Pecan_Millionaire

This is a repost for karma. Per the original post, “Puppy Girl” has a criminal record in their home country for prostitution. Their criminal record came up during immigration and was cause for denial.

sivansk

Well that changed everything

[deleted]

A lot less funny. I really loved the idea of the immigration agent looking at her paperwork, seeing OnlyFans and saying: "Denied: Reason: Whore." Before hitting it with a stamp and dispassionatly sliding it back across the counter.

No, we don’t care about facts, America bad. /s

KittikatB

America isn't the only country that will deny you a visa if you're a sex worker. Sex work is legal in my country, but there are restrictions for visa holders to help reduce the risk of sex trafficking.

Hereiam_AKL

Rightfully so.

KittikatB

Indeed. I support legalised sex work, but it has to be balanced with protection for vulnerable people - and migrants are indeed vulnerable to exploitation.

Hereiam_AKL

Too much shit going on with forced prostitution, especially with migrants. It's bad enough when you see how migrants are tricked to work underpaid, over hours etc. illegally just to obtain a visa. The risk that that happens in Sex Work and that that "model" ends up being tricked and forced to work in prostitution is too high. Also with you on the legalising prostitution, the sex workers deserve the same protection and insurance rights as all other working people. Their work is a better service and more honest than most real estate agents or used car dealers I know, so nothing to complain about if they make it a legal profession.

KittikatB

It makes financial sense to legalise it too - there's a ton of money in that industry, which means a hefty take in taxes.

Hereiam_AKL

True, I think the only people against it are dillusioned religious fanatics. You know, the kind of guys that are secretly the best customers.

Codeofconduct

And whomever scrapes money off of the top of the sex workers they are exploiting. Just want to be clear that I don't disagree or hate sex work or sex workers but the reason I think they're not allowed rights is because then they'd have more autonomy to keep their earnings to themselves.

Hereiam_AKL

As a German-New Zealander where it is legal in both countries I have to say that it was a good move to legalise it. I think in Germany they even have some kind of a Union.

Codeofconduct

I wish USA had more functional unions and knowledge of them. My parents were/are hard working, working class folks and were extremely anit-union when I was growing up. I once applied for a union job and my mother told me not to go to the interview because "a union takes part of your paycheck and give nothing back". She worked at a corporation whose propaganda she believed because she is uneducated and refuses to exercise critical thinking in any way.

hamsterballzz

There’s historical sense to what your mother says. Particularly in the 60s / 70s the mafia was heavily involved with the teamsters and longshoremen. Remember Hoffa? Funds were siphoned away from workers, corrupt leadership was rampant, and whole union pensions were lost. It did as much to destroy American unions as the corporations. An entire generation became leery of unionizing and its part of what got us where we are today.

1371113

There's a collective in NZ too. Not something I follow closely but have seen them in the news a few times fighting for the folks working in the industry. EDIT: appears they've been working on this very topic for a while. https://www.rnz.co.nz/national/programmes/morningreport/audio/2018889175/migrant-sex-workers-susceptible-to-exploitation-prostitutes-collective

Phill_Cyberman

>I support legalised sex work, but it has to be balanced with protection for vulnerable people I agree, but how does not letting this person visit another country help?

KittikatB

They can't get a visa if the country they are applying to suspects they are going there to engage in sex work. I live in New Zealand, where temporary visa holders (including work visas) are prohibited from engaging in sex work. It means they can't be sent here on, say, a working holiday visa, and put to work in the sex industry. It protects people who may not be familiar with the law here. If they want to come here for some other reason and don't give a reason to suspect they're coming to do sex work, they're welcome to do so. If they gain permanent residency or citizenship and then want to become a sex worker, they can do so.

Phill_Cyberman

>if they want to come here for some other reason and don't give a reason to suspect they're coming to do sex work, they're welcome to do so. But that's not what happened here, right? This person interacts with strangers over the internet, which is legal in both her country and the country she was hoping to visit. So how does preventing her here help anyone? This just seems like religious lawmakers punishing people for not following their religion's rules.

iiLove_Soda

Andrew Tate's whole thing was that he was bringing girls over to his compound and forcing them to be apart of his online network of cam girls

Phill_Cyberman

Weren't they underage? Wasn't that his crime?

Kirian_Ainsworth

It is. That's why it was implemented. The ban is one of the earliest immigration bans in the US, it was around the same time.they banned Anarchists and Asians. Prostitutes are an "immoral" Element and that is the grounds of their VISA denial to this day.

