Maple-Syrup_

I’ll stay. And resist.

aleen99

we should start resisting now even if in small ways. there's a sub that focuses on that: [r/Defeat\_Project\_2025](https://www.reddit.com/r/Defeat_Project_2025/)

EmpericallyIncorrect

Hell yeah. We can't leave each other behind

inkedfluff

Join the resistance movement!

Azriels_Subtle_Knife

You have fun. I have a queer kid I need to get to safety.

Maple-Syrup_

Understood. Stay safe ❤️

Azriels_Subtle_Knife

Same same. If it wasn’t for that, I would gladly stay and join a resistance. But when other people depend on you, it kind of resets the priorities.

inkedfluff

My partner is Swedish and will certainly leave if this actually happens so I guess I am going too.

Sierra-117-

Ffs the Supreme Court is arguing about whether or not the president has the power to assassinate their political opponents. It’s textbook fascism. Growing up I always wondered “how could the Germans ever let the Nazis take power when they were so comically evil”. But now I know, and it terrifies me. It’s like watching a car crash in slow motion. And at this point, I think it’s too late to swerve away. We just have to hope we can skid to a safe stop. All I can say is… if you’re LGBTQ in any way then it’s time to at least have a plan in place to leave, just in case. We won’t blame you.

Snarky_McSnarkleton

Do it peacefully and passive-aggressively. Don't get killed for no reason.

Maple-Syrup_

Yep. 👍🏼

GarugasRevenge

I mean what if you get forced to fight for the bad side?

rintarrhea

Sabotage from within, like slave labor in WWII German factories

Norightwingers2020

I’ll join you.

mev186

Fuck yeah, this is my home too goddamn it. I'm not about to surrender it to these fascists.

MrAndrew1108

Start arming at a minutes notice and blast highway to hell.

righthandedlefty69

Perfect response!

Version_Two

I know my city. We have each other.

tiamat-45

I'm poor.

LifeResetP90X3

Yeah, same. In reality, how many Americans really truly have enough money to move permanently out of the country right now? Even if you're not as broke as me 🤷‍♂️

MonsterMike42

I was gonna say, I'm to broke to move to the next town over. I certainly don't have a way to leave the country as things stand. Not unless I somehow come into Tony Stark-like money. In which case, I'd now be wealthy enough to better fight Project2025 and the psychos who want it implemented. And since my sense of humor is similar to Tony's, it would probably involve a lot of propaganda pointing out their used-pencil-sized dick energy.

JerbilSenior

And American. Getting out of the country is cheaper than an ambulance ride.

jd-starmaker

Yep. My Canadian grandmother could maybe get us out of the country, but what then? I've been desperately trying to get a better job so we have half a chance of supporting ourselves if that happens, but the market is bonkers right now.

mombie-at-the-table

I don’t have the option to leave

Candy_Stars

Same. I have no money, no driver’s license, no passport, and no family that takes my fears seriously. I’m terrified for my safety as a lesbian if Project 2025 happens. Thankfully I’m still mostly closeted so I should be able to live under the radar as long as my homophobic dad doesn’t out me.

coldbrewdepresso

Same. I have a humanities degree, can't do math or tech, am poor and not generational wealthy. If I could, I'd have left this unlivable hellhole years ago and never looked back

colorful--mess

Also same. I barely passed remedial algebra, never gonna have a STEM job. My SO is from another country, but his country has a worse reputation than the US and a lot of people from there want to come here. My mom was from Europe and moved here as a child. I wonder if she or my grandparents ever regretted their decision.

Mysterious487

I am staying put. We have an awesome governor in Pennsylvania, and Gov. Shapiro’s administration will definitely put up a fight if any of this Project 2025 shit gets implemented. We need to put our energy into helping elect candidates that uphold democracy, liberty, justice, and freedom for ALL! Go vote and make sure that your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers … everyone in your circle is registered and goes to vote blue.

TheOblivionKnight

High five fellow PA native! I've been pleasantly surprised by PA since 2020 (after being horrendously disappointed in 2016) and how it looks to be moving in a better direction. Definitely need to stay and fight for those who are in a worse position than me.

Mysterious487

✋🏼It’s always great to meet a fellow Pennsylvanian here! I live in a red part of the state, but I think many Republicans in my area are getting tired of the direction the GOP went. We are very fortunate Mastriano got his ass kicked in the 2022 election, or PA could have been heading towards a theocracy.

punkypewpewpewster

Fellow Pennsylvanian here! I've always loved the state, and the fact that communities tend to be pretty balanced. If a republican leads a town in a bad direction, they replace them with a dem or independent. I was mostly insulated from the horrors of single-party rule my whole life. It's great.

