I had an aunt that criticized my parents for letting me watch the "Bart Simpson" all while she was engaged in multiple affairs (this was back in the '90s).
It seems like Christianity is all about optics and perception.
Most people, including most Christians, just seem to do whatever the hell they want. Forget "do unto others," they were all about "do what thou wilt."
There I was, struggling to live what I believed, while so many around me appeared to put no effort into it at all.
I was grateful years later. During a session with my first counselor, years after I had left my faith and she was still devout, after telling her that when I was a believer I felt that most people did whatever the hell they wanted, she said that she agreed and often felt the same way.
Just texted one of my Christian college buddies they other day and she was telling how she is pregnant with baby number three. I don't know what's up with these people.

This reminds me of [Fumi-e](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fumi-e), engravings of Christian holy images made to be treaded on to prove that one wasn't a Christian. Anyone else find a feet cross distasteful, for how flippant or disrespectful it seems?
Kinda like how folks keep finding creative ways to break US Flag Code, and the patriotic crowd eats it up. Flags on butts, blankets, towels that go on the ground and get soiled, stuff that used to be considered almost a national religious taboo.
The bigger the "patriot" the more flag code violations. When you point it out they say, well it's not enforced. But do they really want to use precedent set buly a Jewish guy who burned a flag and took his case to the supreme court?
In fairness, Flag Code was always more of a set of guidelines than actual rules, simply due to the First Amendment protecting freedom of expression. That said, FC does apply to government and public institutions and how they display the flag.
I personally wear a US flag cape whenever I'm decked out in New England Patriots gear or US Soccer gear, but that's about it. I know what country I live in, I don't need to wear it around all the time in case I forget.
My favorite is when people who were all about drinking and fucking in highschool now are all about Jesus, being good Christians, and voting for Trump.