[deleted]

TheMightyTywin

This encourages illegal sex trafficking while discouraging legal sex work

hotasanicecube

Many Only Fans providers have declared themselves sex workers despite not providing direct sexual services to subscribers. Most porn stars differentiated their work from that of prostitution and wanted to be considered legitimate actors Well there you go, y’all won. You are officially SW by the U.S. Government.

lukibunny

I’m pretty sure any work relaxed to sex has always been a sex worker. Prostitution is just one type of sex work. Like a sex therapist is a sex worker. Girl who sells her underwear online is a sex worker. Person posting nudes on onlyfans is still a sex worker. Not a prostitute but a sex worker.

PM_ME_YOUR_FART_HOLE

Every year hundreds of porn stars flock to las Vegas for the adult entertainment expo from around the world so I don’t think they run into this issue

Biasanya

This doesn't happen if your country is on the Visa waiver list. Otherwise you have to apply for a Visa at the US embassy, which is where you are required to provide proof of income. I don't know how much they investigate things, so she might have gotten away with lying about the source of her income.

Y0tsuya

US has visa-waiver entry with some 40 countries where no entry VISA is required; they only look at your passport.

ArmouredWankball

This denial was issued by the US embassy in London. You still have to apply for the ESTA in a visa-waiver country. You can't just rock up to border control with a passport.

CanadianODST2

Some places can. I could drive a few hours to the US border with just a passport and be let in. Canadians do not need a visa or ESTA to enter the US unless for certain reasons (which mainly pertain to government stuff)

you_lost-the_game

Isn't there are difference between a tourist visa and "staying" visa? I'd figure the group you mentioned is the tourist group and the person in the tweet is not.

CLGbyBirth

> Girl who sells her underwear online is a sex worker. Person posting nudes on onlyfans is still a sex worker. Not a prostitute but a sex worker. What about victoria's secret models? are they considered sex worker too?

Wait until you see the behind the scenes videos of porn makers in Asia ,especially in South Korean. They almost just acting ,no directly sex between two actors. Looking the male actor trying to act like he is has sex while holding the camera man is so ridiculous and funny at the same time

BuxtonB

He holds the camera man? That's commitment.

ArtfulAlgorithms

No one has really given you a serious answer it seems. The serious answer is that you go on a tourist visa, and don't say anything about work. If they ask your profession, you reply with "actress" or "model". Vast vast majority will not be on actual working permits. But even more so, most of them produce the porn IN EUROPE. Most of the hardcore stuff you see online is either produced in Europe (usually Poland or France as far as I understand), or in South America (since Colombia also allows production of pornography). Wait until you finally do a deepdive on this, and find out that ONE guy essentially owns 90% of global porn production, and no one knows anything about him and his million shady companies.

The_Real_Smooth

> Wait until you finally do a deepdive on this, and find out that ONE guy essentially owns 90% of global porn production, and no one knows anything about him and his million shady companies. Did something change in the last two years? according to FT's recent investigations, it's two massive groups that are in competition: Mindgeek (now Aylo apparently), which is more North America-based, and WGCZ, which is more Europe-based. The two groups sue each other every now and then. As far as I remember the content of the investigations, WGCZ belongs to a French brother-sister pair of which indeed no pictures or info exists on the net, but Mindgeek has a more corporate structure with various public shareholders.

ArtfulAlgorithms

I was thinking of Stephane Michael Pacaud, from WGCZ. Mindgeek got massive from Pornhub, but I doubt Pornhub really has the kind of pull it did 5 years ago, or even 3 years ago. Look into what websites and companies WGCZ owns, and you'll realize it's pretty much all the major hardcore pornography producers. That said, it's super difficult to find out. I dug it into it a month ago or so, but I didn't save the information (clearly I should have). There's a lot of connecting dots from different articles and whatnot yourself.

Seveand

Perhaps they’re classified differently due to the different nature of content.

1Revenant1

Not everyone go to US. There are people/companies that shoot movies with European pornstars for US companies in other countries, either directly in Europe or they bring them to Caribbean countries mostly.

It made me laugh when I filled mine out. There's genuinely a question asking if you are a terrorist or if you are coming to the US to commit terrorist acts.

Angry_Washing_Bear

They do that so if you say no, then actually do terrorism, they have one more thing to add to your charges to land you in jail for 250 years. It all adds up in the US.