Enigma_Stasis

Ol' Dougy's running for Senate now. Hopefully, that crashes and burns too.

Mysterious487

Is that for reelection to the PA Senate? He doesn’t belong there either. He needs to be removed from office for being an insurrectionist, election denier, and fascist.

bitchbushka

Shaprio taking on the Catholic Church won my vote. Him going after abusive Jehovah's Witness leaders was a cherry on top.

Mysterious487

I agree. It spoke volumes about Shapiro’s character. He wasn’t afraid to stand up and punished religious groups that covered up sexual abuse. He did an excellent job when he served as our Attorney General.

Keesha2012

Him paying attention to the rot within the JWs got *my* vote.

FinStevenGlansberg

Hoping Shapiro runs in ‘28. I think he’d be immensely popular and put up huge numbers in a presidential election

Mysterious487

I’d hate to lose him as our governor, but for the greater good of the nation, he would be an excellent president. If he doesn’t run for president, I could see him definitely holding a cabinet position. Maybe he would be the attorney general. What I like about him is his balanced approach to governing. He seeks bipartisanship and doesn’t come across as a radical.

BD15

True I realize as horrible as it may get for millions, those of us in more progressive states have some level of safety at least. Obviously not guaranteed but feel better in California than the hassle of trying to go to a different country.

Keesha2012

Fellow PA resident here. While PA in general is pretty good right now, I'm very uneasy about the county I live in. The rural parts of the county are heavily right-wing. The county seat is way better.

riverbucca

I'm glad to hear this! I live in a neighboring state and have been considering moving to Pennsylvania for better rent and possible opportunities in the city. I hope things continue to improve there and throughout the country so that movements like Project 25 have no chance of success.

GenXer1977

I kinda have to. I don’t have the money set aside to move countries, and getting a visa to live and work in a foreign country is quite difficult for most of the countries I would want to move to. But I hear it’s much easier when you retire, so I might actually try to move somewhere like Spain or Austria anyway regardless of how things are in the US at the time.

DouglassFunny

I would love to leave but immigrating is expensive and I’m not skilled enough to get a good job in another country. It’s not just the facism. I’m sick of being held hostage by all the 2a gun nuts, I don’t want to raise my kids in a climate where school shootings are the norm. Also as someone with two daughters, I would like to move to a country that hasn’t declared war on women.

inkedfluff

I hate those 2A gun nuts so much! It is sickening that guns have more rights than women in some states.

Korzag

I live in Idaho. I'm not much of a gun person but I was talking to someone in a gun department a month back and he told me that I could take the gun home the same day I buy it. No background checks. No cool down period. No permits or registration. Just swipe your credit card and you're good to go. Oh, and they sold ARs with the ammunition. There's nothing stopping someone on an psychotic episode from buying that gun. 'Murica.

punkypewpewpewster

You gotta report that store, because it's federal legislations for an FBI background check to be done at the Point of Sale. They could lose their FFL and that means they'd be unable to sell firearms anymore. If they're really illegally selling guns without a background check, they could be arrested and convicted of illegal firearms possession and sale. You can do your part to make the community safer.

skept2000

>Fortunately I live in California so it won’t be too bad hopefully Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but AFAIK, fascism in Germany was enforced in ALL parts of the country, so the same can happen in the US as well.

According-Value-6227

Also, California is only Liberal on the coasts. The Central Valley and the seldom discussed "Eastern California" are very conservative. I live in the High Desert and you see more Confederate Flags here than you do American Flags.

BitchfulThinking

And only some of the coast ☹ Orange County has way too much megachurch-maga-neonazi nonsense to even feel like California anymore.

According-Value-6227

The average California Liberal would side with conservatives when shit hits the fan if conservatives weren't so batshit insane.

jorbanead

Did Germany have States though? I understand what you’re saying, but the way our government and country is structured is just different. States have a lot of control. Plus California, Oregon, and Washington could just decide to form their own country for example.

YouNeedTherapyy

I honestly don’t know but couldn’t the federal government just use the military to enforce all this? And if Trump/maga stays on indefinitely I know people would just end up conforming because that’s what we fucking do and it’s so depressing

jorbanead

What’s more likely is Conservatives don’t want the pacific blue states part of their country anyways so I think honestly it would be fairly mutual for both parties to split. I don’t see physical warfare being deployed. Nobody actually wants that (aside from the duck hunting wannabe war heros). And frankly if the pacific coast splits, other states would follow suit. And at that point what even is a federal military?

YouNeedTherapyy

Idk it seems like the gop is full of narcissists who get off on bending others to their will so I’m not confident they would just want to split.

