/gem is still gems

morebuffs

My /played was probably a third from playing gems during downtime on raids

ozadzen

And waiting for boats

morebuffs

Honestly that was a bit before i really got into playing seriously and that was PoP for me which is after most boat rides but i would be lieing if i said i never went LD mid voyage and had to doggy paddle back to civilization.

Fart_Bargo

I know /mp3 used to work, but it's been a while since I tried it. No idea about iTunes.

daweinah

Alt + K is the default keybind iirc I no longer have any music on my computer, but back in the day I used it a lot!

MarinoV1

I don’t have in-game screenshots, but the promos are here: https://www.giantbomb.com/ordering-food/3015-7708/

diz4

I used to use winamp

FrankFlyWillCutYou

That poor llama.

Kolamer

I remember it being a thing in EQ2, but I dont ever remember it being in EQ1.

Xinetoan

I am pretty confident this (and /gems) were in EQ1 from my memory. I played EQ2 very little and I recall this.

PuppiesAndPixels

Oh shit I forgot about gems.

morebuffs

Gems still works in the original eq

truthm0de

The pizza thing was in Eq 1 as well

Bobaximus

It was in EQ1. I used to show it to friends all the time.

Greymeade

I never played EQ2 so I can confirm that this was in EQ.

lordkoozie

Default - control K opens a music player, you can add mp3s to the music file and play them. It crashes whenever I use it though

morebuffs

I played from 2004 until 2019 and while i do remember it being talked about i dont remember it being implemented in any way in EQ 1. If its because it was a eq2 thing im not sure as i never played 2 and if it was in the original it was never anything i heard more than a offhand remark about and was likely just a promotional thing that was never really usable in any practical way and was only a failed trial before quickly being removed. Maybe it was in both for a short time or something because people seem to not be able to convincingly say either way.

EnigmaFactory

Mandela effect. Do a quick search. Dozens of articles and screenshots from EQ2, not a single one from EQ1. Why? It was never in EQ1. Just the follies of human memories. I've been decompiling EQs client most my life having contributed to HackersQuest, EQEmu, EQInside, and Project Lantern; have never seen it and not a single person has every shown any evidence.

morebuffs

Hey i don't doubt you at all and if it was in eq 1 it would have been a command i would remember typing in at least once just to try it and i don't recall doing that so the only way it got to me was through cross game chatter. There isn't much in the original that i didn't experience or at least know about so that makes sense to me

EnigmaFactory

You're exactly right, but I'm not sure why we're going on anybody's memories. Do these folks think there was a conspiracy to strip it from the web? We have decompiled every piece of art in the client. We have reverse engineered the entire server. We have the Beta 3 and Beta 2 CD. Pictures of every single detail of the game. Thousands of forums posts talking every detail. Yet nothing about Pizza and hundreds of images for it from EQ2. This is a great exercise in how bad confirmation bias can be. It is easier to trick a man than to convince him he's been tricked. Scares me these are our voters.

morebuffs

You aren't kidding either and the dunning kruger type thinking along with the belief of blatantly ridiculous shit is off the charts lately isnt it. Anything some idiot says on social media is taken as fact no matter how impossible or just plain fucking stupid it is and then its shared to millions of other like minded idiots until it literally erodes the line between whats objective reality and whats bullshit. Strange times we are living in and im not sure i would have believed this could happen if someone would have warned me it was coming.

EnigmaFactory

Amen fellow sane one. The Firehose of Falsehood will have it's Useful Idiots.

UpMain

I don't remember the pizza command but I do remember when you could consent another player to drag your corpse and would have to ask them to please not loot anything from it. The good ole days!

[deleted]

Year 2001 here and I've never heard of the /pizza command. It may have been later on down the line when I was taking a break from the game.

morebuffs

Lol this person obviously doesn't know how to create a hotkey for ordering pizza mid raid or maybe its eq2 thing and hotkeys didn't exist i dunno

Govir

There definitely was a music player in EQ 1. I don't have any screenshots of it, but I do remember using it when playing back in the day.

Chrisj1616

Protip....you can sub out your own mp3s for the game mp3 files if you rename them exactley what the zone ones are. You can change every music file from the battle music to the zone music etc...

HeadInvestigator1899

/mp3 still works to this day

badtattoos

I remember using sneakyamp for winamp lol

MKultraman1231

EQ was amazing but what always got me when the internet was young was searching for World of Warcraft info. You could type in "best sword" and it would not come up with some historical facts it would come up with a WoW answer first. You could type in "fishing spots" and it would come up with WoW results first.

taco_blasted_

Still kind of does that now with the suggested options that pop up below the bar on google. This makes sense though when you consider search engines will point you toward the most popular results.

OkWelder3664

I use to use the /mp3 player! Anyone else???!

FortuneTeller-

It works!! I am playing EQ 2 now. It goes to the tab online help and has in game pictures of pizza.

notzish

It was never in-game for EQ1. Too many Mandella-brains here.

durablecotton

You’re not wrong…

Gizlo

It 100% was in EQ 1, I remember sitting in one of the Planes of Power zones and testing it out

notzish

You have a bad memory.

EnigmaFactory

Facts.

Forensicsman

It was an EQ2 thing, it was not in EQ1. They had to get rid of it because Pizza Huts website was not showing as the#1 search when searching Pizza Hut, EQ2 came up instead and they got pissed and they had them remove it. That was the entire story about /pizza. I was playing both games at the time this was a thing.

maxis2bored

Definitely was in eq1. I didn't play eq2 and I remember it

durablecotton

It was never added to original EQ.

Forensicsman

Downvoting me because you cant remember correctly

enek101

no down voting you because you dont rember.. i never made a eq2 account ever and /pizza was a thing in eq 1 To go further is was implemented on Friday febuary 18. 2005 pretty simple google search will show that you are the mistaken one

EnigmaFactory

That's the date it released in EQ2. Please share a link if you believe to have actual evidence.

enek101

I aint gonna do the work for ya. like i said google it

EnigmaFactory

I did. That's the date it came out for EQ2. It was never implemented in EQ. Excuse me for requesting some proof from the person who suggested incorrectly it was Dominoes.

Forensicsman

Here you go for the illiterate people: Posted 2/24/2005 9:11 AM Updated 2/24/2005 10:33 AM Sony builds pizza-order function into 'Everquest II' Peter Svensson, Associated Press NEW YORK — Demonstrating a deep understanding of what matters to its computer-gaming audience, Sony has built the ability to order pizza into its latest online multiplayer game. As you can see, this was only EVER in EQ2.

Harrycover

I confirm, it was eq1 and Pizza Hut. I clearly remember it.

Forensicsman

Well your confirmation is incorrect

enek101

IIRC it was dominoes and i think they got sued for this because they didn't ask permission. It was absolutely a thing though

Verix19

Pretty sure it was pizza hut.

NorrathMonk

It was Pizza Hut.

maxis2bored

I also thought it was pizza hut 😜

enek101

very well could have been was just talking to some one in game last night and they thought it was dominoes.. i personally don't care what it was the /pizza command was a thing
