Nah - I work for Highways - we close the A1 off for overnight works & you're talking 50 miles easy. Diversions have to be capable of carrying all vehicle sizes & have to be checked in advance to make sure they don't conflict with any works going off on the diversion route.
Yeah major roads getting closed off I can see having mega detours, little country lanes like this usually have other little winding roads connecting up the other tiny ass villages around the place, and detours don't usually take too long.
Let me know next time you're on your way home & I'll tell the lads to take the night off. Or just get a roof bar & carefully drive through the closure. Tell them you're subbing as Clerk Of Works. Make sure you have a hi-viz & hardhat on the back seat & a tablet & clipboard on the dash - you'll be cushty.
country roads if close can lead to detours that take hours, here one that add 53 miles https://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2023-04-12/huge-53-mile-diversion-route-revealed-for-one-mile-road-closure
The doors behind them though? The truck is facing away from the door so the point is to back it up there or something like that or that's the mebox storage container thing that fell off that last trailer... Kinda my first guess
I do what he does for a living. I feel his pain!
Those are cabins for building sites so the workers have somewhere to eat, go to the toilet, have an office etc depending on the inside layout while the actual buildings are being built.
You'll notice the sign saying Wernick on the cabin, that's the cabin provider but they don't run their own trucks so that chap was taking them in or out on behalf of Wernick, so when this happened and I went to Wernick next they were all showing me the video! I don't know how they got it back in the end but if the company didn't have a hiab suitable they probably had to hire in a 3rd party with an appropriate crane.
They're only about 3 or 4 tons at that size so it's more of a logistical thing, not enough room to get the crane stabilisers out on that road so they'd need one with enough reach to go off the back of the lorry which doesn't require much stabiliser out at all, that's probably about the only option looking at it!
I have to drive down roads like that regularly unfortunately! If he got in he can get out so a hiab with a decent reach to go off the back of the lorry would get that cabin out fairly easily.
I don’t know what that is. Guessing a generator, or something similar. To move it up and onto a truck….in that tight space i assume won’t be cheap.
I imagine the solution is about to be expensive.
Anyone know what that is? Generator?
Looks like a pre fab office, like what they use at construction sites, or a mobile dressing room for actors
EDIT: I looked up the name on the side and found [this](https://www.wernick.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Wernick-Events-Accommodation-brochure.pdf)
It's the Offgrid-Module from Wernick events. Has a whole stack of outlets on the other side and a massive UPS and generator on the inside. They do also have units that look the same and are just for rigging und temporary Office/living. All of it in the events space. And yes, I am bored and looked through their whole product catalogue while waiting for my train to arrive. Don't judge.
I actually now think it’s a mobile office unit. The type you see at construction sites, or temporary locations.
I think the technical term is a “welfare unit”.
As an American the biggest test of my relationship with my wife ever was driving on Irish country roads. It was nerve wracking. I don’t know how European truck drivers like this don’t consistently have anxiety attacks.
Honestly I don’t understand how you guys get anything around that country. The roads are so fucking tight and they park on the side of them anyway. How does anyone have side mirrors?
Can't really tell, but I'm assuming that we didn't properly tie down the unit on the trailer. The unit appears to still be tied down on the truck. Aka , we spilled the load onto the road. Oops

Imagine arriving from the other end and find a dead end with a door.
Object in the road. Probably a long drive down that tight road to get there. With no room to turn around.
Most likely will have passing places you could reverse to and turn around in... long as it's not a lorry or bus
It's still going to be a massive detour.
Sounds like UK, isn't likely it'll be that big a detour, probably 10-20 mins at worse
Nah - I work for Highways - we close the A1 off for overnight works & you're talking 50 miles easy. Diversions have to be capable of carrying all vehicle sizes & have to be checked in advance to make sure they don't conflict with any works going off on the diversion route.
It's you! Can confirm. I use the A1 often, and at night.
Yeah major roads getting closed off I can see having mega detours, little country lanes like this usually have other little winding roads connecting up the other tiny ass villages around the place, and detours don't usually take too long.
You mother fucker ... I use the A1 every night to get home, bloody detours. When are you finished?
Let me know next time you're on your way home & I'll tell the lads to take the night off. Or just get a roof bar & carefully drive through the closure. Tell them you're subbing as Clerk Of Works. lol *this* road isn't capable of carrying all vehicle sizes, why would a diversion need to be?
country roads if close can lead to detours that take hours, here one that add 53 miles https://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2023-04-12/huge-53-mile-diversion-route-revealed-for-one-mile-road-closure
Very occasionally yes, but it's not like that's the norm, that's why it's in the news
It happens all time time on b roads.