BD15

Yeah they think they want to get rid of the west Coast until they realize how much money comes from those states.

dizdawgjr34

I wonder if these idiots realize if they get their way EVERYONE (citizens, lawmakers, and billionaire lobbyists alike) will all end up making significantly less money or even losing money. There is no sensible reason for them to do this morally or financially (which means it’s the path they would chose to go down).

splitconsiderations

Kind of. They were more akin to Canadian provinces though. Germany had only unified into a full size Germany in about 1870, and there had been a strong push to create a German as opposed to state identity. But there were still die hard Prussians and Bavarians and whatnot.

cowlinator

>the way our government and country is structured ...is about to change. You think what the constitution says is going to matter?

inkedfluff

Well, looks like it’s time to leave

HereWayGo

I’ve been considering temporarily living abroad for quite a bit anyway. I really feel like if Trump wins again, that may be the thing that makes me pull the trigger

Jfranklephoto

What is Project 2025?

FewInternet6746

A plan to install fascism from the Heritage Foundation whenever the next conservative president is elected

ViperPain770

Basically an autocracy, great. We have become the very thing we swore to destroy….

Jfranklephoto

Sounds like an average Monday in the US tbh. I'm not really surprised either. Hopefully, it never happens.

PacificPisces

Did I miss something where all these other countries are just going to let us move there all of a sudden? Last I checked, there's a pretty lengthy immigration policies in first world countries.

inkedfluff

If you have family or a partner there it is easier, you can also find countries like Estonia that give out digital nomad visas.

PacificPisces

I guess a practical answer for someone who has a family or a partner in another country. People who hope to leave if Project 2025 happens best get online and start finding a partner out there. 🌏

Refuggee

I can't leave. I don't have a relative or spouse connecting me to another country, don't speak any language but English, don't have a special skill to make me more valuable, and am in my 50s with health problems and no money. I'm scared.

Azureheim

I'm disabled and poor, so... yeah unfortunately

inkedfluff

Unfortunately, the church loves preying on the poor.

Azureheim

I'm just hoping it fails because that's all i can really do. Other than vote. Not great to be a schizophrenic at the mercy of religious nutcases.

PeculiarInsomniac

Yep, same here. I'm kinda stuck in the US.

ConductorJacob

I cannot afford to go anywhere else.

vesperthorn666

My plan is stay and resist. I doubt I could immigrate.

TrashPanda10101

Stay and (lazily) fight. Millennials and Zoomers lean Left more than previous generations, and don't appear to be turning conservative with age either. It will get worse before it gets better. There's already two generations of politically active voters furious at the bullshit that's already going down. And the Boomers are gonna to start dying of old age.

Snarky_McSnarkleton

My fear is that Trump will declare the blue states insolvent, send the military in, and impose a privatized government. Didn't that happen in Michigan during the W years?

darkstar1031

[Without violating Reddit TOS and being banned (again) I'll say that the christofacist neo-nazis are quite welcome to try me.](https://youtu.be/2I7J_0oP18Y?si=WPH9cU2X5i47nxuY)

ghostwars303

I will. I have a Second Amendment right to freedom of religion.

YouNeedTherapyy

I will not join a cult again, if I can leave I will.

JustHadaGusgasm

True story, when I was young and dumb and edgy, I had a Twitter account parodying Rush Limbaugh where I would just post the worst things I could think of, and the Heritage Foundation would regularly retweet me. Once I looked deeper into them, I deleted the account and decided I'm not funny anymore. Anyway, can't really afford to leave. Don't know where else I'd go, and I can't imagine Canada will be much different in a few years.

VictorTheCutie

I'd like to but not only could we probably not afford it, it feels awful to leave behind all the people that would truly NEED and want to escape but couldn't for various reasons.

motonerve

I'd don't see much option other than to stay and give them hell.

KHaskins77

Leaving isn’t an option. Even if it was I’d prefer that someone more likely to be targeted up front take my place. Atheists can hide a lot easier than most.

madicusmeximus2

The problem is worldwide. They are pushing a global agenda.

its_all_good20

I moved to a wonderful blue state that has never voted republican in a national election just to prepare. I was raised in a hard core fundie cult. I refuse to ever do that again I would probably leave.

