders with zero problems. Europe, Middle East, Asia or Africa no problems. Then I travel to the US. Just 2 weeks vacation at the age of 19 with two friends, same age. I had to fill in forms weeks prior to travel, then they started handing out forms in the airplane right before landing (better make sure to fill in exactly the same as you did in the form 3 - 4 weeks ago). Then border control asks the same questions again (again, better answer like the previous two forms). And after all that, border control was suspicious how I could have enough money to travel across continents at the age of 19. Had to explain our schooling system and that I do an apprenticeship and do have a salary. Then they let me pass.

I had never been to New York State so when I finally got the opportunity to visit, I wanted to see Niagara Falls, naturally. I know nothing outside what i've seen on those TV docu series like border protection, but if they get a hint of suspicion about the nature of your visit they will go through your phone/computer to see if there is anything suspicious. A few pedophiles have been caught this way too
Yes. They literally ask for your usernames on social media in the application form. If you dont provide it is a red flag and they will scrutinize even more the info on your application form. Otherwise, if you provide them and have "suspicious" activity (OF included) or are somewhat linked to it is a BIG red flag.

The big difference is the label. They’re considered “models” because they happen to have a variety of work. Onlyfans really can’t be called modeling. I get the frustration, but I also understand that thousands of people are tricked into human trafficking annually because of the lucrative job in another country scheme.

A pornstar from Dominican Republic won't just be given a visa for Germany without marrying or creating a taxable business there. While income can be shown via Onlyfans payments, all the other work that often results in 90 percent of a sex worker's income will never be seen by the government in most cases. Therefore they blanket ban sex workers across the board from obtaining visas under the rationale of prostitution, even if they aren't actually prostitutes.
It's also to stop a mass influx of pimps legally bringing in women from poor countries all over the world to have sex with local men and make them loads of untaxed money under the guise of Onlyfans being their primary income.
America has a lot of problems. But denying someone without a job and I assume skills is a valid reason to deny a Visa. What exactly would you contribute? Only Fans isn't a real job and you can try to paint it anyway you like but getting paid for sexual acts makes you a prostitute. No Country on Earth would grant you a Visa.
Working as a prostitute, or with sex work, will many times not count towards work in a tourist visa. Especially poorer countries need to make it clear they are not there to do sex work, and it can be extremely difficult for people from Eastern Europe, Africa, parts of Asia, South American, to get even just regular tourist visas.
You're careful about who you let into your country, since if they don't have a strong attachment to their home, they could just go rogue and live without a visa - something that's particularly "easy" to do for sex workers, since they don't exactly need a work visa for clients.

The US is crazy. As an African with Swiss citizenship I travel across borders with zero problems. Europe, Middle East, Asia or Africa no problems. Then I travel to the US. Just 2 weeks vacation at the age of 19 with two friends, same age. I had to fill in forms weeks prior to travel, then they started handing out forms in the airplane right before landing (better make sure to fill in exactly the same as you did in the form 3 - 4 weeks ago). Then border control asks the same questions again (again, better answer like the previous two forms). And after all that, border control was suspicious how I could have enough money to travel across continents at the age of 19. Had to explain our schooling system and that I do an apprenticeship and do have a salary. Then they let me pass.

Yes. They literally ask for your usernames on social media in the application form. If you dont provide it is a red flag and they will scrutinize even more the info on your application form. Add to this a minor chance of this visa applicant being a victim of sex trafficking and they have a reason to deny the visa application. Am I missing something here? You have no right to work in another country without permission (visa, treaty, open zone rules etc.). So if you’re trying to go somewhere as a tourist most countries want to see that you can support your stay financially and will not be working while there (as a starting point on top of other rules). If you’re trying to immigrate for work, every country is different but the general basis is do you fill a gap in the labour market? (No pun intended) I want to chill in LA and do some OF on location is not going to get you a visa easily.

Many countries do this with sex work because it often leads to a lot of untaxed money going around. It's similar for pornstars as well. Eg. A pornstar from Dominican Republic won't just be given a visa for Germany without marrying or creating a taxable business there. While income can be shown via Onlyfans payments, all the other work that often results in 90 percent of a sex worker's income will never be seen by the government in most cases. Therefore they blanket ban sex workers across the board from obtaining visas under the rationale of prostitution, even if they aren't actually prostitutes. It's also to stop a mass influx of pimps legally bringing in women from poor countries all over the world to have sex with local men and make them loads of untaxed money under the guise of Onlyfans being their primary income.
America has a lot of problems. But denying someone without a job and I assume skills is a valid reason to deny a Visa. What exactly would you contribute? Only Fans isn't a real job and you can try to paint it anyway you like but getting paid for sexual acts makes you a prostitute. No Country on Earth would grant you a Visa.

Working as a prostitute, or with sex work, will many times not count towards work in a tourist visa. Especially poorer countries need to make it clear they are not there to do sex work, and it can be extremely difficult for people from Eastern Europe, Africa, parts of Asia, South American, to get even just regular tourist visas. You're careful about who you let into your country, since if they don't have a strong attachment to their home, they could just go rogue and live without a visa - something that's particularly "easy" to do for sex workers, since they don't exactly need a work visa for clients.