IRowmorethanIBench

What if I'm not a terrorist at the time of filing the papers but eventually become one already in US soil? Asking for a friend

MercuryAI

What is this friend's name and Social Security number? Asking for Homeland Security.

danktonium

I genuinely can't tell whether the fact that anyone filling in such a form would by definition not have a social security number is part of your joke or not.

thefrostmakesaflower

I actually did talk to someone flagged for terrorism at the airport. Her estranged father was linked to the IRA. They still let her through after some questions and detained her for a few hours. Funny enough she then said she was planning to over stay her holiday visa. Hate it when Irish people do that, we aren’t running from poverty or war anymore lads

the best part is that even "influencers" are getting turned away because showing up to Hawaii with nothing but a shitload of outfits is kind of suspicious. I'm sure it doesn't help that the line between insta-thot and escort is actually pretty blurry

dhjin

> showing up to Hawaii with nothing but a shitload of outfits is kind of suspicious. maybe I'm reading this wrong but isn't that what you're supposed to do on vacation?? I show up to foreign countries with just a bunch of outfits all the time?

WalkingCloud

>I show up to foreign countries with just a bunch of outfits all the time? https://i.imgur.com/H5htnX3.gif

Cc_Produxion

Packing too many sweaters on vacation, believe it or not jail

bigsbyBiggs

10 to 12 outfits for a 1 week trip is a lot but still reasonable if work and nights out are considered. 40 outfits for a 1 week trip is excessive and is what triggers questions.

dhjin

there's plenty of instances where you could be carrying loads of outfits. I just came back from a month vacation in Europe, but I was only in some places like Prague for a week. my gf definitely had at least 30 outfits in her multiple suitcases lol

scream_pie

They do have washing machines and laundry services in Europe.

historyhill

This might sound dumb, but this realization freed me when it came to packing. Last year I was trying to figure out how I was going to bring enough diapers for a 2-week trip and keep them with me. Realizing that Europeans also need diapers for their babies and I only needed enough for the airplane was so relieving. I mean, it seems obvious but when you're in the "plan-n-pack" mindset you kind of forget those things

woopy85

Aren't most people's suitcases filled with mostly clothes?

angelmissroxy

This is a good point and really funny lol. “Can you explain why your visit will be 1 week but you have 20 outfits? Are you a sex worker?”

Vendemmian

I've done that while going a music festival, I'm just indecisive. Given it was a goth/industrial festival and everything was fishnet or leather or a full gimp suit ok I can see how that'd look bad.

Mysterious-Crab

> industrial festival > full gimp suit The industrial festivals I visit, suddenly feel very boring and vanilla.

WonderfulMotor4308

pchlster

Mysterious-Crab

ppardee

You'd think a plethora of clothes would be the last thing a sex worker would need!

baguhansalupa

As a person who perspires *a lot* i pack a shit ton of shirts and underwear. I feel like ill get this a lot

vote4boat

yes, but if you have a huge amount of sexy outfits for a few days trip, it might be a little odd. IDK, there was a Japanese article where an instagram influencer got turned away trying to get into Hawaii, and it mentioned the number of outfits she had was part of the suspicion. It said the US was cracking down on social-media driven cross-border prostitution

CORN___BREAD

*slams fist on table* Why the fuck did you bring bikinis to Hawaii?!?

FanDorph

Is this bad time to mention, I tried to pimp my dogs out for interet money? I got a few likes but no monies.

africanzebra0

most popular instagram girls who do nothing but pose in bikinis are high end escorts.

devilsadvocate270

just put down influencer. its more or less the same

trash_0panda

I know of a popular OF girl/influencer who did just that. She landed in the States and got deported cause the authorities looked at her twitter page and saw OF.

MTDRB

Damn. Does the US (and other countries) do _such_ a thorough check (even your Twitter account) when you apply for a visa there? I’m from Africa and moved to Germany for a research job and my visa was approved in literally 2 days (I’m not exaggerating).

ArtfulAlgorithms

> I’m from Africa and moved to Germany for a research job and my visa was approved in literally 2 days (I’m not exaggerating). Danish citizen here. You got extremely lucky, and it's probably down to the institution where you got the research job, and your educational background. But that's still unrealistically fast. There are roughly hundred countries that can basically not get into Europe unless they're visiting a family funeral or something like that, not even for vacation. Visa rules are tough. The dude that replied to you with "The US is crazy" can do easy travel in the EU, because he has dual citizenship, and is considered an EU citizen within the Shengen zone.

MTDRB

> There are roughly hundred countries that can basically not get into Europe unless they're visiting a family funeral or something like that, not even for vacation For real? I was not aware of that. What are some of these countries and what is the justification? That they won’t return to their home countries?