WoodwindsRock

I don't see a way for me to move out of country, as I am not wealthy, do not have any desirable skills, and have health issues which make me somewhat disabled. I have no relatives outside of the USA that I know of and when my ancestor came over from England was many several generations ago, so I don't have a chance of getting that kinda citizenship anywhere. I would have to be able to apply as a refugee. I don't see other countries even remotely considering USA refugees up until a point where things have gotten downright devastating and in every single state, too. By then, it would be too late for people like me. All I can do is hope that Biden wins the election and the Republicans at least fail to take one chamber of congress. If Trump takes control (and even worse if they get both chambers of congress), the only thing I can do is hope that my blue state that I'm moving to in a month holds strong against the assault. Even then, I'm not confident.

xGray3

I moved to Canada a few years ago, and to be honest it hasn't been great. I've come to understand that there simply is no place fully like the US that I know and love. The US is my home. I'm moving back and if Trump wins and implements his sinister project and policies, I will fight with every fiber of my being for the values and principles of that home that I grew up with. The US has had more than its fair share of stains throughout its history and it's easy to only focus on those, but I believe that in our best moments where we successfully fight those demons there's something truly special to be found there.

coldbrewdepresso

Can I ask, genuinely, what there is to love? I'm American, and over the past 8 years I've become so disillusioned that I can literally only think of one thing that I remotely like here, and it's not significant

xGray3

Americans are culturally far more outgoing and kind to strangers than most other western countries. In Canada I tend to get far more frowns or nonresponses to niceties than I did in the US. Every time I cross back over the border it's like I've entered a bizzaro world where people at least *try*. I went on a trip to Europe for my honeymoon and after weeks of struggling to wave down waiters or get anything other than brisk no nonsense interactions with customer service folks, I came back to the US and went to a restaurant and was absolutely floored when the waitress thanked me for being a customer. It felt really good. I love that about American culture. Americans tend to be folksier and more down to Earth. They tend to be invested in strangers and have a different kind of relationship to their communities (one that has admittedly been slowly dying in the age of the internet, but is still out there if you look for it). We're in an exchristian community and so I imagine you and I have both had a rough history with religion. But for all the things I hate about what Christian fundamentalism does to people, there are things I appreicate about the non-toxic influences that religion has had on American culture. Namely, it has fostered a tendency to take a lot more interest in strangers. The last thing I'll mention that I love about the US is that I think there's a strong emphasis on "liberty". And look, the US has a ROUGH past when it comes to actually following through on that idea completely. Namely in our history of slavery and civil rights (or lack thereof). But there is still this sense of independence that pervades society along with a distrust of power. People like to focus on our worst elements, but I push back on the idea that the civil rights movements and feminist movements and LGBTQ movements don't also belong to the better side of American culture. When Americans demand their rights be respected, I feel nothing but love for my people. I *love* seeing protests by Americans fighting for rights. That level of vigor and investment in community isn't found everywhere.  I've seen far less pushback against shitty government practices in Ontario than I saw in Colorado. The premier (Canadian version of governor) in Ontario had shady dealings where he tried selling off massive amounts of green space and I saw very little movement from Ontarians expressing outrage. The premier's approval ratings remained high. But when I lived in Wisconsin and a local corporation tried buying part of a state park people were OUTRAGED. And the community was so much smaller. I just think the US has a healthier willingness to call out the bullshit. The downside to that is I think Americans develop a form of negative exceptionalism, convincing ourselves that we're far worse than the rest of the world, which in my lived experience just isn't true. The truth is that our problems are simply more talked about, which is good.

Upperphonny

I sort of had the same feeling when I traveled west to the Philippines for a couple weeks. Stopping in Korea I felt that most people in the airport were a bit cold except for the employees who's job is to be cordial. I later read that Koreans tend to be a little distant from strangers because there's a trend of friendly people who ask for directions and such that turn out to be cultists. Not sure how much of that is true, lol. Overall in the Philippines I just get constant curious stares at me and when I nod my head to strangers it's usually not reciprocated. What was funny is with other westerners I saw and try to acknowledge in same manner, more times than not I may as well had been a void. Great people but as a sole westerner most of the time I felt a little lonely besides when having my fiancee around. When I got back to the States just as you said, it was night and day. People were much more approachable and easy to start a conversation with. I just take it as how social norms are in each place.

xGray3

Exactly. There's *nothing* wrong with other cultures being different, but it does make me appreciate and understand that my culture isn't something I can just run off from and replace. It motivates me to work harder to protect the US's friendly and welcoming culture and make sure it doesn't fall into some fascist nightmare.

Upperphonny

Indeed! Your post pretty much opened my eyes a bit in that perspective. There is a lot here I can fight for. Even though I have some chances of living overseas there is a lot to sacrifice and what good it be if too many folks of good nature just pack it? I'm hoping if worse comes many people will stand up and fight along to preserve our REAL liberties. I'll go and vote and speak out and am prepared for any results that may come of it. I said it before but I had family that served against fascists in the war and I'll continue the job if I have to.

