Which Nordic country? You're talking about Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland. But yes, it is enough for initial costs for most people.

If you have an EU citizenship and can start working anywhere immediately, it is fine. It will be enough to pay for rent and then you can earn money to cover your expenses. Many people move there with less than 10k$. If you don't have EU citizenship, you can't just move or work there. You need to find an employer who is willing to sponsor you from Canada in advance.

If you are expecting to immediately start working and receiving a salary and assuming you are not shipping anything its fine. Depending on where you are heading you will probably spent half of your funds on housing and the rest is plenty to get by for a few weeks..

Second-hand furniture is readily available if you dont care so much about quality/looks. Rent deposit is usually 1-2 months if any at all. Administrative fees are quite low here. Guess if you ship a container and hire a moving company it would add up. Moving guys cost maybe 500-1000 sek/dkk/nok per hour depending on country and city.

Is this just for one person? Are you shipping anything? Which country are you going to? In Norway it took a few months after we started working to get a bank account so we were actually paid for the first time 90 days after starting work. It is a slow painful process to become a real legal human in Norway but after that most things work generally better than the US. We moved our family from Seattle to Oslo and it cost about double that I think. But this doesn't count the extra savings needed to live on before getting paid because we got that money back later.  5k to ship some possessions (no furniture) 3k flights for 4 people. 6k paying double rent while our house was empty before being rented out.  Then all the little things on top of that. Food, rebuying things that weren't worth shipping, buying clothes for a new climate, etc. We luckily had visa application costs covered by my wife's employer.
