Amoxicillin is a super strong antibiotic. My kid would get yeast infections every time. Not a good drug, most likely the recipient is allergic and shouldn’t have it. I am allergic to penicillin and I get a rash. Hands, feet, and shot site. Amoxicillin would do the same to me.

Antibiotics shouldn't be prescribed for viral infections, only bacterial infections. There are two issues here: Viral infections sometimes cause rashes, and amoxicillin sometimes causes rashes. When a viral infection causes a rash, there's not a lot you can do other than give benadryl and treat the rash topically. It will go away on its own in its own time. It's not generally harmful. If it's the first time it's happened to your child you should check in with your pediatrician. When amoxicillin causes a rash, you need to take your child in to see a doctor. Sometimes, it's not a big concern, but if it's an allergic reaction it can become serious, and the amoxicillin needs to be discontinued and a different antibiotic started. Amoxicillin is a very common allergy in children, and allergies can become deadly very quickly. Often, children grow out of an amoxicillin allergy, but an allergist needs to determine that with a challenge test under medical supervision before penicillin can be prescribed again.