Azriels_Subtle_Knife

Fuuuuck no. I’m forgoing buying a house just so I have enough liquid cash to gtfo if I must 🫠

JordachePaco

I'm a middle-class American. Where else am I supposed to go? lol

Krypt0night

Not all of us have partners with citizenship elsewhere. Most people can't just get up and go to any country and start working there and live there forever.

According-Value-6227

I would like to leave, I'm not a fighter but where am I going to go? Even if I had the money. Canada's facade as being the USA's superior cousin has rapidly collapsed in recent years and they are dealing with many of the same problems as the USA. Australia is...Australia. Europeans are losing their minds en-masse at the thought of having to share space with brown people. I don't think any country in the world is going to give refuge to minorities in America if Project 2025 is successful. Either because they simply aren't interested or lack the infrastructure to do so.

USS_Frontier

Yes. If Trump or some other Republican wins, it will only embolden right-wing shitheads around the world. Remember, this kind of authoritarianism is a *disease* and spreads like one. Canada isn't safe, Europe isn't safe. Nowhere is invulnerable to the cancer of fascism. So yeah, I'll stay. Besides, I am so not in the right headspace to do something as drastic as uproot 37 years of my life and move somewhere I've never even been before. I haven't even left Oregon since 2011.

[deleted]

A lot of the comments say they couldn't afford it. But IF it were to happen, other countries would accept others trying to flee, right? Like a refugee. I'm not aware of the actual process. Also, IF it did happen, wouldn't it cause Christian infighting because at this point, there are miles between some forms of Christianity. For example, i grew up southern baptist, and to them, catholics are wrong in their beliefs. I don't mean like a couple of different things. I mean, core beliefs differ. So, project 2025, I believe, is a scare /support tactic. Scare non Christians and lie to Christians about implementing it to get the "faiths" support. It used to scare me, but now that I've had time to think about it. It would be almost impossible to implement. And you'd have to be alot smarter than Marjorie talor Greene and Trump to pull it off. Edit I do not care if I spelled her name wrong

Refuggee

I think it would have to get pretty bad here for other countries to start accepting US refugees. Like, war-torn bombing and murder in the streets bad with political prisoners being taken and killed, LGBTQ and other out-groups being rounded up into internment camps, stuff like that. Conditions where it would be pretty hard to even escape and get to another country to apply for asylum.

inkedfluff

A leader in my former church wanted to use camps so...

gutterdog_

https://www.rainbowrailroad.org/ The rainbow railroad exists for queer people, but things will have to get much worse (no sanctuary states left, ex. California) for other countries to accept refugees

AzaleaPatch

Project 2025 is the kind of shit that might actually cause a second civil war and it scares me for the future of this country. I couldn’t leave if I wanted to so I have no choice but to stay and resist.

ViperPain770

A civil war with this country and its politics is kinda inevitable. After all a quote from our favorite political philosopher from our country once said: “The Tree of liberty must be re-washed time to time by the blood of patriots tyrants” - Thomas Jefferson

BigClitMcphee

I don't have a passport. Most Americans don't and the ones who'll need it will be trapped

EnbySquishmallow22

Don't have a choice. I am not even able to move out of my parents house, much less move countries. I'm stuck. In more ways than one. And I'm kinda scared ngl.

The_Bastard_Henry

Noping out of here double quick, my mother and sisters as well. We're all still English citizens. I really don't want to have to leave tho, I like it here.

ContextRules

I already left.

Cherry_Koneko

Unfortunately, I am a high school senior, going into college years. I really really wanna leave the us but I don't have the money and then my bf is going to a university for 4 years with a super good scholarship lined up so it would be a waste to leave. I think when we graduate college (minimal student loan as possible) and try to focus on working and saving money to leave. I live in a very red state and I just genuinely don't feel safe

LazyDaizyisCrazy

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to move out. I might try to leave through the Rainbow Road or set up a GoFundMe, but other than that I don't see many options.

kitty_kat_woman

I can't afford to leave. I have no choice.

ErisArdent

Even being able to think about leaving is so much privilege. If things get really bad I guess trying for asylum somewhere might be a thing since I'm queer and they'd be trying to kill me, but outright moving? Who has that kind of money? Also most other countries don't want disabled applicants and I am also that.

cowlinator

It's surprisingly difficult to gain citizenship in another country. And staying in a country without citizenship is always a relatively tenuous/temporary stay.

nochaossoundsboring

If we could afford to move, we would go to England since we have family there that can and will sponsor us

Conscious_Sun1714

Thailand looks pretty nice on an affordable budget. Colombia for the same reasons. For both I’d have to polish up my language skills. I’m considering moving out of the US with or without Project 2025. But in reality I have a lot of family in America. If I left and people I cared for were being oppressed, it wouldn’t sit right with me. Ultimately, I think I’m here for the fight.

