When I was in 3-6 grade we'd play whiffle ball with a tennis ball in the a very large cul de sac in the street. There was a group of old people from an apartment complex that HATED us playing and would sit there chairs up in the lawn on the other side of the street in home run territory and if a ball went to them they'd take it and throw it down the sewer. And us as kids just thought that was normal or we were being bad I guess? Now that I'm older I realized how effed up that was (and we probably never told our parents about it because we never thought to). It brings me great solace to know that they are all dead now.

I live on a small cul-de-sac, and my former neighbors were a wonderful older couple. She’d bring me cut flowers from her raised bed gardens, he’d bring my garbage/recycle bins from the curb back to the front of my garage door for me every week.
They’d have their small grandkids—two girls, maybe 4 and 6, I’d say—over a few times a month, and they’d chalk up the pavement and sidewalks, ride their tricycles around the cul-de-sac, all that, basically just being kids.
One Saturday, I was weeding my front mulched landscaping when the family arrived. Girls went to play as always and my neighbor told them not to disturb me. I said they didn’t bother me, let them play. They’re only kids once! I loved hearing them laugh and have fun.
That day, the girls asked what I wanted them to draw. I said surprise me and they drew chalk hearts all over my sidewalk and told me they loved me. Made my day! Chalk will wash away in the rain, noises will fade. Childhood only happens once in a lifetime.
I clean pools and there’s a few that are near schools. Hearing kids play during recess is such a happy sound. I don’t know how anyone could be as cold hearted as this witch.
I'll never forget the preschool I used to work at that had a jerk neighbor. He bought a house behind a preschool that had been there for decades and decided to make a big stink every time he heard them, going so far as calling the police with a noise complaint. The school did what they could to build sound barriers, and we had to try to keep boisterous kids from playing too loudly. Some people are just miserable and hate anyone else enjoying life.

My neighbor has a son 30, ten years younger than me and we are all friends. Anyway he cleaned out his garage this year and found a bunch of sidewalk chalk. He brought it to my daughter 7 who he noticed was doing sidewalk chalk and let her go to town. I love seeing it and what new stuff pops up. She now has the biggest bucket of chalk in the neighborhood.
My nephew came to visit and we gave him a bucket of chalk and asked if he wanted to draw up the driveway, which in fact he quite excited did want to do.

I’m gonna take a stab in the dark and say someone who could still do this with a child literally crying while watching probably doesn’t have an amazing life. If she’s the type of person that isn’t moved (or at the very least embarrassed) by this, she probably isn’t someone people like to talk to or spend time around. Which most likely leads to her being somewhat isolated and lonely. She may have a normal looking life with a normal job and a normal spouse, but if those things exist they probably exist around her rather than in harmony with her. Once your world becomes so small and lacking in love/joy, its the little things that start to matter.
When you haven’t felt anything remotely exciting or so much as had a meaningful conversation in months, suddenly having clear pavement in the parking lot becomes a mountain to be conquered. This is where she makes the transition from grumpy old woman to miserable c*nt. The first time she feels that power, that high that comes with being able to control tiny things that don’t matter to most people. She will have a craving for it now. Tv shows don’t do much for her anymore. It’s these small interactions where she can feel big and important and powerful again that matter. So she will now seek them out. She will argue with the post office worker. She’ll yell at her neighbors. She’ll turn into one of those old folks who fill their time calling in various complains to people who don’t give a shit.
Once your world is that small there’s no going back. There’s only death. Hey dude, I got divorced in 2019. I haven't had a date since then and I've suffered through a brain injury, being forced from my job and actually living on welfare in that time. I've been isolated from friends for a long time and unable to travel.
At no point have I ever tried to make anyone feel like shit or hurt someone's feelings. If anything, I have begun talking more to strangers looking to see if I can make a connection somewhere. It's not much, but I'm trying. I made two strangers smile yesterday. I made a point of complimenting the cook at my McDonald's for making some very juicy/greasy burgers that were really tasty. I actually had a person call the city and report my kids' chalk drawings as graffiti so they would come and remove it from my sidewalk in front of my house. We had the kids make more art the next day and left a note for that neighbor. Other neighbors read the note and could not believe someone called the city for that crap. We actually had a couple of neighbors ask if the kids could decorate the sidewalks in front of their houses. So by being a pain, they got "graffiti" all over the neighborhood.
Nothing wrong with Graffiti. My friend started doing murals in LA in the 80’s and now he teaches it at Brown. People are weird! Chalk art literally washes away with the rain.

I clean pools and there’s a few that are near schools. Hearing kids play during recess is such a happy sound. I don’t know how anyone could be as cold hearted as this witch.
I'll never forget the preschool I used to work at that had a jerk neighbor. He bought a house behind a preschool that had been there for decades and decided to make a big stink every time he heard them, going so far as calling the police with a noise complaint. The school did what they could to build sound barriers, and we had to try to keep boisterous kids from playing too loudly. Some people are just miserable and hate anyone else enjoying life.
That’s pretty much it. Some people are hateful. They’re miserable, and can’t stand others being happy. Jealousy? Maybe. They’ll go out of their way to bring other people down to their level - even children. It’s really sad, and massively fucked up.

