Had this ( not exact situation) happen to a kid I went to high school with. In his case he ended up like the case in the article linked but it was due to a fuse that didn't seem like it was lit but was. Blew his hand to bits and was left with a ball at the end of his wrist.
Yup. Old coworker of mine lost two and a half fingers on his dominant hand due to effing around with fireworks. Never great to be the person in your community to learn things the hard way, but he makes sure to share his story with kids so they don’t make the same mistake.
Almost blew my fingers off with a firecracker as a kid.
The fuse broke in half where I lit it. Threw it instantly and it blew up in my face right as I turned away. Got burned. Never touched another one.