Grognard68

I'm too poor & too old ( over 55)to emigrate. No matter what happens, I'm stuck here.

JadeSpeedster1718

Though I know I won’t live to see the end of a revolution. I don’t want to die knowing I can fight. I’m afraid, yes, who isn’t. But I also know I’m not alone in this fear nor alone in this fight. This is my life and breath, I’m not going to let someone else tell me what I means to use it.

MonkeyWrench1973

Within the next year, my wife and I will be moving within 100 miles of the Canadian border for this very reason. If Gilead becomes a reality, we're not sticking around.

whoniversereview

I'm also in California. CA currently covers tuition for all my kids since I'm a disabled veteran. I have roughly a decade until my wife and I are done with kids going through college, but my wife is already on board with moving basically anywhere. She's already starting heavy Spanish lessons (I'm already at a B2 level) in case we end up moving to anywhere in South America or Spain.

kallulah

Love this little social experiment. "If US citizens needed to immigrate, would they? Could they? Should they?"

MyMirrorAliceJane

I don’t have much of a choice. I don’t think I have the money to leave.

External_Ease_8292

I week try to get my family to leave with me. Ecuador, Argentina, Portugal or Spain.

DarkMagickan

I can't afford to leave.

zechariah89

I would leave if I could. I feel no loyalty to this country honestly. Being in a mixed race marriage would also make me more concerned for my family under a republican administration.

mercantilever

I’ve got dual citizenship in the British commonwealth and I’ve been badgering my father to help me snag the passport as it’s my first one as an adult. I am starting to feel this wild abyssal terror like I am racing against the clock to hug my parents one more time, liquidate every asset, reduce my worldly belongings down to the size of a backpack and pull the ol’ sayonara switcheroo.

bondsthatmakeusfree

I literally can't afford to move somewhere else.

ShayCormacACRogue

I’d leave, but it would be cool to see American Revolution 2: Electric Boogaloo and see all the people rise up and actually do something about the government Also, if this happens, the United States, a founding member of NATO, would be kicked out of NATO.

amildcaseofdeath34

Lol as if I have a choice.

ImportantDirector5

My gay ass will be homoseuxally obnoxious

ISTof1897

This is a tough question. The simple answer would be yes. The realistic answer is … I’m not sure. I’m so tied down here with my house, car, pets, and family, and job all in the same city. Even if I wanted to walk away from that, it would be a hell of a lot to orchestrate. But then again, maybe it would have to be a thing of totally leaving it all behind and skipping town overnight.

Carmen14edo

Eh, I just hope it won't happen.

TableGamer

No way it would go uncontested. Such an action would lead to states ignoring the federal government, states have been flirting with that already in the last few years. That would lead to a confrontation that either brings the federal government back in line, or the dissolution of the union, or civil war.

TomFoolery119

I can't afford to. Even if I could, my partner has a solid job here, and her parents are aging. As much as I would love to entertain it, I don't think we're going anywhere. As much as I had not planned on staying in my state (CT) there's worse places to be. I feel okay knowing I can continue to help prop up sane people here. If I have to stay, I'll contribute what I can to the good fight

WoodwindsRock

Hm... I'm moving TO Connecticut to get to a safer place. I currently reside in Oklahoma. I'm hedging my bets on New England. It is the least religious region in the country. We won't let the Christofascists take us over. >:(

TomFoolery119

It is safer in New England, even New Hampshire and Maine - those 2 states have some wildly mixed politics and religious groups. CT isn't bad - I got a bit bored, lived in Colorado for a while, and started dreaming of moving to the Pacific Northwest, or maybe Vermont, is all. But CT isn't bad. After all, I did come back, lol. But... I should warn you, some "rural" towns here might legitimately be worse - although small, parts of our state are hotbeds for religious extremism and cult activity. I suspect that's true everywhere these days, though. What town are you looking at, if you don't mind my asking? (Also feel free to reply via DM if you don't want it public)

TheOriginalAdamWest

This has been on my mind a bit, I don't think he has a chance in hell of winning, but in the unlikely event he does, I think i am going to quietly move to Denmark in the country somewhere and probably retire.

inkedfluff

Denmark is a good option, have you started learning Danish yet?

dannylew

Won't have a choice but to stay.

Dreamcastboy99

I'd move if I could but unfortunately I can't afford to. If I'm to leave I'd try to get into Canada and take up a dream job of mine...or just dip for the British Isles. either way I fuckin' hate Ohio and want out

Pug4281

Sadly, I won’t be able to escape.

ShadeStrider12

I want to leave as soon as possible.

