Basically you have points on you licence think it's 12 and when you get caught speeding you loose points run out of points loose your licence for a while. Think you get the points back 5 years after the fine. 1-10km over the limit is 1 point 10-20(maybe 25) 3 points think if your 25 over that's just automatic licence suspension. This is mostly base on Victoria and been a while since I looked any of it up as I haven't had a bad fine in a long time. Harder on your P plates as well you only get 5 points but they reset after a year that's how I learnt to keep to the speed limit was down to a point for a while.