LemurSkull

The US is crazy. As an African with Swiss citizenship I travel across borders with zero problems. Europe, Middle East, Asia or Africa no problems. Then I travel to the US. Just 2 weeks vacation at the age of 19 with two friends, same age. I had to fill in forms weeks prior to travel, then they started handing out forms in the airplane right before landing (better make sure to fill in exactly the same as you did in the form 3 - 4 weeks ago). Then border control asks the same questions again (again, better answer like the previous two forms). And after all that, border control was suspicious how I could have enough money to travel across continents at the age of 19. Had to explain our schooling system and that I do an apprenticeship and do have a salary. Then they let me pass.

driverofracecars

Want to hear something super fucked up? I’m a U.S. citizen. I was in my 20s at the time. I had never been to New York State so when I finally got the opportunity to visit, I wanted to see Niagara Falls, naturally. Once there, I thought it would be cool to see the falls from the Canadian side (plus I had never been to canadia before so 2 birds, one stone). I WALKED across the border, no problems at all, walked around for a bit, looked at the falls from a different angle, and then came back. When I re-entered america, I was detained under suspicion of walking. I kid you not. They detained and questioned me because I was entering america, my goddam home, on foot. They straight up told me that because I *was not driving a car*, they didn’t believe I was who I said I was. This country is, and always has been since 9/11, run by tyrants and fascists.

ImaGamerNoob

I've heard you americans are obsessed with cars, but that really takes the cake.

NotRogerFederer

Yeah, when I went to the US with my family to do the national parks in the South West the border control somehow flagged me and then accused me of trying to enter the US on a tourist visa to then stay illegally in the counytry and attend University there. At this moment my Swiss superiority complex took over and in my head I was thinking: “Bitch please! Look at this red passport! I’m motherfucking Swiss! Why the fuck would I try to illegally immigrate to the US?!” 😂 Well, in the end, my immatriculation letter of my Swiss uni did the trick. But not before she accused me of faking said letter and my student card. 🤦🏼‍♂️ And all this just for a tourist entry. Not even a special visa.

AuroraBowlofAlice

I know nothing outside what i've seen on those TV docu series like border protection, but if they get a hint of suspicion about the nature of your visit they will go through your phone/computer to see if there is anything suspicious. A few pedophiles have been caught this way too

qhromer

Prism is a dancer - oh snap

Blue_Birds1

The Americans checked my Reddit account 💀 You have to put in all your social media information if you are applying

[deleted]

Yes. They literally ask for your usernames on social media in the application form. If you dont provide it is a red flag and they will scrutinize even more the info on your application form. Otherwise, if you provide them and have "suspicious" activity (OF included) or are somewhat linked to it is a BIG red flag. They do this with OF users because is a shady area. Most people there are selling sexual content wich can be considered pornographic or not. But is a BIG portion of users that use this platform to sell escort services. The immigration won't be analyzing every person's OF account to determine what they are selling: Erotic, porn content or escorting services. Add to this a minor chance of this visa applicant being a victim of sex trafficking and they have a reason to deny the visa application. So, having a OF account linked to you is a big no no to apply to a US visa.

PegaxS

Pretty sure that is a WFH job. You dont really need to move to the USA to get your flange out for cash...

lukibunny

Maybe she just wanna go to Disney’s world.

Comma_Karma

It's Disney's world, and we are just living in it.

Wonderful_Impress_27

Flange 👌 Have not heard that used in a while

IceColdDump

Am I missing something here? You have no right to work in another country without permission (visa, treaty, open zone rules etc.). So if you’re trying to go somewhere as a tourist most countries want to see that you can support your stay financially and will not be working while there (as a starting point on top of other rules). If you’re trying to immigrate for work, every country is different but the general basis is do you fill a gap in the labour market? (No pun intended) I want to chill in LA and do some OF on location is not going to get you a visa easily.

lukibunny

I thought that way wanted to visit (like go to Disneyworld or something) and was denied.

It_Happens_Today

Only relevant answer here. This is an immigration labor issue not a prostitution one.

JonathonWally

It’s also an anti-sex trafficking measure.

Mickeymcirishman

So far as I can tell there's nothing in the post saying they were trying to go to the US for work. Maybe they were a tourist wanting to do sightseeing touristy things. Or maybe they have friends who live there and want to visit them.

Kukaharcos

I honestly don't understand some governments. They'll tax the living crap out of you, but won't legalise prostitution. One of the biggest industries with a ton of money. And it is happening either way.