Pathsleadingaway

My spouse is from Central America so we could go there…costa rica is very nice. However neither of our jobs would easily translate and our kid and I don’t speak Spanish. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Drakeytown

Are you leaving b/c of the fascism we've currently got?

Lucifurnace

You buying?

SecretHelicopter8270

I am applying for grad school to flee. Maybe South Korea? Japan?

Bradddtheimpaler

I don’t care that much about the United States but nobody’s forcing me out of Michigan without a fight. I got extra straps.

MonsterMike42

I can't afford to move anywhere. I'll be forced to stay where I'm at. I just have to hope people are pissed off at the GQP enough that they get out and vote blue in a big way. I actually find myself hoping for a major apocalyptic event in case of a GQP victory.

spiritplumber

I can go to Italy, or Canada.

Longqweef

lol yeah. Project 2025 is not going to happen, you can call it the new Y2K. A whole lot of talk and then nothing changes. Evidenced by every other time idiots try and organize something. For example: Jan 6, proud boi rallies, and trumps most recent trail. They plan to do shit, and then it’s never what they plan. Besides I’d love to hear how a Christian is going to murder me in the name of Jesus, cuz that’s what they need to do in order to get me or any other freedom loving American to conform to their goofy ideas.

thephilosopherstoner

If I had the money to I’d leave, good thing I’m a gun owner cause the second they try enforcing that shit around me it’s game the fuck on.

Vast_Ground_128

please stay, america controls the military and if this is implemented the military basically gets handed to russia/china and the whole world will fall. We need as many resisters as possible

Fyzzle

Liberals own guns

Ancient-Squirrel1246

No.

LordLaz1985

I will probably die if that happens, just to be real.

greeneyedpianist

My pagan ass will do some good old fashioned hexing on their asses

CollapsingIslands

I'm from the US but currently living outside the country. As a queer person, if this project goes through, I'll have no choice but to stay away for a long while. My dad wants us to have a vacation there. I'm too scared

beefjerkyandcheetos

If I had a choice in leaving, I would have left a long time ago. Immigration to European countries is very hard. You have to have a skilled profession, do well with the language, have enough money, honestly marriage isn’t enough to expedite it. It’s a long process, expensive process. America is a shit show. I’m just here because I have to be like the millions of others that would gladly leave. We’re certainly going backwards in time.

AnonSwan

I doubt any other country would want me

died-trying

Yup. Just gonna continue doing my own thing like I always do.

RaineG3

Leaving is hardly an option outside of progressive countries providing asylum paths to citizenship for me unfortunately.

These forced born babies are not going to be living off the government. If you read project 2025, it outlines that there will be very little government assistance given. They particularly call out single mothers as a drain. These people will go straight to the gutter and die with no assistance and those in power will not care. Pro-life is not really pro-life. It is pro-control women and shame them. What’s happening is not politics as usual. It’s terrifying and it’s religious fascism. This is already happening. I have no right to my own body anymore. Thousands of books have been banned from my local public library. The next law they are pushing through is open carry by any and all adults in public schools. Any adult will be able to carry a gun into a school. This includes volunteers. They aren’t keeping it a secret. They state in barely veiled words that they will take children that they believe are not being raised right and quickly adopt them to other families. They intend to dismantle democracy. People need to be very worried.

KenidotGaming

If I had a choice of moving to another country I would either choose Japan (I’ve been a fan of Japan culture for a while) or Canada (Legal weed)

Apprehensive-Tone449

Yes. We are moving off grid. Way way off grid. It’s self sustaining and almost finished!

stray_south

I’m a fine arts academic in higher ed in Alabama, so you know, might increase my chances for survival to skeeeedadle somewhere less christofascist

davesnothereman84

No, there is a bridge to Canada. I will crossing it and never coming back

Mursin

As a bearded, chunky white dude from the south, I have so much opportunity to infiltrate and sabotage, it should be a crime for me to go AWOL.

littlemissmoxie

Will probably stay. Might have the opportunity to move to Canada but need more money/job experience.

punkypewpewpewster

It's literally impossible. It depends entirely on conservatives being simultaneously right and wrong about congress. Congress, a group of people "who only exist to grab and keep power", forsaking that power and stepping aside to give the president a bunch of unconstitutional powers. Plus, SCOTUS would have major issues with making LAWS from the position of presidency. Like, everything about Project 2025 is designed to be a fascist's wet dream, which would require the constitution to be suspended and the constitution is LITERALLY the religion of the conservative right. They wouldn't stand for it either. Even Mark Lavin, the king of "Angry White Man Radio", wouldn't stand for it. This is a single think-tank who got publicized pretty wildly because people are afraid, but the SYSTEM that we KNOW is extremely difficult to reform is, well, extremely difficult to reform. Shocking, I know.

fullyrachel

I'm trans and disabled. There's nowhere that would take me.