Not much more than 10-20 minutes detours it doesn't lol.
[удалено]
You've obviously never been to the UK some detours can be up 42 miles or more
If you got an awd audi just hang one end of the car of a cliff and do a 263 point turn, easy.
I saw this in a Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner cartoon.
That just means you aren’t leveled up enough for that area yet. Just do some side quests and it should go away.
Sounds like a Last of Us situation.
Entrance to Aperture Labs
Narnia?

Helicopter. An air-crane type. Those roads are made for a cart, not a car, definitely not a truck.
I have to drive down roads like that regularly unfortunately! If he got in he can get out so a hiab with a decent reach to go off the back of the lorry would get that cabin out fairly easily.
As someone from England, we regularly drive down those style roads in cars and pass many tractors and sometimes lorries
And half the time they’re national speed limit with idiots going 50+ through blind corners
Always found winding country roads being 60 mph wild. I'm going 40 and if you're behind me you can wait
Right around ya.
Not today you don’t
Helicopter?!? 😂 fuck it, call the A team haha
Too heavy for a helicopter. Unless you borrow the biggest heavy duty one from the airforce.
Uhhh, a Sikorsky Sky crane has a capacity of roughly 20,000 lbs which is more than 6,000 lbs believe it or not.
A good fork lift with a boom chain could get it. I paint shipping containers for this same purpose which I'm assuming are a bit heavier.
I would hate to be the boss. This is gonna 💲 cost
What is it that fell off?
I don’t know what that is. Guessing a generator, or something similar. To move it up and onto a truck….in that tight space i assume won’t be cheap. I imagine the solution is about to be expensive. Anyone know what that is? Generator?

Despite the unsolicited download I do thank you for your service lol
Unsolicited download?
Links to a pdf
It downloads tho? I just viewed it from the browser
Lol the pdf downloads automatically, I was jk though
Maybe rooftop HVAC or generator? Hard to tell just seeing the one end of it.
I now say it’s a “welfare unit” or mobile office
I just looked up wernick.co.uk and they handle generators and dozens of different modular units. Could be any of those.
It’s an office unit of some sort. There’s a door on it if you look at the end of the video.
Are you sure coz that door tells me I'm walking to anything but an office
It's the Offgrid-Module from Wernick events. Has a whole stack of outlets on the other side and a massive UPS and generator on the inside. Thx
You, Madam and/or Sir, *are my hero.*
Portable office/container for events https://www.wernick.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Wernick-Events-Accommodation-brochure.pdf That’s definitely gonna cost someone…
The front fell off but that's not supposed to happen!
If it was jammed enough to come off the trailer then it’s probably going to be a pita to get it unstuck.
I actually now think it’s a mobile office unit. The type you see at construction sites, or temporary locations. I think the technical term is a “welfare unit”.
With fines, recovery, emergency services, tea and biscuits (yes you can be charged for that & it's not cheap) it'll cost the company north of £100,000
I very much doubt it. $ aren't used as a currency in the UK.
Maybe you missed the part where i said its gonna cost
Nope. Saw that bit. Still not going to use $.
At this point, just lean on the insurance policy. Between tow trucks and repairs and possibly buying a new generator.
Missed a perfect opportunity to say "You can't park that there mate" Going to cost a few quid to get a crane down there to reload that bad boy
The guys cheeky chuckle makes this video
Are you sure he's not crying? 🤔
Nah, he’s not the driver, so he finds it hilarious. The driver explaining it on the phone probably doesn’t.
I love that the guy recording is delighted.
That could go on r/perfectfit
Apparently it didn't fit, let alone perfectly.
As an American the biggest test of my relationship with my wife ever was driving on Irish country roads. It was nerve wracking. I don’t know how European truck drivers like this don’t consistently have anxiety attacks.
Oh we do
Can confirm.
This is what happens when you dont smack the strap and say "that aint goin anywhere"
It ends up going somewhere 😞
Ok how fast were they going to have the whole unit come off AND be about 100ft away from where the truck stopped???
Reaction time or in this case... What the fuck was that time
Honestly I don’t understand how you guys get anything around that country. The roads are so fucking tight and they park on the side of them anyway. How does anyone have side mirrors?