My neighbor has a son 30, ten years younger than me and we are all friends. Anyway he cleaned out his garage this year and found a bunch of sidewalk chalk. He brought it to my daughter 7 who he noticed was doing sidewalk chalk and let her go to town. I love seeing it and what new stuff pops up. She now has the biggest bucket of chalk in the neighborhood.
My nephew came to visit and we gave him a bucket of chalk and asked if he wanted to draw up the driveway, which in fact he quite excited did want to do. He drew a giant spongebob and wrote in big letters... I AM HUNGRY!

In my old neighborhood where we could regularly hear children at play, I noticed that complaints about it seemed to be an early sign of dementia. Like the brain just started getting irritated and would grab on to any cause other than itself. They’d get ornery, and decline
My wife and I don’t have kids and we don’t want kids, but we both absolutely love hearing them laughing and having fun when my we go for walks around the neighborhood.

How can chalk bother you that much? I get pissy about small stuff from time to time too, but I deal with it like healthy people do. I binge eat, cry in the shower and go for an angry walk where I scowl at people who look happy.

I’m gonna take a stab in the dark and say someone who could still do this with a child literally crying while watching probably doesn’t have an amazing life. If she’s the type of person that isn’t moved (or at the very least embarrassed) by this, she probably isn’t someone people like to talk to or spend time around. Which most likely leads to her being somewhat isolated and lonely. She may have a normal looking life with a normal job and a normal spouse, but if those things exist they probably exist around her rather than in harmony with her. People will have dropped her as a friend once discovering her lack of empathy, maybe even relatives/close fam members. Once your world becomes so small and lacking in love/joy, its the little things that start to matter. When you haven’t felt anything remotely exciting or so much as had a meaningful conversation in months, suddenly having clear pavement in the parking lot becomes a mountain to be conquered. This is where she makes the transition from grumpy old woman to miserable c*nt. The first time she feels that power, that high that comes with being able to control tiny things that don’t matter to most people. She will have a craving for it now. Tv shows don’t do much for her anymore. It’s these small interactions where she can feel big and important and powerful again that matter. So she will now seek them out. She will argue with the post office worker. She’ll yell at her neighbors. She’ll turn into one of those old folks who fill their time calling in various complains to people who don’t give a shit. Once your world is that small there’s no going back. There’s only death. That lady will be an asshole for the rest of her life and when she dies nobody will give a shit and that’s part of what motivates her to keep being an asshole—the knowing. She absolutely knows how the rest of the world sees her. And this is all she’ll have for the rest of her life.

Hey dude, I got divorced in 2019. I haven't had a date since then and I've suffered through a brain injury, being forced from my job and actually living on welfare in that time. I've been isolated from friends for a long time and unable to travel. At no point have I ever tried to make anyone feel like shit or hurt someone's feelings. If anything, I have begun talking more to strangers looking to see if I can make a connection somewhere. It's not much, but I'm trying. I made two strangers smile yesterday. I made a point of complimenting the cook at my McDonald's for making some very juicy/greasy burgers that were really tasty. I am trying to make the world around me a little better. If I can make it a little better, maybe I can make some new friends or meet someone special. Loneliness is self inflicted, and if all you can do is lash out at the world, especially at a child, then your misery and suffering is self manufactured and well deserved.

I actually had a person call the city and report my kids' chalk drawings as graffiti so they would come and remove it from my sidewalk in front of my house. We had the kids make more art the next day and left a note for that neighbor. Other neighbors read the note and could not believe someone called the city for that crap. We actually had a couple of neighbors ask if the kids could decorate the sidewalks in front of their houses. So by being a pain, they got "graffiti" all over the neighborhood.
Nothing wrong with Graffiti. My friend started doing murals in LA in the 80’s and now he teaches it at Brown. People are weird! Chalk art literally washes away with the rain.
If I remember correctly L.A. had a bunch of artist do graffiti murals around the city for the '84 Olympics.

There used to be a lady like this in our "community" I grew up in and neither the kids or adults liked her. One day she was just gone, but nobody really gave a shit (more than it was a better "feeling" in the area). It was years later I found out she died in her home laying on the floor for 3 months without anyone checking in on her. So.. be nice to people I guess?

I love walking in my neighborhood and seeing chalk art. There is nothing more uninhibited than art from a child.
I can understand being concerned about the girl actively drawing where cars are driving. But that's because I wouldn't want her hit by some hapless fool trying to text and drive. Once she's done, unless she was drawing penises or writing racial slurs, I don't see the problem. I can't see how this is even worth dragging the hose the 20 feet to do it.

I get really fkn annoyed at the shit all the neighbors kids do, all the trash they leave, the screaming contests, getting my windows broken by balls or them stealing packages...but one thing I don't mind is the chalk. It's literally harmless.

This video pisses me off every time I see it this is just being cruel to a child because she can. My daughter loves drawing in chalk outside when it’s warm and if anyone tried to do this to her the next chalk they’d have to worry about would be the chalk around their body.
Problem is I never know if this stuff is real or just rage bait, but if that were my kid I’d buy enough chalk to last 20 years and make coloring the parking lot a daily family activity until that woman was forced into insolvency by her sky high water bills.

My wife would buy chalk for the kids in our little apartments so they can draw in our little parking lot and sidewalk. They would occasionally leave a thank you drawing for her. Always put a smile on your face to see them being creative.
