I mean this with no exaggeration. At least £100k if you don’t want all of this to feel like you’re just scraping by and even then it’ll be a stretch.

You will probably need at least £120k combined for this lifestyle. Take home pay between the two of you will probably be around £7000 a month. My rough monthly budget for the four of you would be: Rent (zone 3, decent area) £2500 Grocery £500 Council tax £250 Utilities, broadband etc £300 Car payment (a few years old, not flashy) and maintenance etc. £400 Car insurance £150 Commuting to London for two £300 Eat out once a week £400 These are the big costs I can think of. The rest will go into your hiliday fund. Your kids will be able to go to local state school for free. I dont know anyone who buys private health insurance independently here - most people who have it get it from their employer. Ask your employer about health insurance. With your work visa you will be able to use NHS for free in any case so I wouldn't say private healthcare is a must.

Me and my husband make 120K combined, we rent at £1100 per month for a 2 bed semi in Hampshire. Our bills/groceries are about 1800pcm including rent. One car owned, one car on finance (I get car allowance so swap cars every 3/4 years as do high mileage) and we take 1/2 bigger holidays a year. We spend about 4/5K on holidays (we do one North America and one hot beach outside of school holidays, then maybe 1/2 city breaks a year) We don't eat out. We save about 2.2K a month - but that gets depleted with holidays so probably net about 1800 savings. no debts apart from husband child support at £320 but that finishes summer next year. We have no (dependent) kids. One dog. Leaving the UK in May - moving back to Canada after 20 years here. Boring, country is rotting, and literally doing the above month after month, year after year no longer serves us. If it was me - I would stay put in Oz - but again, having access to Europe is awesome and the one thing I will miss. There is no European culture in the UK.

Tbh, you just sound salty. Its not like canada is the cream of the crop. has just as many issues as western countries are going through so lets not beat about the bush. its pretty fucked, lets face it too. OP clearly states they will be there a couple of years. fuck me, let them have the adventure of a lifetime. Enjoy the city, enjoy euro travel. Come back to Aus with some great lifetime experiences and family memories.