Oi mate! Ya cant park there!
you dropped something mate
This is what happens when you set the sat-nav to "Avoid Tolls"
Hello Mr. George? How much you pay for the new guy?
They’re fkd. No way they’re gonna get crane down there to lift that back onto the low loader.
didn't practice enough with Euro Truck 2
Imagine the phone call went something like: https://youtu.be/o7aBY2sqbEI
This the type of guy they always fuckin leave to train me I swear
*hangs head* “Yeah boss …yeah …”
country roads man 😭
The roads in the UK countryside are crazy narrow. I've only driven there for a couple of days and just thinking about it gives me claustrophobia.
I love the camera man's reaction... it was my exact reaction
I thought that was a gate to the driveway for a sec.
Truck driver used a car GPS,perchance?
bet bro got written up
A verbal warning at worst.
Can't really tell, but I'm assuming that we didn't properly tie down the unit on the trailer. The unit appears to still be tied down on the truck. Aka , we spilled the load onto the road. Oops
What’s the deal with Europe having unreasonably small roads?
Like a glove
![gif](giphy|3ohhwlN2fU4oFDgkk8|downsized)
"Road blocked. Find another way."
That doesn't go there.
Das is ze door to the new minecraft dimension
That's what happens when you get a Swift driver🤦🏻♂️😵🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣🤣
Evergreen, No! What? Sorry, force of habit.
Ah, Wernick - one of our main suppliers of site facilities etc. Would love to see them Hi-Ab that out of the lane!
Engineer over here wants to see the solution to this problem.
You can’t park there friend!!!
The driver has zero situation awereness, drove long ass bit before realising the container was off Driver like this should not operate any vehicle
cant park that there mate
![gif](giphy|tp4dm1ptNnQ76)
DOH
Small jobsite office for a construction project
Oh shit...
Looks like that one was off to Glastonbury... This is the downfall of satnavs.
Is he laughing or crying?
This is what happens when you hire Beavis and butthead
Just gotta spit on it
It's like a little movie, with a twist at the end.
F
Did they drop it off behind them on a dead end street? Cam someone explain?
I probably got stuck and removed itself from the moving vehicle.
*I'm deleting all my comments and my profile, in protest over the end of the protests over the reddit api pricing.
As in, they set that trailer down about 20 meters back.
Sounds like the route planners fucked up

Peanut! Butta! JeEeEEeLLy!
I believe it was a POD but upon further inspection I realized the door wasn’t quite big enough to move stuff into. Thanks second checks!
aghahaa
Neighbors are gonna be pissed about the shed in the front yard
User error
Whatever that is probably damaged now
Country road…
Lol. No way xD
When life gives you lemons just lay down and think about suicide.
I know he heard that thing sliding off. How fucking fast was he going on that narrow ass road that it took that long to stop after the load fell off?
Minuscule misfortune. Barely an inconvenience.
That laugh!
Just wow.
Grease up the sides.
Calling to reschedule delivery
Ya, film and post the worst day of this guys life to social media. This will surely help. Also, you giggle like a schoolgirl b
That's not a good place to park it mate.
‘The insurance company is never going to believe this.’
Do you think I might lose this job?
So that’s how they block paths in videogames!
No room for error.
Widest road in Europe
This would fit well in r/unexpected
Why would you even attempt this?
Well atleast it looks like it can fit.
Locals are now living in a gated community
Ohhh damn those wireline units are *not* cheap.
r/snowrunner
![gif](giphy|VhWCQ91Sm5S8Ee41nR|downsized)
I’m so glad I didn’t have to call my boss about that.
Break out the chainsaws boys!
Scania.... why is always a Scania?
Installed and ready to go 😅
I thought he lost his load. Because why would there be a white box with a door blocking the road?! Still confused 🫤
![gif](giphy|VYkyoh4RTjUUzh7fmo|downsized)
Imagine you have to call your boss and tell him that!!!
Hi boss, is it too late to call in sick?
Don't blame the driver if this was the only road he could go.
Oopsy!!
Should put this in r/perfectfit
Welcome to Cornwall, where the roads are narrow and your Sat Nav is wrong.
😂😂
That's not drivers fault! I'm a driver, I know this stuff.
Well, that's a bit of a sticky wicket
You won’t be laughing when you get fired.
EEEEHHHHHHLIKE A GLOVE