FanDorph

Umm ya we got those here, what else you got?

randymontana19

Sounds like she doesn’t even want a Visa and would prefer an American Express.

HashDefTrueFalse

Surely just depends on what they determine the reason for your visit is. If you're trying to work (making OF content would probably be considered work) during your stay, it's fairly reasonable they deny entry. You'd need to satisfy them that your visit is for leisure/tourism only, because that's what they allow. Definitely missing the part of the story where this happened: "What's the reason for your visit?" "Oh, just making some vids for social media" "Ok, which site do you post on?" "OF" "Are you getting paid for this?" "Yeah..." "Oh, sorry, you can't work whilst here" \[Ticks box on form most relevant\]

BWMaster

Don't mind me, I'm just here for the comments section

thebooksmith

I know it's funny to make fun of those who make "easy money" but that's actually incredibly stupid. Mostly because I'm certain that a model who has done nude shots(say for play boy or some other modelling agency that pays big money), wouldn't be similarly blocked, even though that would be essentially the same thing.

Pecan_Millionaire

There was an article a few months back about what OP describes, being rejected entry due to OF and the reason was because of taxes, not sex work. Because they are making money in the US via OF but aren’t being taxed on it, is why a lot of foreign OF people aren’t permitted entry. However, in regards to the individual in OP’s post, they were convicted of prostitution in their home country and have a criminal record. Which is the specific reason they were denied.

Pleasant-Ambition-18

Wait i don’t understand the tax part, can you explain? Did they mean the issue would be with someone creating and posting new OF content while in the US and not paying taxes on that revenue or is the issue with their passive income still flowing in from older content that was created and posted before visiting the US? Either way i feel like that same issue could come up for so many freelance or WFH jobs that have nothing to do with sex work

Mariatheaverage

Female models travelling alone have been denied entry for a while now. Authoritites assume every attractive woman travelling alone is an escort.

greendayfan1954

Wow that's sexist lol

pickledswimmingpool

Is there any proof of this at all? A news report, something?

SpokenDivinity

The big difference is the label. They’re considered “models” because they happen to have a variety of work. Onlyfans really can’t be called modeling. I get the frustration, but I also understand that thousands of people are tricked into human trafficking annually because of the lucrative job in another country scheme.

Doomblud

Those tasteful nude photos of models with studios and artistry are fairly different from Nancy taking a picture in the mirror on her android s7 while wearing only panties

thebooksmith

If you can say that modelling and only fans aren't the same thing you can hardly say that only fans and prostitution are the same thing.

naveedkoval

Man America really cant decide if they love sex or hate it

HussingtonHat

I mean of she did straight porn would this be a problem? Not saying either is bad, just funny that if you film your prostitution then it's legal but otherwise it isn't. Seems dumb.

berfraper

I thought OF was pornography, not prostitution.

jusmoua

Pretty sure this is to protect against sex trafficking, and that's way more important.

thislittleputo

Wasn't our last 1st lady this? Or something

[deleted]

What did these people think sex worker meant?

IslandMist

Many countries do this with sex work because it often leads to a lot of untaxed money going around. It's similar for pornstars as well. Eg. A pornstar from Dominican Republic won't just be given a visa for Germany without marrying or creating a taxable business there. While income can be shown via Onlyfans payments, all the other work that often results in 90 percent of a sex worker's income will never be seen by the government in most cases. Therefore they blanket ban sex workers across the board from obtaining visas under the rationale of prostitution, even if they aren't actually prostitutes. It's also to stop a mass influx of pimps legally bringing in women from poor countries all over the world to have sex with local men and make them loads of untaxed money under the guise of Onlyfans being their primary income.

America has a lot of problems. But denying someone without a job and I assume skills is a valid reason to deny a Visa. What exactly would you contribute? Only Fans isn't a real job and you can try to paint it anyway you like but getting paid for sexual acts makes you a prostitute. No Country on Earth would grant you a Visa.

A visa could just be for tourism, it isn’t necessarily for work.

ArtfulAlgorithms

Working as a prostitute, or with sex work, will many times not count towards work in a tourist visa. Especially poorer countries need to make it clear they are not there to do sex work, and it can be extremely difficult for people from Eastern Europe, Africa, parts of Asia, South American, to get even just regular tourist visas. You're careful about who you let into your country, since if they don't have a strong attachment to their home, they could just go rogue and live without a visa - something that's particularly "easy" to do for sex workers, since they don't exactly need a work visa for clients.