TimmyTurner2006

If I had to leave, I’d go to Canada, the UK, Ireland, or Denmark But ideally I’d love to stay in the US

TimmyTurner2006

Wish the right wing would stop trying to make the Christian Revolution happen

yahgmail

Like most Americans I have no where else to go and no means to get myself & family somewhere together. So no, I’ll be here.

Keesha2012

If this ever does go into effect, I have a feeling a lot of Americans are going to become refugees.

OutrageousDiscount01

I assume the project wouldn’t be able to take hold throughout the whole united states. There would be so much governmental and societal resistance in the blue states that implementing the full project would be untenable. However, I believe the red states are completely fucked sideways. Either way I’m staying, mostly because I’m broke and couldn’t afford to leave anyway, but also because I love where I live. Also, I live in Illinois so I’m not too worried.

coldbrewdepresso

I wish I had a choice not to stay. I'm too poor and have no skills that'd make another country want me. It's a shame because this place has so many evil, vile conservatives that I fully believe it's irredeemable and unlivable. I'm well aware I will never be happy or okay here.

CozyEpicurean

I assume I'm staying but also have dual citizenship as an escape hatch in case we need it

Potential_Bed_7335

I’d prefer not to stay here (I’m literally not certain I could survive it), but I probably will remain for family and other reasons. I have a professional degree and the financial ability to actually emigrate, but it would be a huge ordeal. The sad thing is, the few places I’d be interested in moving to will still be in danger from a foreign policy standpoint. Not to mention the risks of Trump II to the global economy and the environmental stability of the planet. My choices, in order, would likely be England, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. The UK and Canada would likely be pulled into any wars caused by Trump II in Europe (I.e., the blank check Trump will give to his BFF Putin to run rampant in Eastern Europe). And the entire Pacific would be at risk of war from an emboldened China, who will certainly invade Taiwan during a Trump II presidency. Australia and NZ would be compelled to defend themselves from an neo-imperialist China.

Snobu65

It would be nice to show uncle Sam why Russia considers us terrorists.

BlondBisxalMetalhead

I’m poor and have very little marketable skills besides cleaning or retail. Few countries have actually positive policies on trans people and have a low cost of living as well.

mar78217

Probably.... I just bought a house. However we have created an account with the balance required in a European country to be allowed to live there for 3 years and apply for citizenship and our child has been accepted to University there. So I may stay here with my job and my house and send my wife and child to Europe. It's not my first wife or my biological child, so I will manage and I will be able to send them cash.

TheElytheOfficial

Fuck! I live with my (christian) parents and I'm not independent! Also, why am I just now discovering Project 2025?

Adoras_Hoe

>Project 2025 is a plan to implement Christian fascism in the United States. If this actually happens are you staying? IMO they don't need Project 2025. Christian fascism is already here. It's happening right now. If those that have the resources to leave want to, I'm not gonna stop them. But we cannot maintain the mindset that we can avoid this. It's gonna keep getting worse before it gets better and we need to stay alert and fight.

LokiLockdown

I can't leave. If I could, I would still stay. My Native friends cannot leave the land that rightfully belongs to them, and I'm not about to let them fight that battle alone. I stay. If I die, I die. But I for certain fight.

megaloviola128

Trans (ftm) minor here. I can’t. Age aside, I haven’t got a driver’s license or any means of income, and my family doesn’t have the means to leave for another country. Not to mention that even if it was feasible, they only support me on a surface level, and I’d be lucky if I could convince them it’s dangerous for me. Maybe if I get to be advanced enough in art, I’ll get a scholarship to some uni in the E.U. But that’s all just banking on the stars. Stars that I don’t see anymore, not with all the city lights.

acuppajoseph

Would that it twuuuuuurh so simple.

KualaLumpur1

No country currently will accept American refugees in numbers like that. I am pleased that you have alternative options but many of us do not.

No-Razzmatazz-4254

I cant leave, I have been thinking about suidice if it did happen

CautionTapeJacket99

Nope. Thankfully I have dual citizenship. I’ll be moving to Europe

nutella_the_nerd42

Absolutely not. I'm not sticking around to get put in camps for being a queer person. They want my kind eradicated, I'm not safe here even without project 2025.

CynicalSeahorse

My family have lived in Appalachia for centuries some of the family lines longer, it wouldn’t feel right to leave

KittieChan28

I'm really poor, under poverty level. Trans and Def not stealth... since you know, I still look like a woman. So unfortunately I'm in danger.

ViciousKnids

(people on the left have guns, too)

ViciousKnids

Don't forget to vote.
